Thirty-Four Mila
We drove for hours. Bree cried a lot at first but eventually she stopped. When I noticed she was falling asleep, I made her lay her head on my shoulder. I kept looking out the window, trying in vain to figure out where we were going. But all highways look the same. Sabrina was driving so fast, I couldn't even read the street signs. Finally Sabrina pulled off the road. We jumbled from side to side as she went down a dirt driveway. I wasn't sure exactly where we were but I guessed we weren't in Forks anymore.
The house looked really out of place in the middle of the forest. The house was a huge contemporary styles house. Sabrina came to a stop and got out the car. The other two vamps grabbed me and Bree and pulled us out. Bree kept struggling and started screaming. Sabrina laughed as she walked towards the front door. "You can scream all you want, nobody is around for miles. No one will hear you scream." She opened the door and we were pushed inside right behind her. The entire house was dark but I knew the vamps had no problem seeing.
She led us to another door and opened it up. I looked into the dark room and then and back to Sabrina.
"Why are you doing this?" I asked her.
"I told you before, they took Jackson. Then they started taking my coven. I want them to suffer. Plus the Volturi will reward me very handsomely if I destroyed the pack."
"At least let Bree go. She doesn't know about any of this. Please I'll stay. You can do whatever you want. Just let Bree go."
"I can do whatever I want?" Sabrina asked laughing. "Look around little girl! I'm already doing whatever I want. You say she doesn't know anything but she smells just like wolf."
"Please let her go. She can go back and tell them where we are. She can lead them here to you," I pleaded with her. Bree stood looking at me, not knowing what was going on. Sabrina looked like she was conceding it before she pushed me and Bree into the garage. Bree ran back to the door and started to pound on it. She screamed and yelled for Sabrina to let us out. I let it go on for as long as I could tolerate it. Suddenly I couldn't anymore. I walked over to her and grabbed her hands.
"Bree stop it! Sabrina isn't going to let us out of here. I told you the guys will find us. We'll be fine but you need to calm down right now. Because the last thing you want to do is go into labor here of all places." I said to her staring her in the eyes. She looked left and right before stepping away from the door. She walked over to the wall and slowly slid down. She wrapped her arms around her knees and dropped her head down. Her shoulders shook with pain as she cried. I wanted to cry to but I knew I couldn't.
"How do you know her?" she whispered after she stopped crying.
"I don't know her. I just crossed her path before."
"Mila what the hell is going on? Why is she talking about wolves and what the hell is the Volturi?"
"I don't know what the Volturi is."
"Well what about the wolves?" she asked. I paused and looked at her. I wanted to tell her. I could tell her right? She was in the middle of all of this now. She had the right to know but there was s code. And no matter how scared I was, I had to honor it. I closed my mouth and shrugged my shoulders. Bree shook her head no and put it back on her knees. I wasn't going to tell her about it that would be Embry's job…if he ever got to us. I took a deep breath and crawled over to Bree. I slipped my arms around her shoulders.
"I don't know what's going on Bree. But I know every time I've been in trouble Embry and the guys have gotten me out of it. They will get us out of this." Bree put her head up and looked at me. Her face was scrunched in confusion.
"Mila are you serious? You can't possibly believe that! Embry and the guys? I don't even know the guys! I barely saw Jake before Embry broke up with me. And since he left me, I haven't seen anybody. Embry hardly checks on me or the baby. If by some miracle they do find us, it won't be because of us. It's going to be because of you. Embry is going to be looking for you…not me."
"How can you say Embry barely checks on you? Every time you call, he comes running-"
"Just like he ran whenever your name was mentioned!" Bree yelled at me "You know my life was perfect before you got here! Perfect. Ever since you've come around things have sucked for me. I lost the man I thought I would marry, I'm back at my parents, and now some psycho bitch you know has kidnapped me. You've literally ruined my life." She shrugged my arm off her shoulders. I sat speechless, not knowing what to say. I had no idea that she really felt this way about me.
"Bree I'm sorry. I had no idea that you felt that way about me…about any of this. You should know that I never meant to make you feel that way. And I know that you don't understand but when I say Embry is going to get us. I mean it. Embry will not stop until he finds us. Even if I wasn't here he wouldn't stop looking for you."
Bree didn't say anything; she just put her head down and started to cry again. I took a deep breath and stood up. The garage wasn't big at all. It was a one car garage. There was one window and it was boarded shut, just the door and the garage door. There was a work bench on the left wall. I could tell at one point tools had hung over it, but now the hooks were all bare. I pulled the drawers open and ran my fingers in them. I let out a frustrated sigh when I realized it was empty. I pulled out the next one to find it empty too. The third and fourth were empty as well. I said a quick prayer as I pulled the drawer out.
My hands rummaged around and I let out a sigh when I realized that was empty as well. I didn't know what I was looking for but I figured having something was better than nothing. Maybe if I found something of use I could try to bust one of the boards off the window or better yet make some kind of hole for Bree to get out of. I shook my head and that dumb idea. Even if I was able to get Bree out of here, Sabrina and her coven would be on us in a second. There really was nothing to do but wait.
By now my eyes had adjusted a little. I still couldn't see one hundred percent but I wasn't totally blind. I felt horrible that Bree thought I ruined her life. I didn't ask for any of this. I had lost Ava, Alex and even Caleb. Bree was right none of this would have happened if I hadn't come back here. I should have stayed gone. Embry and Bree would still be together and everybody else would still be alive. Everything was my fault. Every tear, every fight, all of it was because of me. I walked back over and sat near Bree. I knew she didn't want me to be too close to her.
The doorknob turned and we both looked towards the door. One of the girls who stood next to Sabrina came into the garage. She had a tray with food and water. She sat the tray on the floor and kicked it over to us. As it slid most of the water splashed on the ground. As quickly as she showed up she slammed the door and left. I waited to see if Bree was going to get up. After realizing she wasn't I stood up and grabbed the tray. There were two sandwiches and a small bottle of water. I wasn't hungry at all. I knew I needed to stay hydrated. I took a small sip of water and slid the tray over to Bree.
"You don't need to eat right now but you do need to drink something." I whispered to her. Bree stayed still for a few minutes before she reached out and took a swig from the bottle. Just as I expected she didn't eat any of the sandwhich. Bree finished the water bottle and sat it back on the tray.
"Where do we go the bathroom?" she asked me. I wasn't really sure. It was still dark. I got up and started moving along the walls of the garage. I had made it past two walls when I kicked what I assumed was a bucket. I picked it up and went back over to Bree.
"I found this bucket. We'll just ask to empty it whenever they bring food."
Bree let out a frustrated sigh. "Embry better find us fast." She said before standing up. She grabbed the bucket and moved away from me. As soon as I heard her zipper go down, I started to sing a song.
Embry, I have no idea where you are but I need you to find me. You have to find me Embry.
