Ace: Did Nudge's chapter make sense at all? I feel that I could do better with explaining the dimensions thing. If you can find anything that is lacking something (like it needs an example or it is very vague), please state so in your reviews, and I'll fix it as soon as possible. Thank you.
And I'm doing something that might make many of you scream because I forgot something, or at the end. But some people will not care. I just know it.
One last thing: I'll explain the meaning of the chapter name... Later.
Disclaimer: I don't own Maximum Ride.
Chapter 7: Kasai no rīdā
Iggy
"You're actually going to give me my vision back?" I asked suspiciously. The last time someone promised me better sight, I lost it. Then again it was the School trying to enhance my night vision, but I didn't have a choice with them. I just heard this guy talking in my head, so I definitely can't trust this guy. But I do want my sight back. It's been forever since I could see what my friends, and feeling colors and seeing white will never make up for it...
Yes Iggy, the voice replied. If you pass some tests, you will be able to see again.
"What do you mean by 'tests'?"
I need to see your abilities to make sure I didn't make a mistake like I did the last time. The last boy claimed to be weak, but he wasn't in reality and used his gift of superior strength against others after, so I took it away from him. But you want to find your sister Max and to do so you need sight. You more or less know direction, right?
"If I didn't know direction, I wouldn't even be here," I muttered to myself.
Good point, the voice replied. Call me Kasai. See if you can find the shrine nearby.
Okay, I thought back. What does the shrine look like?
It's red, Kasai replied.
"That's helpful," I muttered to myself. I began to walk around and touch my nearby surroundings to see what color they were, and after walking in a circle on the edge of clearing, I tripped over something and fell flat on my face.
Um, Kasai? I asked mentally.
Yes, he responded.
Does the shrine have a statue that's in the front that's red?
Yes.
Then I found it.
So if you don't know your environment, you can trip on anything, like a statue, Kasai mused.
Yeah, I responded.
Can you get up? He asked.
Yep, I thought as I got up.
I'll help you into the shrine so you don't trip again, Kasai offered.
How? I asked.
Kasai suddenly appeared (or was he there the entire time? I don't know, because remember, I'm blind) , he helped me up, he grabbed my hand and pulled me forward to the shrine. He let go after a while, and I began to jog after Kasai. The doors shut behind me, but I didn't pay attention to them. I only focused on hearing Kasai's footsteps, and he was slow enough for me to catch up.
"Um, Kasai?" I asked.
"Yes Iggy?" He responded.
"You can talk out loud?"
"I'm hard to explain, but I used telepathy to make sure that no one else heard our conversation, as there are onis, or demons, out there. What was your original question?"
"What are we doing?"
"I need to see what else you can do. Tell me your abilities, and I'll provide-"
"I can fly, build bombs out of anything, touch objects and say what color they are, see the color white, cook, and annoy Max," I responded.
Kasai stopped and I crashed into him. He asked, "What makes you fly?"
"This place called 'The School' experimented with me and a few others, like my sister Max. They injected avian DNA in us, and did experiments to see our abilities, one of which caused me to become blind."
"I understand. Something, although it happened long ago, happened, and it forced me to stay in this area since then. I just want to see your flying ability, and I'll restore your eyesight," Kasai stated.
We kept walking, and Kasai opened a door. "We are in a large room with a high ceiling. Try to fly, and I'll let you know when to stop before you hit the ceiling."
"Okay," I managed.
I spread out my wings. Man, they were held together for so long, my back ached a little. I moved them a little bit, then I kicked off the ground and flew straight up.
"Awesome!" Kasai yelled.
"Yeah!" I began to do loop de loops around the room and other cool tricks. It's been a while since I had fun, and I wasn't going to let this opportunity go.
"Iggy, get down now!" Kasai yelled suddenly after I had been flying for several minutes.
"Why? I just started having fun," I replied.
At that second, I felt a giant hand scratch my chest and face, and I plummeted to the ground like a rock. As I hit the ground, I could feel my systems slowing down.
What's... Going... On? I asked myself. Why... Did... This... Happen?
An evil laugh filled the room. "You will never defeat me, Kasai no rīdāi! This hero of yours that you plan to use against me to free yourself will die in forty seconds, as I have poisoned him! And this is one of the deadliest poisons in this dimension, and I don't think that there is a cure for it, but if there is one, it is not nearby you! And I'll kill you next, Kasai!"
Ace: I'm sorry for the late update and for the short chapter, as I have been planning this out for a long time (and I was doing other stuff too.) And I'll finish this sequence next chapter... I think. Might take me two chapters...
Kasai no rīdā means leader of fire.
