Chapter 35:

"Are you going to tell us how exactly we're getting to your leader?" I ask tapping my foot. Maxon and I were in a car with Denver and they were taking us to the airport.

"We take a plane to the province name Hansport. It's near the east coast area and it has great access to oceans. We take our supply of slightly small boats to a very small island in which we have our big ships. Nearly nobody knows of it and plus it's in the abandoned area north of Illéa. You see, Hansport is the border province so it's easy to leave from there. The land above is too cold and unknown for us so we stay on sea. The small island doesn't have our leader though. It's extremely tiny. There's another island which looks as if nobody is there where many of us live. There are caves and underground places for our shelter. We will go there and you will see why we wanted you to come. The entire travel will take 2 days, with minimal sleep. Then we will stay for 3 and then travel back in two. That is right in your week long limit."

"That's a long process," I muttered.

"The reason you guys never found the island with our ships is because you all simply were not looking for the right thing," He said.

"How do you guys do this?" Maxon asks.

"Well, fake passports are easy, and we have the smartest people where we live. You have no idea how much we've accomplished," Denver replied.

"I mean, don't you have personal lives that don't revolve around this entire group?"

He just shrugged and turned around as a reply.

I laid my head on Maxon's shoulder and gave a yawn due to the lack of sleep..

He adjusted his body so his arm was around my body. I closed my eyes and put my hands on his chest while snuggling close to him.

A painful memory of last night's dream shot through my mind and I nearly jumped out of Maxon's embrace. Denver's head whipped back looking at my startled body.

"Is she okay?" He asked.

Maxon's hands were on my shoulder gently steadying me before I started shaking.

"I'm fine," I said as confidently as my scarred mind would allow.

Maxon brushed a strand of hair near my ear back before whispering, "I promise nothing bad will happen."

I nodded, but restrained from burying my head in his chest.

"We're not here to hurt you," Denver said.

"As you can tell, I'd love for you to be mine, but we're not going to hurt you."

"Why? You barley know me and if you can't tell, I'm love with the most amazing man in the world." I say.

I looked over at Maxon who's hands were in fists. I swear he wanted to rip that guy's throat out.

"I know you." He said before looking away.

The rest of the ride was silent and awkward. Luckily, before we knew it, we were at the airport, going through a secret door, so the public doesn't see us.

We were finally on the plane and I was glad to finally be sitting down. We had to make sure no one saw us, and the flight people were signed to secrecy as well.

This time Denver wasn't near us which I think Maxon really enjoys as do I.

Denver hadn't said a word since the car ride and I'm starting to wonder why. I wanted more details then just, "I know you."

Last time I was on a plane I barfed… a lot… so I wasn't looking forward to this. The attendant said that we were getting ready to take off.

As I took a deep breath, Maxon reached for my hand. His thumb traced circles on my soft skin.

I let my eyelids close and prepared to go up.

Once the pressure died down I opened my eyes.

"Are you feeling okay?" Maxon asked worriedly.

"Yeah, it's just because last time wasn't the best ride in my life."

He gave me a kiss before telling me to sleep. I couldn't though. I was scared of the bad images that might flash through.

I think he sensed my wide eyes even if his were closed because he pulled me into the warmest safest hug anyone could ever give.

No words, just an action. An action that I was beyond grateful for.

Once we landed we got in cars with covered windows that would go to the dock. From there we were off to the island where we would spend the night and then another trip to another island where the leader was. A very long process.

"Did you ever live in Illéa?" Maxon asks Axle.

"Uh no, not really. My dad grew up here for a while, but at a very young age joined the guerrilla. Denver's father's great-great-great grandpa was one of the men associated with the super computer. He was a genius. He could recreate, and make even more advancements to this computer. While people went to war and fought, he thought of a plan to preserve such great creations. He and his team passed down their work about 2 generations which is where Denver's father comes into play. Never did they manage to show their secret stash of technology, now named echolo. Denver's father decided to give this group a name. He was quite young, around 20. His father had passed away so it was his job to step up. This is when we made this all official. For 23 years we managed to create more tools that could make the entire world better. Now, we are lacking supplies which are why we took yours. If we wanted to succeed, we needed to take them. We're ready to show you, many things we have worked on for generations."

"That seems really complicated," I said.

"Since we are going to the first island and we still have a couple hours, I might as well tell you how I know you." Denver said.

I nodded for him to continue.

"Your biological father's father is a major, and known southern rebel. When we were recruiting people we met up with the southern rebels. Your father, and grandpa where on the trip. My father and yours became friends, but he never joined us due to your grandpa. When you were born, my father was the only one told. They really were quite close. Jonathan was a great man who didn't want to give you up, but he knew that was the best option. On your 19th birthday, you were going to meet Jonathan. Then you got into the Selection and all chaos happened. On that specific birthday, Jonathan wanted to bring you to our base and ask if you wanted to join."

"How the hell do you know all this? What if you're lying?" I ask angrily.

"Whoa, calm down there woman. Have you not been listening? MY father was best friends with YOUR father. My father and I are very close and when you were on TV, he told me everything. We watched every single thing you did."

"Don't yell at my wife," Maxon muttered.

"Look, I really don't want to be around stalkers. I may have forgiven my father, but that doesn't mean I'm not mad right now that there was so much planned for me. I didn't know anything and on top of that why do you guys care about the Selection?!" I said..err more like screamed.

"We wanted to know who you were."

I just looked down unable to comprehend everything. This was way too much.

"I need some space, just leave me alone for a while," I said getting up.

Maxon tried to follow, but I told him to leave me alone.

I went up on to mini boat's deck and sat on a box.

Why was my life so complicated?

Maxon's POV:

"Denver, let's have a little chat." I said.

Wow, that was complicated to write. There's just so much going on! I'm kind of excited for Maxon and Denver to have a private conversation ;) Tell me what you guys think about this chapter. Also, do you guys want the entire chapter 36 to be Maxon's POV? Or both America's and Maxon's'? Review, follow, and favorite!
