The excuse for the delay on this chapter is my final exams, thesis submission and viva for my masters - hopefully that's a good enough reason! This chapter is dedicated to Angels-heart1, and The Ghostly Horse (I will change those errors, thank you for pointing them out!) Thank you very much to all of you who review, favourite, follow and read this little bit of fun, as always it's greatly appreciated.

M is for Menus, Maid-of-honour

Anyone watching the cameras in Molly's flat that evening would have been somewhat confused. Even Mycroft was confused. It would appear to the untrained eye that Sherlock and Molly were having a girl's night in, and even to the trained eye, it looked suspiciously like a girl's night in.

After pouring a lot of effort into John and Mary's wedding planning as best man, he felt that as Molly's maid of honour he should do the same for her. So they donned face masks, looked through menus, flowers, dresses, all the things to be expected of a maid of honour and the bride. It was almost unnerving how good Sherlock was at it… Molly was tempted on more than one occasion to call him Sheryl. The evening had begun with nachos, easy finger food that they could pick at between magazine articles. This lead to Molly's idea of nacho based canapés, and resulted in the pair of them on her sofa in guacamole face masks. Molly was sure that Mycroft was streaming them live to his parents, but didn't want to spoil the relaxed atmosphere that it was so hard to get with Sherlock.

It just so happened that luck was not on her side. Tom chose the moment they were removing the facemasks to come home. What Molly didn't know at the time is that he was very allergic to avocado, so when she kissed him hello she was not expecting his face to swell up. It wasn't long before Molly and Tom were in an ambulance and Sherlock was alone on her sofa eating nachos and glaring at the cameras.

To say that Tom was not impressed would be an understatement. It hadn't taken long to get the swelling down and return his breathing to normal, but it was not that he was unimpressed with. He hadn't told Molly of the state of his allergy, as the subject had never come up, what he was perplexed and unimpressed by was finding the pair of them in face masks planning his wedding!

"What on Earth were you doing this evening?" He asked bluntly,

"We were looking at menus, flowers and dresses. Sherlock has been helping John and Mary with their wedding, and I thought that as my maid of honour he should have some input in ours." Molly replied slowly, smiling as it was no big deal to her.

"He's your maid of honour?" Tom almost choked out the words

"Yes…"Molly replied, as if it were the most normal thing in the world.

"Seriously?" Tom almost shouted, to his knowledge they hadn't set a date, let alone chosen the bridal party and groomsmen. He thought of the impression Sherlock had given to his family when they had all but kidnapped Molly for a case – his mother would be livid to know the man was there at all, let alone planning it.

"What's wrong with that? He's a closer friend than a lot of my female friends." Molly replied defensively, it may have been the truth, it certainly wasn't the reason, but Tom didn't need to know that.

"I don't want him planning my wedding." Tom sulked, having spent years on the other end of one consulting detectives sulks, it took all her willpower not to tell him to bloody well do it himself. Instead she slowly and carefully explained what would happen if they didn't invite him. There would be a case, it would be above an eight, he would swipe her during the vows and it would all be endorsed by the British government himself. There were not enough body parts in the whole of London to keep Sherlock from doing something that would make the wedding unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. She finished her rant with a reminder that her friends were a key part of her life, and she wouldn't compromise on them having an active part in the wedding.

She forced back a smirk as Tom bowed his head, seemingly ashamed of his selfishness. He knew Molly was not the greatest fan of his best friend, who would undoubtedly be best man, so maybe he should bide his time and hope that Sherlock made enough trouble between now and the wedding that he had a solid excuse for banning him…
