Is anybody out there? I would love to get some reviews and know what you guys are thinking! Hopefully I haven't lost everyone.

Forty Five Mila

The first thing I noticed when I opened my eyes is that I wasn't in the forest anymore. Not only was I not in the forest, I wasn't at Embry's or my house either. In fact I didn't recognize where I was at all. I sat up and noticed I wasn't in the hospital but was in fact in a study of some kind. There were books lined up and down the wall.

"Finally you're awake!" Alice said. I turned around and saw Alice walking into the room. She was carrying a tray. "I expected you to be awake 32 minutes ago. I'm usually not wrong about these types of things," she sat the tray down on a desk and walked over to me. I looked around the room and then back at Alice.

"Where am I?"

"You're at my home."

"Your home? Why am I?" I paused as I started remembering what happened. My eyes grew in horror, I started feeling on my neck. I looked at my arms and saw the gauze. "Where is Embry?" I asked jumping off the bed. Alice came over to me and helped me.

"Whoa there! Embry is...around."

"Embry isn't here?" I paused for a second. If Embry wasn't here then that meant I'm a leech. That's the only reason why he wouldn't be here waiting for me to wake up. He was always there but now he wasn't. I started to hyperventilate. "I'm a vampire?! That's why Embry isn't here! I turned and now Embry doesn't love me anymore," I wailed out. Alice stepped in front of me.

"Mila you need to calm down. It's alright really," she was smiling at me but I didn't feel good about what she was saying. Alice smiled at me again before turning around and grabbing a mirror off the tray. She held it up in front of me and I looked at it. I reached my hand up to my face and touched it. My skin was still warm but I didn't look like myself. I looked flawless! My skin looked perfect, my hair was perfect, the dress I had on…wait a minute I was wearing a dress. I wasn't wearing a dress the last time I remembered. I turned and looked at Alice.

"Alice what is going on?" I asked her. "Am I vampire?"

"Not exactly," Carlisle said stepping into the room. "I was able to get most of the venom out. But you do have more in common with Renesmee than just loving a wolf."

"What do you mean?" I asked turning to him.

"When Renesmee was born there was a lot we didn't understand. She is a half breed as you know. Her mother was human when she was born and her father is not. She has powers and maybe immortal but her heart still beats."

"Are you saying that?"

"I'm saying that I was able to get most of the venom out. You aren't dead and you aren't completely changed. Your heart still beats, you were just crying for Embry. But I'm sure you have noticed some of the things that have changed."

"I notice that I look different."

"Is there anything else?" Carlisle asked. I didn't know what he was talking about. Alice stepped up "Focus Mila," she whispered to me. I closed my eyes and I started to focus. I could hear the tv on downstairs, Esme was humming a tune that I didn't know. Japer and Rosaline were laughing. Emmett was mad that Edward was using his mind reading to his advantage. Nessie was screaming as Jake chased her around…my eyes snapped open.

I told them everything I had heard. Alice smiled as Carlisle stepped closer to me. He was smiling to.

"That is amazing Mila really. How do you feel?"

"I feel fine. I just want to-"suddenly my throat started to tingle. My breathing started to falter. Alice stepped over to me. I could see her mouth moving but couldn't make out what she was saying. The sensation in my throat was threatening not to go away. I closed my eyes and started counting. The sensation was getting stronger but I could ignore it. I wasn't sure exactly what was wrong but I was thirsty. I knew that if I was a leech than there was only one thing that I would want.

"Where is Embry?" I asked them through clenched teeth. "I want to see Embry."

"I think you should wait a while before that," Alice said to me. My eyes snapped open and she was standing in front of me. Without thinking I took off running down the stairs. Esme was sitting in the kitchen but she looked like a blue as I ran past. I got outside and wanted to keep running but all the smells stopped me. There were so many smells all around me. I had no idea there could be so many different smells.

"Mila please," Alice said from behind me. "I promise I will take you to see Embry as soon as Carlisle says its ok. We just need to make sure that everything is ok first." Alice was right. I had no idea what was wrong with me. As much as I wanted to be around Embry, I knew that being with the Cullens was the best thing for me right now. They could help me especially Bella and Nessie. I may not have been just like them but I was sure they could help me focus a little. I took a step towards her when I suddenly a new smell hit my nose. It stood out above all the others. I turned around and started running in the trees. The smell was easy to follow. I was moving through the trees and forest with so much ease it was scary. I wanted to turn around but I had to keep going. I didn't know what the smell was but I had to have it.

I made it to the treaty line. I knew I should have stopped but I couldn't help it. I jumped across the river with such ease and landed on the other side. I would have enjoyed the moment but I needed to get the smell. I kept going through the forest, the smell was getting stronger. If I had really been thinking I would have where I was going. But I didn't get it until I was there. I was standing behind Embry's house. It was Embry's smell. My heart started to pound. I started walking towards the house. I could hear laughing from inside.

"Embry you aren't going to break him!" his mother said to him "You need to move faster or else he's gonna pee all over this couch."

"Embry wouldn't care about that," Bree said "He hates this couch." She said before laughing. As soon as I heard Bree's voice I stood frozen in my spot. Bree and EJ were there along with his mother. How long had I been out? I heard a noise behind me and quickly turned around. Alice was behind me.

"Alice you shouldn't be here," I said to her. Suddenly a howl went off. We turned towards the howl and another quickly came back. Embry stopped talking and I heard the door open. I turned back and saw him standing on the porch. Another howl went off and Alice grabbed my arm.

"We need to get back across the line," she said before pulling me behind her. The howls were still going off when another howl sounded. There were no more after that. Alice held my hand tight until we reached the river again. On the other side I saw most of the Cullen's standing on the other side. I knew the rules were clear. A vampire was not allowed to cross the treaty line, no matter what. I had broken that rule. I could have been killed for it. But I wasn't a vampire. Carlisle had said it himself. So I could stay here.

"Mila you can't stay with them. They don't understand you. We can help you," I heard Edward say.

"Mila you know the legends. Come back with us please," Alice said. Edward stepped up and started to think about everything that happened with Nessie. I looked in horror as the pack said they were going to kill her. I was so shocked by what I was seeing it didn't dawn on me that Edward was showing me.

"MILA!"

I turned around and saw Embry standing behind me. His heart was pounding and he was breathing hard.

"Mila…what are you doing here?!" he asked me. His voice was snappy. He stepped toward me. "Mila what are you doing here?!" He asked me. His voice had almost no emotion to it. He was mad but I had no idea why. I should have been the one mad. He wasn't there when I woke up. He had always been there waiting for me to wake up. Every time I had gotten hurt or needed him he was there but this time he wasn't. And he was mad at me!

"MILA!" Embry yelled at me.

"I was looking for you!" I told him. I took a step towards him when some of the pack came and stood behind him. They were growling at me and I was confused. Embry turned was still staring at me. "You guys know the rules. No wolf can hurt another wolf's imprint." One of the wolves growled and snapped at me. Embry turned around and growled back at them. "You know the rules Leah! BACK OFF!" HE turned back around and looked at me. He stepped towards me and it was then I noticed the smell I was chasing was him.

"Mila you aren't supposed to be here," he said to me.

"Why not Embry? Carlisle said that I didn't change. I'm not a leech."

"We don't know what you are Mila. You're different."

"I'm not different Embry. I'm still me. Renesmee-"

"Is Jake's fiancé. She grew up in front of us Mila; we were able to watch her. We've never had to deal with someone like you.'

"Someone like me?" those words pierced my heart and hurt so much. "What are you saying Embry?"

"You know the legends Mila. Cold ones aren't allowed on our land."

"I'm not a cold one Embry." I turned around and saw Carlisle watching us with the group. "Carlisle you need to come and tell him. Tell him I'm not a cold one!" I turned back around and looked at Embry. "We're soul mates. You said that! You know what it's like when we aren't together. We can't be apart."

"Look at me Mila," he said stepping closer to me "Do I look like I've been hurting? Do I look sick?" I looked in his eyes and finally saw what he was talking about. He looked…fine…happy almost. I stepped closer to him. Embry stepped back. Every time I stepped closer to him, he took a step back. I ran over to him and grabbed his hand.

"I'm not a cold one Embry. I know you hear my heart beating, you can feel the heat. I am not one of them, I am Mila. I'm your imprint! You love me Embry!" I didn't know when the tears started to fall but I didn't bother to wipe them away. I had been through so much and all I needed was him. I needed Embry and he was telling me that I couldn't have him. Embry wrapped his hand around my wrist and pulled it off.

"Until we know what we are, you can't come here. I can't leave here; I have responsibilities to my pack, to my people, and to my son. Don't come back Mila," he said before walking away from me. He walked past the wolves, away from me. I stepped up but was quickly stopped by a hand on my shoulder. I turned around and saw Renesmee standing behind me. "He just needs time Mila," she whispered to me. Time? Embry needed time? But what about what I needed? I shrugged her hand off mine and jumped back across the treaty line.

The Cullen's stepped up when I landed but I quickly ran away from them. I ran back to their house. There were three cars parked in the driveway. The first two I went to were locked but the Jeep was wide open. Literally. The doors were off and the keys were still in the ignition. I hopped in and started it up.

"I figured you would need a getaway," a smooth voice said on the side of me. I looked to the left and saw Caleb sitting next to me. I wrapped his arms around him and hugged him as tight as I could. His arms were around me but he was making sure he wasn't squeezing me to tight. He pulled away from me and gently cupped my face. I was crying but I was still happy. Every time I needed Caleb he always managed to show up.

"But how did you-" I asked him through my tears.

"Alice ended up finding me. After you guys left I was wondering around literally. Alice sent Rosalie to find me after the whole rest stop fiasco. I was learning the new way of life while they were trying to get you and Embry back. When they bought you back, I could tell something was off. Esme told me what happened when I came back from hunting. I put two and two together when I saw you appear by yourself. So where do you want to go?"

"Anywhere but here Caleb," I told him. I sat back in my seat and took a deep breathe.

"You can't leave us!" Alice said. When I opened my eyes, Alice was standing next to me. "We just got you and Caleb."

"I can't stay here Alice. I need some time to myself, just me and Caleb."

"It's not time by yourself if he's with you."

"I am her best friend!" Caleb cut in "If you're going to miss her that much Alice, why don't you come with us."

Alice gasped and then smiled. "I thought you would never ask," she said hopping in the back. Jasper walked out the house, followed by Rose and Emmett, and Carlisle and Esme. They all had bags packed. I looked at Alice confused.

"I wasn't sure if you were going to invite us along, so I told everyone to be prepared just in case. Edward and Bella have to stay behind for a few days. And before you ask, we are going shopping when we get there."

"And where exactly is there?"

"She's gonna love this," Alice said to Jasper. She passed Caleb and I an envelope. I opened it up and slid the contents out. A passport and an airline ticket fell in my lap. I picked up the passport and was surprised to find my picture and my real name printed inside. I picked the ticket up and slid it out. As soon as I read it, I started to scream. There in black and white was a first class ticket to Paris! Suddenly the fact that Embry didn't want me anymore didn't matter. Well it mattered but if this was what he wanted, then I was going to give it to him. And what better place to get over a broken heart; than the fashion capital of the world?

If this was what I had to look forward to being whatever it was, then I was ready for it. Caleb let out a cheer as we pulled out of the driveway. We all fell into line as we traveled towards the airport. Caleb and Alice were busy talking about what they were going to do when we got there. I couldn't help but think of Embry and started to feel a little sad. But as quickly as the feeling came, it disappeared and I was filled with anticipation about going to Paris.
