Chapter 11: Undyne v. Naruto I
'I used to think all humans are bad, there the ones who caused my misery, but a human who could erase all that? I knew it wasn't possible...a human who was...good?'
'But since you tried to kill me, I know now all you humans are alike, I know you aren't any different.'

Undyne ripped her spear out of Naruto's body, she grabbed his head, holding his face close to hers. "I'm going to tear you to pieces for what you did," Her voice was low and quiet, but just loud enough for Monster kid to hear. And Monster kid finally moved. They ran away, not once ever looking back.
"I thought you were different, but...you're no better than the other human scum. I have no respect for-" Naruto's body began shivering, his limp arms detached from Undyne's hold.
Naruto briefly stumbled on the ground before getting footing. His movements were unnatural and spastic like he was being controlled by a feverish puppeteer, the once vast blue eyes Undyne remembered despising were draped with a curdling red. "You monsters are a piece of work..." He hissed.
A bright orange cloak encased Naruto's body while his wounds rapidly healing. Undyne tried throwing an armful of spears at him, but they served no avail. "I should've ended Toriel, then worked my way to you...because KEEPING YOU ALL ALIVE IS POINTLESS!" The bright orange cloak tightened around his body. Layers of crimson and black drenched the cloak making his fox like features become more defined.
*CRACK
The entire bridge suddenly collapsed under Naruto's terrifying transformation and he fell down into the ravine bringing Undyne along with him
Just as she was about to hit the bottom, Undyne latched her spears into the lofty stalagmites. Naruto, meanwhile, ungracefully crashed on the colony of sharp rocks below that could double as knives. 'This human...really is hell!
She thrusted another spear into the nearby wall, and started the long way back up to the top.
The wall wailed and rumbled. Pieces of rock were chipping off each second. "Here he comes." Undyne ran down the wall, picking up immense speed, when Naruto came into view she manifested a gigantic mass of spears. They came spiraling down at air cutting speeds. "That should stop him."
Naruto's hollow mouth pried open, a black beam tore from his mouth and disentatragting the spears. The beam shredded the ceiling, finally stopping once it lost mass.
Undyne's anger quickly dissolved into fear. In snap judgement, she penetrated the wall with two spears. 'I HAVE TO GET AWAY FROM THIS THING!' A huge, stark shadow shrouded her while she worked her way up the wall. 'What the hell?'
A second body up to the torso emerged from Naruto's back, his hollow, white eyes cultivated malice. 'But I can't give up, not until he...they're dead.'
Undyne created another army of spears, together, they casted a dark shadow above Naruto's beastly head. The target was Naruto and his death would be the bullseye. As they were falling towards him, the second body tore its jaw straight off, another white beam bursting out.
While destroying a few spears, the majority evaded it and began raining on the wall. Naruto maneuvered through most of them, but a spear to his chest and claws easily fastened him down on the wall and rendered him immobile...but not dead.
Realizing struggling was futile, the second body on him decided to point its head to the ceiling, his mouth wide open, prepared for another blast. Undyne stared at the "human", dumbfounded yet again. 'I guess he must be going crazy since he must of already realized there's no choice but for him to die.' She manifested several thousand spears above him and cracked a small smile 'There'll enough spears stuck in him to literally rip him into pieces!'
Naruto shot another tailed beast bomb and it fed away at a stalactite's base that edged near the cliff. Gravity soon made its toll and dropped it down, the second body on his back dug its claws into the rock as it fell past them and finally tore Naruto off the wall.
Undyne moved out of the way as it came down, her and Naruto's nonexistent eyes locked onto each other as both moved in opposite directions. She watched the thousands of spears stick into the wall not even reciprocating a drop of human blood. 'Doesn't anything kill him?!'
Undyne continued her climb up the wall, without Naruto's presence, until a shadow swept past her. The shadow brought Naruto alongside Undyne and he traversed forward faster than Undyne could ever hope to. It was briefly silent until a piece of stalactite grazed past her back.
'He's on the ceiling now? H-how'd he get up there so fast?!' Knowing the next stalactite would certainly hit her, Undyne pushed herself up on one of the spears keeping the other in her dominant hand. The spear swelled over a hundred times its original size. "This...THIS'LL KILL YOU ONCE AND FOR ALL!" She hurled the spear with every bit of strength she could muster.
It easily destroyed all the sharp rocks Naruto were throwing at her. And it wouldn't stop, it couldn't stop. Not until he was dead.
'...Please, this has to work...'
'It just has to hit him.'
'It can't fail...'
'Or they'll,'
'Die.'
"..."
"No...no...no...no..." Undyne stared empty-face. Her arms fell down. Her face devastated. Eyes empty. Naruto clutched the giant spear, shattering when he emitted pressure on it. He fell from the stalactite and lunged himself at Undyne.
She didn't move as Naruto came for her, neither did she struggle when his claw grabbed her and destroyed her armor as easily as the spear.
"...!"
A bone conked Naruto on the head, he instinctively turned his head to the culprit; Papyrus. "Never fear Undyne, The Great Papyrus is at your service!" He proudly announced.
"And...and me too!" Monster kid squeaked, popping out from behind Papyrus' cape. They were still visibly petrified by Naruto's new form.
"Nyeh heh, you look like you're going to cry, Undyne!"
Undyne quickly switched gears and snapped. "Shut up and do something already!"
"Right, here is my extra special attack...that I don't have a name for yet!" A bone erupted from the side of the wall, effectively imapiling the jinchuriki. The cloak dispersed and Naruto returned back to normal, he spent his last breathing seconds holding on tightly to Undyne's hand.
When his hand no longer functioned, Undyne landed on a bone below which gracefully carried her all the way to the top. "How did you guys know I needed help?" She asked, getting to her feet.
"I decided to get help and Papyrus was the closest person I could find." Monster kid explained.
"Aren't you glad we came when we did, you would've been a goner if we came a second later."
"Yeah!"
Except...
Monster kid never came back and Papyrus never saved me.
Naruto opened his claw. Dust filled in Undyne's place. He gave in to temptations and licked her remains, it tasted delectable and he wanted more. A smell of similar caliber to Undyne's dust pulled Naruto up the opposite wall.
He entered the cavern finding an abundance of dust, he was about the divulge in the white confection when something caught his hollow white eyes. "..." There, perching on top of a mound of dust was a green headband with broken lenses.
"...Mon...Monster kid."
Gentle hands saturated with blood scooped up the dust. Naruto held it close to his chest, a mixture of blood and tears veiling his face.
"I...I killed...I killed...No..no...I don't want this happen...Please come back...you have...YOU HAVE TO COME BACK!"
Naruto abruptly fell down, landing face first into his pool of lost blood and Monster kid's tangible remains.
You cannot give up just yet...!

'Please...just bring him back. That's all I want.'

Naruto stood there, gawking at an ancient hunk of cheese encased in crystal. 'But...I can't be back here!' "Yo, what's the matter?" Their voice made Naruto jump, he whipped around. "Y-you're alive?!"
"Um yeah, why wouldn't I be?" They chirped, Naruto relaxed. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing...I mean...no, there is something. I'm sorry...I should've told you this sooner, but I didn't want anything to change between us...I..." He exhaled. His eyes locking onto Monster kid's. "I'm a human."
For a second, Mosnter kid's eyes flickered, but their tender smile still remained. "Haha, stop joking around!"
"...I'm not-"
"Heh, I didn't know you were this funny!"
"I-"
"A human? Come on, why would a human be so-"
"He's telling the truth, Kid." Sans cut in, shuffling up to them. "And now it's your choice to decide whether that changes how you see him."

'But you, you're different. So different.'
"So, what do you think of me now?" Naruto asked.
"I still believe humans are mostly bad, but not all of them. Right now, you're the only human who matters to me and...I think you're my friend."
They both smiled at each other like idiots.
Naruto looked to Sans who kept himself busy by quietly chuckling in the corner. "Hey Sans," He said.
His hands sunk inside his jacket pockets. "What's up?"
"Do you know a shortcut to Hotland?"
"Sure do. Follow me."
OoO
Sans stopped in front of a glitzy sign, in bold the letters 'HOTLAND' displayed on the black monochrome walls. It was literally a sight that caused sore eyes. "Well, here we are, Hotland," He said, swaying on his sneakers.
"Hey! We're still in the Waterfall place!"
"They're short cuts, not direct routes."
"You took me directly to Grillby's!"
Naruto got more steamed when Sans shrugged his shoulders and hashed out a lazy 'oops'. "Listen kid, just keep on going forward and you'll be in Hot..." Sans paused, holding his arm above Naruto's head.
Sans grabbed a spear that just barely missed Naruto's head. He discarded the spear beside Naruto's feet. "You're cutting really close, Undyne, shouldn't you be at that book club with Pap."
"It's a cooking class and no, I postponed it when I heard you guys walking."
"Sure. Must of been dumb luck you happened to be walking to Hotland as we arrived."
"...stop fooling around and get out of my way! Don't you care about getting to the surface?!"
"Not really."
"Of course you'd say that."
"Uh, human,"
"Huh?"
"Mind keeping Undyne busy, I have a sentry station to run." He huddled Monster kid in between his arm. 'I shouldn't of let Kid come anyways, I knew Undyne was coming.'
"H-hey! Let me go, I wanna be with-"
"No, he's right. You're just gonna get in the way while I fight."
"...jerk.." Monster kid remarked, slightly embarrassed that's all they could come up with.
"One last thing," Sans permanent grin grew even wider when he faced Undyne to leave. "Tell Alphys I said hi." Then he was gone. Both of them were.
Naruto opened his mouth to ask who Alphys was but shut up when Undyne gave him a death stare.
'That idiot...' "To tell you the truth, I've been waiting for this fight with you, and by that, I mean I've been waiting to rip you into PIECES! Get a load of this technique, human!" Undyne ran towards Naruto, loosely holding the spear's handle.
Naruto reached for the spear laying beside him. 'It's a good thing Sans left this here!' He lodged his spear into ground, using it as footing, he jumped off the handle when Undyne was close enough.
All before she could turn around, he took off his headband and threw it over Undyne's head. Undyne felt a sudden yank at her head, it wasn't strong, but it was enough to make topple back. "-you're pretty strong, human." Undyne begrudgingly admitted, her heel finding a place in the dirt to keep her balance. She pivoted and pointed her spear. 'The human's gone?'
"I can't believe he ran away on me." Undyne scoffed. She wavered the spear around then finally returned it to her waist. "Eh, looks like he took my spear with him too. What a coward."
"I'm NOT a coward!" Undyne effortlessly blocked Naruto's attack from behind and tripped him. All without turning around. "I'm surprised you know how to hide like that."
"How could I be a ninja if I couldn't!" Naruto rolled onto his back, narrowly missing a quick spear jab. He got to his feet and picked up his own spear. He rammed the spear into Undyne's armor, only for it to shatter on impact. 'What kind of armor is she wearing?!'
Naruto watched Undyne stick her spear into the wall with relative ease. 'The hell's going o-' He suddenly lifted into the air then got hammered into the solid ground. Naruto glared at Undyne, her armor subtly clanking on each other breath she took. His fingernails digging into the ground when the armor started clanking faster and faster.
A spear formed in Undyne's hand. She went in for a fatal thrust, but stopped when the spear head was just above Naruto's nose. "...Why are you stopping?!" Naruto snarled.
"What's with you?! You're not putting up much of a fight, it's like you're trying not to try. I want this fight to be fun...and I know you do too!"
'Only one of you can live after this fight and the only way you can ever come close to killing her is if you lose control of yourself and turn into your true form. So let me help you. We'll kill her together.'
'F-fine. If that's what it takes...I'm sorry Toriel.' "If you want a fight so bad...I'LL GIVE YOU ONE!" The intense feeling of being under the orange cloak's influence rushed back into him.
Undyne stuttered for a moment, she quickly recollected herself and jumped back. "Alphys was right, this one is a Jinchuriki. Heh, it's a good thing we're here." She pounded her fist on the wall. 'It shouldn't be long before it activates.'
Naruto ran towards Undyne. He reeled his arm back and pounded the torso of her armor.
*Cr-AC-k
Undyne's arms dropped to her sides, a sly smile slowly creeping up. Naruto's fist, wet with his own blood, recoiled to his side. "How...how are you smiling after that?!"
"Because it's ready." Undyne grabbed Naruto and threw him by the HOTLAND sign then knelt down. Naruto rolled onto his stomach, his hand reached past his head and pushed him up.
The ground, wall and the ceiling started shaking simultaneously as Naruto got himself up. "What's going on?!" The rumbling stopped and spears ejected from the wall, each one impailing a different part of Naruto's body. His blood painted the hall a sickening dark red color, it gave such a jarringly grotesque look and smell that Undyne could never forget.
"This fight is over..."

"NO! NO! Why am I back here?! I don't want to do this again! I don't want to die again and again and again!"
"Stop it!" Monster kid yelled. Their voice made Naruto shake harder. "Please, I don't want to see you like this! I don't want to see you so upset..."
"SHUT UP ALREADY! I DON'T CARE HOW YOU-" Naruto felt a hand on his back. "That's enough, kid." Sans muttered.
"You can keep on dying over and over again or you can realize the same exact mistake you're making is costing you your life and strive to change it. I don't care either way, just stop taking your anger out on everyone else."
Naruto got up and blindly ran off, never stopping until the racing footsteps and 'comeback' or 'stop' was eventually muted.

Naruto kicked his legs against the vibrant blue water. He flopped back on the black grass, his head was laying right beside an echo flower. 'None of this would've happened if I didn't overreact at Monster kid the first time. I just got so mad I couldn't think.'
*RING
*RING
"Are you going to ask me about my clothes or something?"
Papyrus spoke in a mellow tone, a compensating tone. "Um...well I was but...Sans told me about everything and I think you should go back. You know, you don't really have to fight Undyne. I know she wants to kill you, but I did too, remember?"
"You don't understand!" Naruto hung up, he clenched the cell phone tightly, preparing to throw the old thing into the water out of pure rage. "..." He paused when saw the angry reflection of himself. The phone fell on the ground. "...maybe I don't understand."
'I thought Undyne was the relentless killer...the one monster I couldn't talk to, the one I had no choice but to fight. This is the same mistake I'm making...It has to be.'
Naruto picked his stuff up and began the long trek back.
'I won't lose myself to her again. I'll even start over if I have to-the right way.'
He walked by the crystallized cheese, scanning the place for any signs of Sans or Monster kid. "Hey Sans, Kid?! Where are you guys, I came back!" The room was eerily silent.
"It took you long enough."
His skin crawled. 'I wish he'd stop doing that.' "Where's Monster kid?"
"Kid left. Turns out you and only you can tell them the truth. They wouldn't take it from me."
"So he knows..." He lamented at the thought of Monster kid's absence. '...I'll make things right, Kid, I'll come back for you after I deal with Undyne, that's a promise.' "Just take me through the shortcut. I'm ready to do this."
"...actually, I have a better shortcut. This one will take you directly into Hotland."
"Whatever, let's go already!"
'I wonder what this kid sees in Undyne that he didn't in my brother. That's what I don't understand.'
OoO
"Aaaaaand here we are; Hotland."
'This place isn't hot all...and it's not dessert-y either.' Naruto walked a bit, studying each machine and scattered pieces of paper on the tiled floor. His footsteps brashly bounced back and forth on the pale green walls, it made him uneasy.
"...! What's that?!" He ran up to a giant monitor that displayed a pixelated image of himself of all people. 'Someone's been watching me this entire time?!'
*CLANK
"Shit! I missed!"
Naruto stared at the spear wedged into the now dysfunctional fridge. 'She's here. If this doesn't work, then I don't know what will...'
A/N: This chapter is my frustrations of forgetting to save for a really long time then having to start alllll the way back. God, I hate when that happens.
But besides that, I originally wrote this story with the mindset of once Naruto dies, he dies, that's it. Then someone opened me up to the possibilities of determination and that changed my mind completely.
The problem is it erases any sort of danger, which is why I never implemented it, so...I've decided Naruto can only 'start over' when he's in jinchuriki form. Which means the only way to effectively kill him is to do it before he can get into jinchuriki form or extract the beast altogether and kill him afterwards. Keep this in mind.
