"Should you really be walking around right now?"
"I already told ya I was fine, didn't I? Besides, your the one who should be all tired after I used my cursed technique on ya,"
"...Your right, I should just head back to my bed."
Quickly grabbing Fushiguro's arm before he could actually leave, Danuja started to drag the male toward the crematorium building where they were currently headed. Gojo had informed both of them to meet him here, but it felt a little wrong to Danuja.
Itadori was probably saying goodbye to his loved one right now, and after all the chaos last night, who knew what else Gojo was throwing at the poor guy. She just felt her sensei could have at least given Yuji a bit more time to process everything and deal with any personal affairs before he was introduced to their school's principal.
Then again, I guess I was thrown into this life pretty quickly myself...And even if its been years since I was last here...this place still gives me the creeps Danuja thought, wrapping her arms around her shivering body when she followed Megumi down the honestly cold and dark halls that were barely lit. Its like the people that run this joint intentionally make it look all foreboding like this...
"Good stuff! You're really growing on me, kid! Looks like hell is shaping up to be fun," Danuja could hear Gojo's cheerful voice exclaiming from the room up ahead. "Make sure you're packed by the end of the day."
"We going somewhere?"
"Tokyo." Fushiguro answered when the automatic doors were opened the moment Danuja and him stepped in front of them.
"Fushiguro! You're looking good!" Itadori declared, giving the dark haired male a thumbs up. At the silent blunt look he was given, comprehension seemed to don on Yuji. "Wait...Whoa! Why's Ena covered in bandages?! I thought you were the one all beat up, Fushiguro?!"
"You're just now noticing that...?" Fushiguro questioned with a sigh. He was beginning to wonder about this guy's intelligence.
Danuja found herself letting out a small laugh. "I just used my cursed technique on Fushiguro-san is all. Whenever I touch someone who's injured, their wounds leave their body and come onto me. So, it's like that person was never hurt to begin with,"
"Wait, seriously?"
At Yuji's incredulous expression, Gojo snickered. "Ena-chan here has a pretty interesting ability. It might not be as flashy as some others who use reverse cursed energy to heal, but the fact that her body can handle some pretty serious injuries and they only last a day or so makes her a useful asset."
"But she's still covered in bandages?" Itadori pointed out, even casually poking at one of the smaller ones upon the girl's cheek.
Unrolling the gauze that was wrapped around her forehead to show there wasn't a single cut or bruise to be found, Danuja gave Itadori a peace sign and half-smile. "Ta-da!"
"That's amazing!" Itadori praised, clapping his hands like a child who had been shown an impressive magic trick.
A small blush formed on Danuja's face, and she awkwardly rubbed at the back of her neck from the compliment. "It really ain't that big of a deal..."
Shaking his head at the two, Megumi brought up, "Itadori, you'll be enrolling in the same school that Ena and I attend. Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School,"
"And this will make you the fourth student who will be attending the first year classes, by the way," Gojo chimed in with a bright grin.
Itadori balked at this. "Only four?!"
"Apparently the jujutsu community is pretty small. There's only two school's in the whole country," Danuja explained, her words making Itadori gawk "The other first year hasn't arrived yet, so you won't be the only new student attending. Wonder what they'll be like?"
"With any luck, less annoying than the two of you," Fushiguro grumbled, his words making Danuja just hum since she was used to being a vexation on most people while Itadori merely cocked his head. The spiky haired male then turned to Gojo. "Don't we have a train to catch?"
"Oh, you're right! It's Fushiguro's treat buying us our tickets~!" Satoru chirped out, casually swinging his arm around the lean male's shoulders.
"That's really cool of you, man!" Itadori said happily, giving a friendly pat to now lightly twitchy male.
"...You both are lucky I'm too tired to deal with either of you."
Once they had reached their destination, Itadori was surprised to see that they had come to the middle of nowhere. They still had a bit of a walk, but he could see the school even from this distance, and it looked pretty damn impressive. Several building's were styled in a traditional Japanese architecture. The place resembled more of a Buddhist temple than a high school.
"This is really deep in the mountains! Is this actually Tokyo?"
"Even Tokyo is like this on the outskirts," Gojo explained to the clearly awestruck teen. "On the surface, this place is known as a private religious school. Many jujutsu sorcerers continue to use it as a base after graduation., so it's a pillar of the jujutsu community not just for education, but for support and mediation in missions."
"Anyway, you're about to have an interview with the principal," Gojo continued as they all headed up a set up stone steps. "Screw it up and he could reject your admission, so go all-out."
"Eh?! And what then? Immediate ex-"
Before Itadori could finish that sentence, Gojo had slammed his hand over his mouth. Leaning closer, he whispered, "Shush, now. Fushiguro-kun and Ena-chan haven't been informed that the higher ups are still considering your execution. If you don't want to worry them, let's keep that to ourselves for now."
Sharing a look with Fushiguro when Yuji started to rapidly bob his head, Danuja wondered what that was about? It looked like Fushiguro was about to ask them what they were hiding, but he narrowed his eyes instead when hearing a familiar dark laugh. Danuja found her own body tensing up a little when seeing a mouth, that was devilishly grinning, had formed on Yuji's cheek.
"Even though your so concerned about those little whelps back there, guess your not in charge," Sukuna voiced in amusement. "Any hierarchy other than strength is worthless."
Quickly slapping at his cheek as if killing an insect, Itadori spoke up, "Sorry, Sensei. He pops out sometimes,"
"What an amusing body you have now," Gojo said, cupping his chin while he analyzed the boy.
"That's freaky he can just appear anywhere..." Danuja muttered under her breath when Sukuna's mouth formed on Itadori's hand this time. At least it didn't seem like he was causing Itadori any pain, or the pink haired male was good at hiding it if the ancient curse was.
"I owe you a favor, you know. Once I make this brats body my own, you'll be the first one I kill!" Sukuna threatened. His grin seemed to grow. "Or maybe I should brutalize your students right in front of you first?"
Gojo merely smiled. "It's an honor to be targeted by Sukuna. Though you should know...it isn't really wise to threaten my adorable students in front of me."
Placing his hand over Sukuna's mouth once more before he angered the man who was almost scarily calm, Itadori asked, "This guy's really that famous?"
"Unfortunately so. Ryomen Sukuna is described as a demon of legend with four arms and two faces," Fushiguro decided to speak up, crossing his arms over his chest. "It's hard to believe...but Sukuna was an actual human that existed over a thousand years ago..."
"During the golden age of jujutsu, jujutsu sorcerers had sharpened their skills against him, but were ultimately defeated. With the title Ryomen Sukuna, he would traverse the ages after his death as a cursed object. We sorcerers wouldn't be able to destroy his remains preserved in their own wax grave. Without a doubt, he is the king of curses." Gojo finished off.
Danuja sighed at this. "And ya just threatened that king of curses...Does that make you actually stronger than him?"
"Well...if Sukuna regained all of his power, it might be a little draining," Gojo admitted.
"Would you lose?" Itadori brought up, his right brow lifting up.
"Nah, I'd win."
Hanging back some where he could walk with Danuja and Fushiguro, Itadori placed his hand on the side of his mouth and whispered, "Is he always that confident?"
"I think his power has definitely gone to his head," Danuja replied back softly, giving a small tap to her own noggin. "I've never seen him fight too much myself...but I definitely don't wanna end up on Gojo sensei's bad side. 'Course, I probably couldn't take on most jujutsu sorcerers if it ever came to that..."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Itadori inquired with a small frown.
Now that he thought about it, he had never taken a really good look at the female. She was actually tall for her age, being only a few inches shorter than him. And even if her blue school dress-which reached her knees and had a black belt around her waist along with sleeves similar to what you'd see on a kimono-was a little loose on her, Danuja was curvy. She was cute. There were just dark shadows that seemed to hang over her eyes, making her look like she needed some immediate sleep. Or was it because she had seen something horrible that gave her that haunted look?
"Maybe it has to do with that scent coming from her. Isn't that right, woman?" Sukuna cackled out, having once more formed on Itadori's cheek.
"You, be quiet!" Itadori huffed out, not caring if he left a mark when he hit his cheek this time. "Don't go around smelling girls like that!"
I wonder how a mouth can smell to begin with Danuja pondered, slowly blinking. Maybe he would know...No. He's been sealed, so how could he? And Sukuna seems like the type who'd lie straight to ma face anyways...
"You're late, Satoru," an annoyed male voice greeted when the four stepped into the temple-like building. The door shutting behind them caused the candles in the room to sway in a rather menacing manner. "Eight minutes late. Not enough to chastise you but I know I told you to fix your habit of being late."
"Aww! He has even more cute stuffed animals than last time!" Danuja cooed out. Itadori swore flowers had appeared around the girl.
"There's nothing cute about those toys of his..." Fushiguro grumbled, warily eyeing the one he was stitching at the moment.
"If it's not enough to chastise me for, then don't chastise me," Gojo rebuked, causing the shades wearing male to scoff. "You're just making dolls, anyway. What's a measly eight minutes?" He looked down at Yuji with a smile. "That's principal Yaga Masamichi."
"That's the boy?"
Itadori swiftly leaned forward in a bow. "Itadori Yuji! I'm into girls like Jennifer Lawrance! Pleasure to meet you!"
"What did you come here for?" Masamichi sharply cut in.
"An interview...?"
"But why Jujutsu Tech?"
"To learn jujutsu?" Itadori slowly questioned instead of answered. He was not really sure where this was going.
"I mean beyond that. What do you hope to find once you've studied curses and learned how to exercise them?"
"Well, I mean...I'm going to collect the fingers of Sukuna. It's dangerous to just leave them as is," Yuji replied, wiggling his fingers for emphasis.
Masamichi's features became more stern. "Why? People you'll never know die every day due to crimes, accidents, and diseases in natural course of life. But you're telling me you can't overlook it when that death is caused by a curse?"
"It was my grandfather's dying wish. I don't care about the details," Itadori shot back, furrowing his brows. "I just want to save people."
Save people...? Does he even mean those who aren't worth saving Danuja found herself pondering, placing a hand on her cold cheek.
"A dying wish?" The muscular male stood up from where he sat. "So your saying you'll fight against curses because your grandfather told you to? You fail!" Extending out his hand, one of the dolls that looked like a kappa slowly rose up.
"Those weren't dolls?!" Itadori gasped out, completely shocked.
"Cursed corpses. They're dolls," Yaga responded coolly. "Dolls infused with my curse."
When the doll launched itself at him, Yuji tried to block the toy's punch with his backpack, only to be sent crashing painfully into one of the pillars in the room.
"Somehow, it seems more painful watching someone getting their ass kicked by one of those things than being on the receiving line of them," Fushiguro commented, not able to help but wince for the cursed corpse clearly had the upper hand.
"And we were kids when we first went up against them, too..." Danuja spoke up while her long nail lightly scratched at her cheek. Even though the toy had blown out the lights when it was bouncing around the room like some pinball machine ball, she could see it taunting Itadori by dancing and smacking its plush butt. "I still wonder where they get their personalities from?"
"We probably don't want to know..." Megumi muttered. Danuja found herself weakly nodding in agreement.
"A jujutsu sorcerer is constantly facing death," Masamichi stated while relighting the candles. "And not just their own death. Sometimes you must ignore those murdered by a curse to rend the flesh from it. It's an unpleasant job. You have to be a little crazy and highly motivated to handle it. You'd do that because someone else told you to? Don't make me laugh! It'd be more believable if you told me you were doing it from fear you'd be executed!"
"Screw you! I-"
"Are you going to blame your grandfather when you're killed by a curse, too?"
"You say some pretty damn harsh things, old man..."
"Education is making people realize things,"
"I'm not really-Bah!" Yuji wasn't able to finish his sentence. The kappa doll had landed a painful uppercut underneath his chin that sent Itadori spinning backwards.
"It's not easy to imagine how you'll feel on the verge of death. However, I can say one thing for certain. At the rate you're going, you could end up cursing your beloved grandfather, Jujutsu sorcerers never die without regret. I'll ask you once more. Why have you come here to Jujutsu Tech?"
Leaning his body to his left to dodge the next punch coming at him, Itadori managed to tackle the stuffed doll; the two rolling for a bit before Itadori had his arms wrapped firmly around the struggling kappa.
"Consuming Sukuna is something only I can do," Glancing back at Danuja and Megumi, Itadori continued, "I heard my death sentence was pardoned because of them...So I don't want to run away from the responsibility! I don't want to become depressed knowing Sukuna could be out their devouring someone. Even if none of this really involves me...There's no way I can convince myself that it's not my fault. No thanks. I can't say what I'll be thinking when I die, but...I'm not gonna regret the way I live!"
Yaga couldn't help but smirk at the kid's passionate speech. "Satoru, show him to his dorm. And explain the security and rules to him."
"Huh?"
"You pass. Welcome to Jujutsu Tech."
Itadori's eyes brightened, only for them to bulge while a gag left his lips. He had loosened his hold on the plush and it had decided to get another hit in upon the teen.
"Oh, sorry. I forgot to release the curse."
"I'm starting to think he does that on purpose..." Fushiguro said under his breath. The principal had also 'forgotten' to release the curse when he had fought against one of his dolls, too.
Chuckling as she made her way over toward the teen, who's butt was comically stuck up in the air and green hood covered his face that was planted in the ground, Danuja knelt down beside him.
"Cathy is as vicious as ever, I see. Do ya want me to heal you?"
"N-nah! I'm good!" Itadori managed to get out, shakily lifting up his arm to give a thumbs up. "Wait, Cathy? That thing has a name?!"
Yaga huffed and crossed his arms over his chest. "Yes 'she' does. They all happen have names," he explained, something that made Gojo and Fushiguro both sweat drop.
Danuja smiled and rubbed at the top of the doll's head, making Cathy close her eyes in content. "Congratulations on passin', by the way. Looks like we're gonna be classmates from now on. I'm lookin' forward to workin' with ya, Itadori Yuji."
(A/N: I'm uncertain if Fushiguro and Kugisaki knew about Itadori's execution, so I figured it would be a secret to them for the moment. And since Fushiguro didn't have to be healed this time, I thought it'd be funny if Danuja and him were there to watch poor Itadori getting beaten up by a stuffed animal of all things. That's still one of my favorite scenes in the anime. xD)
