~A warning sign
I missed the good part, then I realised
I started looking and the bubble burst
I started looking for excuses
Come on in
I've gotta tell you what a state I'm in
I've gotta tell you in my loudest tones
That I started looking for a warning sign
When the truth is, I miss you
Yeah the truth is, that I miss you so~
Camila kneeled down, facing the crying porcelain skin brunette, slowly extending her arm, grabbing her shoulder gently; Lauren shuttered at the feeling. The touch of the caramel skin girl's hand taking her by surprise, causing her to bat her eyes through the tears, brown flooded ones meeting her gaze.
Why is SHE crying? The sight in front of her threw her off completely, her heart racing as fast as her mind.
She continued to gaze into chocolate brown orbs, tears streaming down from them as they began to tug on the older brunette's heartstrings. The green-eyed girl quickly got to her feet, taking a step back, away from the younger brunette, not wanting to get caught up in her brown eyes, scared that she would crumble to pieces, even more so, in front of her.
Lauren began to wipe her tears with the palm of her hand, "since we're both out here, face to face, might as well say the things I SHOULD'VE said months ago," she said between her sobs as she watched the brown eyed girl stand on her feet, "what's the BEST damn thing you lucked in to?" she chuckled, her green eyes still glossy, "if someone were to ask me," her lips pulled to a half smile, even through her heart ache, "my answer would be you…mine would be you," she broke eye contact, looking at the ground, "what's the greatest chapter in your book," she let out a puff of air almost as if asking herself the questions, emerald orbs still on the ground, "what's the ONE regret you can't work through…" she swallowed the pain in her throat as she brought her gaze to lock with glossy brown eyes, "…it's you."
~A warning sign
It came back to haunt me, and I realised
That you were an island and I passed you by
And you were an island to discover
Come on in
I've gotta tell you what a state I'm in
I've gotta tell you in my loudest tones
That I started looking for a warning sign~
***Flashback***
Camila and Lauren had been dating for a few months. They were practically attached to each other, spending the night at each other's homes, stealing kisses in between classes, the older girl staying behind after school just to watch the younger brunette run routines with the squad, the caramel skin beauty attending debate meets just to support the green-eyed girl, whatever it was, they were always with each other. As of late, both their schedules seemed to get busier, especially since Lauren began to prep for her S.A.T., she didn't have much time, if any at all.
The frustrated brunette ran her fingers through her hair as she sat at her desk, staring into her study guide, looking at the words as her green eyes began to crisscross; she's been staring at them for so long.
"This is ridiculous," she said to herself as she shook her head.
~CREAK~
Her door slowly creaked open as she swiveled her chair around wondering who it was. Her lips began to curve into a smile at the vision in front of her, her heart swelling as she was met with bright, beautiful brown eyes.
"Hi," she said softly, a brown bag in hand and a cup of coffee as she made her way towards the older brunette still sitting on her chair, not a peep out of her smiling mouth, "coffee, black, just like you like it," the brown eyed girl put the coffee on the desk as she stood next to an amused brunette, "and cronuts," she placed the brown bag next to the coffee cup, turning her loving chocolate orbs to meet shimmering green ones, leaning down to place a kiss on her girlfriend's lips, meshing with one another, so soft, so gentle before she pulled away, waiting for green eyes to come into view, still not a peep out of the porcelain skin beauty, "I know you've been studying for hours," she brushed fair skin with the back of her hand, "I wanted to make sure you had coffee and something to eat," she cupped the older girl's face, placing a lingering kiss on her lips, "I'll see you later beautiful," she began to turn away towards the door.
Lauren grabbed her hand, spinning her back around onto her lap, "you didn't think I would just let you walk away now did you?" Camila scrunched her nose playfully, shaking her head no, "so you just came here," the older brunette tucked a few strays behind the younger girl's ear letting her green eyes look deeply into glistening brown ones, "just to bring me coffee and cronuts," the caramel skin brunette batted her lashes, nodding her head up and down, "you're THE BEST, you know that?"
Camila shrugged her shoulders, playing it off, "it's nothing-"
Lauren cut her off, crashing their lips together, "it's NOT nothing, you're the best," their foreheads remained touching, "I don't know how I ever got so lucky," she smiled shaking her head in disbelief as she cupped the younger brunette's face, "I love you," she breathe onto her lips that slowly pulled to her brown eyes.
***End of Flashback***
~When the truth is, I miss you
Yeah the truth is, that I miss you so
And I'm tired, I should not have let you go
Oooooooo
So I crawl back into your open arms
Yes I crawl back into your open arms
And I crawl back into your open arms
Yes I crawl back into your open arms~
Lauren shook her head as she began to chuckle slightly, "I mean who does that?" her eyes turning towards the sky before bring them back to meet chocolate orbs, "I mean…who brings you coffee and cronuts just because?" she chuckled out as she sniffled, "I missed the good part, I screwed up, I missed the warning sign," she shook her head as she reminisced, "I KNEW," she nodded, "these last few months, I missed you so much, I STILL miss you," the younger brunette took a step forward, her eyes teary, "I'm so tired of missing you Camz, I shouldn't have let you go," she shook her head, her green eyes releasing tears once again, "I should've held onto you a little tighter, I should've kissed your lips whenever I got the chance, I should've looked into your brown eyes a little deeper, then maybe, JUST MAYBE you would've seen how much I loved you and you wouldn't have walked away with your heart…"
Camila took another step, leaving little room between them, "Lauren…"
"I'm sure you probably think I shouldn't still love you or say it," the porcelain skin beauty said in between her muffled sobs, "but I DO, I LOVE YOU and it wouldn't make sense not to say it because I still feel it," she confessed, she needed to, she wanted to, "and when we meet one day and you're with whoever you've fallen in love with," her voice cracked as she let out the words, "all that was there, my love for you," Camila took another step, they were inches apart, "it will be there still," she looked into watery brown eyes through her own, "and I'll just let it pass…just let you think I've moved on," the flood gates opened as her tears streamed down her face from her emerald orbs.
"Lauren…" the brown-eyed girl wrapped her arms around the broken hearted brunette, "it's you," she said barely audible, her voice hoarse through her own tears.
The older brunette popped her head up, their eyes locking with each other, "what?" she said in between pants.
"Both times," she could barely breathe out, "I fell in love with you twice," she whispered out between breaths.
Lauren closed her eyes shut for a second, letting the words sink in before she opened her eyes, "Camz…" she cupped her face, wiping the younger girl's tears with her thumbs, "do you still love me?"
"Lo…I-I" she stuttered out.
"Camila…" she said as her heart quickened even more, "I need to know…are you still IN LOVE WITH ME?"
