A.N. Sorry it's taken me this long to write; things have been really crazy
"I still can't believe it." Johanna said.
"Hey, you're not the one getting married here. " Kate leaned her chair back. They strewed wedding magazines on the kitchen table. "When I took that case I never dreamed this would happen. We need to start somewhere, Mom."
"I know." Johanna picked up the legal pad. "We can do a few things without him, but we need a date before we book a venue or food. Have you asked people to be in your wedding party yet?"
"Sorry I'm late, girl," Lanie burst through the kitchen door. "What did I miss?"
"Hey, Lanie, we were just starting. We're going over the wedding party."
"So who am I walking down the aisle with?"
"I don't know. He's still deciding. And since he was an only child, we're sticking to friends, although Matt agreed to be an usher. You'll probably end up with one of his poker buddies." She turned to her mother. "Lanie's Maid of Honor of course, and I called up a few college friends from California. Andrea and Emily are able to be there. Oh, and we're thinking of having Martha walk Alexis down with a set of silk flowers in a basket. "
"I'm not sure that's the best idea." Johanna said.
"We were just thinking about it. Well, Rick insists, but I do want her to be a part of ceremony somehow. We'll figure it out."
"Okay, what about the dresses?" Johanna changed the subject.
"You know I was always planning to wear yours. I was thinking a nice teal for the bridesmaid dresses." Kate said.
"And we all look good in teal." Lanie agreed.
"Okay, that's settled."

"But we still have to choose a style or go with the same color and different styles for different body types; I've seen that done before." Kate said.
The couple sat on a porch swing outside his house.
"How did it go today?" Castle asked.
"Too many details for one day. I can do that when it's a case, but this…..maybe we should just elope. And Lanie's dying to know who your best man is."
"She's just going to have to wait until the rehearsal."
"You're not giving anything away, are you?" She asked.
"When would I ever give a spoiler alert?" He responded.
"So, about the date…"
