Christian's POV
My family thinks I have no idea what is going on, but I do. They are planning something for my birthday. Fuck, I hate my birthday. Why am I supposed to celebrate the day where the crack whore gave birth to me? It's just a day like any other, but I know what ever they are planning I won't get out of it. So, I decided to let them have their way. I have other plans I'm looking really forward too. I talked to Luke and Elliot and we all want to have a little vacation with our girls before the babies arrive, so we are all going to Aspen for a week next month. Ana and I will fly down with Mia and Luke, while Elliot and Kate will fly in from Hawaii where they are going for their honeymoon. I would have loved to take Ana back to our island before the baby is born, but I don't want to make such a long journey as long as she is pregnant.
Ana told me about the conversation she had with Nataly last weekend and obviously she and Patrick decided to wait. I think that's the best choice, though now they've found a new thing to do. They started filming each other doing crazy shit and post it on YouTube. Hell, so far they made smoothies with disgusting foods mixed together, the bought canned food took the labels off and challenged each other to eat it. The other day they were eating jelly beans with flavors like barf, canned dog food and booger. Though my highlight was yesterday when they ate different baby foods. Ana and I got curious and tried the baby food, too. It was disgusting and the same day Ana ordered recipe books for baby food. I'm sure she can cook much nicer food for Teddy.
Right now, she is still asleep next to me. I can't help but watch her belly, it's crazy but she gets bigger by the minute it feels. My mom even joked that there must be at least two babies growing inside Ana's belly. That freaked me out and I called Dr. Greene to ask her if it is possible that Ana is carrying twins and she couldn't see the second one on the ultrasound. Dr. Greene told me by now we would know and that some woman just happen to have more amniotic fluid which is the case for Ana. She is almost 19 weeks now and I really want to feel Teddy move but so far no such luck. We started to read to him though, every evening we pick a storybook and read something for him, not sure this makes any sense, but I like it and I want my son to know my voice, so I talk to Ana's belly all the time.
Yesterday I took Patrick soaring, usually I would have taken Ana, but she was a little scared about the bumpy landing and Teddy, so I asked Patrick and he was all for it. To make it up to Ana we are going to make a little trip around town in Charlie Tango after breakfast and will have lunch in the city before returning back home. I thought about making a trip on the Grace, but Ana told me that it would make her nauseous, she wasn't the last time we took the Grace out, so I'm not sure if this is really it or if she is up to something. I'm also a little curious about her gift for me, she wouldn't even give me a hint and just smirked, if I could pick one it would be an entire weekend in bed, but I guess that won't be it.
I continue to watch Ana's belly as she is lying on her side. She started to sleep on her side two weeks or so ago and told me she get's dizzy if she lies on her back for too long. Of course that freaked me out too, but after some research I found out that this is a normal thing for many pregnant women, so I relaxed. The other day Elliot stopped by at GEH for lunch and we went to a toy store. Hell, we behaved like 6 year olds in there and I already bought tons of shit for Teddy. Ana just rolled her eyes at me and told me he wouldn't even be able to use most of it until he was two, but I don't care, Elliot and I will probably use most of the toys earlier. I also told him to make blueprints for an outdoor and indoor playground for Teddy. I don't want him to play on public playgrounds if I can help it.
Of course, I want him to play and have friends, but it will be a security nightmare to secure those places with all the kids and parents running around. At first I just wanted a playground outside, but Ana asked if we could have an indoor playground too, so Teddy could play inside when it's raining or too cold to be outside to play. I liked the idea and so I want to have all of it done before Teddy is born. I know he can't use it until he is older, but it's much easier to have construction done around the house before he is born than after.
I also started to work as much as possible these days, I want to stay at home for at least 4 to 6 weeks after he is born to help Ana as much as possible. Since I don't want to leave too much unfinished deals to Ros for this time I'm trying to secure as much as possible now and don't start anything new unless it is not a really good opportunity. This means I have to work late hours most days, but Ana understands why I'm doing it and she is really happy that I want to stay home for the first weeks with Teddy and her. Sawyer already asked if he could do the same thing and I allowed it. Hell, I love my baby sister, but she will be one chaotic mom, so it will be best for her to have Luke around 24/7 in the first few weeks.
When I talked to my dad the other day he was already planing trips with his future grandchildren, he can't wait to be a grandpa. He told me as a dad he had to be strict with us and set boundaries but now with his grandchildren he can't wait to spoil them rotten. Oh christ, the next generation of the Grey family will be spoiled as hell, because I know no matter what my son will ask me for I won't be able to say no. I want my kid to remember his childhood as happy and carefree, a time in his life he will love to look back at once he is grown up. I want his childhood to be perfect, completely different from my first years.
Sure, once the Greys adopted me I had a good childhood, but I was already to fucked up to enjoy it and then Elena came along. Fuck, it would kill me if anything like that would ever happen to Teddy. Flynn told me not to think like that, but I can't help it, fucked up shit happens even to kids with loving parents and good families. I guess, that is also the reason why I am so happy that Kate and Mia are also pregnant. Teddy will have his cousins to play with. This means no background checks on the families, less security when he wants to play at their homes and people I can trust to take proper care of my child if he spends time with them. I know Elliot wants more than one kid and Mia always wanted 5 kids, so this will give my son plenty of play buddies where I can be relaxed if he's with them.
I place my hand on Ana's bump and suddenly I feel like the tiniest kick against my hand. What the hell?! I look at her belly and there it is again. Fuck me, he is moving!

I know I must look like a complete idiot. I knew they were up to something, but I never expected this.
"Happy birthday Christian. Make a wish" Ana says and I know exactly what my wish is. I blow out the candles and take the cake from Ana to place it on the table and make my rounds to greet our guests.
Gail comes in to announce that refreshments and snacks are all outside on the patio and after I've cut the cake and everyone has a piece we go all outside and while the girls chat about babies and pregnancy and sit with the guys.

My parents got me a new Rolex and a case of my favorite wine, Elliot gave me blueprints for a giant treehouse he wants to build here which has me really excited as it can be like a man cave for Teddy and I. True to Mia's word I love her present. I always wanted to go skydiving and now I have a certificate for a skydive and all the lessons I need before I can do it. Ana seems nervous about it, but I really want to do it. My favorite though was Rays gift. He has build me a picture frame with pictures of Ana from the day of her birth until now and it has one free space for the first picture of us with Teddy as a family. It's actually funny to see that my petite wife once was a really chubby baby. Ana was embarrassed about the baby pictures but I love them, she was cute as hell.
My dad and Ray take care of the BBQ later and we all have a really good time. I think that is the first time I really enjoyed myself during a birthday party for me. Though the end was definitely sad for Ana as she had to say goodbye to Jose and Dave who are moving to LA on Tuesday. She cried so much that I got worried she would end up being dehydrate if she wouldn't stop soon.
The next morning, my actual birthday starts with Ana kissing down my neck to wake me.

"Yes, she is on her way over to her office as am I."
"Good, let her check on Ana and Teddy and try to stay calm, I know this is hard if you worry about Ana and your son, but Ana needs you calm."
"Okay, well thanks mom, I'll call you later." I hang up and tell Taylor to drive faster. Damn, I know some women lose weight during pregnancy, but most of them are overweight and it happens because they start to eat more healthy, but Ana is tiny as it is, she can't afford to lose much weight. Fuck it, this is it, this 300 calorie thing is over, I'd rather she gains a pound or two too much at each visit then having her lose weight. I thought it was stupid anyway but kept my mouth shut, this time I won't. I know Ana likes Dr. Greene and she is one of the best OB/GYN in the Seattle area, but if we have another baby, she will have to find another Doctor. I can't stand this woman.
Arriving at the Doctor's office I wait for Ana who arrives 5 minutes later and hug her.

30 minutes later a nurse has drawn blood from Ana, checked her blood pressure, weight and had Ana give her a urine sample. Dr. Greene checked on Teddy with an ultrasound and now we are sitting in her office.

Eat when you are hungry and try to eat healthy, if you are craving something that is not healthy eat it within reason. If you lose more weight until next week I want you to come here again."
"But our baby is alright, this is not effecting him?" I ask her.
"Mister Grey, you have to see it like this. Everything your wife eats and drinks is not only providing her body with all the nutrition she needs but also your son. If your wife is losing weight at this stage of the pregnancy it is because she is not taking in enough nutrition for the child and her own body. If this happens the child takes the nutrition it needs from your wife's body, this is why she is losing weight. I have to see the results of your wifes blood work to see what exactly is going on, but for now your child is perfectly fine."
"Is this dangerous for Ana?"
"Not at the moment, but we have to prevent her from losing more weight or this could become a concern. This is why I want your wife to keep track of her weight and what she eats. If you feel your wife isn't eating enough, you have to make sure that she is eating." Fuck this pisses me off, she makes it sound like Ana was eating less on purpose when she was the one telling her to watch her weight gain.
"Dr. Greene, with all due respect, but until you told my wife that she is not supposed to have more than 300 calories more each day she wasn't losing any weight, she only did what you told her to do."
"Mister Grey, I do understand that you are worried, but at the moment I can only make assumptions of what is going on which is not very professional. Your wife gained too much weight before which can cause a high birth weight for your son and a difficult delivery. We have to balance your wife's diet and we will, but for now we have to wait for the test results." she snaps at me and it is her luck that Ana seems to exhausted to sit here much longer or else I would really let her have it.

We say goodbye to Dr. Greene and I get Ana into the garage and in the SUV.

"I don't mind." I mumbles and I glad to see that by the time we arrive back home she has eaten all of the fruit salad and is sipping the last bit of her smoothie.
Ana tells me she is going to nap on the sofa until Gail has lunch ready for us and I call my mom who promises to stop by tomorrow. While Ana is napping I do a little more research on weight loss during a pregnancy and feel slighty better when I see how often this happens.
Later that day after dinner Ana is napping again and I work in my study for an hour before Ana and I settle down on the sofa with popcorn and some veggies with dip to watch a movie.
