Fact number ten: Orcs never leave their prey alone! They always make sure their desired prey is found and killed if said prey manages to escape. I just so happened to be the sought-after-prey!

Almost four days passed since I killed the Orc-riding-Wargs after drawing them away from the Dwarves! But not without being hurt.

I had back tracked across the plains and escaped within the tree line. Moving further and further away from The Hidden Valley and closer towards the Trolls' camp. There were other ways to get to Rivendell, but as wounded and exhausted my body had become, I wasn't sure how long I would last. The Orcs weren't exactly making my survival easy for me because their relentless pursuing made it hard for me too keep from wearing myself out.

My left side also had been pierced by a damn arrow - piercing through my skin like a damn piercing: in one side and out the other! My wound was dripping blood as I pushed myself towards the Trolls' camp! Dusk was creeping closer so the giant creatures would be out. Dizziness began to run its course! Between losing blood and being injected with whatever substance the Orc had laced the arrowhead with, my body was slowing down and my powers had been counteracted! Blocked! So I couldn't heal myself. There was only one other way I could counteract the substance, but that was only as a last resort, as the idea repulsed me; sickening to my core!

Dusk finally settled as I stepped out of the foliage and into the shadows of the Trolls' camp. I kept myself hidden from the two giant creatures as I made sure I was hidden from view of the few Orcs who burst forth from the tree line while I looked down to check my wound! I bit my lip when I saw the arrow had pierced me only mere inches away from a huge viral spot!

'SHIT, SHIT, SHIT!!!!' I mentally yelled. Stitching that up was going to be a BITCH!

I couldn't waste time! I blinked back the black spots starting to appear across my eyes, forcing my feet to carry my body back to The Hidden Valley! The painful screams of the Orc-riding-Wargs getting torn apart by the two Trolls faded to numbness behind me the further I stumbled from the camp.

Images of Thorin swirled around in my mind's eye! Round and round the many images swirled! My heart ached all of a sudden when I remembered the moment Thorin and I had held each other's eyes from opposite sides of the plains while our hearts simultaneously pulled and tugged at the bond tied to each end; eyes widening simultaneously. Tears streaked down my face when I remembered the look on Thorin's face when I remembered the look on Thorin's face when the Dwarf had grabbed my wrist just when I was about to run onto the plains.

Most of all, I remembered how close Thorin and I had been while he held my wrist with his hand. The warmth of his skin against my lips when I kissed his cheek. My skin tingled! My body shuddered from a chill running down my spine! My heart ached; breathing hitched and tears fell! I had grown to love Thorin. The Pain-In-The-Ass-Dwarf - from the time I first laid eyes on him back in Bag End up until the moment I held those beautiful blue eyes with my purple ones before he followed the Company to Rivendell after Gandalf told him I could take care of myself.

My legs and feet wobbled! My hand tightly held the tree trunk; nails digging into the bark. I wanted to let go, but my hand kept a death grip on the trunk! I found myself staring at a mirage of Thorin standing before me! Tears fell as I bowed my head. "I'm sorry, Thorin." I cried. "It was my job to protect you and I failed!" I turned my eyes to the arrow still pierced through my side; ignoring the dizziness that followed! I closed my eyes and wept! "I failed you and I don't know what to do!" I looked back up to find the mirage of Thorin stopping before me.

"I wish you were here with me one last time! I miss you being by my side. You mean everything to me! I wish I had more time to show you just how much you mean to me!" Tears fell down my face. My legs finally gave out and I sank back against the trunk my hand gripped! I closed my eyes and bowed my head again. I was about to go under!

Strong hands suddenly framed my face between them; gentle and warm, yet strong and protective. I had enough strength to lift my head up and let my eyelids open so my purple eyes could take in the mirage of Thorin - to only find out he was actually standing before me. I relished the touch of his hands. I felt protected.

I reached up to wrap my arms around Thorin's neck while he scooped me up in his arms after wrapping my ice cold body in his coat! I let out a moan!

"Rest, sweetheart." Thorin's command was gentle. "Rest. You're safe now." His deep baritone came forth as he climbed up in the saddle. He held the reigns with one hand while holding me with the other; arm wrapped protectively around me - careful to avoid the arrow.

"I feel cold." I muttered weakly.

"I know, sweetheart," Thorin assured. "I know. We'll be back to Rivendell in a bit."

I leaned my head against Thorin's chest and the world plunged into darkness!
