Thud. Fabian's rubber soled shoes hit the ground first, broom in hand.

"James, what broom closet did you get these brooms from?" Thud.

"The small one on the second floor." Thud.

"Good choice," said Gideon. Thud.

"I hate brooms," grumbled Remus. James grinned at Gideon.

"Um, where are we?" asked Lily, brushing dust off her robes. Fabian winked at her.

"Dear Lily, we have landed expertly in the back of the Leaky Cauldron." Lily frowned.

"So?"

"So this is how we get to Diagon Alley!"

"Evans, how did you get to Diagon Alley, if you didn't go from here?" asked James. Lily shrugged.

"Some guy apparated my mom and I there."

"Oh I got it!" said Fabian triumphantly.

"I don't," said Sirius.

"It's because she's a muggle-born,"explained Gideon. Sirius nodded, still looking slightly confused.

"Alright, let's go," said James abruptly.

"Um." Lily looked in front of them. There was a large, sturdy looking brick wall ahead of them. "How exactly are we supposed to go through that?" asked Lily. Gideon grinned widely.

"Ah, Evans, you've got so much to learn." Gideon pulled out his wand, and expertly started tapping the bricks. Lily stared at him in confusion.

"Sorry, Gideon, but have you lost your mind?" He only grinned at her in reply, as he continued to tap out the last few bits of the pattern. As he had expected, the bricks collapsed neatly into piles of two, revealing the great place behind it. Lily's eyes widened. She gasped, and slapped her hand over her mouth. Alice chuckled in amusement.

"Whoa," breathed Lily.

"Impressed, Evans?" asked Sirius. Lily nodded, feeling speechless. James strolled right passed all of them.

"Well?" he said cockily. His friends stared at him. "What are you waiting for?" Lily rolled her eyes, and began to speak, but Alice cut her off.

"Lily, for once, I actually think he's right. We really should not waste any more time." Lily sighed.

"Alright, let's go then."

"Dearie me, little child, are you lost? You are lost. I presume and assume that you are lost?" asked a lady. Lily stared in horror, as the very old witch patted James's head. She had brown crumbs on her face, which was wrinkled and pale. James swatted her hand away from his face.

"No, I'm alright," he assured her, glaring at Sirius, who was busy cracking up.

So far, Knockturn Alley was filled with creepy old witches and wizards, usually dressed in a gothic fashion.

"This place is disgusting," Alice whispered to Lily. She nodded in agreement. Lily never wanted to visit this place, ever again. Gideon shook his head.

"Come on, guys, we should really get going now. I am pretty sure that Borgin and Burkes is this way." The kids followed the twins, stopping every once in a while to gape at the odd sights that caught their eyes. After a while had passed, Alice gasped, startling all of them.

"What's up?" asked Sirius. Alice pointed a shaky finger to the shop that stood behind the kids. There was a large, filthy sign, that read-

"Borgin and Burkes," said Remus. "I'm guessing we are at the right place." Lily nodded, and grimaced at the sight of the mold growing along the edges of the shop.

"Gross," she muttered, giving a disgusted look to the shop. James started to walk towards the door, but Remus held him back. James looked at him, with an irritated look on his face.

"What now, Remus?" Remus rolled his eyes.

"Why would you just go through the door?" James looked at his friend like he was crazy.

"Well...how else are you supposed to get inside?" Remus sighed in obvious exasperation.

"Do you really think that is a good idea, James?"

"Yeah, of course. Why not?"

"So you're just going to waltz in there-"

"I was thinking more along the lines of a manly stroll."

"-and go up to the front desk, to say, 'Hi, sorry to bother you, but I am pretty sure one of your friends kidnapped one of our friends, and is holding her hostage, so could we please see her?' Seriously, James, is that what you are going to do?" James shrugged.

"Yeah, I guess. That sounds fine."

Remus, Lily, and Alice, all thumped him soundly.

"Idiot!"

"Hello, little girls," cackled a voice. Jazz groaned, and rolled her eyes at Cherry. This was the third time that one of these morons had come to scare them. It wasn't working.

"What do you want?" said Cherry in a bored tone, picking at her nails. Jazz grimaced, as the light caught on the man's face. He was filthy, as if he'd never taken a shower, and he reeked of sewage and dirt.

"You stink," Cherry said bluntly. The man scowled at her.

"Alright, you brats, enough of your stupid games. I order you to tell me!" The girls exchanged confused looks.

"Tell you what?" voiced Jazz. He sniggered.

"Oh please. I know you know. We could do this all day." Cherry grinned.

"Okay, but we actually don;t know what you are talking about, so this game will be easy for us." The man's fierce scowl was visible in the dim, yellow, light.

"Enough playing. Tell me or I will murder you!"

"We don't know!" shouted Cherry and Jazz in unison. He peered at them skeptically.

"Will you take veritaserum to prove it?"

"What's vetascrum?"

"Ver-it-as-erum. It's a truth potion, you idiots."

"Fine, but only I will take it," countered Jazz.

"Deal," said the man. He walked off at a brisk pace. Cherry and Jazz sat in silence, wondering if anyone was searching for them. When the man returned, he held up a clear bottle, filled to the top, with a transparent, fizzy, liquid that looked rather like Sprite.

"Now just a few sips should do it," he said nastily. He handed it to Jazz, who sniffed it and grimaced. "Anytime now," said the man. Jazz threw him a dark look. She pinched her nose, and choked down a sip. Gasping and spluttering, she let the bottle crash to the floor. "That was a waste of two months," grumbled the man. Jazz ignored him.

"This is worse than Pom-poms," said Jazz raspily. Cherry looked at her friend worriedly.

"Have you poisoned her? Answer me!" demanded Cherry. The man rolled his eyes, and sighed deeply.

"No you brat, those are just side effects. Look." He pointed at Jazz. her eyes had become glassy, and she was swaying slightly. The man cleared his throat.

"What is your name?" he asked.

"Jasmine Tina Stone," she replied, in a dreamlike fashion.

"What is your friend's name?" he said, gesturing to Cherry.

"Cherise Shona Smith," she said in the same robotic tone. Cherry gulped. The man rubbed his hands together excitedly.

"Oh, how exciting," he mumbled. "The Dark Lord shall forever praise me, if I succeed!"

"Oh,, just get it over with," huffed Cherry. He glared at her.

"Where is the Dark Lord?" he said quietly. Silence filled the room, before Jazz answered.

"I don't know." The man growled.

"Tell me! Is he trapped in the school? Has Dumbledore got him?"

"I don't know," repeated Jazz. The man sneered.

"Fine," he said at last. "You are of no use to us." Cherry breathed a sigh of relief at his words. "I'll tell father to kill you later," he thought out loud, not really paying attention to the girls beside him. Cherry gulped, and wrung her hands, both nervously, and quietly. The man started to walk away, before Cherry called out to him.

"Wait!" He turned around and glared at her.

"What do you want, kid? I already said I have no use for you!" he spat at her.

"I-I-I know," stuttered Cherry.

"Then what, brat?" he said rudely. Cherry looked around the room, and her eyes landed on Jazz, who was still in the same dreamlike state.

"My friend. Couldn't you please turn her back to normal, so I can talk to her, before we die? Please?" she asked. The man stared at her for a few seconds. Then he rolled his eyes and muttered something under his breath, before walking away.

"What happened?" asked Jazz from behind, startling Cherry. Cherry sighed.

"Well, we didn't give him enough information, so he plans to kill us by sundown," she told her. Shock was clearly visible on Jazz's face. The two stared at each other in silence. Rumble. Jazz slowly turned her head, as the locked door clicked open.

"Who's there?" asked Cherry, slowly pulling her wand out. Jazz mirrored her actions, sliding her wand out from her pocket. The girls stood there, side by side, wands ready to face what ever came out of that doorway. The door opened halfway. Cherry tensed. When they could see who was there, confusion entered their expressions. Out came a redhaired, cheery faced boy.

"Hello there," he said. "Fabian Prewett. Pleasure to meet you."
