Ratigan and Basil were once again riding in Lily's truck, but this time, they were going to the New York Comic Con.
Since Isabelle already bought the tickets months ago, they were prepared, but the girls said they should leave early, since the lines were so long. The girls were already in their costumes, but wouldn't show it to them until they got to the center. Leo and Constantine were going to meet them there.
"Here we are." Lily said as she parked the car and they got out. Isabelle went to get coffee as the other got in line, a very big line.
"My God." Basil breathed out as he took in the length of the line, "There must be over 1700 people here."
"How did you get that estimate?" Ratigan said.
"I counted." He said, making Lily roll her eyes.
"My God, this man has no life." She thought as Isabelle came back with the coffee. Hours passed as the group chattered until it was 11 AM when the door finally opened.
"Ok, here are your passes." Isabelle said, giving each of them a pass that they put around their necks. When they go to the coat check, the girls gave the man their coats, revealing their costumes.
Lily was wearing what seemed to be a slave outfit, with a bikini top and two-sided skirt with brown sandals. Her hair was colored brown in a tight braid.
Isabelle's costume was a bit more modest. She was wearing a white and pink halter top and shorts with what seems to be half a skirt and black high boots. She also had toy guns on her hips and her hair was in a braid that was colored red.
The two rodents just stared.
"What the devil are you two supposed to be?"
"This is the Leia's slave outfit from Star Wars." Lily said.
"And I'm supposed to be Yuna, from the 10th Final Fantasy game. " Isabelle said.
"Oh." They said as they took in their costumes. Basil noticed how much skin Lily was showing and how the bikini top barely held her breasts up. Ratigan thought Isabelle looked cute in her outfit, particularly how the shorts cupped her rear.
They suddenly heard a whistle and looked to the side, seeing Constantine and Leo walking to them. Constantine was dressed in a simple black shirt with a skull on it and black pants. Leo, on the other hand, was wearing gold and green armor with a helmet with long curved horns on it, along with a gold scepter.
"What he devil are you, Leo?" Basil asked.
"I'm Loki, from the avengers." He said enthusiastically.
"I take it you're the Punisher." Isabelle said a smirk, "Since he's the most simple."
"Yeah, you all know I'm not into costumes." He said with a shrug.
"Ok." Isabelle said, getting everyone's attention, "Now, let's hang around for a few hours and then meet up at the theater for the Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva movie, kay?"
They all nodded and then Lily grabbed Basil.
"Come on, Basil, I'll show you the anime-fest."
"Before he could protest, he was dragged away, making the rest of the group giggle and went their separate ways. As Isabelle and Ratigan walked together, Ratigan looked rather bemused by all the cosplayers, especially when two dresses as Jigsaw and Pyramid Head walked by.
"Such odd characters!" Ratigan exclaimed.
"Yeah, but not everyone is in costume." She said, pointing to a guy dresses in a sonic hat and a little bomber shirt. They then got to a large booth that said Capcom. Seeing Ratigans confused expression, she explained.
"This is a videogame company. They did games like Mega man and Devil May Cry."
Ratigan nodded and then suddenly, Isabelle pushed him to the side, just as a large group of people rushed past them. Ratigan watched as the mob passed by them, then looking at Isabelle in bemusement.
"What the devil was that?" he asked.
"That was the 100,000 strong for Mega man Legend 3 group. They are a group that's trying to show Capcom that there are still fans for Legends 3 since Capcom cancel the game. They formed after that, but I don't know if they will pull it off. It's tough going against a company."
Ratigan thought of his criminal activities and smiled.
"Well, anything is possible." He said with a devious smile. Isabelle smiled as she took his arm and started to look at the other booths. Suddenly, a man appeared in front of them with his hair gelled up like a pompous and wearing a jacket with an odd belt.
"Hi, there." He said, "Wow, nice costume, man."
"Um, thank you." Ratigan said in bemusement, "Who are you supposed to be?"
The cosplayer suddenly struck a pose.
"I'm Gentaro Kisaragi! I'll going to make friends with anyone in the universe. Also, I'm Kamen Rider Fourze."
He then starts to press the switches onto the belt, which spoke out;
"3…2…1…"
He then pulled on his belt and yelled out,
"Henshin!"
Isabelle and Ratigan looked at the man in amusement.
"Uh, ok, we'll just be going." Isabelle said as they quickly moved away. They checked out a gift shop and Ratigan scoffed at the price of a t-shirt.
"Thirty dollars. Insane." He grumbled, making Isabelle chuckle.
"Well, Ratigan, these people have to make a living." She said, turning around, letting Ratigan roamed her backside.
"I must play this game she's cosplaying as." He thought.
Meanwhile, Basil and Lily made it to the anime fest, but they noticed how small it was.
"What the hell happened?" she growled, catching the attention of a guy dressed as a bluish penguin with demon wings that keep saying 'dood!'.
"Don't you know? Ever since they combined the comic con and the anime festival, it's like the con is eating what's left of the anime fest. Well, at least we still got the maids."
Lily cursed under her breath, making Basil stare at her in amusement. He then saw a group of girls yelling kawaii and holding up signs saying "I LOVE YAIO!"
"Ms. O'Hare, what is this yaio?" he asked, making Lily grin.
"Oh, honey, you don't want to know." She said. Suddenly, Basil was surrounded by a bunch of girls and one was talking at full speed."
"LIKEOHMYGODTHATCOSPLAYISSOAWESOMEANDREALLOOKINGYO USHOULDENETERTHECONTESTFORBESTCOSPLAYI'LLTAKEYOUTH ERENOWLADIESTAKEHIM."
The cosplay girls grabbed him and dragged him away.
"Ms.O'Hare…Lily, help me!" he yelled as he was dragged off. Lily sighed and went after the, when she was blocked by a guy wearing a belt with a sword and a gun.
"Hey, babe, how about we go for a gokai change?" he said with a suggestive smile.
"Oh, fuck off shithead." She said, shoving past him and headed to where the contest was being held. Basil was already backstage with the rapid fangirls.
"WEALREADYSIGNEDYOUUP!SOGOODLUCK!KAWAII!"
Basil just stared at her bemusement.
"I…see. What is the purpose of this contest?"
"ITSACOSPLAYCONTEST!THEWINNERGETSATROPHYANDAYEARSW ORTHOFHENTAI!GOODLUCK!"
Basil just stood there in confusion, but he walked up to the stage and the judges looked at him in amazement.
"That fur looks so realistic; it must have taken years to complete this."
"This is my actual fur." He said, making the judges laugh as though he said a joke.
"Well, I don't think any of our other entrées are going to top this. Congratulations, Mr. Basil, you are our winner. Come and get your prize!"
Basil received his trophy and there was a loud cheer, making Basil smile awkwardly. He then received a card.
"Also, you get a membership card to a yearly supply of hentai doujin."
Basil nodded and walked off the stage, going straight to Lily.
"Well, Ms.O'Hare, I done it. I'm sure the others will be surprised about this."
"Sure will be." She said with a smile, "Let's go meet them."
As they walked to where the movie was being held, they saw Isabelle and Ratigan waiting in line along with Leo and Constantine. Ratigan looked at the trophy in basils hands and quirk up an eyebrow.
"What's that?"
"It's an award for best costume. Those fangirls just went wild." Lily said, making Basils face heat up under his fur while the others laughed. As they waited in line, they were given Professor Layton tall hats, making everyone snicker when they saw how big the hat was on Isabelle. They sat in the back due to Ratigan size and he grimaced as he tried to sit on the small chairs. A cosplayer with gelled up hair sat next to him and she looked over him.
"Nice Disney cosplay. How you worked the materials?"
"A year of planning and money." Was his answer.
"Ah, it looks so life-like. You look like a real rat."
Ratigan immediately tense at that, but Isabelle grabbed his hand and squeezed. He then looked at the cosplayer with a strained smile.
"Yes…like a…rat." He said through gritted teeth.
As the Nintendo representative finished talking, the movie started but the cosplayer didn't shut up.
"Oh my god, I seen this movie in Japanese subbing on youtube. God, I hope they keep the American voices, kawaii!"
Ratigan then looked at the cosplayer in annoyance.
"Miss, please forgive my rudeness, but can you please be quiet?"
The cosplayer became quiet as they watched the rest of the film. Basil watched it with great interest as the puzzles were shown. An hour later, the movie finished and the group headed to their cars
"This was a fascinating experience." Basil just said, but Ratigan was still annoyed.
"It was except for that irritating cosplayer." He said, his ears twitching when he heard a noise to the side. He then saw the cosplayer was part of the Mega man group.
"I hope they burn." He growled out, but Isabelle took his arm and they all headed home.
AN: Phew, I finally got this chapter done, and it's my longest. So, our heroes are now at a comic con.
My boyfriend helped me wrote this, since I never been to one and he has been to several. So, he did the majority here. So, the girls get ogled with their costumes, Basil gets kidnapped, Ratigan nearly kills a cosplayer and they all think it's a fascinating experience. Sorry I didn't put the boys experience; I just wanted Ratigan and Basil to have one.
