The banging of pots and pans made Jane open her eyes. She groaned softly, her whole body feeling completely sore. Looking to her left, she found Maura still peacefully snoozing, a small smile adorning her features. Jane felt something inside of her shift. Felt a certain happiness fill her entire being. The way it was now, that was how it should always be, minus Garrett of course.

Another bang from downstairs made her sigh softly. Slowly untangling herself from Maura, she watched the honey blonde move around, before occupying Jane's spot. The Detective rolled her eyes, a smile tugging at her lips. Her girlfriend looked so utterly adorable. She should take a picture. Her eyes suddenly lit up in excitement and she rushed to grab her phone. Finding the right angle, she snapped a picture quickly. Checking the picture, she seemed satisfied with it and with one last look, headed downstairs.

Just as she expected, she found her mother busy bustling around the kitchen. A heavenly smell filled her nostrils and she hummed in pleasure. She hadn't forgotten about what happened yesterday and she was feeling slightly guilty. All her mother was trying to do was help and she was being a complete jerk. Entering the kitchen, she cleared her throat, effectively getting Angela's attention. The woman's head snapped up and she smiled softly, her eyes showing her uncertainty.

"Hey Ma." Jane's voice was soft as she took a seat. Angela fidgeted with the rag she held in her hands, her eyes cast down.

"Mornin' Janie." The two were silent for a moment, before both spoke at the same time.

"I'm sorry I was suck a jerk."

"I'm should've taken your side." They looked at each other, laughter bubbling out of their mouths.

"You go first." Jane encouraged her mother, smiling softly at the other woman. Angela nodded, taking a breath.

"You were right. I should've taken your side, no questions asked. You're my daughter. And I love you more than life itself. And I know that I don't show it enough. I know that I keep nagging you about your career choice and that it's your fault Frankie's a cop too, but… that isn't true. It's his own choice to follow his big sister and I'm glad he has such a good role model. I'm proud of you Janie, of everything that you do and are."

Jane hadn't expected this. She was hoping for an apology and a snappy remark, like Angela always did. Her sarcasm had to come from someone right? But this… never had her mother actually told her she was proud of her being a Detective. She had always told her that it was too dangerous and that she never slept when Jane was out. And she always blamed everything that happened to Frankie on her. So to say that this surprised her was an understatement. So it wasn't strange that it took her a moment to get her thoughts and feelings in order before responding.

"Thanks Ma. That means a lot. And I'm sorry too, I shouldn't have put you on the spot. I know that you love me and you want the best for me but I just…" Jane sighed, picking at her nails. "I was having a bad day and I took it out on you." Angela shook her head, reaching out to take her daughter's hands in her own.

"It's okay Janie. That's what mothers are for sometimes." Then with a frown. "How are you and Maura?" The smile that suddenly lit up her daughter's eyes spoke more than words ever could.

"We're good. I uhh, kind of did what you and Pop always did. The whole not sleeping apart thing? We talked because of it and… everything's good. At least I hope so."

"Everything is." The sound of Maura's voice made both women look up at the Doctor. Maura smiled softly, stepping forward to embrace Jane from behind, pressing a kiss in her hair.

"Good. And just so you know Maura, I won't tell anyone about what Jane told me." The honey blonde smiled at the older woman, nodding her head in understanding.

"I know Angela. But I guess it didn't stop me from feeling as if you were going to. I was waiting for the grenade to drop. But I know now that it won't." A chuckle from both women had her frowning a few seconds later. "What's so funny?" Jane grabbed a hold of the hands that were hanging over her shoulder, giving them a squeeze.

"It's 'waiting for the bomb to drop' babe. Not grenade." She looked up just in time to see the pout appear on Maura's face and couldn't stop herself from leaning up to suck on the lip that was sticking out.

Angela rolled her eyes for good measure before resuming her task of making breakfast. Jane let go of Maura's lip with a plop, a grin etched on her face. Maura chuckled softly, nuzzling her nose into Jane's hair, the smell of lavender and citrus filling her.

"I'm trying." Her voice was slightly muffled, but Jane heard it none the less and she laughed softly.

"I know babe. You're doing good."

"Well."

A sigh.

"Fine, you're doing well. You know what scares me though?" She felt Maura shake her head. "The fact that you're getting better at sarcasm. And rolling your eyes. You've mastered that one." Maura pulled away to sit down next to Jane, leaning her head on the Detective's shoulder.

"I had a good teacher." Jane pressed a kiss to Maura's temple, letting her right arm encircle the Doctor's waist.

"That is true. You had the best there is."

"Well, I wouldn't say the best, but…" Jane narrowed her eyes, the sarcasm in Maura's voice not going unnoticed by her. Raising an eyebrow at Maura's amused look, she watched as the honey blonde merely shrugged her shoulders. Jane rolled her own eyes. She should have never taught her these things. She knew they were going to bite her in the ass one day. And that day had already come. Sooner than she expected.

"Why don't you girls go take a shower before breakfast? Because it doesn't look like you're going to help this poor woman anytime soon." And there it was. Jane rolled her eyes at her mother.

"Like you let us help you. You pretty much kicked me out of my kitchen at my old place whenever you came over."

"That's because you always burn the food you cook." Jane raised her eyebrows.

"What!? I haven't burned anything in months." Angela scoffed, giving her daughter a look that she knew all too well.

"You can hardly burn anything when you order take-out. Poor Maura. She's trying to make you a healthier person but you do everything you can to make it as hard as you can on her. It's a wonder she even puts up with you at all." Jane's jaw hit the floor and she sputtered to find an answer. Maura eventually closed her mouth, before addressing her mother.

"Jane has been surprising me by cooking some excellent dishes Angela. You'd be surprised." And she was, if the look on her face was anything to go on. She kept glancing between Jane – who still needed Maura's hand to keep her mouth closed – and Maura. She knew the honey blonde couldn't lie and she wasn't showing any telltale signs that she was. Narrowing her eyes on her daughter, she huffed.

"So why have you never cooked for your mother?" Jane looked like a deer caught in the headlights and she was quick to change the subject.

"We're going to take that shower now. Come on Maur." Grabbing Maura's hand that had been holding her jaw, she rushed the two out of the kitchen.

"Don't think we're done young lady! I want a proper answer!" Maura's giggle caught her attention and she frowned at the other woman.

"You think this is funny?" When all she got was an innocent look, she pushed Maura into the bathroom first, closing and locking the door behind her.

"Oh really? So, you're looking forward to spending more evenings with my mother?" The Doctor frowned, cocking her head to one side.

"Why would that be a bad thing? Angela is a lovely woman Jane. And she's your mother. Why wouldn't you want to spend some more time with your mother?" Jane heard the double meaning behind those words, but that didn't stop her from following through with her plan.

"Oh, it's not that exactly. It's more that…" Jane pushed Maura up against the wall, leaning in close. "I won't be able to do this." Her lips found Maura's sensitive spot right where her neck met her shoulder and started to suck. "Or this." Her hand slowly trailed up Maura's stomach, only stopping to cup a breast. She heard the shallow breaths and felt her heart starting to beat faster under her lips. Her plan was working.

"Or how about this?" She let her other hand travel south, cupping Maura over her pajama pants. The Doctor took in a sharp breath, letting it out through a hiss.

"Jane." But the Detective wasn't done.

"And we really wouldn't be able to do this." Pushing Maura's top up, she was met with the sight of her girlfriend's breasts. Her nipples were already hard and she didn't hesitate to lock her lips on them.

This time Maura let out a low moan, arching her back into Jane, trying to get more contact. Jane started a slow rhythm with her other hand, rubbing Maura over her pants. The Doctor's hips started moving on her own and she needed to feel Jane, needed to feel her on her.

"Jane please." Brown eyes locked with hazel and Jane pulled back with a smirk. Maura's eyes widened when the other woman stepped back, taking in her frazzled state.

"What are you doing?" She watched Jane shrug nonchalantly, stripping in front of her.

"I'm taking a shower." This time it was Maura's jaw that hit the floor and all she could do was stare at her girlfriend. Jane chuckled. "You're gonna catch flies Maura." She closed her mouth with a snap, her eyes narrowing to slits.

Jane stepped under the hot water, sighing in pleasure. Feeling a weight settle on her back, she turned to see Maura behind her, her eyes dark with arousal. Jane swallowed, maybe teasing her wasn't such a good idea. And she was about to find out exactly how stupid she had been.

A satisfied Maura and a grumpy Jane entered the kitchen thirty minutes later. Both were clean and dressed comfortably. The only thing that Jane wasn't, was satisfied. Maura had teased her mercilessly and just as she was about to go over the edge, the honey blonde pulled away completely, rinsed herself off and stepped out to dry herself off. It had taken Jane until Maura was completely dried and was starting to get dressed to find out that Maura wasn't going to finish what she had started.

So, with a new plan and a smirk on her face, she had finished what Maura started herself, hoping to get some reaction from the honey blonde. But Maura was seemingly unimpressed with what Jane was doing and hadn't even spared her a second glance. That, of course, meant that Jane was left feeling far less satisfied than when Maura made her come. And that was why she was currently pouting, frowning and almost stomping her way into the kitchen.

But they found that Angela had already left, leaving them to themselves. Sitting down on opposite sides, Jane kept her eyes fixed on Maura. Eventually, Maura settled her gaze on Jane, daring her to say something.

"You're evil you know that? I can't believe you just did that!" Maura bit her lip, failing to keep her laughter in, but succeeding in lessening it to a chuckle.

"You're not any better Jane. I hope this teaches you to finish what you started. Wouldn't want me to remind you again would you?" The Detective's eyes narrowed on her girlfriend and she scoffed.

"I wouldn't start celebrating just yet if I were you." Maura raised her eyebrows, clearly seeming to like the game they were playing.

"Oh really? And why is that? I surely hope you aren't threatening me Detective." Jane smirked, playing along.

"And why is that? Are you going to arrest me?" The handcuffs conversation suddenly entered her mind and she flushed. Looking down at her plate, she tried to hide her blush. But of course, she failed miserably. Maura smirked, remembering the same exact conversation.

"Well, I might have to use certain… instruments to make you listen to me." Jane felt like her whole body was on fire and she started squirming in her seat. If the honey blonde was going to keep talking like this she wasn't sure how long she would be able to keep her hands to herself.

Maura was quiet for a moment, studying Jane. She knew for a fact that her girlfriend was turned on. Her body language told her so, but she wasn't sure if Jane was up for anything they had been hinting towards. The conversation about using other things had come up only once – not counting the time they talked about Jane's handcuffs – and Jane was fast to turn the conversation a different way.

"Jane?" Jane looked up, her eyes dark with arousal, but also uncertainty. "I'm sorry. I know that you don't like the idea of us using other instruments to-" Jane quickly cut her off.

"It's not that." Her voice was hoarse and Maura felt a chill run up her spine. "I don't like using anything… well… like that. But I never said anything about handcuffs. I want to feel you inside of me Maura, not some… fake penis. You're all I need." She took a shaky breath. "But if you keep talking like this then… fuck. We really need to try the cuff's thing sometime. Preferably sometime in the near future." Maura laughed, shaking her head at her girlfriend.

"I guess you're right. But let's finish the breakfast that your mother made us first. We don't want to seem ungrateful, now do we?" Jane grinned at her over the kitchen island, making a show of taking a bite of her pancakes. Maura's eyes were fixed on her tongue as it left her mouth to catch a drop of syrup and she licked her lips. How could something so simple look so damn sexy? They really needed to try the cuffs soon. Very soon.
