"Lyra," Asril said as he shook her. "Lyra. Wake up."
"She's been drugged."
"What?" Asril said before he looked at his demon, then to Marisa. He stepped forwards and carefully took Lyra's pulse. "She's alive. I will bring her with us, then it will lead the boy to me," Asril said and he gathered Lyra into his arms and left. He left a note for Will and headed back to the camp.

"How is she?" Asril asked as he checked on Lyra.
"I am trying to wake her, but the drug is very powerful."
"Is she alright?" Asril asked after a moment.
"Yes. She is just sleeping."
"Good," Asril said and he turned to leave.
"Roger…" Lyra whispered and Asril turned back.
"Lyra?"
"She is doing this often. Talking in her sleep."
"I will… find you…" Lyra said and Asril came to his daughter. "I will come… for you…"
"She is dreaming?"
"Yes sir," They said and Asril looked at Lyra in worry. He then saw Pan stir and he crouched down.
"Pan."
"Asril…"
"You're safe. I'm not going to hurt you."
"Where are we?"
"At my camp. What is Lyra dreaming about?"
"I can't… can't see it…"
"Then this is a cause for concern," Asril said and Pan went back under.
"Keep working and let me know the moment she wakes."
"Yes sir."

"Lyra. She's awake," They said and Asril came quickly.
"Lyra. You are not to go to the land of the dead," Asril said sternly as he entered, but Lyra looked at him. His gaze softened and she tried to focus.
"Asril?"
"Yes. Lyra," He said as he looked at the person to the side of him. "You are safe. I will not hurt you."
"Where's… Mrs Coulter?"
"Marisa is in our cells. She…" Asril said but Lyra fell to the side and he caught her.
"She is not with it yet."
"I can see that," Asril said as he sat Lyra up and sat beside her.
"Pan…"
"I'm here," Pan said.
"Are you alright?" Asril asked Lyra.
"I don't… Where's Will?"
"The boy? I don't know. But he should come for you."
"You need him for… something…"
"No. No I…"
"Father…" Lyra said before she fell against him.
"We must let her rest. Whatever you're doing, keep it up. Bring me updates."
"Yes sir," They said and Asril lay Lyra down. He went to leave when Pan spoke.
"Wait."
"Pantalaimon?"
"Thank you."
"For what?"
"For saving us. When Lyra wakes… we will not stay long."
"She wants to find Roger?"
"Yes. Because of… you…" Pantalaimon said and Asril came to him.
"I am sorry. What I did that night haunts me every day. But Lyra must not go in search of him. If you travel there, you will be seperated."
"Murh," Pan purred in question.
"She was there. When you separated them."
"Lyra was where?"
"The mountain. … We touched the cage."
"The cage?!"
"Yes," Pan said before he blacked out.
"Pantalaimon? Pantalaimon! Pantalaimon!"
"Asril," They said and Asril calmed down.
"When her dæmon wakes, inform me."

"He is awake," They said and Asril went straight to the tent.
"Tell me what happened."
"Asril…"
"On that night. Tell me now."
"We awoke and… Roger was gone. We went… out."
"You saw me?"
"Yes… We waited in the shadows… and Lyra touched… Roger…"
"Then I killed him. What next?"
"We… we were in the air. … Then we awoke."
"You were caught in the blast."
"Mari… Coulter. Was there…"
"She did not see you?"
"No… We hid."
"I see."
"Sal… Salsil… ia… She was gone. Lyra held him… Roger…"
"She has not forgiven me."
"No…"
"Alright," Asril said and Pan faded out once more.
