Christian's POV
It's been only a day that she's been away from us, and the pain is literally killing me. I want my baby with me. I want her home… I want her to come into my study and discuss things, even if we end up bickering. I miss those moments… I miss when she was younger. I'd rather have all that time back rather than now…
I moved into her room and brought out her baby album. I sat on the edge of the bed, and pulled one of her teddy bears. She never let it go of her grasp. I had given it to her back when she had the chicken pox, and she never left it from her sight. Except now… It still had her scent. So pure… yet sweet. Just like her. I started viewing the pictures. She was so young, such a sweetheart. I wanted to still hold her like that, where she reached for me from the height I used to raise her onto. Her first trial in swimming… her first mouthful… her first steps…
'I'm glad I kept these…' Ana took me out of my thoughts as she came beside me.
'Yeah… I've never been glad in my life that we have these… The only thing we have left Ana…' I chocked.
'You're missing her aren't you?'
'A lot Ana… She seemed happy on the phone call…'
'She is Christian…'
'Why did she grow up? Why did Carter have to marry her? She's so young!'
'We were younger Christian…'
'…but she's our baby Ana… we could have put a stop to it.'
'Christian! Be sensible about this!'
'I am being sensible about this!' I replied.
'Yeah… by wanting to keep this happiness from her? You're being a bit selfish and hypocrite if you ask me. We got married because we love each other… we fled from our parents' nest. It's time she did the same!'
'But…'
'No buts Christian… We have to be supportive in their marriage… You'll get used to this soon enough…'
'How can you say that Ana? Don't you miss her?'
'Hell yeah I do… but I'm trying to look at the brighter bigger picture. Our daughter is happy Christian. She wants this… and Carter and Sera love each other.'
'What if?' I started. 'What if we go and meet them in Paris Ana? We wanted to go again… we can do it now… Come on… I'll go make the reservations…'
'Christian!' She stopped me. 'They're on their honeymoon. We're not going to France to meet them!'
'Oh come on! They'll be happy to see us!'
'Or disappointed! Christian they both need some private time… just like we did… remember?'
'You think they'll…'
'Of course they will do!' She replied. 'Christian she's married now… they're bound to have sex and make love… just like we did… They need their private time… and that's what the honeymoon is all about… being together, loving each other… without any interruptions… If we go you wouldn't let them alone for a second…'
'But Ana…'
'Christian you need to get this fixation under control. Your daughter loves you… and you know that…'
'I miss her Ana…'
'I know… but she'll soon be here… and she told you and promised us both that she's not going to forget us…'
'I know…'
'Then if you know, why are you being like this?'
'…because that is my baby…'
'Ours Christian… ours… you didn't make her alone…'
'…but I miss her the most…' I pouted.
'I know you do… because she is daddy's girl… and she will always remain daddy's girl… You just need to learn to let go…'
'I don't want to let go…'
'Why don't you talk to her about this Christian? She understands and she won't ever leave you alone… you know that…'
'I know Ana…' I replied. 'So does that mean that the France holiday is off?'
'Do you really need to ask Christian?' She replied as I kept staring at her. 'YESSSS! It is off Christian…'
'Fine… but when she's coming back I want them both to stay with us for a couple of days…'
'Christian!'
'Ok… maybe a night or two…'
'Christian!' She warned again.
'What?'
'They have their own home… they need time for themselves…'
'So? She has a home here… a home with us…'
'Oh Lord please help us…' She replied exasperated. 'Christian… I know this is hard for you… but she has her own life now…'
'…but she has it with us Ana!'
'And she will always have it… only she has Carter as well now…'
'But I still want her to spend some nights here…'
'Christian!' She warned again.
'Ana!' I imitated.
'That's it… I'm calling your mother… maybe she can get some sense into that head of yours…' She replied.
'Admit it Ana… you want this as much as I do…'
'I know Christian… but as I left my parents' house to live with you, I need to do the same… Only I'm accepting this fact… and you're trying to put it off…' She replied as she rubbed my back in soothing circles. 'Baby…I know this is hard letting go… but she's now growing up…'
'Can we turn back time?'
'We can wish for it… but it doesn't work that way…'
'We'll ask her and we'll see…'
'Christian, don't put her in a position where she has to choose between us and Carter…'
'I'm not making her choose!'
'Yes you are Christian! Give her some space… She'll come to us… soon… I promise…'
'What if the plane crashes? What if…'
'Christian… stop saying these things!' She warned. 'I've been having nightmares… I don't want to lose her… your damned jinxes are what I need to feel worse!'
'But Ana!'
'No buts Christian… I don't want to have that sight again in my mind…' She replied. 'Look… would it make you feel better if you skype her?'
'Like now?'
'No… It's 1am in France at this hour…'
'Then when?'
'In few hours' time…'
'..but that's long… many things can happen in hours…'
'Good… then come help Gail and I with some cake decoration. We can teach you. We've taken up this hobby together.'
'Cake decoration?' I asked perplexed.
'Sera, was also doing it with us…' She bribed.
'Count me in…' I replied back as I stood up. I was doing anything that she loved so that I'll keep her memory alive. I wanted my daughter back… I wanted her back into my arms.
Sera's POV – 6 months later
Since we've come back from the honeymoon, dad seemed to be more overprotective and more scared than ever. He called over 4 times a day, even if I saw him at GEH. He was still not used to the idea that I was now married. In a way, both Carter and I understood him, but at times he wasn't being sensible. Especially when he once walked in on us.
Flashback – 4 weeks after our honeymoon – Sunday
Every Sunday we invite my parents to lunch. It's something we wanted to keep alive… our communication with our parents. On Saturdays his parents come over, and on Sundays mine. We got used to this tradition. We loved having our parents over. The talking… the laughs… anything that made us a family… Even Carter enjoyed this. In fact he looked forward to these weekends.
It was a Sunday afternoon and we had just given Kathleen the day off to spend it with her sister back in Florida. We both understood what it meant living away from family. It was the least we could do. We were preparing lunch together, when Carter came from behind me and started kissing me neck gently.
'Mhmm…' I smiled as I let my head drop on his shoulder.
'You like this don't you?' He smiled as he continued his sweet torture.
'Carter… you do know that if we start, we're not going to stop…'
'I know…' He replied as he turned me facing him. '…but…' He continued as he kissed me passionately as I let his tongue encircle mine. 'I want you…'
'I do too…' I replied back as I let myself kiss him fiercely back while he held my head in place.
'Oh God…' He said again as his hands travelled underneath my shirt and quickly searched for my bra. He stopped kissing me and looked me straight into my eyes smiling cunningly. 'You're not wearing any…' He stated as his hands travelled to my front and cupped my breasts while caressing me gently.
'Mhmm…' I moaned, as he encircled and pulled at my nipple. Without knowing how, my hands travelled underneath his shirt, and I was soon touching him everywhere. He guided my hand to his pants and I caressed him gently, while he joined me and fingered me slowly.
'Mhmm… you're so ready…' He smiled wickedly as I quickly took a look at the time while he continued kissing me and caressing me.
'My… parents… are…'
'They're always late baby…' He replied as he pushed me against the wall and the continued kissing me passionately. He was right, they were always late. We had some time, but soon we heard something and we stopped.
'What was that?'
'Probably the wind knocked a plant…' He replied as we continued kissing, but we soon had to stop as I saw my parents staring at us. I quickly pushed Carter off.
'Mum… Dad…' I stuttered as I saw dad sending death glares to Carter while both my mother and Carter laughed. 'Um… you're early…'
'On time…' Dad replied with no emotion in his voice still sending death glares to Carter, while he took over the cooking.
'Please… make yourself at home…' I tried.
'Sera… you're blushing…' Carter noticed as I hit him lightly into his arm while both my parents took a seat.
End of Flashback
'Sera…' Dad asked again bringing me out of my deep trance.
'Sorry… you were saying?' I smiled.
'I offered you some wine…' He replied back as Carter squeezed my hand.
'Um… I can't…' I smiled as both my mother and father looked at me.
'Define you can't…' Dad said again.
'I think we should tell them…' Carter whispered.
'It's not 3 months as yet Carter…' I whispered back.
'It's only one week away Sera…' He replied. 'I think it's time…'
'Are you two going to tell us or not?' My father asked again.
'Well… I…' I started as I looked at Carter. 'We're kind of pregnant…' I smiled as both of them kept staring at us.
'Guys… a reaction would be nice…' Carter smiled.
'How long?' My mother asked smiling.
'Almost three months in a week…' I replied while my father came forward and hugged me tight.
'You're going to be a mother! You're giving me a grandchild!' He almost cried.
'Us Christian!' Mum replied as she joined us. 'Congrats!' She cried.
'Carter… you've made us proud!' Dad replied as he hugged him. 'What are you having?'
'A boy…' We both replied.
'When are you due? Any names?' My mother started.
'I'm due in September… in around 6 more months…' I smiled.
'Names?' Dad asked again.
'We're still thinking… right now we're having bets on the nursery wallpaper…' Carter replied. 'I want Cars and Sera wants clowns…' He replied as both my parents looked at each other.
'Clowns…' Both replied in unison. 'It's what we did to Jason.'
'You see!' I teased.
'We'll make another bet, and we'll see.'
'Carter, I'm still going to win!' I smiled.
'Yeah… we'll see…' He teased.
