LET IT GO
Disclaimer: I don't Harry Potter, but I would REALLY LOVE to own REMUS LUPIN :D
"So let me get this straight," said Katie. "You're supposed to be wizards and witches, and we are supposed to believe that we're in some kind of magical school to be safe, because some psycho wants to kill us and our families?"
"That is the case," said Dumbledore.
"Are you insane?" asked Maya incredulously.
"A bit, yes," he replied, eyes twinkling in amusement. Juee sighed, and leaned back in her chair.
"How long do we have to stay in here?" she asked.
"Not long, really," he answered. "Less than a week."
"I'm sure we can do that!" said Maddie optimistically. Juee groaned.
"What about school? What excuse are we supposed to make for missing a week or more of school?"
"Besides, we've got two really important tests this coming week," added Saniya. Michelle shrugged.
"I'm totally fine with missing the gym one," she said.
"Obviously."
"So, Professor dude, or whatever the heck your name is-"
"I think it was Bubbledoors," said Katie. The professor laughed loudly.
"I suppose I do owe you an explanation."
"Yes. You do. Get one with it, Bubbles." Dumbledore smiled, and sighed.
"Your parents are Squibs-"
"What now?" Dumbledore stared at the girls intensely.
"Did you ever wonder why the six of you became friends?" The girls looked at him, taken aback.
"Um, no," said Saniya.
"We're best friends. That's just the way it works, Bubbles," added Juee.
"Of course," replied Dumbledore. "But there have been times..."
"What times?" said Maya, throwing her hands up in frustration. He smiled at them sadly.
"I'm afraid I can not say at this moment. What I can say, is that your parents are Squibs, non-magical born to magical. In other words, a target."
"A target for what?"
"Everything from murder to eternal pain," he replied. Katie sighed.
"So, simply assuming that we stay here, how do you know for sure that this guy's going to stop hunting our families?" she asked.
"All will be revealed in good time."
"Fine, Bubbles. But where will we stay?" Professor Dumbledore looked at them.
"You say that you are friends with Ms. Lily Evans?" They nodded. "Then you shall reside in the Gryffindor first years dorm. I'll have a prefect show you." The girls nodded again.
"Can we go now?" huffed Michelle. Dumbledore nodded, and with a flick of his wand, the gargoyles slowly slid open. All six girls stood up, nodded to the headmaster, and walked briskly out the door, before turning the corner, and stopping. Maddie was the first one to speak.
"Do you guys really think that-"
"Hi!" She was interrupted by a high-pitched voice. They slowly turned around to face a blonde, giggling girl.
"Hey, my name is Kelsey!" Giggle. "I am the Hufflepuff prefect, but I can still show you to the Gryffindor common rooms! That's where you guys have to go, right?" she said, squealing every few words.
"No, actually-" started Saniya.
"Sure!" interrupted Katie brightly. Kelsey giggled.
"Alright, come on, let's go! We are going to have the best and most funnest time ever!"
"Funnest isn't a word," whispered Michelle.
Saniya rubbed her forehead.
"-and like, I totally wanted to get the pink sparkly nail polish, but they didn't have it for under six Galleons, so I could not get it! Is that not outrageous? So I had to get the orange sparkly one instead, which was like, an entire Knut less! And that is my moms favorite color, well, I think it is, because she likes orange juice, so I'm just guessing here. And then I went to this Muggle store, called Aeropastel, and it was so weird there! They, like, had no smartness, because they wouldn't except my Sickles! I don't even know why! They were, like, so stupid. Idiots! But they were nice! Nice idiots! Like puppies! Puppies are cute! So are dolphins. You know, one time, I had a dream that I was swimming with this dolphin named Lalose, and then, we fell in love, and got married! It was such a good dream! But then my sister woke me up!"
"Is she ever going to shut up?" Juee grumbled. Maddie shook her head.
"Okey-dokey! We are here!"
"Thank God," said Maya under her breath.
"Passwords gargoyle! I think. That's what I heard. Well, totally catch you later!"
"Bye!" said Michelle sweetly.
"We'll miss- ugh!" said Maya, as Kelsey turned the corner.
"She left us at a painting that moves," observed Katie.
"Um... gargoyle?" said Juee timidly. Nothing happened.
"Gargoyle," said a voice confidently from behind them. There stood a grinning a James Potter.
"Hey, you're one of Lily's friends!" said Michelle excitedly.
"Alas, Ms. Evans is not one of my friends, we are simply acquaintances. Though, one of my best mates is friendly with the Lily you speak of." Saniya frowned.
"Dude, why are you talking so weirdly?"
"I think it's because he wants you to think he's crazy," said Remus, him, Jazz, and Sirius coming up to the group.
"And by the look on your face," said Jazz, "he succeeded." Katie nodded.
"Hey guys, where is Pete?" asked James. Sirius rolled his eyes.
"Off asking Lily stupid questions about some muggle things." Remus laughed and shook his head.
"So, are you guys staying?" he asked.
"Yeah," answered Michelle.
"How long?" asked Jazz curiously. Juee sighed.
"About a week."
"Where are you guys staying?"
"Umm..." said Maddie.
"It's called the first dorm Gryffindor years," said Saniya confidently. Jazz chuckled.
"It's actually called the Gryffindor first years dorm."
"Whatever, same thing," she said. Jazz laughed again.
"Do you guys want me to show you there? That's my dorm."
"Sure, I guess," said Katie.
"Come on," said Jazz, walking through the portrait hole.
"Finally!" said an exasperated Fat Lady.
"What's a phone?" asked Peter. Lily sighed, and rubbed her forehead.
"For the last time, Pettigrew, I don't know," she lied. Peter hung his head.
"Sorry, Lily, I was just curious." Lily instantly felt bad.
"You know what, Peter, I'm getting you a dictionary for Christmas."
"What's that?"
"It's a book with a bunch of words and what they mean."
"Cool!"
"Lily!" yelled Jazz, as she came running up to them. "Hey, Pete."
"What?" said Lily, looking irritated.
"McGonagall is calling us. You too Pete." The three kids exchanged worried looks, and braced themselves for what was coming ahead.
"-and you skipped an entire day of class! Do you even know what this will do to your grades? Not to mention the forbidden act of first-years of Hogsmeade! I'm very disappointed in both of you, Mr. Prewetts." Fabian and Gideon looked at their shoes, but when the strict professor turned away, they grinned and winked at the first years.
"Ten points from Gryffindor," she said.
"Wow, we got off easy," whispered James. McGonagall stared at the kids.
"Each of you." Protests rang throughout the room.
"But Professor!"
"That is one hundred points!"
"Minnie! Professor, I thought you loved us!"
"Professor!" Dumbledore stepped in.
"Now, Minerva, do you not think that's a bit harsh?" McGonagall humphed. "I mean to say," he pressed on, "It's unfair to take the points from Misses. Smith and Stone, as they were not present when the idea was formed." Her nostrils flared. "And," he continued, "they were simply trying to rescue their friends." The kids nodded earnestly. McGonagall threw her hands up.
"Fine, if that is that!" she said haughtily. The children present in the room cheered loudly, receiving a dark look from their head of their house.
"Forty points to Gryffindor for the act of courage, bravery, and friendship," said Dumbledore, eyes twinkling madly.
They sighed in relief.
Thank God for Dumbledore.
"Lily, where did all these mattresses come from?" asked Cherry. Lily blinked.
"Oh," she said. "McGonagall must have put them there."
"Speaking of," said Alice, "Dumbledore wants to see us in his study."
"Us?" asked Cherry.
"All sixteen of us."
"Sixteen?" Alice sighed.
"Me, you, Lily, Jazz, Remus, Sirius, James, Peter, Fabian, Gideon, Juee, Saniya, Katie, and Michelle."
"You're missing two people," said Lily.
"Who?"
"Maddie and Maya."
"Oh yeah. SO let's go!"
"Lot of people," said Cherry observantly. Lily nodded, then frowned.
"We were just in there like a half an hour ago! Why couldn't he just talk to us then?" she asked Alice, who shrugged.
"I don't really know. He probably didn't want to talk in front of Professor McGonagall. He sounded pretty serious if you ask me." Lily sighed.
"Well, then we better get going now. Coming Cherry?"
"Do I have a choice?" she grumbled. Lily shrugged.
"Honestly? Not really," she said, grabbing her friend's hand. "Now, let's go."
When the girls reached the headmaster's study, everyone else was already seated, and Saniya was quietly feasting on a few lemon drops.
"So," said Maddie. "What do you want, Bubbles?" Sirius broke into a coughing fit at the word 'bubbles', and shot a look to James, who grinned in reply. Dumbledore laughed quietly.
"The question is, my dear girl, is what do you want to know?" Silence fell throughout the room.
"What do you mean, Professor?" voiced Remus.
"I mean to say, that you must have a few questions after the events that took place yesterday. Go ahead, and I will answer them as best as I can." The kids that were present in the room stared at him.
"Thank you, Professor Dumbledore," said Alice. The old man smiled.
"You deserve it."
"What's a squib again?" asked Michelle quietly.
"A squib is a non-magical child born to magical parents."
"Why does this guy want to kill us?"
"This man is a big believer in blood purity. He thinks that squibs and other non-magical beings will dirty the wizard population."
"That's stupid."
"It is indeed."
"I bet this wanker was a Slytherin."
"He was indeed a Slytherin, Mr. Black."
"Why did those Death-Drinkers or whatever, kidnap us?" asked Jazz. Once again, the room became quiet.
"He put some sort of truth spell on Jazz, and asked her if you had the Black Lord, or something," added Cherry. Dumbledore's eyes suddenly became serious.
"Did it seem like this Lord was missing?" Cherry and Jazz both nodded.
"If he's doing what I think he is..." whispered Dumbledore, white face paling visibly in the dim light.
"Um, Bubbles," said Juee, startling the professor. "You alright? You like like you have just seen a ghost!"
"I may have," he mumbled. Then he looked up, and all traces of emotion vanished fro his aged face.
"I suppose that will be all?" he said, with no sign of the previous worry on his face. The children exchanged looks. Their questions would have to be left unanswered, as the old professor clearly and obviously needed to be alone.
"Yes. Thank you for your time, Professor. We really appreciate it," said Lily, both kindly and politely. He smiled at her, and turned around in his chair, his back to the kids. Slowly, without speaking a word, the sixteen kids stood up, and walked out the door in two different groups: The six boys decided to head out for a 'walk', while the ten girls opted to go talk back in their dormitory. When they had all plopped down comfortably on their beds, and Katie, Juee, Saniya, Michelle, Maya, and Maddie on their mattresses, Jazz spoke first.
"I'm really not that tired."
"Me neither," said Katie. "Let's do something." Cherry shrugged.
"Truth or dare?" she suggested. Juee sighed, and rolled her eyes at Maya.
"Remember at camp?" she said. "They only ever asked one truth question. It was so stupid."
"Who do you like?" mimicked Maya, in a high-pitched, girly voice. They both burst out laughing, earning a few strange looks from their friends. Jazz blinked, a large grin beginning to spread over her face.
"Count me in," she said daringly.
"I hate Truth or Dare! It's the stupidest game ever!" cried Saniya. "Oh, please, no!"
"Why not?" asked Cherry.
"Because, then they're all mushy and gushy , and then it is really no fun to play." Alice thought about this.
"How about this?" she offered. "Truths can be all mushy and stupid or whatever, but dares have got to be crazy, wild, and fun. Absolutely no exceptions. Deal?" Everyone nodded.
"What's the punishment if you don't answer?" said Michelle, a grin building slowly on her face.
"Um, you have to give something away?" said Cherry. Saniya scoffed.
"That's the best you can think of? Lame!" she said.
"Well, I would like to see you think of a better one!" snapped Cherry, looking offended. Saniya was quiet for a moment. Then she sighed, and said,
"Fine, whatever." Jazz clapped her hands excitedly.
"Alright, who wants to go first?"
"I want to!" said Alice enthusiastically. "Lils, Truth or Dare?" Lily shrugged.
"Truth, I guess."
"Wrong answer," said Jazz, beaming at Alice. Lily's eyes were wide.
"Can-can I change my answer?" she stammered meekly. Alice shook her head.
"What's done is done," said Maddie quietly.
"So, Alley-cat, what do you think we should do to our darling Lily flower?" asked Jazz brightly, a hint of maliciousness sparkling in her eye. Lily groaned.
"Uh, I think maybe we should spare the fair maiden," said Maya jokingly. Jazz frowned at the suggestion.
"What do you think, Juee?" she asked. No reply was heard.
"J-u-e-e!" Juee was scribbling furiously on a notebook, eyes never leaving the white lined paper.
"What the heck is she doing?" asked Cherry quietly. Katie rolled her eyes.
"She's obsessed with writing. It's not even funny how bad her addiction is." Juee was still writing, as if she couldn't hear her best friend speaking. Lily grinned.
"Well, we are playing Truth or Dare, I think that would make a great story!"
"Yeah, but she's got this problem of writing in the most random places. One time, at Michelle's birthday party, we found her in the closet, just writing away." Lily laughed, and an idea formed in her head.
"Wingardium Leviosa," she whispered, pointing her wand at Juee's notebook. As it floated high in to the air, and settled on a high shelf, Juee looked at it in disbelief.
"Hey!" she said. "That's mine!"
"Not anymore," said Cherry, grinning at her cheekily. Juee pouted, and glared at Lily, who shrugged.
"Oh relax," said Maddie. "I promise, we will find you a nice little closet to write in later, okay?" Juee gave her a dark look.
"Hilarious, Mads," said Juee dryly.
"I know, right? That's just me!"
"Sarcasm, darling."
"Whatever."
"Is this normal?" asked Alice. Saniya and Maya shared a look, and nodded.
"Everyday."
The girls burst out laughing, as Cherry finished doing the nutcracker ballet in a clown suit.
"Laugh all you want, girls," she said haughtily. "I think, wait I know that I just did that brilliantly. Thanks Maya."
