Chapter 27:
I walk as fast as I can. I remember that day Maxon took me to the place with answers. I was going to the north corridor. Specifically into a stairwell that led to a wall. A wall that led to answers.
There was a painting which I opened and then I remembered the code. It was an arrangement of royal birthdays.
I turned the handle and of course that big step was there.
"Damn it," I muttered.
Well, I guess this is the only way. I used my strength to pull myself up so I was sitting in the room. I knew no one had followed me. Probably because I shouted, "I'll be back, don't you dare move."
They really do take orders seriously. I doubt they have even blinked since I left. The guards probably thought I was just crazy and was trying to escape the world.
They underestimate the determination of a pregnant woman.
I looked at the sight in front of me. It was the room with the books and the old gadgets used.
Advancement.
A TV. A computer. Tracking Devices. A GPS. A Glass that could find out anything. Phones.
Oh. My. Goodness.
I grabbed a history book and flipped to the index.
Electronics….Electronics… Ahh I found a page. I flipped to the year 2098.
From the beginning of 2000s electronics have flourished and have made life easier. Advancements like easier versions of telephones, and computers have all been created. This specific year the most marvelous yet dangerous thing as been discovered. A special laptop has been created. One's brain can be transferred into the file and every single thing processed can be viewed. The program will have control over the person including decisions. After years and years of research this tool will be greatly used by the FBI and security. The problem is, it went into the wrong hands. Wrong hands that wanted to manipulate the entire world. Such a tool could ruin lives. Such a tool could ruin every aspect we have. Secret organizations started to steal these weapons. America had to take action. It was ordered to destroy every single one of these laptops. Sadly, no amount of reinforcement could take away what has been created. Rumors say that there are still some around. They were used in world war 3. They were used everywhere. What they will cause in the future remains unknown, but their power is greater than what any human can have.
I now knew what the guerrilla wanted. They wanted America. Not Illéa.
They wanted to control our people.
I grabbed the book and got out of the room. I locked it up and went down the stairs. The book didn't have a title so it could blend in as a regular book.
Before Maxon left, he told me the names of his most trusted advisers.
Stavros, Elron, and Hendrix.
I told a guard nearby to ask them to meet me in a conference room.
"Queen America…. You are a genius," Stavros said complimenting me.
I knew they would be the ones who knew about the room. I just told them about everything I had figured out. They were shocked to hear all of the information. I would be too.
"Now we know what they are going to do. There's still a lot to figure out. First…. why? How do they have all of this? How do they plan on giving it to Illéa? What are we going to do? When do we talk to them? Do we continue the trip with Maxon and everybody? Those are just a few examples," I said.
"I think the trip should continue because they'll get suspicious. Also, we still need to negotiate with them and find out where they are. Have you thought about why they would stop food from coming in though?" Elron asked.
"Yes, indeed I have. They had to be noticed and not just by Illéa, but by all of the earth. They're a lot bigger than we expect. I'm sure there's more to it than just that, but I'm sure that's part of the reason."I replied.
"We have a lot to talk about, Queen America. It's late right now and you need to rest. I'm sure if the King were here he'd want you to. You should call him as well. Don't mention any details. Only hint it; they might track phone calls," Hendrix said softly.
Out of all of them, he was the one who would think most about everybody else. Elron would think about every single thing and Stavros was the one who put things together. They were all very nice and I could see why Maxon trusted them.
"Okay," I said.
I was so tired at this point. It's not easy doing all of this.
I went over the the telephone and dialed the number.
It rang a couple times before a maid picked up.
"Who is this," she asked.
"Queen America, may I please talk to the King."
"Of course," she said.
A few seconds later Maxon was the one who talked.
"America, how are you?"
"I'm fine, we got a video today from the guerilla."
"What did they say?"
"They don't want the royalty down, they want advancements. Something about how we could all be in different places today," I said careful not to leak anything.
"What do they mean?" He asked confused.
"Maxon, it's not safe to talk over phone. I still don't know much…." I said not knowing how to tell them.
I then knew how.
"Like I said it's not safe, but I certainly am tugging my hear because of answers." I said.
I could sense his confusion, but then he understood.
"Of course and answers are just so hidden we can't find them. Do you have any palc es to look?"
"I have no idea. I guess just like in the books we look through the walls and glass. We have to see behind and forward and have to be careful. We have to open the picture hanging on a wall, type the answer, and look into the room of the past and answers. Remember that book that we read about this," I said hoping he'd understand what I was trying to say. This was tricky. Really tricky.
"Ah, now was this book with an amazing tale written by someone I'm familiar with. I just wish we experienced the entire situation."
I knew he understood.
"I have to go Maxon, but that's all we got. A call about some random advancement," I said refreshing he word in his brain.
"Of course darling. How's our baby doing?"
"He's doing good. Our little decker doesn't move too much. I think this baby is more….calm like you," I said smiling.
"I bet he'll be as sweet and caring as you," Maxon said.
"Thanks honey. Alright, it's super late so I'm going to go sleep. I love you."
"Goodnight and I love you too."
