Just Be Friends

Chapter 5: Bringing Back Cruelty

"We love you. Do you love us back too?"

You don't know what to believe anymore; you don't even know how to feel about this. The eye contact between you and the twins lasted long as if time froze, leaving you look as red as a strawberry. That moment lasted longer than expected until the twins gave a face where they were trying to hold their laughter. You look at them, confused as what has happened to the twins.

"(Your first name)-chan, your reactions were priceless!" says Hikaru while trying to control his laughter.

"Now this is what we were telling you about new experiences. You're too cute for this, (Your first name)-chan," says Kaoru as he laughed.

As much as you hate to admit it, you were quite dumb to actually fall for their trick. No wonder they were considered the "Little Devil" type for a reason. You then covered your face with your hands to hide your red-ridden face. 'These two are just driving me crazy! Did they really change from how I used to know them before? Because right now I'm confused on how should I feel towards their new personality.'

As you kept your position that way, you felt two hands removing your hands from hiding your face. It was the twins, though this time their looks were serious.

"But if we were to ask you again, (Your first name)-chan…" Kaoru started, as he pulled you closer to him.

"…do you love us back too?" Hikaru finishes, as he pulled you closer to him as well.

As you heard that line, you probably felt like exploding, even your heart was beating rapidly from this weird sensation. You could hear the other students in the room screaming as they witness the actions The Hitachiin Twins are doing to you. You couldn't calm yourself, as if the twins had this all planned out for you.

You couldn't speak moderately but you mustered a few words in a whispering voice, "Hikaru… Kaoru… If I were to answer your question, will you two stop teasing me?"

The twins didn't respond for a moment but soon you heard soft chuckles from the auburn-haired boys, "If it means hearing you answer, then it's a deal (Your first name)-chan," they both said at the same time.

You breathe in a bit and exhaled the air. With a little confidence left in you, you muttered "I love you two, very much." 'As my best, best friends.' As you said those words, the twins embraced you to a really big hug. It surprised you because you weren't expecting that kind of reaction from them. Though as that hug lasted, the twins wore off a smirk; a smirk that would mean that everything is going to their plan.

The twins let go of you as they both looked at you with a bright smile; this made your heart skip a beat. You weren't used to the twins smiling at you for how they treated you badly back in the past, but you decided to shrug that thought off.

"(Your first name)-chan, we're glad to know that you love us back," Kaoru said as he gives you a heart-warming smile.

"You have no idea how much this means to us. It really did make us happy," Hikaru said as he matched his smile like his younger twin.

"Y-you're welcome I guess…" You said as you looked at the ground, fidgeting your fingers.

"As a thank you for making both of us smile," Hikaru started as he looked at Kaoru with an approving look. Kaoru nodded then looked back at you.

"(Your first name)-chan, please go to the dance party next week. We will really give you a magical night and treat you as our loving princess," Kaoru finished. You weren't so sure of how to feel. First, they teased you that they both loved you. Second, they managed to have you admit that you love them back, even though in truth you love them as your best friends. And lastly, they asked you out to the dance party next week.

As you let out a sigh, you looked at both of them with flustered cheeks. Though you couldn't even speak at that point, you gave them a small nod and a bashful smile. The auburn-haired twins smiled in delight as they gave each other a look of approval.

"Then we'll see you there, (Your first name)-chan!" The twins said delightfully as they went to tell the other hosts how they managed to convince you.

As for you, you decided to get some rest and decided to head home. Acknowledging the hosts of the club, you bid them farewell and left to head to the school gates. From that point on, you saw your brothers as they waited for you and for your ride to come pick you all up.

As usual, you and your brothers have exchanged different sets of things to talk about. Your brothers telling you about how they're enjoying so far and how they're so happy they have met a whole bunch of people to play with. As for you, you did the same though you will never let them know what has happened to you and the twins for you can just see your brothers tease you about it until it reaches your parents.

The ride home wasn't quiet as stories from your brothers and stories from your self have been sputtered out alternatively. The more you told each other stories, everyone didn't realize that the limo halted in-front of your home's gates. The three of you left the limo and bid Gregory a thank you and went straight to your house.

Tired of today's events, you decided to get some rest and sleep early for today. Dressing up and prepping up to go to bed, your mind can't stop thinking about what transpired today at the same time bothered by what you should wear for the Host Club's dance party next week.

'This sure is an eventful day. I wonder if this will go on the next couple of days I stay at Ouran. Sigh… I guess I'll just look forward for it. And I really do have to look for a dress to wear at the dance party.'

As your train of thoughts finally disappeared, you laid yourself to your bed and wrapped yourself with your soft blanket. You closed the lamp at your side table as you slowly closed your eyes for a good night's sleep.

~One week later, Central Building~

At the night of Ouran Host Cub's dance party, you decided to just wear a simple pink dress. The dress wasn't a shade darker or a tint lighter but the ordinary pink color. The top part of your dress was ruffled, the ends of the sleeves and as a design at your chest area; the skirt reaches at midway your thighs, few inches before it reaches your knees. You matched your dress with a pink ribbon with a white lace surrounding it and a pair of earrings and a necklace with a fuchsia-colored bead as its centerpiece.

Your (Your hair length) (Your hair color) hair was put into curls as today was a formal event. You didn't really prep yourself to have a "dress to impress" moment but you just wanted to be different today. Not like anyone would even notice or even compliment how you look.

Majority of the female students of Ouran attended the party as they gathered the large hall of the Central Building. As everyone chattered with one another, you were really quiet as you didn't know anyone among the female students. The hall was being conquered by noise until the lights were shut off, leaving the afternoon hues of purple and red skies shine in the room.

The hall got quiet until the familiar voice of the Host Club's president can be heard.

"My little lambs, who have gathered here tonight," he shortly paused, "Ouran Host Club bids you a fond welcome…" a spotlight opens as it directly shines upon Tamaki, "…to this dance party." he bows courtly. As he finishes his introduction, the lights of the chandeliers opened one by one along with the start of the pleasing orchestra music playing at the background.

Everyone started applauding and giggling in excitement while the Host Club members bow down to formally welcome everyone for tonight's dance party.

"We invite you to enjoy yourselves to your heart's content, as you dance with the Host Club members," Kyoya announces.

'How would everyone in this hall get to dance with a Host Club member when there's so many of us in here?' you questioned as you were seemingly bothered by the fact that there are many females in this room, you included, to be able to dance with 7 males.

"In addition," Kyoya continues, "the guest who is recognized as the best dancer, and is chosen as tonight's queen will receive an impassioned kiss on the cheek from the king."

You directed your attention to Tamaki, who was a floor above the Host Club members. As Kyoya finishes his announcement, Tamaki opens his eyes with a cool expression.

"Good luck to you, baby," Tamaki says extending his left hand towards everyone along with a wink. Squeals of delight immerses in the hall as some girls look at Tamaki in awe and some fainting from the excitement. You could have sworn you've seen floating hearts flying around the room.

After that elegant introduction, the Host Club members started dancing with some ladies one by one. As weird as it is, you were part of those people who are watching from the sidelines but you honestly thought that you wouldn't get the chance to dance with one of them since there were many of you in the hall.

Watching as the Host Club members dance with a different girl, you came to realize that Haruhi wasn't there. It made you curious as you knew he would be there but it did bother you that you haven't seen him after the introductions from earlier.

Thinking way too much, you didn't feel the hand that dragged you all the way to the dance floor; surprised as you snapped out from your thoughts, you looked up as you see Tamaki smiling sweetly towards you.

"You look beautiful, (Your first name). I wasn't expecting you'd transform into an angel."

"Wh-what? I-I mean… I never intended to look extravagant for tonight's dance party… I'm ordinary as always," you replied, looking away.

"Ordinary? (Your first name), I'm being truthful to you. Don't look away and look at me," Tamaki says softly leading you to look back at him, "Even if you think you're pretty ordinary, you still look beautiful in my eyes."

Your cheeks turned a bright shade of pink. Even if this was the Host Club, the members never failed to make you feel different emotions, let alone the King of the Host Club. Tamaki may have the attractive and flirty look but his personality towards a girl can be so gentle and loving.

"Th-thank you… I wasn't really expecting anyone to compliment me. You do look handsome as well, T-Tamaki-senpai!"

Tamaki chuckled and smiled sweetly. "You're a really kind girl, (Your first name). I'm sure any man would be lucky if they have you as their partner." Tamaki's words never failed to make your heart flutter as you didn't know how to deal with this kind of situation. You'd usually know how this would go as you've seen these from shoujo animes but you are left embarrassed as handling this in real life was definitely difficult.

Your dance with Tamaki took long but had to end as the next girl will have to dance with him. With a shy smile and a bow, you thanked him for the time you spent with him.

"Anytime, (Your first name). I hope you enjoy the night," he smiles and pats your head, "Do your best as you can get a kiss from me at the end of the party." He then winked at you. Your cheeks never failed to turn to different tints of pink or shades of red but you simply nodded and bid him a farewell.

The next few moments you managed to dance with Mori and Honey. It was quite a different experience as Mori wasn't the talkative person but he did say you looked lovely for tonight's party. Honey on the other hand, was definitely the loud one. Sputtering about a lot of things and even continuously telling you how pretty you looked, you had a fun time with Honey as if you were dancing with one of your brothers.

As your dance with Honey ended, you exchanged a warm hug with him. He goes running to the next girl but didn't forget to tell you to enjoy the night. You were about to head back to the crowd of girls watching those who are dancing with the Host Club members, but you felt a light tap on your shoulder.

"I see that you came tonight, (Your first name)-san." It was Kyoya.

"Ah, Kyoya-senpai. It's good to see you." You smiled softly, "What makes you stop me?"

Kyoya looked at you and chuckled, "As much as you're pretty clueless, I'm inviting you for a little dance."

"A-ah, of course… I-I don't mind…" With a small nod, Kyoya leads you back to the dance floor. All of a sudden, your troubled feelings toward Kyoya came back. He was a cool person but having to experience such a gentleman side of his makes your heart skip a beat.

"Enjoying the night so far, (Your first name)-san?"

"I am. It's a really new experience for me. I was questioning how all seven of you would manage to dance with every girl who attended the party but seeing that you're all doing this to make everyone smile made me think otherwise."

"That's quite logical of you. Were you thinking that you wouldn't get the chance to dance with one of us?"

"Honestly, yes. I actually wanted to socialize and pretty much munch on the food prepared but as stupid as I can be, I ended up spacing out."

Kyoya chuckled, leaving you to have pink cheeks. 'Kyoya-senpai never failed to make me feel this way… Am I really developing feelings towards him?'

"You're quite different, (Your first name)-san. I like that about you. I want you to enjoy the night to your heart's content. So, I do hope I'm giving you a good time," He finishes with a sincere smile.

"I-I am enjoying your company, K-kyoya-senpai… I-I wasn't really expecting that I'd be able to get the chance to dance with you…" You were shocked the moment you said the last sentence. It sounded as if you'd be disappointed if you didn't spend time with him. What a sudden confession it is. Feeling your cheeks burning, you nervously muttered some words: "I-I mean…"

"Don't worry. I honestly felt the same. Seeing that we always stumbled upon one another so you don't have to feel bad," Kyoya admits, with a small smile on his face.

'Dear God, I know this isn't the right time to call out to you but did I ever do something wrong to deserve this? My heart is rapidly beating, my cheeks are burning and I feel butterflies in my stomach. Please stop this dying feeling! It's as if Kyoya-senpai is my soul mate… Wait, no! Gah! Just make these unwanted feelings stop!'

Your dance with Kyoya lasted quite longer than you expect it to be, leaving you to have troubling thoughts while dancing with him. It really did make you question for your feelings towards him and his feelings towards you. Did you two by any chance started to develop mutual feelings for each other? Well, who knows; it may be possible. The music stops and your fairytale-like dance with Kyoya has to end.

"I enjoyed our dance, Kyoya-senpai. It was really nice to get to know more about you."

"The pleasure is all mine, (Your first name)-san. I do hope we can talk more. But do enjoy the party and dance with the remaining members you haven't danced with."

"Will do, Kyoya-senpai!"

"Before you go, I really thank you for dancing with me." He took your right hand, and kissed the back of your hand. You can't help but feel flustered from his actions. He gave you a sincere smile and left. You didn't know how to act towards Kyoya but it still confused you if you indeed have feelings towards him. Little did you know a pair of topaz eyes was watching you from a distance.

You decided to walk back to the crowded corners of the hall, as you wanted to take a break from dancing. You've come across to a nearby pillar but as you slowly approached it, you noticed the familiar cute-looking boy leaning at the said pillar: it was Haruhi!

"Haruhi-kun, where have you been? I've been looking everywhere for you," You said as you slowly run towards him.

"Ah, (Your first name)-san. I'm so sorry. Did I make you worry?"

"Yes, you did. What makes you stand here all alone? You should really dance with the ladies gathered here," you suggested though you felt Haruhi getting a little awkward.

"Well… I'm not really fond of dancing. Dancing isn't really my thing," Haruhi replies, scratching the back of his head with a nervous chuckle.

"That's okay. I'm not a good dancer as well so let's dance miserably, together," you flashed a bright smile leaving Haruhi to laugh at your said statement.

"Yes, of course," he replies with a simple smile. You and Haruhi then walked towards the dance floor and started to dance with very slow steps, careful not to step on Haruhi's feet. "You know, (Your first name)-san, you're the first person I've danced with tonight."

"Well, I'm honored Haruhi-kun. If I didn't invite you in the first place, maybe you would have spent the night greatly with the tall white pillar," you jokingly tell him. Haruhi was flustered but managed to stifle a laugh from your joke.

As the both of you were having a really slow dance and some chitter-chatter, the Hitachiin Twins were watching you from the distance.

"We still didn't have a dance with (Your first name)-chan," Hikaru whined.

"Be patient, Hikaru. I'm sure we'll have our turn," Kaoru replied.

"I'm so jealous! I'm curious of what (Your first name)-chan is talking about. She's surely enjoying her company with Haruhi," Hikaru finished with a pout.

"I have to agree with you, Hikaru. We did promise her we would treat her like a princess tonight," Kaoru says, as he looks at you intently.

"How about we get closer to them, Kaoru?"

"Sure, let's go." I don't know why I exactly agreed with Hikaru that I wanted to get closer but I'm feeling this weird feeling of pain when I see her with Haruhi. Could it be I'm jealous?

Hikaru and I decided to take a break from dancing as we danced with a bunch of girls already but despite taking a break; (Your first name) crossed the picture. We got closer and managed to be in a fair distance where we can hear (Your first name) and Haruhi's conversation. It may be pretty rude to eavesdrop but this is how we twins do our thing. Especially since (Your first name) is our new "toy".

"Are you enjoying the dance so far, Haruhi-kun? I'm sorry if I accidentally step on your foot from time to time," we heard (Your first name) speak.

"Of course I am, (Your first name)-san. And don't worry, it's fine," Haruhi replies with a assuring voice.

"But you know, I've been meaning to ask you something, Haruhi-kun…" (Your first name) says, as the tone of her voice and her facial expression changed to a serious one.

"I wonder what she's so curious about…" I asked Hikaru.

"Me too," Hikaru replies, who's also listening carefully.

"What is it, (Your first name)-san?" Haruhi looked at (Your first name) with a questioning look.

"Are you perhaps…" she paused, "…a girl?" Did she seriously just ask that?! No one was supposed to know but the Host Club.

"What do you mean, (Your first name)-san?" Haruhi was feeling nervous in the situation.

"Kaoru, we can't let this happen. Remember that no one should know about Haruhi's true identity aside from the Host Club? If everyone knew, then things may happen," Hikaru tells me. He was right; the Host Club made a promise that no one should know about Haruhi being a female as she was tasked to be part of the host club to pay for her debt and we couldn't let this get out of hand.

"We have to stop her. I don't want to cause a commotion," I replied as we observed the situation.

"I mean, it wouldn't leave my mind you know. Ever since the issue with Ayanokoji, I felt something by your chest area when I hugged you because I was so worried of you."

"Uhm… I'm pretty much sure it's nothing, (Your first name)-san," Haruhi said, as he laughed nervously; he even looked away at that point.

"Are you sure, Haruhi-kun? You seem to be avoiding my gaze and you're quite nervous," you became more suspicious towards his actions.

"I'm really sure, (Your first name)-san," Haruhi scratched the back of his head. You didn't want to be bothered by it anymore as your speculations made you curiouser and curiouser. But that didn't stop you from persistently asking him.

"I really don't want to be rude; I just want you to be honest with me, Haruhi-kun. So, I ask you one more time… Are you a girl?" You asked once more, you could probably feel how tensed Haruhi could be. Before he could even mutter an answer, the twins were now right in-front of you, blocking Haruhi from you.

"Hikaru? Kaoru? What are you two doing here?" you asked as you were shocked to suddenly see them out of nowhere.

"You know, (Your first name)-chan, it's better if you can stop asking the same question to Haruhi," Hikaru says.

"Can't you see that Haruhi was feeling uncomfortable with what you're doing," Kaoru says, now catching the attention of everyone in the room.

"Hikaru, Kaoru, it's okay. (Your first name)-san was just curious about something so-"

"But that doesn't mean she has to make you feel that way," Kaoru interrupts.

"There was nothing wrong with my question. I was just asking Haruhi politely," you replied with a tone of tiny bit confidence as you could already feel everyone staring at you while whispering to one another.

"Can you understand not to go beyond the boundary, (Your first name)-chan? I understand you want Haruhi to answer but please know your limits," Hikaru says, as his face formed a frown.

"But I-"

"It's none of your business, okay? If you're just going to persistently ask Haruhi that same question, how about you don't bother him anymore and leave?" The twins said in unison.

This was it. It came back. The same moment that happened 10 years ago when you first encountered the twins; it felt as if they were using a façade to hide who they really are. Everyone in the room started to whisper but you can evidently hear what they were trying to discuss with one another.

"Oh my, could it be she's harassing Haruhi?"

"Wasn't she the girl who just recently transferred?"

"She's the one who said that she never got to experience anything from the outside world. I wonder if she's saying that just so she can get closer to the Host Club."

"Well, she's so like Ayanokoji. She's just seeking for attention. How pathetic..."

With those comments, your chest started to hurt. You couldn't believe that from your curiosity it made you cause a scene at the Host Club's formal event. You did admit that it was your fault for being persistent but you weren't expecting the twins to defend Haruhi and just tell you off like that.

The other Host Club members were walking towards where the four of you were but before they could reach everyone, you immediately bowed and said, "I'm really sorry, Haruhi. I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable… I-I have to go now…" But even from your action, you could hear the many whispers coming out of all the female students of Ouran. You decided to run away and headed outside; tears started forming in your eyes as you do so. Someone did call out to you but you didn't stop.

The moment you got outside of the building, you ran all the way downstairs and hid yourself at the corner of the staircase. Never did you expect to be humiliated in-front of a lot of people especially since you were just a transferee to this school. You sobbed quietly as you remember all the hurtful words majority of the students mustered upon you.

'I guess that's it… I'll be the talk of the school at this point. Why must I be persistent and curious over such little things… It hurts so much hearing those comments from my schoolmates… I guess no one would even dare to be friends with me or even believe me if I talk about some things. I probably don't deserve being sent to a private school in the first place. Maybe I was just destined to be a locked-up princess, not leaving home forever… I guess I won't have any reason to come to school now….'

The moment Hikaru and I started telling (Your first name) off, only did I realize what we did when she left the hall, crying as she did so. Hikaru seemed to realize it as well as everyone's eyes was on her leaving figure. Haruhi did try to call out for (Your first name) to come back, but she never turned to look back and stop her tracks. The room was filled with murmurs and chitter chatter of the scene that just transpired and it seemed like it won't die down any time soon, especially since what they were talking about was about (Your first name). I felt a pang of regret as I was hearing all the different comments they were making about her. We didn't mean to hurt her in that way…

"Hikaru, Kaoru, why did you do that? Can't you see you just hurt (Your first name)'s feelings?" Tamaki says, as he was getting mad at us.

"Hikaru, Kaoru, I know that you were defending me but you two could have let me handle the situation alone. I know we couldn't let her know about my secret but you two didn't have to go that far," Haruhi tells both of us, I'm starting to feel bad of what we did.

"But, what do we do? Everyone in the room won't stop talking about it! We have to look for (Your first name)-chan; I'm pretty much sure (Your first name)-chan is somewhere in the campus," Honey says, as he became quite worried of the situation. Mori agrees in the sidelines.

Kyoya looked at the twins and adjusted his glasses, "For you two making such a scene, it's such a bald move for you to humiliate a girl in-front of everyone else. But as of now, I want you two to look for her. We'll handle the situation here. The moment you two come back, you two should make up with (Your first name), alright?" We both nodded and took our leave to look for her.

"I can't believe we did that to (Your first name)-chan…" I started, as I could feel my chest starting to hurt bit by bit.

"I wasn't expecting this would happen… I guess we went too far…" Hikaru replied, as he too had a regretful look.

"What matters is that we look for (Your first name)-chan immediately."

"Kaoru, do you think she'd still forgive us? After what we just did to her… I feel like she'd ignore us and won't even want to hang out with us starting from now on…" Hikaru says, as I could feel how concerned his voice was about our destined relationship with (Your first name).

"I don't know, Hikaru… I'm just hoping she'd give us a chance."

We searched everywhere and it felt as if every place we looked, I feel a weight of regret dragging me down. I was worried sick of (Your first name). Seeing that it was hard to find her, there was a bigger chance that we won't even get to sort things out with her. We went back in-front of the Central Building.

"What do we do? We can't find her…" I told Hikaru, I was desperate to see her right away.

"Do you think she already left school and went straight home?" Hikaru questions, as I could feel that he didn't want it to end this way.

'(Your first name), wherever you are, please show yourself… I can't forgive myself if I never get the chance to make things up with you. Seeing your crying face hurt me so much, I didn't know I had the capability to hurt you in any way. I'm begging you, let me just see you.' I was in the verge of spilling some tears but Hikaru brought me back to my senses.

"Hey Kaoru, did you hear that?"

"Hikaru, this isn't the time to be fooling around," I said as I looked at him with a frown.

"I'm being serious, Kaoru! I'm hearing sobs somewhere," Hikaru says as he was sure he did hear someone sobbing. I carefully listened and I did hear faint sobbing near the Central Building. We both walked near the staircases as the faint sobbing noises got louder every step we take. The moment we neared the next staircase, we could easily hear the continuous sobbing noise from earlier. We decided to take a peek and there we saw (Your first name) curved into a ball at the very corner of the staircase.

"(Your first name)-chan!" We said at the same time as we rushed towards her. She was just sitting there at the dirty floor, despite wearing such a cute dress, she didn't care anymore. We both crouched down though we didn't have the courage to place a hand to comfort her.

"(Your first name)-chan, we're-"

"P-please leave me alone…"

"We didn't mean to-"

"I-I told you to leave me alone…" My heart felt so much pain from her words. I don't even know if it hurts because she's pushing us away or the fact that she didn't want to talk to us but I guess this is what we deserve after we treated her that way.

"A-all I wanted was to enjoy the night… I already did and was looking forward to dance with you two after dancing with everyone else. I saved the two of you as my last dance since you two did tell me that you would make me remember the night… You two did let me remember the night… Remember how horrible it just went…" She said as she couldn't stop the tears escaping her eyes. I really regretted treating her badly; she even looked forward to dance with the two of us this evening.

Hikaru looked at me as he didn't know what to do. Just looking at his face, he knew that it was quite impossible to cheer her up in this situation but even from his troubled expression, he was afraid that (Your first name) would never forgive us. We gave her time to vent out all her feelings as we patiently waited for her to calm down. We didn't know when we can comfort her at the right time as she didn't want us to come closer.

But after minutes of looking at her with an apologetic look, (Your first name) started murmuring the same phrase all over again:

"They didn't change… It's all coming back to me… It definitely hurts…"

Was she referring to us? What did she mean? We never met before but she kept referring that "We didn't change" all over again. As I continued to think about it, I was able to recollect my thoughts as I remembered her last name.

(Your last name).

When she repeats the same phrase, it gave me a clue that she probably had the same traumatic experience back in her past. I remembered that Hikaru and I met someone with the same last name but she had a different name and it wasn't (Your first name). We never did get to meet that same girl since we were so cold to her years after our first encounter; I guess she left after all the things we've done to make her life so miserable.

But I decided to think about it later on as Hikaru and I have to deal with (Your first name)'s situation. Without anymore hesitation, I looked at Hikaru and he simply nodded; we went closer to her and gave her a warm embrace. (Your first name) kept on struggling as she told us to let go and leave her alone but we still remained no matter how much she was pushing us away.

"(Your first name)-chan, can you please calm down and listen to us?" Hikaru began, as he said it with a soft tone.

"J-just leave me alone please…"

"I know what we did was very unforgivable but hear us out…" I continued, patting her back to calm her down. Surprisingly, she stopped squirming. With a sigh, we mustered up our apology.

"We're sorry that we did that to you…" Hikaru whispered as he went closer to her ear.

"We were surprised that we did it… We didn't mean to hurt you…" I told her as I continued patting her hair.

"It may be difficult for you to forgive us easily…" Hikaru starts once more.

"…but we're truly sorry for everything," I finished.

"Even if you don't forgive us, it's okay. We can take the consequences…" Hikaru and I lost hope now that she'll never forgive us. I don't know what to feel that I'm going to be further away from (Your first name) as she gave me numerous feelings just from our encounters and interactions. It did hurt that I'm going to lose a person I started to deeply care for as a new friend to help her in adjusting to the outside world. It was quiet but you can evidently hear her sniffles, so both of us decided to look down as we waited for a reply.

To our surprise, we felt a hand on top of our heads. We both look up to see (Your first name) looking at us, her cheeks having stained of fallen tears and her eyes that collects the crystal drops, preventing them from falling down. But what made both of us so shocked is that she was smiling.

"You don't have to apologize, you two. I'm so sorry for the sudden turn of events but this was my fault. If it wasn't for me, I wouldn't cause such a problem for tonight's dance party. I know it was wrong for me to do so but I want to apologize to you two and everyone else in the Host Club for starting a commotion." Despite having to feel hurt from what we told her earlier, she took the blame and continued smiling. She does have a kind heart; a kind heart that's not meant to be broken.

"But… Does that mean you're not mad at us?" Hikaru questions as there was a ray of hope in his eyes. I was also hoping to hear a positive answer, but I can't help but feel nervous about it.

"Of course not, you two are my best friends," (Your first name) replies, smiling brightly even if her face was a mess. She didn't care at all. But I'm glad; she's okay and that we'd be able to hang out with her more even if we did something traumatic to her stay here at Ouran.

Hikaru and I smiled with one another as we both decided to stand up. (Your first name) was about to stand up as well but we extended a hand to help her. Even if she was living a wealthy life, she has a kind heart and she doesn't care of what may happen to her appearance as she isn't bratty like the spoiled girls of wealthy families.

As (Your first name) stood up, we decided to bring her back inside the hall. But to her protest, she wanted to stay out longer as she stared at the cherry blossom trees dancing with the gust of wind. There were petals falling rather slowly and it made me divert my eyes towards (Your first name); she looked at them in awe as the pink petals fall from the glowing cherry blossom trees.

'I'm happy that I was able to cheer you up. And I promise you that if I ever hurt you again, I will never forgive myself. I want to protect your smile and I want you to be always happy. You're so vulnerable, too pure for this world. I want the best for you, (Your first name). Because now I know that…'

'I like you.'

As I finished, spotlights then shined above the three of us. We were in a state of shock as we were confused of what was happening but as we looked at each other with a questioning look, a voice starts to speak.

"And now ladies and gentlemen," we hear the window doors opening along with the voices of females chattering, "this enjoyable evening of ours has at last come to its final song. The Host Club's last waltz falls upon this fine lady and our beloved twins." We all looked at the center and see the rest of the Host Club members, smiling towards us.

With both of us taking a deep breath, we looked at one another and simply nodded; we then diverted our eyes towards (Your first name)'s. She was still in utter shock as she didn't know what was going on. With utter confidence, we bowed down and extended a hand towards her.

"Our dear princess," we both bowed down, "may we have this dance?" (Your first name) widened her eyes but gave us a warm smile as an approval; Hikaru and I gave her a sincere smile back in return, seeing that things between us were finally okay. We couldn't dance altogether as we were an odd number but to my surprise, Hikaru told me to go first.

(Your first name) placed her left hand on top of mine and muttered a "thank you". With that, the orchestra music began to play and we both dance the waltz. It was quite unbelievable that I managed to have such a perfect dance with her despite the event that happened earlier, but I didn't want to ruin the moment. It was my time to enjoy with (Your first name).

As we took slow steps following the sweet tune the orchestra was playing, (Your first name) can sometimes have mistakes but it didn't stop her from continuously apologizing and laughing from her small yet cute accidents. Her smile made my heart skip a beat and despite how close we were, I really do hope it stays that way and that she doesn't hear the loud thumps my heart was making.

I wanted the moment to last but it has to come to an end as Hikaru still had to dance with her. As we stopped, we both exchanged a smile. Though before I even handed her to Hikaru, I took her right hand and planted a small kiss.

"I hope we spend more time with one another, (Your first name)-chan," I looked up to her and I see her cheeks turn a shade of pink.

" I hope so too, Kaoru," and gave me a small yet warm smile before she went to Hikaru.

I watched as Hikaru and (Your first name) go to the center as they danced along the music. From the commotion that happened earlier, I felt surprised on how the others managed to calm down all the ladies who attended at tonight's party. Surprisingly, all I hear from them is that (Your first name) was such a lucky girl to have the last dance.

As the music stops, Hikaru and (Your first name) stops dancing. From the distance, I see them talking to one another as Hikaru gave her a bright smile which made her laugh in response. Though I know it may be possible that Hikaru can develop feelings towards (Your first name) but that doesn't mean I have to easily give up.

'I will definitely enjoy every single time I spend with you and I will make sure that you know of my feelings soon.'

"Tonight's dance queen… is hereby declared to be Princess (Your last name) (Your first name)," Honey announces with much cheerfulness. As the announcement was done, the female students who have gathered and witness the last waltz applauded. Who knew that everyone suddenly had a change of heart?

Honey then continues, "Now then, blessed kiss from the king has been switched to Fujioka Haruhi!" You looked at Hikaru as your eyes gave off that you've gotten nervous. Seeing that you didn't know what to do if you've come closer to Haruhi despite apologizing to him earlier before you left, you started shaking. Hikaru then smiled at you, placing a hand on your shoulder.

"It will be fine, (Your first name)-chan. It's just on the cheek, remember? Go ahead and accept it, consider it as a sign that Haruhi has forgiven you."

You looked at him and gave a look of confidence. You started walking towards the staircase as Haruhi was going down to meet with you. When you stopped in-front with one another, you looked at Haruhi with an apologetic look and bowed down.

"I really am sorry, Haruhi. I shouldn't have pushed myself to get some answers from you. My curiosity can seriously get out of hand…" you said as you laughed nervously.

"It's okay, (Your first name)-san. I understand," Haruhi says as he placed both of his hands on my cheeks. You positioned your head to the right as for Haruhi to kiss your left cheek. You close your eyes and as slowly Haruhi gets closer, you hear Tamaki's voice.

"Hold that kiss!"

Not knowing what was happening as your eyes were shut, you managed to open your eyes widely as you felt something soft landing on your lips. To your surprise, Haruhi kissed you. HARUHI KISSED YOU ON YOUR LIPS.

He was also in a state of shock as apparently, Tamaki slip from the stairs before he could properly stop you two from the kiss, he instead gave a push which lead to your accidental kiss.

Tamaki and The Hitachiin Twins, mostly Kaoru, were shocked of the sudden scenario that flashed in-front of them. The remaining Host Club members just watched with a smile and all the gathered guests for the night squealed in delight and some were crying as they witness a lucky girl get kissed by a cute-looking boy of a host. You and Haruhi then took a step back while covering your now kissed lips.

You couldn't believe as how tonight's events went downhill to something surprising, something entirely new which you never thought would actually happen. But as shocked as you may be, you looked at Haruhi with a troubled gaze. Haruhi looks back, but instead of remaining in a shocked state, he gave you a warm smile, which made your cheeks turn a shade of red; it even went a shade darker as you realized it was your first kiss. But despite the sudden turn of events, you were happy that everything went back to how it used to be.

'God, I know this day wasn't really the best because of the countless events that happened, which I don't understand why I must be tortured like this but… Thank you for these newfound experiences. I know things may turn out good or bad from time to time but I'm grateful for every single one of them. I can't wait for whatever is waiting for me as I continue to move forward with a new beginning. Please continue guiding me! I look forward to my new adventures with my friends here at Ouran Private Academy!'

~First Story – The Past and a New Beginning : END~

AN: OMG so like after a couple of months I finally managed to update. I am deeply sorry for not continuing this story as I am a busy stressed art student who's working hard to give myself academic honors. I know a lot of you have wanted me to update as everyone seems so intrigued with this story but I really do apologize for making you all wait. I really want to continue and manage both this story and my focus in academics but it seems like I drift myself towards academics before this story. I will really promise that I'll try my best to update this story as much as I can since I'm already having my summer vacation. I will apologize in advance if I fail to update again as this coming school year would be the year of so much stress and late nights as I will be studying really hard to ace academic honors and of course, study hard for upcoming entrance exams to the college universities I've been dreaming to study at. And also, please don't pressure me to update right away as I am organizing my coming 18th birthday on the month of May as I'll be celebrating my debut. I sacrificed my sleeping hours just so I can re-watch the OHSHC series, re-read the OHSHC manga and even trying my best to remember the plot of my own story as I forgot the flow of what's going to happen and also doing proof reading as I make sure that my English Vocabulary and Grammar use is correct. I know it's bad for my health but I am doing this for the sake of my readers (I'm part owl don't worry hehehe). I also want to say just for a little preview for the next few chapters that I'll be posting, it will revolve around your bonding with everyone from the Host Club so please do look forward for the next few chapters. If you guys have any questions and clarifications about the story, feel free to comment down below but I will not give any spoilers but I will do give some hints for you to figure out the flow of the story. Oh and if you noticed that this chapter is longer than the first few, it's because to every end of each story part I'll be doing , it will be longer than the other chapters. One chapter consists of a max of 11-12 pages from MS Word but last chapters per story can reach 20 (this chapter has 15 pages hehe). So, thank you for my readers who continue to read, support and love my story despite my late updates. For those who just started reading my story, I want to thank you for stumbling upon my story; just from you reading it makes me happy. Your support, love and appreciation to my story mean a lot to me and it encourages me to continue writing and updating it. Wish me luck that I can fulfill my promises as I want everyone to continue to love and support this story till the very end. Don't forget to fave, follow and comment on the story. Once again, thank you so much and I hope to see you all in the next update. Love lots 3 –chibichoco o 3 o
