Jane groaned, feeling her back protest as she lifted yet another box. This one read 'kitchen' and Jane let out a puff of air as she felt the weight in her arms.
"Geez Ma, how much stuff do you own?" Angela rolled her eyes at her daughter, grabbing a box of her own. Jane scrunched up her nose as she read what was inside.
"Pillows and curtains? Can't you grab something heavy?"
"I'm not as young as you Jane. That's why you're doing all the lifting. You wouldn't want your mother to be sore tomorrow do you?" Jane muttered something under her breath, stepping over the threshold and into the guesthouse.
"Why couldn't you wait for Frankie to get off work? He's a guy." Setting down yet another box, she straightened her back to look at her mother.
"Because you all but kicked your poor mother out of your apartment. I could've waited a few days Janie."
"Fine, whatever. Is that it?" Angela gave her daughter a look, turning to walk back outside. Jane groaned, but followed obediently. As soon as the last box had hit floor she would be nursing a beer at Maura's. She started to regret convincing Maura that she would be fine and that the other woman didn't need to help.
Just as the honey blonde entered her mind, the very much lively one stepped out of her home. She smiled brightly at Jane, the Detective feeling her lips turn up involuntarily. She could never resist a smile like that.
"Hey baby." Jane greeted Maura with a quick kiss, hearing Angela coo at them from the truck. Maura blushed slightly.
"Hey, I was just coming out to check how things were going. Are you sure you don't need some help? I've seen you struggle with a few boxes Jane, this can't be good for your back. And your wrist." Jane saw the concern in Maura's eyes and was quick to wave it off.
"I'm fine Maur really. All the exercises have been getting easier and I'm working on getting the strength back. This is a really good exercise." She let her arms encircle Maura's waist, nuzzling the honey blonde's hair. Maura sighed contently, her own arms going around Jane's waist.
"Just… stop when you're feeling pain okay? You've been making such progress, I don't want you to have a fall back." Jane nodded, more to humor Maura than anything and pressed a quick kiss to her head.
"I will. Now the sooner I get done with this the sooner I can have that beer you owe me." With a wink, she grabbed another box and headed back inside, leaving Maura smiling after her.
"You're a good influence on her." Angela's voice rang out beside her and Maura nearly jumped out of her skin. The elder Rizzoli chuckled, a smile adorning her features.
"Please be patient with her Maura. Jane has a tendency to screw up things that are good for her. Except her job." Angela turned up her nose, apparently still not happy with her daughter's career choice. "But she has the right intentions." Maura looked at the other woman, a thoughtful look in her eyes.
"We've started out on the wrong foot. I guess I'm always worried Jane might use it against me if we argue. But… she's really sweet. And she might not always say it, but she shows it. And I'm not perfect either. We clash sometimes, but we make it work."
"Ma! You comin'!?" Angela sighed dramatically, but Maura could see the adoration in her eyes.
"I have lunch ready for when you're done." With a nod in Maura's direction, both women headed into their respective homes.
"Maura! I feel like I'm dying." Jane was sprawled out on the couch, her legs hanging from one side. They had finished lunch and Angela had gone back to the guesthouse to unpack and get settled in. Jane had crashed on the couch, her beer bottle in her hand.
Maura smiled, rolling her eyes slightly. Walking over to the couch, she patted Jane's legs, letting them swing back down on her lap as she sat down.
"You overdid it." It was a simple statement. A fact. Jane however, would have none of it.
"What! Maura, I chase bad guys for a living. All I did was carry a few boxes." Jane lifted her head to look at Maura, before dropping it back, letting out a groan as another shot of pain went through her body.
"You've been doing nothing but sit at a desk for the past six weeks Jane. You're body isn't used to any form of physical exertion. You should've let me help." The honey blonde gave her girlfriend a stern look. One that was reciprocated with another grunt.
Sighing, Maura stood up. Rather abruptly. Jane let out a yelp as her feet hit the ground and her body twisted in a not so good way.
"Up." Jane followed Maura's order, her eyes warily eying the other woman. Maura smiled and grabbed her hand, leading them to her bedroom.
Jane raised an eyebrow, dread filling her stomach. "Maura. As much as I love making love to you. I don't think my body can handle it today." A humorless laugh reached her ears, piquing her curiosity.
"Strip in the bathroom. Leave your panties on." Maura was strict in her orders and Jane followed like a puppy following her owner's orders.
She made quick work of discarding her clothes, groaning as she felt her body once again protest. She would not be getting out of bed tomorrow. Wrapping a towel around her, she stepped out of the bathroom. And stopped dead in her tracks.
Maura had closed the blinds, lit a few candles and put on some sort of yoga music. Jane remembered hearing this for the first time, making some kind of joke about it sounding more like yoda music. Of course Maura had no idea what she was talking about.
The honey blonde was standing at the foot of the bed, the sheets pulled back. This looked an awful lot like setting the mood for sex. She stepped forward hesitantly, her eyes searching Maura's for any kind of answer.
"Lie down Jane. On your stomach." Now she started to have some sort of idea what was going on. And when she saw the lotions on the nightstand, she was sure.
"You're giving me a massage?" Her tone betrayed the surprise she felt. But it also held a hint of affection. Maura smiled softly, nodding her answer.
Jane discarded her robe, lying down in the middle of the bed. She wiggled her ass for a moment, trying to get comfortable. Maura's chuckle made her raise her head.
"What's so funny?" She wiggled her ass for good measure, earning another chuckle.
"Are you comfortable?" Jane nodded, letting her head fall down on the pillow.
The bed shifted as Maura sat down next to her and soon after she felt a weight settle on her ass. She hummed, a smile on her face. She heard rather than saw Maura grab a bottle from the nightstand and felt a warm liquid on her back. The moment Maura's hands touched her skin, her eyes fluttered close.
"You're so tense Jane. You'd benefit by a weekly massage."
"I don't want a stranger touching me Maur. Besides, you're pretty good at this." Jane's voice was slightly muffled by the pillow, but Maura was able to hear her clearly.
"Tell me if it hurts." Jane snorted, and Maura rolled her eyes. Leave it to Jane to make everything sound dirty.
Jane let out appreciative moans as Maura let her hands wander up and down her back, putting pressure where needed. Jane had to admit that she was better than she thought. The honey blonde's hands moved from Jane's shoulders, down her side to the top of her waistband. Smirking to herself, she dipped her fingers slightly under Jane's panties. Hearing Jane take a deep breath, she bit back a chuckle.
"Tease." This time Maura did chuckle, letting her hands go back up to her neck.
Jane wasn't sure how long had passed, but she felt Maura's touch change. She was no longer massaging her.
"What're you doing?" Jane's voice was laced with sleep and she struggled to open her eyes.
"Writing." Raising an eyebrow, Jane concentrated on Maura's fingers. She laughed, figuring out what Maura had written.
"Jane heart Maura. Very novel-y Maura." The honey blonde chuckled, stopping her ministrations to lay down besides Jane.
She reached up to tuck a stray hair behind Jane's ear, letting her hand linger on the other woman's cheek.
"You're beautiful." The whisper made Jane's eyes open and she smiled.
"So are you."
"How are you feeling?" Jane took a deep breath and stretched, moaning as she felt her body awaken.
"God. I feel amazing. I don't feel any pain at all." The honey blonde smiled at her, satisfied with the Detective's words, before flipping her over, pinning Jane underneath her.
"That means I can get to the second part of the massage. Or are you still not up for it today?" Maura smirked as she saw Jane's eyes darken with arousal.
"I can go all night baby." Maura's laugh was cut short as Jane's lips found hers, her hands making quick work of disrobing the Doctor.
Jane was humming to herself as she walked into the kitchen. Maura was at the stove, making some delicious food. That is, if the smell was anything to give her an indication. She smiled, seeing the Doctor wearing her shirt. It barely covered her ass, giving her a good look at those legs of hers. It was one of her favorite parts of the Doctor. Truth be told, she loved everything about the Doctor. But those legs. Damn.
Maura turned around, feeling someone watching her. She smiled at her girlfriend, seeing the obvious appreciation in her eyes.
"Like what you're seeing?" Jane hummed in confirmation, making her way around the island to stand behind Maura.
"Definitely. You look good too." Maura faked being hurt, slapping Jane on her shoulder. The Detective laughed, pressing a kiss to Maura's neck.
"What are we eating?"
"Something I'm sure you'll like."
"Maura!?" Both women turned at Angela's voice, similar looks in their eyes.
The older woman walked in, completely forgetting to knock. She stopped when she saw Maura wearing Jane's shirt and Jane wearing Maura's robe. Someone else would apologize and turn on their heel to give their privacy, but Angela of course didn't.
"Am I interrupting something?" There was a slight tease in her voice and Jane sighed.
"Yes Ma. What do you want? We're kind of busy here." The Detective waved her hand around, emphasizing her point.
"I was just wondering if I could borrow some of Maura's spices. I haven't had the time to properly go grocery shopping." Maura nodded, a blush adorning her cheeks.
"Of course Angela. What do you need?" Jane watched in utter surprise as Maura and her mother moved around, talking animatedly about different meals and the different spices used for them. The fact that Maura was barely wearing anything didn't seem to faze either of them.
Jane didn't utter her word, only able to find her voice again after Angela had left them alone.
"She hasn't even been here for a day and she's already completely ignoring your rules." Maura merely shrugged, pressing a kiss to Jane's lips before turning back to the stove.
"She just has to settle in Jane. She'll knock next time." Jane raised a skeptical eyebrow, but decided not to push the subject. She wasn't really in the mood to talk about her mother. That would dampen the mood.
"Can you watch the food while I change Jane?"
"Why? You look fine to me." Her eyes wandered appreciatively over Maura, a smirk stuck on her face.
"I'm sure I look fine to you. But I don't want to ruin your shirt. And I'm getting kind of cold." Jane laughed. Maura was utterly adorable.
"Fine. But hurry up. Our exercise caused quite an appetite." Maura laughed when Jane wiggled her eyebrows. With a slap to the Doctors ass Jane sent her on her way.
It took Maura less than ten minutes to change into some comfortable clothes and bounce back into the kitchen. Jane plated up and they sat down on the couch, TV showing some kind of documentary. They ate in silence, Jane only commenting about how Maura was right and she did like it.
They made quick work of cleaning the dishes afterwards before snuggling on the couch. Jane grabbed a hold of the remote, flicking the channels until she found what she was looking for. She grinned as she sipped her beer. There was nothing better than watching the game, her girlfriend by her side and a beer in her hand. Life was good.
Maura watched the part of the game with her, before deciding to grab a magazine. She hadn't had time to catch up on her reading lately and this was the perfect time to do it. Maura didn't even register when the game had ended. She only looked up when she felt Jane start to leave a trail of kisses down her neck.
"Did they win?" Jane mumbled something incoherent, continuing her assault on the Doctors neck. Maura chuckled, letting her hand tangle in dark tresses.
"Let's go to the bedroom. I'm getting kind of tired." At Jane's smirk, Maura understood that the Detective wasn't tired at all. She laughed as she led Jane lead her to the bedroom, a twinkle in her eye.
