Jane and Maura spend their free weekend getting everything ready for their guests set to arrive Tuesday. By Monday evening they had everything completely set up and they were ready to welcome Maura's parents. Right now, they were ready to go to bed and Maura was feeling restless. Slipping underneath the covers, Maura snuggled into Jane's side. After several nights spend at the honey blonde's house, the Doctor found out that she couldn't sleep if she didn't have Jane's arms around her. Yes, cheesy, but true. Jane pressed a kiss to the top of Maura's head and set the alarm for 8 AM the next morning. That would give them enough time to get ready and pick up Constance and Gabriel Isles.

"Nervous?" Jane had noticed the shift in Maura's behavior. The honey blonde had been curt with everything and Jane had done her utmost best to make everything easy for her girlfriend. And for herself. Maura was the patient one. Jane wasn't. She was glad Maura's parents would be here tomorrow. She wasn't sure if she could stop the harsh comments to pass her lips if she had to spend a few more days like this.

"A little." Jane snorted at that and Maura sighed. "Okay, a lot. I just hope that I can sleep tonight." Pressing a kiss to Maura's cheek, Jane smiled at her.

"You will. You want to read something before you go to sleep?" At the shake of Maura's head, Jane reached over to turn off the lamp, embracing them in darkness.

"You think they'll like me?" Jane's vulnerability was easily heard and Maura tightened her embrace on the other woman.

"They'll love you. Mom already does and father is a sweet guy. He might give you a hard time at first, but he'll warm up to you quickly." Jane nodded, sighing softly.

Maura's nerves had started to rub off on her. She had heard a lot of stories about Maura's parents. And she was afraid that they wouldn't think she was worthy of their daughters love. She just hoped she didn't mess this up like she always messes things up. Maura might have been stubborn in letting her go, but her parents might not be.

They talked for a few more minutes, before letting their eyes close and having sleep envelop them.

"Jane, we're going to be late!" Maura's voice came from the kitchen and Jane rolled her eyes from the bedroom.

"Relax babe! We'll have time to spare." Checking herself in the mirror again, she hoped she looked good. She knew she had to go to work after dropping them off, so she was wearing her work slacks and blazer. The only difference was that she was wearing a nice shirt underneath it. Her badge and service weapon still stood out, but she didn't really care about that. Taking a deep breath, she nodded to herself.

"You can do this Rizzoli. No big deal. Just Maura's parents. It's not the damn president." Sighing, she rolled her eyes. "Although they might as well be." A chuckle from the doorway made her nearly jump out of her skin and she found an amused Maura looking at her.

"You don't need a pep talk Jane." Pushing herself off the doorway, she came to stand in front of Jane.

"You look beautiful. And the gun gives you a certain… edge to it." Jane smirked, shaking her head.

"You're like all those guys who get a kick out of the fact that I'm a detective. Y'know, handcuffs and all that." Maura shrugged, reaching up to wipe an invisible strand from Jane's collar.

"We might have to try that some time." Jane's eyes nearly bulged out of her head at that statement and to her own surprise, she found herself incredibly turned on by the image of Maura tied to the bed. Swallowing thickly, she cleared her throat to try and get herself back to the present.

Maura smirked, watching the emotions play across Jane's face. Tugging at the Detective's hand, she watched her stumble behind her.

"Come on, or we're really going to be late. And that wouldn't be a good first impression, would it?" Not trusting her voice, Jane merely shook her head.

They arrived at the airport thirty minutes later and Jane smiled at her companion.

"See, I told you we have time to spare!" Maura shook her head at Jane, her eyes betraying her amusement.

"You're right. How about a kiss as a reward?"

"Not saying no to that." They didn't take the kiss too far and kept their hands to themselves. They didn't want anything to get out of hand, especially not when Jane was fully aware of her handcuffs that were currently residing on the back of her belt.

Pulling away, they grinned at each other like love sick teenagers. Maura glanced down at her watch and with one last peck on Jane's lips stepped out of her car. Jane followed wordlessly and the two entered the airport. Checking the board to see which gate Maura's parents would be exiting, they headed there, waiting patiently for them to arrive.

Nearly twenty minutes of impatient – from Jane's side – waiting and they saw a stream of people head their way. Maura craned her neck, trying to find the familiar faces of her parents between the mass of people. However, due to her height she was having a little trouble. Jane on the other hand could easily oversee most of them and she spotted Constance and a shorter bald man first.

"Your dad bald?" Maura frowned at Jane, but nodded.

"Please don't say anything about that to him. He gets kind of sensitive about his… lack of hair." Jane didn't say anything, only pointing out to Maura where they were.

"Mom! Father!" Jane did found it odd that she called her mom 'mom' and her dad 'father'. Maybe it was just their thing, she reasoned.

Constance and Gabriel looked genuinely surprised seeing their daughter there, but that didn't keep the smiles off their faces.

"Maura! What are you doing here?" Maura smiled sweetly, embracing her mother with a ferocity Jane hadn't seen outside of the bedroom.

The two pulled away and Gabriel pulled his daughter in for a hug. Meanwhile, Constance turned to Jane, a smile on her face as she put out her hand.

"You must be Jane I presume?" The Detective nodded, accepting Constance's outstretched hand. The woman had a firm handshake Jane noted.

"It's nice to meet you Mrs. Isles." Constance waved a hand in between them.

"Please call me Constance. Mrs. Isles is my mother." Jane laughed genuinely, feeling some of the tension dissipate. That was, until she turned towards Maura's father.

The man had a thoughtful look in his eyes as he studied the woman in front of him. His eyes lingered on her badge and gun and Jane noticed something shift in his eyes.

"It's nice to meet you Jane. Maura has told us a lot about you. I hope we're not keeping you from your job." Jane shook her head, waving his concerns away as she grabbed his hand.

"You're not. Although I do have to get back soon." The man nodded in understanding, before turning to his daughter.

"Well, let's get out of here shall we?" Maura nodded and the four left. Jane was quick to carry Constance's bag and the look from Maura told her she scored some points with that.

As they got into the car and Jane drove away from the airport, Constance spoke up.

"Thank you for picking us up Maura, but we could've taken a cab, it wouldn't have been an inconvenience at all." Maura turned to look at her mother, her hand making its way to Jane's thigh. The Detective held back a flinch. She lost most of her coherent thoughts when the honey blonde did that.

"It's fine mom. Besides, Jane insisted that we pick you up. She didn't want you to take a cab and overpay for your trip. She also said something about gold diggers but I ignored that part." A chuckle from both parents made Jane smile.

"Well thank you Jane, we appreciate this." Jane nodded at Gabriel's reflection in her rearview mirror.

"No trouble at all sir." The man smiled at the Detective, the crow's feet around his eyes standing out even more.

"How is your wrist Jane?" Constance's voice filled the car as Jane stopped in front of a red light.

"Back to normal. Good thing too, I was kind of getting tired of sitting at a desk all day. Much rather be out there y'know? Catching the bad guys."

"Oh, we all understand. It's good to know that we're being kept safe. I told Constance that we'd have our own private body guard just before we landed." Jane laughed softly.

"Just try to keep your criminal activities to a minimum alright? I'm not really in the mood to arrest my girlfriend's parents. That wouldn't really score me any points." With a wink to the couple in the back, she let them know she was only joking. Maura was shaking her head.

"Oh Jane." They all shared a laugh.

Jane pulled into their driveway and helped Gabriel carry their suitcases into the house and into their room. Giving Maura a quick goodbye kiss, she told them she would be by later and left for work, giving the Isles' a moment alone.

As soon as the door closed, Maura turned towards her parents, her nerves obviously showing. She knew they both already approved, but they hadn't met her yet, they just knew what Maura told them. Constance and her husband shared a look, before turning to Maura.

"She's delightful honey." The Doctor breathed a sigh of relief, a smile tugging at her lips.

"Thanks, she's been really great." The three of them stood there for a moment, before Maura seemed to slip into her hostess mode.

"Please sit down and make yourself at home. Angela made something for us, if you're hungry?" At her parent's nod, she quickly went to the kitchen to fix a plate for the three of them. Returning with food and drinks, she sat down.

"I hope you like it." Constance laughed.

"Well, if we have to believe even half of what you've told us I'm sure we'll enjoy this." Maura blushed. She had been talking animatedly about the Rizzoli's and Angela's cooking was a big part of that.

"To be honest I thought you were slightly exaggerating, but this is everything you've said it was!" Maura blushed at her father's words. It was strange how a compliment about Angela made her feel this sense of pride. Maybe because the woman had been so nice to her and had treated her like one of her own from practically the start. Not counting the hospital.

The three of them took the opportunity they had to catch up on what they hadn't yet talked about on the phone. Maura felt a wave of happiness envelop her and warm her from the inside out. Of course she was happy with Jane, the woman gave her everything she needed and more. But the feeling of being with your parents was a completely different thing and the Doctor savored every second of it.

"Oh Maura dear?" Her father's voice made her look up at the man from refilling their drinks. "Were the mints your idea?" It took Maura all of five seconds to understand what her dad was talking about and her laugh filled the house. Constance and Gabriel shared a knowing look.

Jane couldn't wait to get home. Logging off, she was kind of glad for the slow day. The past weeks had been crazy and Jane was glad to have the past weekend off to recharge. Murder seemed to be taking a break and the Detective couldn't be happier about the timing. Grabbing her keys and putting on her jacket, she caught Frost looking at her.

"I completely forgot to ask how the in-laws are doing." Jane smiled at him. Leave it to Frost to remember these things.

"I admit that I was nervous to meet them, but they are really nice people. Rich and they talk like Maura but even more so… if that makes sense." Jane shook her head. "Maura's really happy to see them." Her partner smiled.

"And if Maura's happy, you're happy right?" Jane laughed.

"Right. I'll see you guys tomorrow." With a wave of her hand, Jane made her way to the elevators. She couldn't wait to go home to her girlfriend. The thought always got the same reaction, a smile to her face.

She heard Maura's laugh as she walked in and the sound instantly made her stomach flutter. Closing the door behind her and dropping her keys in the designated spot, she stashed her gun and badge in the drawer.

"Looks like things are going well here." Maura beamed at her girlfriend when she saw her and rushed to greet her, throwing her arms around Jane's neck.

"Did you miss me this much? Whatever are you going to do without me Maura Isles?" The honey blonde giggled, pressing a light kiss to Jane's lips.

"You added the mints?" Jane shrugged, an innocent look in her eyes.

"The gnomes did that. Or Bass. The judge is still out on that." Maura raised her eyebrows.

"Oh, so Jo is safe from all this?" Jane gave her an incredulous look.

"Uhm yeah. Jo would've probably eaten them and not take it to their pillows." Maura seemed understanding.

"Yes, I guess your right. What I'm not sure of, however, is how Bass would've been able to get on the bed."

"Well, he can climb my shoes, I have no doubt he could climb the bed if he really wanted to." Maura looked straight into Jane's eyes and leaned in for another kiss, this one longer.

"Thank you." Jane cocked her head, acting like it was not a big deal.

Constance and Gabriel had watched the scene in front of their eyes and had smiles on both their faces. The two seemed perfect for each other. And they were glad their daughter was happy. Jane turned towards them, a smile on her face.

"Anyone hungry?"
