Christian's POV
'How the fuck do you manage to miss this?' I growled at Sawyer.
'Sir… we had no idea this could ever be done.'
'Oh…really.' I replied sarcastically as I faced him. 'Then why the fuck do I pay you Sawyer?'
'Sir…'
'Don't sir me right now… Grab every piece information you can get your hands on… I want all files classified or not, retouched or not about the Christenfeld's and anyone who had any contact with them.' I ordered as I took a look at the envelope that I received earlier.
'Yes Sir…'
'I want the cameras doubled around here, change all the codes around for the alarm system, I want every square inch of this house surveyed at every second of the day… Am I clear?'
'Yes Sir…' He replied as he stood up and made his way out of the living room.
I couldn't believe that she could take it this far. I knew she was able to do anything she likes… but she planned this perfectly till the last detail. How could I have not kept tabs on her? 'Fuck' I thought to myself as I sipped bourbon.
'Hey…' Ana said as she came from behind me. 'How are you?'
'I don't know Ana…' I replied as I turned facing.
'I heard you growling…'
'Ana… you heard it with me…'
'I know… I know…' She replied as she went to the couch.
'How is she?'
'Your parent's are checking her over…' She replied in tears. 'I was with her… I couldn't take the sight… She's bruised… burnt all over…' She continued. 'I don't think she'll be able to pick up the pieces again Christian… this… this would tear her apart…'
'She has us Ana… we'll pick them up for her…'
'This is different Christian… she loved this Eric or whatever he's called…'
'…but we love her more…' I replied as I sat beside her and held her tight to me. 'Shh baby… everything will be ok…'
'Is it Christian? Because this whole thing is fucked up!' She said again as my parent's entered the room.
'Christian… Is it a good time?' My mother asked.
'Yeah… come in…' I replied while Ana quickly fixed herself. 'How is she?'
'She hasn't said a word…' My mother replied.
'Physically…She needs time to heal… you need to change the dressings every 3 to 4 hours. We prescribed some pain killers, she may need something to calm her down.' My father continued as he handed us the prescriptions while I moved back to the cabinet and filled another shot. 'Christian, do you think it's wise to drink?' My father stopped me and took the glass away.
'Yeah… like there is anything wise in this situation…' I replied back.
'What is it Christian? What's wrong?' My mother asked again.
'This is wrong mum… this is what's wrong… He fucked her up…' I replied. 'My past caught up to me again… and she is in the middle…'
'What are you saying?' She asked again. 'I don't get it…'
'…and you won't… damn… she planned this till the very last detail…' I relied.
'Who she?'
'Elena Lincoln…' Ana replied.
'What?' My mother asked astonished. 'I don't understand… I thought I told her to stay clear away from you that night when…'
'She did stay clear mum… she managed to make a brilliant plan where she wouldn't have to touch anything.'
'Christian, please explain clearly…' My father replied again.
'Ok… do you remember 27 years ago I had done a business deal with the Christenfeld's?'
'Yes… their project was failing…'
'I bought it because I saw potential in it. I renovated it and refurbished it, and in few weeks' time it was back on its feet and the stocks were never better. By time the word got out, the Christenfeld's discovered this… they wanted half of the sales profit claiming that it was theirs…'
'Christian opened and court file and he won…' Ana continued as my parents took a seat.
'Since then the Christenfeld's lost a lot in figuring out new projects… only they failed and with it they lost a lot of money… so I bought half of the company…'
'Let me guess, and it blossomed…' My father replied.
'Yes… this time they wanted the company back… only I didn't give it back…' I continued.
'Ok…' My mother continued. '…but I don't get how this affected this situation. Sera was in an abusive relationship.'
'It's not that easy Grace…' Ana replied. 'We were played.'
'I don't see how Elena has anything to do with this.' My father added.
'It does dad… because Eric Christenfeld is actually Eric Lincoln Christenfeld…' I explained while they remained staring at me.
'Elena is Eric's mother?'
'Surrogate mother…' Ana added. '26 years ago the Christenfeld's had been trying for kids and they couldn't… Bradly and Elena… they share a history…' I explained. 'He told her about his situation and they agreed that she'll be a surrogate mother for his offspring.'
'I still don't get it.'
'Elena and Bradly share a common thing… hate towards me…' I explained. 'She told him that someday she'll be returning for her Jewel to put me straight… and 25 years later…' I left the words dangling.
'…and how do you know all of this?' My mother asked.
'…because mother, when we returned home this morning I found this envelope waiting for me.' I continued as I gave them everything and they opened it.
'CHECK MATE… GAME OVER GREY…' They read aloud. 'COME AND MEET ME AT 11 AM SHARP…. YOU KNOW WHERE…' The continued.
'Check mate is the building where their project was held…' I explained. 'When I went to talk to Eric… I missed his line… and it came back to me. He told me that she needed guidance. Elena always told me that… I could have made the mathematics and linked everything.'
'Christian don't torture yourself…' Mum tried.
'How can I mum? I should have picked it up…' I said again as I ran my hands through my hair.
'Christian… did you go to meet her?' My father asked.
'Yes… I had to see what she had to tell me…'
'As we made the connection we ran checks and Sawyer brought along the legal papers on everything that Christenfeld had with Lincoln… That's where we realized that Elena is Eric's surrogate mother. ' Ana explained.
'But what does check mate has to do with this?' My father asked again as I handed him the file.
'This dad…' As he stood dumbstruck with the information presented.
'She has dirt on us…'
'…on me…' I cut off Ana. 'Sera was the bait.' I admitted chokingly.
'She knows that by getting to her, it will ruin Christian…' Ana continued.
'Christian you have to do something…' My father tried. 'You have a case here… Abduction, abuse…'
'I can't dad… I can't…' I replied. 'There is no one who can testify in my favour… it's her word against mine… and she also has disclosed information about Jason's death… If I do open the case against her and the Christenfeld's I'll… we'll be facing more repercussions.' I explained.
'Christian, we can testify for you…' My father suggested. 'I helped you start your company… I know everything about it…'
'Dad… It's not that simple. When I started GEH, Elena had provided me with $100,000 to start with. She also provided my submissives…'
'…and where is Eric included in this mishap?' My father asked.
'She started him into BDSM, only worse than mine…' I explained. 'They knew one thing… Touching my family would destroy me… so what's better than inserting emotions for her judgement to be clouded?' I started.
'The meeting on the plane was set up by the Christenfeld's and Elena…' Ana explained. 'They had inside help…' She continued.
'Christian…'
'Yeah… they kept tabs on us… I already fired the person responsible.' I explained.
'Who was it?' My father demanded.
'The house keeper…' Ana replied. 'I had found her rummaging a couple times around, but I never thought she was passing on information. I always thought she was like Gail cleaning every inch.' She continued. 'How could I be so stupid!'
'She passed on some security tapes… she disabled some alarms…' I continued. 'She passed all the information on what we were doing… everything… we were spied on mum…' I continued.
'Eric was the master that led us into the lion's den… led Sera into the lion's den…' I continued. 'Elena knew that having the story repeating itself would tear everything… and she successfully managed to do so… she tore my kid down…' I chocked again as I sat down in defeat.
'Christian… you need to lay down the law!'
'How can I dad? If I do so this will be all over the news and my daughter will be a headline on the front page /'DAUGHTER OF CEO – A SUBMISSIVE'/'
'Christian we'll do all it takes to get these people behind bars…' My father said again.
'Dad I cannot let you testify for us. I don't want Elena to start another ploy against you too now… I need to keep you all safe…'
'Christian you cannot control the damned world.' My mother threw in irritation.
'…but I can control what happens to my family.'
'Christian… she corrupted my 15 year old son. She cannot say anything about that…' My mother tried again.
'Mum, I'm not going to let your reputation go down with us.'
'Christian… what is our reputation when our own son and his family is in jeopardy?' Mum reasoned.
'Mum dad, it's not that I don't want your help… but this is complicated.'
'Christian for once just shut up and let us help you!' My father threw back. 'You never ask us for anything… and you were always by our side when we needed you… It's time we'll return the favour.' He said again.
'Damn… I don't know what to do anymore…' I broke down. 'First they take my son away from us… now they take my daughter…' I crumbled as Ana came forward and rubbed my back.
'Christian… you still have your daughter…'
'How do I have her mum? How?' I asked lost for answers. 'I'm supposed to be her father… I'm supposed to have all the answers… I'm supposed to keep my family safe… keep her safe from everything…'
'What are you saying son?' Dad asked again.
'I don't deserve to be a father. I let my son get killed in front of my eyes, and now my daughter… she's lost… I regret having kids…' I sulked.
'Christian you don't mean it…' My mother tried again.
'Mum… I almost lost her today… she ran to him rather than me… Maybe this is it… she doesn't trust us enough… this was the catch to her forgiving us immediately… and I don't blame her…'
'You regret having us…' I heard a voice from behind me as all of us looked at the person behind me.
'Sera…' I quickly stood up.
'You regret Jason and I?' She asked while rubbing her elbows.
'Shit…' I replied as I moved forward and hugged her tight. 'Baby… that's not what I meant…' I tried as she pushed me away.'
'What did you mean then dad?' She asked again as her eyes glistened.
'Baby… I couldn't keep you safe from…' I stopped in my tracks.
'You cannot keep anyone safer dad…' She stopped me. 'I went to him… It was my fault…' She continued.
'Peanut…'
'No… It was wrong of me to… to leave the house without telling either you or mum… and I deserve what happened. I should have been more open minded…' She admitted. 'I thought… I thought you were lying to me… you never liked him…'
'I never did Sera…'
'I know…' she replied, as she let her head drop in defeat.
'We'll leave you three alone…' My father said as they got up. 'Christian, call if you need anything…' He said before they left. Ana stood up and took Sera into her arms. She guided her gently to the couch gently.
'You were right…' She whispered again in tears. I moved beside them, and held her tight to my chest. 'You were right…' She kept mumbling. 'How could I be so stupid…'
'Sera… what happened?' I asked her. There was something that had shown her the through colours of Eric. There was something for sure.
'When… he… He said that he loved me first… that there was no girl… that's why I went… It's… I wanted to confront him…' She replied. 'I wanted to hear it myself… When mum told me… It's not that I didn't believe her… but… I wanted the satisfaction of him telling me in my face…' She explained. '…but he promised me that it's because you don't want him… and because you're jealous. In a way it made sense…' She continued. '…but it's not excuse to what I did…' She cried again.
'Sera… tell me… what did he tell you?'
'He told me to trust him…' She continued. '…when he told me that he's not actually 20… It rang bells, but when I asked him why he said because he loved me… and you always told me that who loves you will cross mountains… so I thought that maybe because he wanted me so much he lied…'
'Sera… we did teach you that but you shouldn't take it that radical…' Ana explained.
'I know mum… I'm sorry…'
'Sera did he tell you something else?'
'Before you came in…' She started again. 'He got up and fixed himself and started laughing. He said how stupid I am to fall for everything… how easily fooled I can be. He said how it was true that he was with another girl… he told me everything… about how you went to find him yesterday… and how you told him to stay away… only that it was easier because he knew that when you tell me I was going to clarify anything.'
'Peanut, I know you wanted to do the right thing… I know you wanted to face the music alone… but when it comes to guys, you shouldn't face this alone! He could have killed you…' I reasoned. 'You should always wait for us and tell us what you're doing…'
'I know dad… I'm sorry…' She said again. 'Do you really regret having us?'
'No… no… never…'
'Please dad… don't give up on me…' She cried.
'I won't baby…'
'I screwed up big time haven't I?' She asked in defeat.
'It wasn't your fault…' I tried again.
'I went there… it is my fault… you told me to stay away and I had to be a stupid… I stole your car… I escaped… I lied… I cheated…' She chocked.
'Stop Sera…' Ana tried as she motioned with her eyes to leave them alone. She knew exactly how to handle this.
Ana's POV
The last thing she needed is her father hearing anything that the bastard did to her. Woman to woman would be easier… I could talk her through this. Women feel heart breaks worse than guys… at least that's what my mother always taught me. She felt at fault at what everything happened. She blamed herself on going to him… on believing… on falling for him…
He went with 6 different names… each and every time all girls fell for him. We managed to bring all information on his submissives. All of the girls he seduced. It tore my heart out when I saw the picture of the 15 year old. A blonde blue-eyed beauty. She was so innocent, so beautiful. I could only imagine what her parent's went through… she's still in a mental hospital today… he ruined her life…
I held her tighter… for now I couldn't show her anything… but when the time was right… I had to tell her everything she had to know… maybe she could move on.
'Baby… I know it's hard… but you will get through this…'
'I trusted him instead of you mum…'
'Shh baby…' I tried again. 'Maybe Christian should tell her about his experience through this…' I thought to myself. 'I know how hard this may be…'
'It's… Mum I betrayed your trust… you gave me one simple order… wait for me till I come back… That's what you told me… and what did I do… the exact opposite…'
'Shh baby…'
Christian's POV
She's exactly like me. Exactly when Elena did that to me. She still didn't comprehend the damage… the pain… She was guilty on betraying us. This is deeper than anything. Soon my phone started vibrating into my pocket.
'Grey…' I chocked out.
'It's Taylor… We found Jacqueline Sir…' He replied. 'It's not a nice scene…'
'What is it Taylor?'
'She's dead Christian… She's been tied, and beaten up…' He replied. '…but we found major information. The FBI are here…' He continued while I closed my eyes in pain. They got rid of their accomplice. It was easier for them. 'Sir?'
'Yeah… I'll be down…' I replied. 'Don't move anything… I think we got something…' I said before I hung up. There were information that we could get the Christenfeld's and Elena back… I will put them behind bars. One way or another.
