Thirty-Two Embry
Mila let out a frustrated sigh for the third time. I could feel she was starting to get anxious about everything. I had her close her eyes as soon as we got into the car. Just to make sure she couldn't look, I slid a blindfold over her eyes. I was sure that Mila had some kind of idea that we were going. But like she always did, she didn't say anything and just went along with the plan. Bree threw a wrench in the plans needing to come to the house but somehow I managed to pull it all off.
"Are we almost there?" she whined. I laughed but made sure not to answer her. Mila was never one to be patient which is why I had to do something special for her. She had been beyond patient with patrol and this whole Bree thing. I knew she couldn't walk away because of the imprint but the fact that she was willing to put up with me, always shocked me. We pulled up in front of where we needed to be and cut off the car. "Embry Call you have five seconds before I'm opening my eyes!"
"Just two more minutes and you can open them," I said before jumping out and walking over to her side of the car. I helped her out the car and we walked onto the porch. "Stand right here and don't move," I told her after we stepped inside. I dropped her hands and made sure everything was perfect. I took my spot in the middle of the room and told her to take the blindfold.
"SURPRISE!"
Mila opened her eyes and screamed out. I was standing in the middle of Sam's living room surrounded by the pack and the imprints. Mila looked confused as the girls rushed over to hug her. She hugged them back and then looked at me.
"What is all this?" she mouthed to me. I walked over to her and kissed the top of her head.
"When I said this night was all about you, I meant it." I said before kissing her cheek. I had decided to throw Mila a graduation party. She was set to finish her classes in two weeks. Since her school was online, she wasn't going to attend the graduation. So I decided we would celebrate with a party. Mila kissed me and slid her arm around my waist. I stood with Mila for a little bit before excusing myself and walking over to the guys. Mila let out another squeal. Kim had let Caleb into the room. Mila ran over and hugged Caleb before stepping and giving a hug to the guy he was with. I was fine until I saw her lips graze his cheek. I let out a low growl. Jake tapped my arm and I calmed down. Mila laughed at something he said and grabbed his hand. Caleb asked her where I was and she started looking around the room. She finally found me and waved for me to come over. I stepped next to her and she slid her hand around my waist.
"You're looking good Embry," Caleb said to me. I laughed and held my cup up to him as a salute.
"Embry I want you to meet Alex. Alex this is Embry," Caleb said. I smiled at him and tried to remember why that name sounded familiar. Mila had said that Caleb was finally starting to date somebody named Alex but I assumed Alex was short for Alexandria or something. The man standing before me could have been easily mistaken for Ryan Gosling. Well not quiet but he looked like he could be a brother.
"Close your mouth babe," Mila whispered in my ear. I didn't even know my mouth was open. I quickly shut it and welcomed Alex to the group. Dakota, Seth's imprint, turned up the radio and started dancing. She grabbed Seth's hand and pulled him close to her. Emily and Sam laughed at something before Sam pulled Emily close to him. Kim and Jared leaned against the counter in the kitchen, in their own world as usual. Mila walked over to me and wrapped her arms around my waist.
"Thank you Embry," she whispered. I smiled down at her and kissed the top of head again. This was a moment I never wanted us to loose. We could stay like this forever and everything would be ok. This was the break we had been asking the Spirits for. Just a time for us all to be happy and free. It had been so long since we had been like this. Caleb had convinced Mila to come into the middle of the living room and dance with him. She threw her head back in laughter as she watched Alex grab Emily's hand and pull her away from Sam. Sam stepped up but Jake put a hand on his chest. Emily looked back nervous as she watched Alex's feet move side to side. Caleb walked up and put his hands on her hips, helping her catch the beat of the song.
Dakota and Rachel ran over and started trying to do the dance moves to. Leah sat on the couch looking like she would rather be anywhere but here. As soon as Claire and Quill walked in, Claire waved at me before running over to Mila. The girls squealed in happiness before Claire passed Mila the bag she was holding behind her bag. Mila looked down it and laughed out loud before hugging Claire. I had no idea what the gift was but it seemed like Mila really liked it. She sat the gift down on the coffee table and went back to dancing with the girls.
Jake walked over to me and passed me an unopened can of soda. I took it and watched as the girls get laughing and dancing. It was then I noticed that the Nessie was missing. She was the only leech that was allowed to step foot on the rez.
"Where's Nessie?"
"She said had plans but said she would be by later."
The distinct howl hit all our ears at the same time. Collin and Brady were on a double patrol. Brady was calling for help. "Stay here," Jake said quickly before turning and running out the door. Sam, Jared, and Paul followed behind him. Alex noticed the hasty exit and started to question it. Caleb quickly played it off and put his attention back on teaching the girls to dance. Mila came over and took my soda. "What's going on?" she asked before putting the can to her lips. I didn't want to worry her but I also didn't want to lie to her.
"Brady called for help."
"Is everything ok?"
"I don't know but I'm sure it is." No sooner had the words left my mouth another howl came out. Mila looked to the door. Jared was calling for help. Quill and Seth came over to my side. "Quill, come with me. Seth stay here and watch the girls." I gave Mila a kiss before running out the front door. I phased as soon as I hit the tree line.
What's going on? I asked.
Five leeches crossed the treaty line. Sam said. The smell was burning my nose as I followed the trail. Sam showed Quill and I where he was. Quill made a right and headed towards Sam and Collin. They had a leech on the run. I kept straight heading towards Jake and Brady. I was almost there when I was pushed from the left. I hit the tree with such force it fell over. I quickly jumped up and ran after the leech that hat hit me. She was fast but I was faster. I quickly jumped over a fallen tree and pounced on her back. Dirt flew up as we crashed into the grown. She reached her arm up in attempt to grab me. As soon as my teeth crashed down on her cold hard skin, I yanked my head back. Her arm flew to the right.
Another snap and I had her neck. The sound of concrete cracking and her screams met my ears. I quickly spit her head out and ran deeper into the forest.
Somebody needs to set the fires. I yelled at the pack.
I'm on it! Leah yelled before phasing out. Jake and Brady were ahead of me. I could see Brady and a leech circling each other. Jake was on top of a leech. Brady and the leech he was after circled around for a little bit. I ran up and tackled the leech while he was distracted. The sound of cracking filled my ears.
"We got him!" Jared said excitedly.
"That leaves one more," Brady said. Leah ran up behind us and set fire to the leech. Jake froze and I could see his ears moving. He was trying to find the leech.
I found her! It's Sabrina! Collin yelled. He showed us where he was and we all took off running. They were getting closer to the treaty line. I didn't know if the Cullen's were waiting but we had to get her. I was tired of chasing behind her. She needed to be killed and stopped before she got to anybody else. The treaty line was up ahead. We had to get to her before she crossed. Sam was right on top of her when she suddenly jumped trying to get across the line. Brady came out of nowhere and jumped trying to get her. Suddenly another leech came from out of nowhere and grabbed Brady.
Sabrina landed across the line and looked back at us. The leech had his arms wrapped around Brady. Suddenly a loud crunch and Brady's howls cut into the air. Sabrina winked at me before turning and running away. Sam and Collin ran over to Brady and the leech. The leech squeezed tighter and I heard more crunching. Collin jumped on the leeches back and grabbed his head. It's like they were in a tug of war. Collin trying to pull the leech off, the leech was trying to hold onto Brady. Collin was able to get the leech off of Brady. Sam quickly jumped on the leech.
Brady laid on the ground whimpering in pain. We needed to get him to phase out so we could get him home. Leah ran up and saw what was going on. It was then I noticed she had a backpack on.
"Phase out guys. I've got shorts for you," she said unzipping her backpack. We phased out and pulled on the shorts. Brady was still whimpering. Leah stood over him.
"Brady you need to phase out. Your bones are starting to set." She told him. Brady stopped whimpering and slowly started to phase back. Jake stepped up and kneeled down next to him.
"We need to get him back to Sam and Emily's."
"What about Mila's friends?" Collin asked.
"Embry take Mila and her friends to your house. When you get back, let Emily and Kim know that we are coming. Guys I need you to help me get Brady back to the house. Leah call Nessie and tell her that we'll need Carlisle and Esme." As soon as he was done talking Leah and I ran towards the house. We could hear everybody laughing and having a good time. When we stepped into the house, I walked straight towards Mila. She was laughing at something Alex said. She turned to look at me and stopped laughing. She turned and ran straight into my arms. As soon as I wrapped my arms around her I felt myself relax.
"Where is everybody else?" she asked me when she noticed it was only me.
"You need to get out of here. Tell Caleb and Alex their staying with us tonight."
"What about Bree?"
"Just do what I said," I said a little stronger than I meant to. I could see that Mila was hurt but she quickly turned and went over to Caleb and Alex. Emily walked over to me and I quickly filled her in on what was going on. Emily's eyes got big and I quickly assured her that Sam was alright. She turned around and told Kim what was going on. Mila quickly said goody bye and lead Alex and Caleb out of the house. They had just pulled off when the guys came out of the woods carrying Brady. Emily and Leah wheeled a bed out into the living room. I had just opened it up when Jake came in with Brady.
Brady was screaming. Kim ran over and quickly put a rolled up towel into his mouth. Seth stood on both sides and held it down.
"Where the hell is Carlisle and Esme?" Jared yelled out. He was on the left side trying to hold Brady still. Two seconds later, the door opened and Carlisle and Esme came in. They quickly stepped on each side and Carlisle looked at Brady. "What happened?"
"One of Sabrina's newborns got to him. I think his arm is broken," Jake told them. Carlisle looked at his arm and shook his head.
"It's more than his arms. And again we are having the issue of his bones starting to reset incorrectly. Esme I need you to give him some morphine."
"But won't he burn it off?" Kim asked concerned.
"Yes he will but we have to give it him. Hold him still," Carlisle said to me and Jared. We held him down as Carlisle started the daunting task of resetting his bones. Two hours later Carlisle was done. He packed up and quickly left with Esme. After making sure Brady was ok in the guest room, I followed Jake out into the living room. The imprints were asleep. Jake scooped Nessie up and told us he would see us tomorrow. Seth grabbed Dakota's hand and followed behind him.
"Embry do you want a ride home?" Dakota asked me. I had forgotten all about the fact that I had told Mila to drive home. I thanked them and followed them out. The ride over we didn't talk much. As Seth pulled up the house, I noticed the lights were all off. Maybe they were sleeping. We had a long night and I couldn't wait until I was able to slide in the bed with Mila. I waved good bye as I walked towards the house. I had taken about two steps when I realized something wasn't right.
I couldn't smell anything but the house. And that was an issue. I should have smelled Mila, Caleb, Alex, and Bree. But I couldn't smell anything other than the house. I quickly ran up the steps and into the house.
"Mila…Mila…BREE…BREE…Alex….Caleb," I yelled out for them as I walked into the house. The lights were off. I quickly called around the house looking for them. There were no answers. They weren't home. My heart started to pound. I ran into the kitchen and grabbed the phone. As I was dialing Mila's number, I noticed a note on the fridge.
Embry,
Bree wanted burger and fries so we are running into town for a quick bite to eat. We'll be back soon. I love you.
Mila
I ripped the note down and pulled my phone out again. This time I started to dial Jake's number. He answered after the third ring. Jake answered on the fourth ring.
"Hey Em, what's up?"
"Mila Bree and the guys aren't here. They went into town."
"We're on our way."
"I can't wait for them. I have to go look for her!"
"Fine we'll head out there. Where exactly did they go in town?"
"She said Bree wanted a burger and fries. I don't know where they went exactly. I'm heading towards Forks now," I told him before I hung up. I phased and took off running towards Forks.
Alright guys, I am so sorry that it's been so long since I've posed. But when I say my life has been crazy...that is an understatement. I literally don't know which way is up right now. That being said I'm going to try my hardest to get these chapters written and up for you guys! Thanks for all the new follows and story favorites. And all the reviews too! I love you guys so much!
