Hey y'all! So I'm on vacation right now and I wasn't allowed to bring my laptop so I didn't realize my limited way to update. I did warn you it would be a late update and I'm so sorry again. Chapter 30:
2 more hours.
2 more hours until I can be in the arms of my husband. 2 more hours until the one month is over. 2 more hours until I know that Maxon will be here for both the baby and I.
These last days had been the hardest. I mean... I had gone to some cities and seen how they were doing as well as done a couple more interviews, but that didn't change how much I missed Maxon. By keeping busy, I still managed to think of him every second of the day.
Especially, since I hadn't even spoken to him. I had been to the doctor twice as well. Apparently something about stress levels.
Well, she told me that I was getting too stressed. She had been the one who was quite against Maxon leaving. I guess after the attack I had she had been pretty stern with him.
I walked through the halls of the palace. I longed find the warm embrace Maxon would always pull me in. I missed the kisses where I would be brought into paradise and the hugs where I knew I had someone to turn to.
I hadn't realized how much I needed my husband especially at this specific time in life.
I also remembered that I was 19. That's pretty young to be a queen and a mother.
I snapped back into reality and found myself at the gardens. I placed my hand on a rose nearby. It was bright red and looked like it had just bloomed.
I admired it's beauty. I imagined what it would be like to be a rose. To have attention drawn to you, but to block them away. The thorns had that job. I took my hand off the flower and started walked toward our bench.
I sat down and placed a hand on my stomach.
"We're almost there," I whispered to my little boy.
Almost
I had killed 1 hour by sitting in the sun and right now I was laying down on my bed. My head was hurting and my abdomen was aching like crazy.
"Why do you have to be paining now?" I thought to my stomach.
I inhaled a large breath and then exhaled. I stood up and threw my legs over the mattress and let them touch the ground, I carefully stood on both my feet holding on to the bed frame.
I took one step and let go of my support.
The sharpest pain surged through my body and I screamed as my knees buckled and I fell to the floor.
A guard rushed in and to my side. This entire situation reminded my of my experience with the attack.
I couldn't of been more thankful that the guard was Aspen.
I was in the strangest position ever. One hand was holding onto the bed post and another clutching my stomach.
"America, are you alright?" I hear Aspen ask.
I can't even reply with the pains going through my body. I simply shake my head and keep on taking deep breaths.
I hear Aspen say into is walkie talkie, "This is Captain Leger, we have have the Queen in need in her room, I repeat, the Queen is in need and bring the doctor."
"What?" I manage to get out.
"Listen Mer, I have no idea what is happening I just need you to stay calm, okay?"
"Nothing is happening I'm just..." I let out another pained scream.
Aspen put his hand on my back and tried to calm me down. He kept saying that it would be alright and that Maxon would be here soon.
Within 5 minutes, Doctor Melina and a few guards rushed in.
The doctor kneeled down by me and started talking to Aspen. He told her everything that had happened from the begining.
"Queen America, I need you to tell me where the pains are coming from," she asked me calmly.
"Lower Abdomen," I said tryingto use as few words as possible.
"Alright everybody, I believe the Queen is going into labour, so I'm going to need you all to get her to the hospital."
"How," a guard asked.
"Wheelchair or stretcher, just don't carry her, it'll be too painful"
I groaned as more pains surged through.
Maxon's POV:
I missed America so much. Sounds cheesy, but I literally don't know what I would do without her. Being away from was just too painful. I don't know how she is managing especially with our little prince in her stomach.
This month I really thought about our positions in the world. Being King is different than being Prince. People actually listen to you and suddenly your appearance matters ten times more.
I was so proud when I was told of the magazine articles. I wasn't able to read them or watch the interview, but I was told of what an amazing job Mere did.
We were 10 minutes away from home. I was beyond excited to see my beautiful wife as well her smile. It had been so long since I could immediately be in a better mood by her. I just wanted to walk in through the door to see and give her a kiss.
The thought brought a smile to my face. This one month journey barley did anything which was what was awful. America had been smart and figured out what we actually needed to know. I hadn't gotten to talk to her properly because our calls were recorded.
"King Maxon, may I ask why you are smiling," Carter asked. We had gotten to be pretty good friends. Just like America could relate and asked Marlee to come, Carter and I both missed our wives. Especially since he just found out Marlee is pregnant and hasn't even spoken to her.
I felt so bad. If I were him I wouldn't be able to even breathe with knowing my wife might be carrying a child.
"Just excited to see America," I said grinning.
"Me too, I can't wait to see Marlee especially if she is pregnant," Carter said nervously.
I chuckled and replied, "America's stomach must be huge by now."
"9 months?" He asked.
"8 and a half."
The palace came into view and we were almost at the front door.
I kept tapping my foot and the moment the stopped the car I stepped out.
I didn't run knowing I'd be scolded by someone, but I walked fastly to the doors. Carter was right next to me just as eager to go inside.
"It's good to have you back Captain and King Maxon," a guard said before opening the doors.
"It's good to be back, Officer Jefferson," Carter replied.
I smiled and then immediately looked for America.
She wasn't there.
I froze.
I saw Marlee jogging down the hallway. Her eyes met Carter's and he ran towards her.
He span her around in the air and then pulled her in for a kiss. I tried not to look and make it akward.
Her feet were still off the ground and her arms clung around Carter.
"I missed you so much Marlee," Carter said.
"Me too and I-I... Did you hear... Or I could tell you now... Or..." She said her words trailing off.
"Wait, you're really pregnant?" Carter asked slowly.
" You know?!"
"Yeah, are we going to have a baby?" He asked excitedly.
"We are," Marlee said and hugged Carter again.
"I wish I was here, I'm sorry Marlee," Carter said once they broke apart.
Her eyes went wide and she turned to me.
"King Maxon, America... She's going into labour," Marlee said hurriedly.
That's all it took for me to run as fast as I could to the hospital wing.
I stopped at the doors when the guards said, "I'm sorry your highness, but we have strict ordes to not let anyone go inside while the Queen is in labor "
"That's my wife in there," I yelled.
Marlee and Carter had caught up by now.
"We know your majesty, but the doctor specifically said absolutely no one could come in.
I couldn't take it I ran into the door and opened it. I saw that Marlee had followed, but Carter had stayed behind.
A couple nurses were running around and Doctor Melina was trying to calm America down.
"How do I do this without Maxon?" I heard America say before letting out a cry of pain. I watched as her body tensed up and her head fell backwards. She squinted her eyes and her hands held the blankets tightly.
I ran to her and fell onto my knees right next to the bed. America opened her eyes and took in a breath, but didn't let it go until she spoke.
"Oh my god, Maxon," She said tears brimming her eyes.
I think her wash of pain had vanished... For now.
She threw her arms over my shoulders. I hugged her as tightly as I could careful to not touch the baby bump.
The doctor smiled at us before saying , "America is in labor so I suggest you hold her hand when the pains come and just let her concentrate. She definitely won't be able to push yet, but soon. It's going to hurt... A lot."
I watched as the doctor walked to a table with water and I told America that I'd be right back.
"Will everything be okay?" I asked doctor Melina.
"I'm not sure," she replied.
"I'm going to have her change and check her stomach, hopefully everything will be alright," she continued.
I nodded and then went back to America.
"Hello, my darling," I said.
"Hello, my beloved rock god," America said giving a weak smile.
I tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
"I'm sorry America. I'm supposed to be here for every step and I left you. I just lost the chance to witness every chance of our first child coming into the world " I said looking away from her gentle blue eyes.
"No no, it's okay. You did what you had to and that can't be helped. You are here now Maxon, that's all that matters." Ameirca replied tears around her eyes.
"We need to both admit to ourselves that we aren't going to be able to be here for everything. I know I want to and you do to, but that's not how life works. It has a way of making everything a lot harder than we want it to be," She got out before going into pain mode again.
The doctor came and stood beside me.
"Hold her hand and put your other one beneath her neck so she knows she has the support," she whispered.
I gently did as she suggested and America weakly opened her eyes and thankfully nodded at me.
I couldn't believe we were going to actually have our baby.
"One last push," the doctor said and our baby was out.
I tried to place a kiss on the top of America's head, but she pushed me away.
"I just gave birth, Maxon," she said rolling her eyes.
I smiled glad to see that her usual fiery self was returning. As much as I love what a wonderful Queen she is, I don't want her to lose her old self. I don't think she does either.
Suddenly she screamed again and this time I was confused. Hadn't the baby already gotten out.
"King Maxon, those scars... They aren't supposed to open again unless... When and how did she get them?" The doctor demanded.
I gulped. I could lie, but why? My father was dead and plus he didn't need to be protected.
"King Clarkson whipped her, they are about a year old," I said sadly.
The look of confusion was scaring me. The thing is, Doctor Melina always managed to work in the moment.
Without asking questions she said, "A couple deep ones are hurting her. I need to treat America before they cause damage," she said immediately runnin and getting supplies.
Why? Was all I could think. Why did my awful father be a monster to my wife.
"Maxon," I heard America croak.
"I want to hold our baby," she said with her cracked lips.
My head turned as fastly as it could toward our little boy.
I nodded at the nurses who gently placed our little prince in my arms.
My eyes went wide at first, scared that I would drop him, but I knew that I wouldn't. I let a tear slide down my cheek.
He slowly opened his eyes revealing the blue that I saw in America's
"They're blue, just like I wanted our child to have," I said excitely.
I gently placed him in America's fragile arms.
"He has your blond hair," She said grinning.
"He's the perfect blend," I said not removing my eyes from our new child.
"We're parents," America said as tears slipped through her watery eyes.
Her hands shook and I took him out and gave him to the nurses to clean up.
I held America in my hands while the doctor came back. They started performing some surgery as well as put her to sleep.
I kept asking if she would be okay, and no one answered. Finally at the end Doctor Melina said, "She's going to be okay."
Ameirca's POV:
I woke up and realized that I was still in the hospital. I slowly remembered everything. I remembered the painful experience of giving birth to our baby and then ... I have no idea.
I quickly sat up and then let out a moan at the pain that had shot up.
I felt Maxon hold me and say, "Hey, how are you feeling?"
"What do you mean?"
"Oh. Well umm... You had to get surgery because of the whip marks on your back," he said guiltily.
"Hey it's okay, I'm feeling fine," I said smiling.
"She stitched up the wounds." He said again.
I nodded and then my face lightened up.
"Our baby," I said excitedly.
Maxon brightened up as well.
"He's so adorable and I can't believe he's ours. You should thank Marlee as well and your family is outside waiting. They haven't seen him yet," he said.
"Well let's let them meet him, but I'd like to stay here for 15 minutes. Could you help me up?"
"Are you sure you want to stand?" Maxon asked carefully.
I nodded and instead of just helping me, he gently carried me bridal style
He stopped suddenly and said, "Wait are you going to yell at me like yesterday."
I giggled and said. "Why don't you try being in labor."
He bent down and brushed our noses together.
"I'm good."
He let me down and slipped his hand around my waist. I still had some pregnancy weight.
I stared down at the baby carriage and buried my face in Maxon's chest. I couldn't believe our little decker was born yesterday, July 4th.
Our little...
