Lol I'm an idiot and I made a fatal flaw in my plot in this story and it took me a bit of time to try to work things out and make sure it'll work with the rest of my story. Thanks to all who sent me lovely reviews.

Okay this story gets the most hits, so let me say something: DON'T send me any passive aggressive messages please. It seriously kills my motivation to write. I'm sorry that I have a life and I have a lot going on in terms of school, health, work, etc. I don't mind messages that say 'good luck! I hope you update soon!' but messages were you try to guilt trip me, or threaten me- you realize that's just going to make me avoid writing even longer... right? Don't do it. Seriously. I don't even get paid or anything for the time I spent on these.
TLDR: Don't send me passive aggressive messages, unless you want me to update slower. Literally a 'I love this story! Please update soon!' will suffice in motivating me more than a passive aggressive message.

Chapter 10- Hibari : We missed you! [2]
Haru woke up to hear something that sounded like a small explosion in the house?
Who… broke something in the house?
Did someone explode something?
Mentally groaning to herself, she had to push herself off the bed.
Next she heard the frantic noises of frightened animals. Well then, that was Haru's cue to wake herself up completely and to find the source of the problem.
"I'm sorry! I need to go back and check to see where I made my error! I'll be back! Gyoyoyoyoyo!"
That was the voice of Giannini if Haru recalled.
What was he doing here so early, she wondered?
As soon as she walked downstairs, something flew into her stomach while screaming 'Haru~~~'
All she saw was a head of yellow hair.
Next, someone else was tugging on her night shirt. A small girl with medium length short hair that was sticking all over the place making it look spikey.
She didn't know who these kids were and they were definitely the reason behind the other animals freaking out.
That wasn't the important part right now, however. What she had to focus on instead was the fact that these people were naked!
"Hahi! Both of you come with me this instant!" Haru took the hands of these two people in her hands and ran back up into her room and fished out some clothes that should fit on them. Haru was happy that she had packed a few belts and such that she could use to help keep her clothes on them if they were too big on them.
From the looks of things, they were very young teens, perhaps between the ages of 13-15? That was just her guess.
At least this way they could have something on while she went to make something quick for them.
"Haru Haru! Hibird wants to visit Hibari!" One of the girls flapped her arms up and down enthusiastically. Surely, this teen was the humanized version of Hibird.
"Me too!" The second little girl spoke up shyly from behind Hibird.
This shy one, had to be Roll.
Luckily their sizes weren't too different from her own size, so they were able to wear her clothes with no problem—aside from the problem of not knowing how to put the clothes on.
"Hibari Hibari!" Hibird was staring to have a little tantrum as she wanted to meet Hibari immediately.
With a small sigh, she pulled out her cellphone and dialed a number, to which, Kusakabe answered as Hibari was probably taking a nap on the rooftop.
Figures, at this time, he wouldn't be in the office, but instead taking a nap. She shook her head at the thought, but alerted Kusakabe that she was going to visit soon with two 'people' who wanted to visit Hibari.
Understanding the situation, he was going to prepare 3 visitors passes for them for when they finally get to the school.
Turning to look at the two girls who were sitting next to each other happily, she flashed them both a smile. "Are you ready to go and meet Hibari-san?" She asked.
Immediately, the two of them hopped onto their feet and skipped around in circles excitedly.
"Just let me get ready, wait for me downstairs, okay? I have to be with you to explain to Hibari-san why you look like that." With those instructions, the two of them rushed down the stairs to wait for Haru to get herself ready to leave.
Currently, all she had on her mind was the fact that she was going to have to explain to Hibari what happened, and the overbearing question of how long they would be like this for.
What she didn't know, was that the other animals downstairs were staring down at the extra ammo that Giannini had left behind which changed the animals into a humanoid form.
With their superior hearing, they could hear that they were going to be allowed to visit their masters.
Like that, they would be able to tell their masters anything they wanted and be free to give them all hugs and kisses, right?
Pretty unanimously the other animals decided to go and hide the remaining ammo from Haru so she wouldn't confiscate it from them.
Of course, the plan was for them to use it on a later date if they really wanted to see their masters. Different animals would take the ammo and roll it off to a hiding place that they were sure that Haru wouldn't find them, such as under the couch.
It was the quick thinking of Jirou which prompted the other animals to follow a similar suit, so when Haru came down, there was no sign of there being any of the ammo that Giannini had left behind in his hurry to review back to his planning board.
Once Hibird and Roll saw Haru, they bounced up to her with wide smiles. "Let's go. I want to see master now." Roll's eyes were practically sparkling as she said this.
She was very attached to Hibari, as was Hibird.
"Well then let's go. Make sure that you stick close to me, okay?" Haru spoke clearly, hoping the two of them would understand why she was saying this.
"Even as humans now, we can take care of ourselves." Roll huffed unpleasantly, being rather haughty of her own power.
As expected of Hibari's box animal, to be so haughty.
"Though you can't understand the way humans work right? Do you want to cause your master problems with your mistakes?" Haru questioned, reasoning with the humanoid box animal through using her master against her.
At first, she intended to be stubborn and roam around independently, but the thought of causing her master problems, made her resolve wash away quickly. With a slump of the shoulders, she held out her hand for Haru to hold onto.
Not wanting to be alone, Hibird took Haru's other free hand, "Let's go!~" She cheered as she started tugging on Haru's hand as she was rushing towards the door.
You wouldn't think it at first, but she was pretty strong for being a small yellow bird originally.
Hibird continued to lead the way until they stepped foot past the Namimori school gates.
"Hello Haru-san, here are your three visitor's passes." Kusakabe greeted her, holding out the passes in his hands.
Haru took the passes with a silent head nod and she pinned them onto the clothes of the two younger girls with her and they immediately ran off to find Hibari.
Started by their sudden start, she was late to start chasing after them so she was trailing behind them as they dashed off to find Hibari. Perhaps it's the fact that they were both intelligent animals, but they picked up on learning how to walk and run rather quickly.
Guess it wasn't too hard if the human body was evolved to walk best that way.
As Hibird had accompanied Hibari for many naps, she didn't have to think twice before she dashed up the stairs onto the rooftop where he was surely taking a nap on.
Roll, trusting the judgment of the 'senior animal companion,' she followed behind Hibird without question.
Sure enough, Hibari was on the roof napping as usual!
Unable to contain their excitement they ran at Hibari. As though he sensed their presence, or perhaps it was just that he was a light sleeper (as recounted fearfully by Tsuna) he woke up and had pulled out his tonfas, ready to go on the offensive.
Roll was the closest to him, and if anyone had the intentions of fighting him, whether they be female or male, he was going to treat them back in kind—by fighting back.
"Masteeerrr!" "Hibari Hibari!" The two girls squealed and launched themselves into Hibari, who froze as soon as he heard their voices.
On closer inspection, the blonde had similar behavioral patterns as Hibird. She would rush at him as soon as she saw him and chirp, 'Hibari Hibari!' as she'd do so.
Then, as she'd reach him, she'd try to perch on top of his head, which he assumed this girl was trying to do as she was trying to reach the top of his head.
Guess she didn't put the 'you are now human' into consideration when she was attempting to perch on his head.
If this was Hibird, then the other girl had to be Roll.
"Master~" She lifted his hand and placed it on top of her head, asking for a head pat.
Yep, this was Roll alright. She was a confident box animal who loved to fight (alongside Hibari) and when alone would seek out affection from the normally stoic prefect.
Now that he figured that these two females were in fact his animal companions, the last questions remained: Why were they like this, where was Haru, and how long were they going to be like this for?
"Ha…Ha-Hahi! Haru must be out of shape!" Haru was clutching at the side of the doorway to the rooftop as she slowly slid down from her exhaustion.
These two girls were surprisingly very limber and agile! She couldn't catch up to them no matter how desperately she ran! It was a relief that Hibari hadn't hurt the girls from his initial surprise.
From Tsuna's tearful recount of his one time at the hospital, he had woken Hibari from a nap and got horribly beaten up. She wasn't sure what she'd do if she reached the roof to see him hurting them.
Luckily, she didn't see that at all, and instead saw the two girls crowding around Hibari. The two were no longer cute animal and he felt irked by these two females crowding around him. However they were similar enough to their animal counterparts that Hibari could remain calm.
"Mind explaining this to me, Miura Haru?" Hibari shot her a quick glance and instantly started to pry for answers.
Still needing to regain her breath, she held her hand up to signal that she needed to regain more of her breath before she could answer his question. Swallowing her anxieties for a moment, she spoke out between heavy breaths: "Giannini came… and tried to… return the animals… to… normal, and those…two turned out… like that." She laboriously reported what she knew.
Phew! She finally got it all out! Now she's allowed to pass out, right? She's never seen a ground that looked so comfy before.
"Master, I have something important to say!" Roll was tugging on Hibari's arm, with puppy eyes, garnering his attention.
It wasn't until his other arm was tugged that he realized that Hibird wanted something out of him as well. Sigh… he seemed to be rather popular today.
From the looks of things Hibari was getting tired of this rather quickly.
"I love you, master!" Roll hugged Hibari's arm and rubbed her cheek against his shoulder, sending a small tingle down his spine.
He wasn't used to this much physical contact from other people who weren't animals. Even with animals there was a limit to how much contact he could handle.
Just when he thought about lashing out, he'd recall the look of the happy Roll resurface in his mind, stopping him from lashing out.
This was a dire predicament for him, where he wanted to beat something but he couldn't. He wouldn't be able to handle it if Roll were never to look at him again.
He had to admit that as a human she was rather cute.
"Me too! Hibird loves Hibari too!" Hibird mirrored Rolls actions, further Hibari's descent into personal hell.
Normally these two were quiet as animals and now they were being so talkative and so… clingy. It's fine as small animals but as teenage-sized humans, this was getting stuffy.
It wasn't hard to see that Hibari wasn't very comfortable with the situation, so Haru was thinking about what she could do to fix this.
She slowly approached the two, and the sound of her feet scuffing against the ground alerted three pairs of eyes staring at her intensively.
Hibird seemed to have thought of something and looked over at Roll, who appeared to have the same thought. Having looked to each other at the same time, they smiled and turned their attention back to Haru. "Haru love Hibari too?" Hibird asked with an innocent head tilt.
"Master is the best, right?" Roll tilted her head in a similar fashion, her words having a certain persuasive weight to them.
Unable to answer the question so quickly, the stares of the three pairs of eyes grew stronger, making Haru want to shrink back and slowly slink her way down the stairs.
Heck, she may survive if she jumped down from the rooftop. There were plenty of trees for her to grab onto and use to her advantage. She wasn't on the gymnastics team for nothing after all.
Her gymnastics meets were one of the reasons why she was so popular, especially among school boys from other schools.
"I'm curious about your answer." Hibari breathed out calmly.
It was taking her too long to answer apparently, so the two girls soon swarmed to Haru's sides and grabbed her hands and dragged her over to where Hibari was.
Forcing her to sit down next to Hibari, Hibird sat in Haru's lap and Roll sat next to Hibari and lightly bopped her head on his arm.
"Hibird waits for Haru's answer." Hibird's voice 'chirped' brightly as she rested her head backwards in order to hear Haru's heartbeat pounding against her chest. "Haru's heart go boom boom boom!" Hibird giggled.
Hearing Hibird say this the other two turned to stare at Haru keenly. So her heart was beating quickly?
Now what ever could the reason be for her heart beating so quickly?
Haru was looking away from these probing eyes which were staring so hard that they could probably drill holes into her head.
These cruel and horrible animals, teasing her this way. She preferred the animals when they were quiet and weren't able to communicate as well.
Hibird didn't change much however, as she could always speak.
Being forced into this situation her throat felt dry, and her heart was beating way too fast for comfort. It was worse than when she had to compete at a gymnastics meet.
"Eto… Haru feels… um…" She twiddled her fingers together nervously. The longer she waited the more awkward it was becoming, but she didn't know how she wanted to answer the question.
Never did she really think about how she felt for any of the guys.
They were all nice people, but some were easier to get along with than others. Hibari was not one of those people who were easier to get along with. It was rather the opposite.
He was probably one of the hardest people for her to get along with since he wasn't exactly the type who opened up to others. Not to mention that he was terribly intimidating to everyone—even his hooligan henchmen.
Surprisingly though, they were super loyal to him. Were men willing to swear loyalty to anyone who could beat them within an inch of their life and claim that it's out of 'respect'?
To her, it seemed more like they were being threatened and felt fear. That is what she thought until she would talk to Kusakabe at times about Hibari and the shinning admiration in his eyes always made Haru backtrack her thoughts.
Animals also seemed to respect Hibari and crowd around him.
There was a time when they all went to an onsen and while all of the box animals were out and about, they all disappeared around dinner time. It wasn't until later that they found out that it was because the box animals took the food and were serving it to Hibari[1].
Long inner monologue short, Hibari was intimidating and she didn't want to offend him, but she still didn't want to lie to him either.
It's a complicated matter to be honest.
"It's not like Haru dislikes Hibari-san. I know that he's strong and respectable. Haru just… doesn't know him that well enough to say that she… loves him… just yet." She spoke slowly and clearly, hoping that the two humanoid animals would understand the meaning behind her words.
They both grew attached to Hibari quickly so they didn't know just how much 'getting to know' Hibari that she needed in order to love him as much as they did.
Was it a few seconds? Minutes? Hours? Days? MONTHS?
"Roll, Haru needs time? How many?" Hibird looked at Roll, hoping that she had answers.
Unfortunately Roll had the same questions running through her head. Surely she couldn't need that much more time? Master was an amazing person and someone would have to be blind to not see his brilliance.
The cloud flames that he'd feed her were always so yummy and pure! Sometimes he'd indulge her by petting her gently and rolling her around the table absentmindedly when he's working at his desk. It was just his way of playing around with Roll who was bored and wanting attention.
Hibird was always content by just perching on Hibari's shoulder or nestling into his hair.
It was a surprise that he was willing to do such things for his animal companions. He truly carried more favors for animals than he did to those of his own species. How sad.
"What about now?" Roll asked with a head tilt.
Confused, Haru blinked a few times and tilted her head as well, hoping that she'd get an explanation.
"You said you need more time. You love master now?"
Haru saw blackness.
These two were really out to attack her relentlessly until she would 'love' Hibari. Would they cry if she said she didn't love him, and that she'd need way more time than they were willing to give her?
She didn't think that they'd cry, but surely they would riot. It was only one time but she has seen the way that Roll lashes out if she accidentally happens to hurt her master, Hibari.
He got upset with something and fed her too many cloud flames and poor Roll was intoxicated. She couldn't control her needles, and pierced Hibari with them.
She went crazy and started multiplying like crazy!
Of course… she wouldn't do that, right? They were on the rooftop. Even with her gymnastic skills, falling from the roof was still a risky business plan.
Maybe… she could just sneakily… message Tsuna and ask that he whisks her away if she did happen to fall.
'UWAHH! Th-this is criminal!' Haru quickly had to hold a hand over her eyes to cast a shadow over them. These two were using puppy dog eyes against her! 'You both are a hedgehog and a bird! It's illegal for you to be using poppy dog eyes against Haru!' She protested mentally.
They were so cute!
It seemed that Hibari had the same sentiment as he raised his hands and patted them both on the heads wordlessly.
Freezing up for the briefest of moments, the two launched themselves onto Hibari and hugged him tightly. It was so cute to see how much they loved Hibari.
Haru found herself smiling to herself at the cute display of the two young girls loving their precious Hibari.
"It looks like no matter what, Haru may never match your love for Hibari-san." She giggled.
"Roll/Hibird loves Hibari/Master a lot!" The two of them cheered in unison, making Hibari's ears ring from how high their voices were.
He wanted his furry and feathery companions back to the way they were previously.
With another smile, Haru looked to Hibari who had a ghastly look on his face. These two were starting to really get under his skin in their human forms. "They're both cute, don't you think? Ehehe…" Haru laughed nervously.
"…" Hibari didn't say anything, but he did give her a glare.
She was going to take that response as a 'no'.
Weird, since they were absolutely adorable. Though she could see why he'd think otherwise. He didn't really like it when a lot of people would crowd around him and he didn't seem to like it when people touched him either.
"Well, I'm sure they'll go back to the way they were originally. It would probably be more convenient that way. I'm just sorry that I let this happen to them, Hibari-san." Haru bowed her head apologetically that she allowed for Giannini to do this to them without her supervision.
They were just lucky that the two of them gained human forms rather than something more dastardly happening to them.
"Kyouya. Just call me Kyouya." Hibari mindlessly suggested to her as he was petting the top of Roll's head gently.
Haru was shocked by this suggestion of his since it was a show of closeness if she were to start referring to him by his first name. It was such a jump from referring to him with his last name with a 'san' and then going straight to his first name.
They weren't even that close for her to be doing such things. Having said that, she didn't quite feel like it was in her best interests to decline his suggestion either.
Especially with the two girls staring at her. Give it up Haru. You were going to have to agree to this one.
Slumping her shoulders in defeat, "If you insist, I'll be referring to you as Kyouya-san then…"
With a curt head nod, he went back to paying attention to Hibird and Roll.
Even as he paid attention to them he didn't forget to pat her head once as well.
Shocked, Haru tensed up when she felt pressure on the top of her head. 'Kyouya-san had never touched me before. Is this a sign that he trusts me, or is comfortable enough around me to do this?' She found herself questioning his motives behind his actions but eventually chose to just dismiss it as he was busy paying attention to the other two.
An odd feeling, but she felt a bit of loneliness as she saw that he was putting all of his attention to the younger girls.
Why was it that she somehow wanted him to look in her direction as well?
POOF!
A small smog of smoke popped out of nowhere, and once it cleared, Hibird and Roll were back in their original forms!
"Hahi! They're back to normal again!" Haru felt relieved to know that it only took about 3 hours for them to return to normal.
She didn't want to think about what would have happened if all of the animals changed and that they'd stay that way forever.
Wait a minute…
Why weren't the other animals changed?
Did Giannini only test out using only these two?
Did whatever he bring effect other animals at different rates? What did he even use? Was there anything left over from when he changed Roll and Hibird?
No… the other animals didn't change as well, did they?
Was she going to have to return home to a bunch of other naked animals!?
"Hi-Hibari-san, Haru needs to go back home quickly. She realized that she needs to check something back at home really quick." Haru stammered quickly, almost too quickly that she came close to biting her tongue.
With his back turned to her, he was ignoring her, while petting the once again cute animal companions. Maybe he didn't hear her because he was focusing on the cute animals?
"Hibari-san?" She called out for him once more, briefly forgetting their agreement from the haste of needing to return home. It was no use. He wasn't listening to her. Did he like his animal companions that much that he was off in another world?
Sensing something different going on between Hibari and Haru, Hibird wiggled out of Hibari's hand to hop towards Haru. "Haru say Hibari?"
With these words, Haru recalled what they both previously agreed on.
Was he intentionally ignoring her because she wasn't calling him by his first name? That was somewhat childish, but also… somehow… cute?
Didn't think he'd have that side to him.
"Kyouya-san?" She called out once more, while trying to steal a peak at his face.
"What is it?" He turned around to look back at her with a bored expression.
The mere fact that he was paying attention to her now surprised her. She didn't think that he'd really start paying attention to her again just because she referred to him by his given name.
How… cute.
Keeping these dangerous thoughts to herself, she felt it difficult to keep the corners of her lips down at his display of immaturity. "Haru needs to go back home quickly to check up on the other animals. Would it be okay if Haru returned home with these two now?" She asked.
Recalling that he hadn't heard the end school chime yet he knew that classes were still in session.
He couldn't leave the school premises to walk her home.
Yeah yeah, sure, you can argue that as a student he shouldn't be skipping classes to sleep.
Hibari will have you know that he has excellent grades and sitting in a room crowded with herbivorous people was far beneath him.
He had people to go to classes for him in his place. Why did he need to go in person?
He wasn't the most proper student, but he did abide by more important rules that detailed the student dress code or when a student is allowed off school grounds.
"You may go, but be careful." Hibari instructed as he handed little Roll back over to Haru.
Hibird flew on top of Haru's head and nestled in.
"Okay Roll, Hibird-chan, say bye bye to Kyouya-san." Haru giggled.
With a few flaps of her wings, Hibird waved her goodbyes to Hibari as Roll cried out her farewells, "Gupyiii!~"
With a small bow of the head, Haru turned to run back home to make sure that the other animals were okay.
Even though her day was rather chaotic, she had an enjoyable time.
To think she'd get to see a side no one has seen of Hibari before.
Can she feel special about that? Perhaps she can.
[1] Just in case no one saw it, this scene I made mention to is from the KHR OVA. Good stuff, I'm telling you.
Hope you enjoyed this one!
I'm sure we all expected for me to eventually write a chapter where they are in human form. Ahahaha
Classic tropes ftw.
