"The truth is…."
Mom Matsuoka started. Hah. Rin had already learned from his experience and he won't be surprised by whatever statement would come next. He was neither eating nor drinking this time. Perfect. He has properly prepared himself.
So, steadying his stance; he pretended not to care about it; though he was all ears on her.
"…..you're not actually siblings."
Yeah, he was not drinking or eating, but at that moment he was preparing for their lunch; holding a sharpened knife; and goddammit, he had almost lost his right hand forever.
He wanted to punch the one-second-ago Rin who even dared to underestimate their Mom. He should've known his place as the lowly Matsuoka who wouldn't win against her.
Just when he was about to retort—before he knew it he had become his mom's straight man; seriously since when did they become the boke and tsukkomi duo?— 'Mom. Stop this nonsense.' and such; the girl beside her had talked.
"EH?! HAH?! M-MOM!? W-WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!"
Gou shouted frantically, holding a knife as sharp as his so carelessly and waving it to random directions not aware of whom or what it might damage; it almost grazed Rin's arm.
"O-onii-chan! Did you know this all along?!"
Rin gently held her wrist, before he suffered any injury and to calm her down. He got the knife from her hand and placed it on the knife rack.
He sighed, massaged his temples and composed himself.
"I've always wanted to tell this to you, Rin, Gou."
He just noticed that their mom had already walked towards them. He stared at her and was surprised at her serious face.
"I'm sorry for lying all this time. I just….", she looked sideways, sighed and shook her head, "But I've treated you both as my real children."
Rin and Gou were now staring at each other; both of them trying to absorb the truth that their mother had just told them.
Is this for real? Rin's heart was beating erratically on his chest, as if it would jump from his rib cage. He stared at her eyes. All this time I've been trying my best to stop these illicit feelings for her, and conceal them deep inside my heart. Is it really possible? Am I allowed now to tell the world about this?
All those nights and even mornings or afternoons I've just been satisfying myself and NOW I'M ALLOWED TO HAVE SE—
"MOM. WILL YOU STOP THE NARRATION?!"
Rin faced his mom, hiding from his back. She timidly came out from there; looked sideways and clicked her tongue.
Just how low does his mom view him?
"Mom. Is it really true?", Gou asked her.
"Oh! About Rin and his joystic—"
"MOOOOOOM!"
Rin's cheeks were redder than his hair by now and he just wanted to bang his head or crawl to any hole because of his Mom's unrestricted language.
He could clearly see the cause of his death at a young age; Hypertension.
While rubbing his face with his palms, remembering something important, he then asked, "Wait mom. I was there when you gave birth to Gou. So how come both of us are adopted?"
She looked sideways again, "That's because….."
The Matsuoka siblings were focused on her next words.
"…I WAS JUST KIDDING. TE HEH~!"
It was accompanied by a tongue out, a wink and a light tap on the cute; just like those clumsy trying-to-be-cute characters from animes.
But she's almost 40 years old. And this is their mother. A mother who is supposed to be the good example for her children.
They could only stare at her.
While she started lecturing them, "HAH. What's the thrill with non-blood related siblings?! Seriously, I hate those people who would categorize them as incest. We're all for forbidden love! You get me? Huh? Huh?"
No. Seriously no. And he never wished to.
Sorry, Mom Matsuoka just loves teasing Rin. It's just her expression of love for him. I wrote this in one sitting, so I'm sorry if it's poorly written.
I think I'll keep on writing for this fic whenever I'm on a slump on Her Wedding. LOL.
