A/N: Hey again! This is just a very quick one I wanted to do, and yeah, it's a little bit of a downer! XD Trust me though, I'm planning on doing a funny one pretty soon!

I OWN NOTHING!

Enjoy!

Wordless

He knew very well that he wasn't supposed to be out here, especially in plain sight where the Kraang or the Foot could easily get the drop on him or worse. But for the first time in a long time…Leonardo simply couldn't care less as he sat on the rooftop of an abandoned building nearby the pizzeria, his azure eyes as downcast as ever as he stared down at the pavement below. Letting his feet dangle over the edge of the roof, Leo let out a heavy sigh as he looked up again, gazing off into the distance as his mask tails fluttered behind him in the light breeze.

It was still there. No matter how hard he tried to quell it, to mask it with something else or to keep on hoping for the better, the growing pain in the pit of his heart still lingered, burning hotter than a furnace with no intention of ebbing away.

And the longer it burned, the more the sadness he'd once felt slowly morphed into anger as his brows furrowed, his hands clenching into tight fists on his lap.

It should've worked. The retro-mutagen should've helped Karai. She was supposed to turn back to normal. She was supposed to come back with them and be reunited with her true father. She was supposed to be happy. She deserved to be happy…

A feral growl escaped his throat as he ground his teeth together, standing up as he paced the rooftop back and forth before he violently kicked at a satellite dish with a grunt, sending it flying to who-knows-where before he resumed his angered pacing.

This was all Shredder's fault. That manic kidnapped her as a baby, brainwashed her into believing that Splinter was the one who'd taken her mother away, forced her to attack her true family, and then when she discovered the truth, what does he do? He throws her in a cell. And when she finally has a chance to be truly happy for the first time in her life, he hangs her over a tank of mutagen and mutates her into a snake. He'd ruined her chances of finding happiness! He'd ruined Splinter's chance of finally being with his daughter again!

He'd ruined everything!

With a yell, Leo unsheathed one katana and sliced at an air vent, watching as the upper half slid down and landed with a clank on the concrete. Unsatisfied, Leo continued to slash at the vent, not caring if the vent was crumbling the longer he hacked at it, not caring if he was making too much noise, and beyond caring if he hadn't noticed the hot tears streaming down his cheeks as he attacked the useless scrap of metal…as if he were imbedding his blade through the helmet of the Shredder himself.

"You can come home with us, Karai. We'll take care of you. I promise!"

"…no…too dangerousss…my mind isss…going…"

"…then…then why did you want us to find you?!"

"…wanted…to ssssay…goodbye. To all of you…"

He couldn't get the look in her eyes as she bid them her final farewell out of his head…or the heartbreak in his father's eyes when they told him what happened. And despite how much he blamed the Shredder for that too…Leo couldn't deny that he was partly at fault for everything as well.

If only he'd stopped her from leaving the liar whilst he'd had the chance. If only he'd been faster in getting to her before it was too late…if only…if only…if only…

"Whoa, whoa, Leo!"

His violent barrage came to a halt as he spun around, only to find Raphael standing a few meters away from him, his emerald eyes wide as he watched his older brother. Leo froze, his own eyes widened and cheeks still dripping with tears as he and his younger brother stared into each other's eyes, remaining silent for what seemed like an eternity. And then Leo realized what he must have looked like to Raph.

He was a mess. An enraged, broken-hearted wreck. Not at all like the leader that Raph, Mikey and Donnie looked up to…

"…Leo?" Raph whispered.

Blinking out of his shock, Leo quickly wiped the tears from his eyes with the back of his hand with a sniff as he sheathed his sword and cleared his throat, averting his eyes away from his brother in shame. "Sorry…sorry, Raph, I'm fine," Leo said as he folded his arms, wincing as his voice cracked at the edges. "I-I'm…I'm just…"

"Leo," Raph said again, taking a step closer to his brother as his eyes turned solemn. "What are you doing up here all alone? Splinter's worried about you, y'know. You weren't in bed with the rest of us…what happened?" he asked.

Feigning a smile even though they both knew that it was useless, Leo shrugged nonchalantly. "Nothing happened, Raph," he said. "I just came out here to…well…" He turned back to the destroyed hunk of metal behind him, and shrugged again as he turned back to Raph. "…vent?"

Raph didn't reply immediately, nor did he even smirk at Leo's poor joke as he folded his arms, giving Leo a look that was, oddly enough, soft and understanding, despite the fact that it was Raphael. "Leo," he said once more, his voice as gentle as Leo ever remembered hearing it.

And it was that gentleness in his brothers' voice, and the understanding in his harlequin eyes that finally brought Leo's walls down as he sighed heavily, his arms dropping uselessly to his sides as he lowered his head. Biting his lip hard as fresh tears rolled down his cheeks, Leo turned away from Raph before lowering himself to sit on the rooftop, wrapping his arms around his legs as he buried his face into his knees. He said nothing. What could he say? How could he possibly tell Raph that he was tired? Tired of fighting a losing battle, tired of looking into his father's heart-broken eyes, tired of feeling that he couldn't do anything…tired of repeating the same scene of looking into the suffering gaze of Karai, the girl he'd believed in, and yet failed to protect…?

Silent moments passed, before Leo heard Raph move to stand beside him, though he didn't look up from his knees. Without saying a word, Raph then sat down beside him and wrapped both arms around his shoulders, pulling him close for a rare, unyielding but loving hug as he rested his head against Leo's.

The two of them stayed that way for a long time, neither of them saying a word as the minutes passed. But Leo soon found that as his hand reached out and took Raph's, their fingers intertwining and holding each other fast like an unmovable stone, it was better that way. With all the things that Leonardo wanted to say, what he'd been holding back within the pit of his heart, he knew that they didn't need to be spoken.

Raphael understood him best when he said nothing at all…

A/N: I love these two so much. And I REALLY MISS KARAI! DX

I'll do a happier one next, I promise! 'Till then, TTFN, Ta ta For Now!
