Chapter 21
The trolls led them through part of the forest to a small rock face. Thankfully, it wasn't very far from their current position, so they didn't have to exert too much energy carrying Elsa. Upon arriving at the rock face, the two trolls started to do a series of knocks and slaps onto the rock. Anna shared a confused look with Kristoff and Beth, who looked equally as confused.
When Anna returned her attention back to the trolls in front of her, she noticed they had stopped and where panting heavily. Suddenly, a small door carved itself out of the rock and dislodged itself out. Anna had to do a double take to make sure that it was really there.
Magic, huh.
The two trolls slowly removed it and stepped away, motioning for the group to enter. Anna skeptically looked over to Kristoff, who immediately started to enter the small cave with Elsa. Anna looked at Beth, who returned her stare and nodded. Soon everyone was entering the cave.
The entryway was built for trolls, so everyone had to crouch down to enter. It was miserable for Anna, so she felt sorry for Kristoff. As they continued down the small pathway, the trolls kept muttering to themselves and glancing at Elsa. Anna was starting to get annoyed with the trolls and the tight corridor.
Nearly as soon as Anna was about to say something, they emerged into a large round room, that was dimly lit by torches. Anna looked in awe as she stepped into the middle of the room. It had a fancy pattern carved into it about halfway up to the ceiling, that stretched all the way around the room.
Anna snapped back into reality when she realized the trolls were talking.
"- Grand Pabbie will help." Kristoff nodded furiously and layed Elsa down onto a nearby bench. Anna glanced over to Beth to see she had a hopeful glint in her eyes. When the trolls left, Anna let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. Her mind was racing with scenarios from good to bad.
Beth must have noticed the distressed look on Anna's face, because she gently laid a hand onto her shoulder.
"It'll be okay." She said reassuringly. Anna could only nod. Beth led her over to the bench Elsa was laying on and made Anna sit down onto it. She let go of Anna and mad her way over to Kristoff, who was sitting on the floor, with his head in his hands. Beth sat down beside him and started rubbing soothing circles onto his back.
Anna was watching the whole exchange from where she was sitting. She let a small smile grace her features. She looked down at Elsa and watched her lips open and close slightly with each breath.
A sense of longing and guilt shot through Anna, nearly causing her to double over. She couldn't help but to think of if Elsa would never wake up. What it would be like to never have Elsa to hold onto her, or to kiss her.
Just then the two trolls came back into the room, followed by Grand Pabbie. The two trolls were carrying a stretcher of sorts. Anna quickly stood up and made room for the trolls.
"Princess Anna, come with us. You two, stay here for now." Pabbie said. "Also Kristoff," Kristoff looked up to the troll. "It's good to see you again." Pabbie added with a smile.
The two trolls put Elsa onto the stretcher and were now carrying her off down one of the many other corridors. Anna was quick to follow. Grand Pabbie was walking beside Anna down the corridor. The corridor was wider and more lit than the entrance tunnel.
"Are you going to tell me what happened?" Anna turned her head to look at Grand Pabbie, and sighed.
Yeah." Anna recounted the story in exquisite detail. Though, she did leave out her and Elsa's taboo feelings.
Anna looked over to Pabbie. His face was a mixture of confusion and deep thought. Anna sighed through her nose. She looked over to the trolls carrying Elsa, who were now unlocking the door to a small room. Anna had been so out of thought that she didn't notice that she had entered a small medical wing. She noticed trolls with bandages on almost their entire body.
She quickly looked away when she heard her door get opened. The two trolls moved inside the room with Elsa. They took her off of the stretcher and put her on a white fluffy bed in the corner of the room. Anna walked in with Grand Pabbie and sat down in a small wooden chair beside the bed.
Grand Pabbie motioned for the trolls to leave. They looked reluctant to leave, but eventually conceded and left the room leaving Anna and Grand Pabbie alone. Once the door was closed Pabbie turned to Elsa's sleeping form. He pulled the other chair in the room over to the bed. He got on top of it, so that he was hovering over Elsa's body.
Anna could only watch in amazement as Grand Pabbie's hands started to glow with a purple light. He was hovering them over Elsa's body. He started to move them over the rest of her body. Anna noticed that his face would grimace every now and again. When he stopped, he was breathing heavily and a thin layer of sweat formed on his head.
He turned to Anna. "Her body is fighting infection away, which is making her weak. While her mind has slipped in a state of coma. I'm not completely sure what has caused it, but I'm assuming stress and panic." Anna nodded furiously.
Pabbie continued. "I'll do what I can to help Elsa, but I don't know how much I'll be able to help."
That comment filled Anna with dread. "H-How much do you think you can help?" She asked her voice uneven.
Grand Pabbie sighed and looked back at Elsa's body. "I'm not sure really, only time will tell." He slowly got off of the chair that he was standing on and made his way to the door.
"I'll be back." He said before leaving the room.
Anna was left in the room with Elsa. She didn't know when she would get another chance to be alone with her, so she gently bent over and gave her a quick, gentle kiss on the lips. She brushed her thumb over Elsa's cheek and then returned to her position in the chair. She sighed heavily.
Her heart was weighed down heavily by dread. The door opening caused Anna to snap out of her thoughts. Grand Pabbie entered the room with a cup containing a thick, green liquid. HE returned to his position on the chair and looked at Anna.
"Could you help me? She needs to drink this." Anna nodded and stood beside the bed. As gently as she could, she raised Elsa's head and a bit of her torso up. Grand Pabbie poured the drink down her throat. Once it was all gone, Anna lowered her back down onto the bed.
Pabbie slowly got off of the chair and waled over to Anna. He put a hand on her knee and gave her a reassuring smile and squeeze. He then made his way to the door. He looked back and said,
"Only time will tell." Then left the room.
