Fifty Embry

Caleb and I made it back to the hospital. Caleb ran into the hospital while I ran over to the guys.

"How nice of you too show up Embry," Brady said sarcastically.

"What's wrong with you?"

"You know you really are an ass," Brady said before turning and walking away from me. I turned to Jake confused. "Jake look I don't know what Brady's problem is but you have to help-"

"Mila is gone," Jake said to me. I stopped talking and stared at him.

"What do you mean gone?"

Jake let out a frustrated sigh and held his hand out to me. The ring I had given Mila was in his palm. She was really gone.

"Jake you have to help me get her back."

"Get her back? Get her back for what Embry? She waited for you, as long as she could, she waited for you to come back and say good bye but you didn't. How could you do that to her?"

I opened my mouth to say something when Caleb ran over to me.

"She's already gone. Maybe we can catch her at home?" he asked. His voice was full of hope.

"Let's go," I said to him. Jake grabbed my arm and stopped me.

"What the hell is going on?"

"We need to get Mila back. She's not safe with her mother," I said to Jake. His face instantly became alarmed. He pulled his keys out and turned towards his truck. Caleb and I followed behind him. Brady didn't ask anything as we all climbed inside. Jake quickly pulled off and headed towards La Push. I slcoed my eyes and said a quick prayer that Mila would be there. I hoped she wouldn't be too upset to me to see that she needed to stay with me.

The Gods must have been busy. We pulled up at the house and there was no other car there. I ran inside hoping that Mila would be there but she wasn't. Caleb came in behind me. "Is she here?"

"No but all of her things are still here. Maybe they didn't make it back yet?"

"Or maybe Lira didn't bring her back here at all. Call her Embry."

I pulled my phone out and dialed her number. The phone went straight to voicemail. I hung up and called two more times, hoping she would pick up. She didn't answer. I sent her a text begging her to call me.

"She didn't answer," I said. Caleb let out a frustrated sigh.

"Where is she going? Maybe we can just go to her," he said hopefully. We both looked to Jake and Brady. Jake shrugged his shoulders. Brady shook his head no.

"She just said goodbye. She didn't say where she was going. Her mom never came over to talk to us either. I didn't hear anything being said."

"Me either," Jake said.

"So what do we do now?" Caleb asked. They all turned to look at me. I dialed Mila again, only to not get an answer.

"We can't do anything but wait now. I'm going to lay down," I said to them. I didn't wait for them to say anything else to me before walking out the living room. I walked into my bedroom and shut the door behind me. Every breath I took, I could smell her. I went over to the bed and sat down. As I looked up at the floor, I couldn't stop the tears that started to fall. This wasn't fair. We could never catch a break. My hands clenched into a fist and the ring dug into my palm.

Feeling the pain, I opened my hand and saw the ring. Suddenly, I was filled with rage. My arms started to shake. I needed to calm down before I phased in my bedroom. I took slow, deep, calming breaths before falling back on the bed.

"Mila, you have to come back to me. I can't be without you," I whispered. I closed my eyes and wasn't surprised when her face popped into my mind. I needed to get her back and all I could do at this moment was wait.
