Chapter 26

Ai can see how much Kagome's to be the selfless one when it comes to affording someone. "Kagome, are you sure about this?" She asks Kagome in concern. Kagome nods. "Mom, with all do in respect, can you bring Inuyasha here. He needs to know about this." She asks in pleas. Ai nods and leaves the room.

Ai comes into the kitchen, looking for Inuyasha. No one is in there, so she looks around the house, trying to find him. She walks around until she sees that the office door is closed. 'Maybe he's in there.' She thought hopefully. She is about to knock until the door suddenly opens to reveal Toga. "I was able to pick up with your scent." He said rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.

"It's ok. I was looking for Inuyasha. Do you know where he is?" Ai smiles as she asks her question. Toga opens the door to welcome the older woman. She can see that Inuyasha is inside as well. "Inuyasha, Kagome wants to see you." Ai said to him seriously in a genuine tone. "Ok." He leaves the office and heads to the bedroom where Kagome is resting.

Kagome is looking through her phone to find anything interesting other than her condition. She looks through possible places where she can get physical therapy to see if her legs to get better. "Kagome." Inuyasha said as he enter the room. "Oh hey there." Kagome smiles happy as she tries to scoot over on the bed for him to sit next to her. Inuyasha can see the screen on Kagome's phone. "Trying to find someone to help you recover your legs?" He asks her curiously.

Kagome nods sadly. "Yeah. Even if it did work, I don't know if I'll be able to walk again." She said honestly. Inuyasha narrows his eyes and looks down toward her. "I know this may sound weird, but have you tried purifying the poison that effected the legs?" Kagome, shakes her head. "I was told if I were to purify the position, I would have to sit Indian style. But since my legs can't do it, I'm not able to do it effectively." She explains to him. That alone made her depressed.

"Other than that, what do you decide on which school to go to?" Inuyasha changes the subject. Kagome looks as she grabs the blanket. "Inuyasha, I know fully well that we're mate. But I have to go back to Sakura Hills because it's the only school my mom can afford for me." She admits with her bangs covering her eyes. Inuyasha growls lowly, but not enough for Kagome to hear it. "But what about me? I should go there instead of Shikon." He suggest to her. Kagome shakes her head. "Sakura Hills is an all human school. Demons or half demon are forbidden to even step foot onto the school grounds." Kagome weeps.

That made Inuyasha gasp in horror. He never knew that Sakura Hill would have strict rules. Unlike Shikon High, it allowed demons, half demons as well as humans to attend. But it's more expensive. Seeing that it was enough for Toga to have him and his brother to attend. But would Toga be willing to do that for Kagome as well?

Toga shows Ai the Sakura Hills website. "See, demons and half demon are not allowed to attend because of a spiritual barrier is protecting that place." He explains calmly. "Oh. Well, I know for sure that I cannot afford Shikon High because of my price range, as such Kagome can't go to there where Inuyasha goes." She added to him. Toga sits down in his office chair with a sigh. "Then this leaves me no choice." He comments to her. Ai blinks her eyes. "What choice?" She challenged him gently.

Toga looks to her in the eye with a look of certainty. "For what we know between the two schools, Kagome and my son are separated from each day. And Kagome's legs are going to make it harder for Inuyasha to be by her side since she cannot walk. This left me with this one option." Ai waits for him to tell her. "I'll pay Kagome intuition." He offers. Ai gasps at him. "What? There's no way I can pay you after what happened." Ai tries to protest the idea. Toga stops her with his hand halting her from any more of her disagreement.

"I know, Ai. I'm fully aware of it. However, ever since our kids are mated to each other, it's their first priority to be together no matter. Don't think it as a loan. It's more of a gift. There's no need for you to pay me back for that matter. Inuyasha's been through enough of struggle since he found Kagome. I may not like this one bit, but it's for their best interest to go to Shikon instead of Sakura Hills."

Ai never thought of this generous offer. "I had no idea that this mate thing was so serious for them. Kagome told me that she was going back to Sakura Hills. She thought it was the only way to make sure I can afford it for her." Ai said honestly to him. Toga nods. "She wanted you to be happy about your decision. But this is her decision now. She needs to think this wisely if she's going to make the right choice. "We might as well tell her." She said as she and Toga leave the office and head to Kagome's bedroom.

Inuyasha holds onto Kagome to calm down her depressing state. How could someone decide to have this kind of system. He knows that his father is the leader of the council, but he doesn't have the authority of the board of education. 'If only dad could do something about it.' He thought to himself. The door opens up, singling him to let go of Kagome. "Inuyasha. Kagome." Toga spoke first as he enters the room with Ai and Izayoi behind him. "What do you want this time? Can't you see that Kagome is depressed and scare about her decision." Inuyasha growls at them.

Toga knows that Inuyasha is protecting his mate from him. "I can see that. We here to discuss it." He said seriously. "Is it because I decided to go back to Sakura Hills." Kagome asks in an upset tone. Ai sits in front of her. "Kagome, sweetie. I can tell you wanted to make sure that I'm able to afford it instead of Shikon High. To make me happy." She said in an understanding way.

"Even if it makes me upset about it." Kagome snapped back. Inuyasha quickly grabs her before Kagome could do something that she'll regret immediately. "I'm curious why Shikon High is more expensive than Sakura Hills. There's supposed to be identical schools." Kagome asks Toga. Toga can see that Kagome is desperate about it. "Shikon High is that way because demons make more money that humans do. They've lived for centuries, and they have power over it. Shockingly when half demons came into existence, they had to change the rules in order for them to attend. And later on humans were accepted as well. Sakura Hills on the other hand believed that demons would be a problem and they prefer that only humans are allowed, thus making it easier for them afford for their kids to attend." Toga explains the schools' histories.

Kagome looks down in disappointment. "Since you two are mates, it's best that you two together no matter. Even though you chose to go back to Sakura Hills, I've decided to pay for your intuition so you can go to Shikon High." Toga tells her. Kagome is dumbfounded. Even Inuyasha is shocked to hear this from his father. "I'm sorry. What did you say?" Kagome asks to be such she wasn't going crazy. Toga smiles warmly. "You heard me right. I'm going to pay for your intuition. Consider it as a gift after making my son happy by accepting his mate."

Just hearing that made Kagome cry with tears of joy. She raised her arms to him. Toga knows what she's trying to do. He hugs her. "Thank you so much. I don't know how to repay you." Kagome said in between her sobs. "There's nothing to repay me. As long as you're my son's mate, that's enough for us." Toga returns the gesture.

Izayoi clears her throat to get their attention. "Now that we got that out of the way, we need to focus on Kagome's legs so she can walk again." She said to them. Kagome nods. "So far I looked up possible physical therapists to help me." She said the older woman. Izayoi smiles. "I'm impressed that you're thinking ahead. Have you tried purifying the poison that affected them?" She asks Kagome curiously.

Kagome shrugs her shoulders. "I tried to, but I can't do it unless I'm sitting Indian style." She answers honestly. Izayoi nods to shows her that she understands. "If only there was some way for you to get walking again. We can't have you like for the rest of your life." She points out. Ai pulls out her phone. "Maybe our physician could find the right person for the job." She looks through her contacts for her doctor. "Please excuse me." Ai politely said as she leaves the room. Toga and Izayoi decide to do the same thing. "We'll leave you two alone." Toga said as the parents leave the room.
