Chapter 9

Eleazar's POV

"Danny, I want you to try the bean dip. I think you might like it. You too, Suri. Don't give me that look, little girl, you have to try new things from time to time. You can eat a little unhealthy from time to time. It's all healthy in moderation." Tanya told her daughter as Suri gave her a pleading look to not make her eat the unhealthy dip.

"But, Momma..."

"Suri, indulge your mother. Besides your mother speaks the truth. Trying new things can only broaden your horizon and make life more enjoyable." Ezra told his oldest daughter as she still continued looking at the light tan mexican side with a look of disgust that would put Simon Cowell's to shame.

Suri looks at her mom, "And if I don't like it, I don't have to eat anymore?"

"Yes, you won't have to eat anymore if you don't like it." Tanya pacified her child. Suri took the tiniest scoop of bean dip, from the bowl and onto her plate and took the smallest portion of the already small portion and put it into her mouth. Everyone watched her as she decided if she enjoyed the dip or not.

Deciding she did. "You were right, Momma. It is good."

Tanya turns to Edward. "See? Always right." Edward chuckled at the strawberry blonde vampire.

"So" Carlisle started, "What will we have to expect first when the Volturi gets here? What is it they do?"

"Well, first a guard comes and informs all the families, not at the courtyard, when the Volturi arrives. Then all the families gather in the courtyard. We each set up a booth. Have you ever been to a human swap meet? Where each booth has something to offer to the people walking by? It's a lot like that." I try to explain to the newcomers. "Then at the end of the booths, is the Volturi's booth. They want to be able to meet each vampire child to make sure everything is alright at home and that they are happy. Or if a vampire wants to start having children, they will see the Queen."

Alice looked up at the mention of Bella and asked, "Is she happy? The Queen"

I looked at my wife seeing how we should answer this question. Thankfully, she saw my dilemma,

"She is the most protected and loved vampire in the world. She has a loving coven and children all around her. She was the one that turned the most blood thirsty coven into a whole, loving, peaceful family. From what I gather when we see her, she is very happy."

Alice smiled a tentative smile and turned to Jasper and whispered, but due to everyone's superhuman hearing, everyone heard, "I hope she forgives us for how we abandoned her."

All the Cullen's nodded in silent agreement.

At that moment, there was a knock on the door. There was a moment of silence as we all waited for someone to get up to open the door. As Ezra saw this internal debate on everyone's face, he slid his chair back. Everyone wincing a little at the loud screeching noise the chair made, scraping against the floor.

Ezra's POV

I could feel everyone's eyes on my back as I went to open the door. I don't really understand what the big deal was. I was guessing it was one of the Volturi guards coming to tell everyone the royal family had arrived. However, I already had my suspicions about which guard it would be. Before I had reunited with my mate, Tanya. I had fought alongside the volturi against the extermination of the werewolves. I hate werewolves with every fiber of my being.

When I was still human, and engaged to Tanya, I had gone on a hunting trip with friends that I had grown up with since birth. I had been tracking a wolf, and had been separated from the hunting group because I had wanted to catch the wolf on my own. I wanted to show Tanya that I could provide for her on my own, and not just with my parents money. Having seen the size of the paw print, I had known it was going to be a huge wolf. I had been lost in my own thought and had not heard the wolf come up behind me. The only thing I remember about the attack was the pain and the bloody messy I had been. What was odd, was that the wolf had not just killed me quick and easy. It had dragged out the attack, making it even more excruciating than it should have been. Whatever the wolf's reason was for being sadistic, it had saved me. The men I went hunting with were able to scare of the wolf with a bullet to the leg. However, they had not gotten there in time for me to be able to continue with my human life.

I do not even remember how, I'll have to ask Tanya later, but my friends rushed me to the nearest doctor. When the doctor told them that there was nothing he could do to save me, one of them had gone to get Tanya. When they had arrived at the doctor's house, I knew I had only a few more minutes to live. I had tried to hold on until Tanya could arrive and I had succeeded.

"Oh, Ezra." Was the first thing she said as she sat down by the bed and grabbed my hand.

"I guess I wasn't as lucky this time, huh?" I told her as I tried to lessen the somber mood that had settled in the room.

She let out a breathless laugh, "You would be the one to try and make jokes at a time like this."

I smiled at her. We stayed silent, enjoying the others company for what we had thought would be the last time.

"I will never love another the way that I love you."She whispered to me. I brought my hand up to wipe away the tears that were rolling down her cheek.

"I pray to God that you do." Then I was submerged in darkness.

The next thing I remember, was waking up in the forest, in the exact spot that I was attacked. A man, with light blonde hair that came down to his shoulders and red eyes, was staring down at me.

"Why am I here? How am I here? I am supposed to be dead."

He laughed a humorless laugh, "I am apologize for not saving you before when the werewolf was attacking you, the humans arrived before I could. Then I thought you would want to say goodbye to your lover."

"I'm so confused."

He rolled his eyes,"Well, I guess I am going to have to explain everything to you, now aren't I? When the werewolf attacked you, I wanted to save you, but your human friends got in the way and I cannot expose myself to humans. And I thought if I had killed them, you would not have been so inclined to join the cause that I need you to. So I waited until after the human girl had passed out from hysteria and I had taken you under the pretense that I was sent to by your family to collect you and bury you. I had to be quick because I knew there was not much time left to turn you."

"Turn me into what?"

"Into what I am. A vampire."

As I had processed all of the new information, one thing this vampire had said, caught my attention. "You said it was a werewolf that had attacked me."

"So you caught that. Good. Yes, it was a werewolf. Which is what brings me to the reason why I turned you. My people, vampires, need more vampires who are willing to help hunt down and end the werewolf population. They have gotten too out of control and humans are starting to become aware of their existence and that could eventually lead them to our existence. So we need to control the situation before it gets out of hand. And I thought, who would be more loyal to the cause than a fellow vampire who's mortal life had been cut short by the very thing that we're are trying to get rid of?"

"So you turned me so I could help you hunt down and kill werewolves?"

"Precisely."

"Why can't I just go back to my old life?"

"You are a newborn vampire, you cannot control your thirst yet. You would probably kill them before you started a in a few decades you can come back and check up on your humans. But until then, you can't come back unless you wish to slaughter the very ones you are trying to see."

Understanding his reasoning I went with him. I met with his group of vampires that I was going to hunt alongside of. I learned how to battle. How to hunt. What my sire had said was true. I had a need to make sure every werewolf was caught and killed. Each one I killed, felt good in a way. It felt like I getting my revenge on them for taking away the future that I could have had. By the time I had controlled my thirst, I was too late. I went back to my home village to see how Tanya was. I thought I was going to be seeing her with gray hair and a few grand kids surrounding her. But when I got there, I had learned the truth. Tanya had disappeared a few years after I had been turned. There was no trace of her. Not even her parents knew what had happened to her. It was not for a few more centuries, that I had even considered the thought that she could have been turned into a vampire. So I had asked a vampire that had been a true friend to me, to see if he could sense her. Because he is a tracker, he can sense anyone in the world. He told me he could sense her and he left with me to find her.

Shaking myself out of my memories, I opened the door. Seeing my sire at the doorstep, I greeted him with a hug, "Caius, it's so good to see you."

Did any of you catch where I got that death scene from? Comment if you know where that death scene is from and tell me if you cried as much as I did. Also, tell me if you had enjoyed Ezra's little backstory there. I'm a little unsure if you guys will like it but I wanted to have one person in the Denali coven be close with the Volturi, so that there would be a bond there. Thanks for sticking with this story! I hope this chapter was good enough. I am already thinking of ideas for the next chapter! Also I will be updating the next chapter for my Bella and Jacob story sometime this weekend or next week. So go check it out, reread it an get caught up for the next chapter coming shortly! Happy almost Mothers Day to all the moms, if there are any, reading this!
