Magnus walked back of Mr. Gold's shop, greeted Belle then continued to the back. He smelled something terrible, sniffing in the air, "what's that smell?"
Mr. Gold was working on pasting lanolin on the cloth, "this is lanolin. Used for waterproofing."
"It smells like livestock."
"Well, it's the reason why sheep's wool repels water."
"It's fucking stinks," Magnus wanted to hurry and get out of here, "you called the sheriff's department if you want to talk or maybe outside?"
Mr. Gold got up from the table and walking to the front, "I wanted to express my condolences, really." Magnus inhaled again, fourth or tenth time someone … then he continued, "he was a good sheriff. You're still wearing deputy badge." Magnus didn't think he would be automatically become Sheriff, touches his deputy badge as Mr. Gold pointed out that it has been two weeks acting Sheriff then the job is his. "You'll have to wear the real badge."
"Well, I guess I'm not in a hurry," he didn't want to get into this and stand the awful smell, "thank you for the kind words."
Magnus turned when he heard that Mr. Gold has his things, "what?"
"The Sheriff. He rented the apartment that I own," pointed out the box on the front, "another reason for the call. I wanted to offer you a keepsake."
"I don't need anything."
"As you wish," Mr. Gold announces that this box will be given to Mayor Mills. She was the closest thing he had to family.
"I am not sure about that," Magnus doesn't believe she has the best for the Sheriff. She killed her, and he knows it. She didn't take him to the hospital or have a look at. I checked with the hospital and ask inquiries regarding the Sheriff.
"You should take something, "showing him his black leather jacket, but he declined then a walkie talkie, "your boy might like these, don't you think?"
"You can play together."
Magnus honesty didn't want to take anything of his, to have a good man's memories, no, he doesn't want to, but Mr. Gold tries to convince him to take something, "no, please. They grow up so fast."
Magnus finally gave in and took two walkie talkies, "thanks."
"You enjoy these with your boy."
Henry felt defeated and little lost, but worried about Magnus getting hurt. Henry sat at the park when Magnus found him as usual near the port. He gave him one of the walkie talkies, "brought you something." He thought he can use it for Operation Cobra and Henry gave it back, "thanks."
"What's up? You've been ducking me for weeks."
Henry wanted to stop Operation Cobra for a while, "you don't play with the curse. Look what happened to Graham." He didn't want anything happen to mom and Magnus.
"I told you, Henry. They did an autopsy and its totally natural causes," a simple case of heart attack."
Henry was glad to know that he still doesn't believe, "that keeps you from messing with it and getting killed."
Magnus was puzzled by this, but sincerely worried for the boy, "you're worried about me?"
"Cora killed Graham because he was good … and you're good."
"Henry …," Cora is dead and there's no way possible that Cora killed him, and Henry kept on, "good loses. Good always loses because good plays fair, but evil doesn't." Henry let go of the walkie talkie and left the park.
Magnus put down his deputy down on his desk then thought of what Mr. Gold has previously said as he picked up the Sheriff's badge on his red leather jacket. Regina stopped him, "I'm sorry but that's not for you."
What's the fuck? "It's been two weeks. Promotion is automatic."
A college student becomes a Sheriff, no I do not think so. "Unless a Mayor appoints someone else within a time period which is today." I am doing this for you, Emma. Please do not take this the wrong way.
"So, who's it going to be?"
"After due reflection, David Nolan."
"David? What about his pet shelter?"
That doesn't make sense, but from what I remember "he never worked here."
"He has, actually. He usually substitutes the Sheriff whenever necessary."
"And he'll do whatever the fuck you want, is that right?"
Regina held her tongue when he wanted to smack him for insulting her and listened what he has to say, "you cannot stand the fact that things are getting better around you."
"Better?" Regina snared at him, "you referring to Graham's death as better?" Emma is nowhere to be found, the love of my life. How is it better? "He was a good man, Mr. Magnus. He kept his town safe." I'm sorry Emma, mentally apologizes to her, "I'm sorry to say this, but you haven't earned the right to wear his badge."
"Graham picked me to be the Deputy," stating the fact, "he freed this office from your leash."
Regina ignores him and picks up the Sheriff's badge then left the office. Yet again, he's wrong. Why am I the Evil Queen? All I wanted was to help to break the curse and to get Magnus to believe. Worse of all, my son lost his faith in the good. What can I do to help my son that the good can win?
Magnus made sure David and Mary stayed out tonight so he can listen to loud music and drink hard whiskey while smooching two girls. It's nearly half empty as they walked up the stairs, quickly grabbing two whiskeys while watching them taking off their clothes in their bedroom. I need to fuck something and break something, grabbing two women in my arms as they all over him.
He didn't want to think about Regina and how she's pissing him off. She wanted to control the town and treat people as puppets. I deserve to be the Sheriff and I was a good cop. That's my fucking job and people respected me for it. I never knew how passionate I am about this until today, that's one thing I wanted when I come to Storybrooke. I wanted to get a degree in law enforcement and criminal justice, that's one thing I wanted and needed in life. I grabbed the women hard to make them scream by the hair and kissing everywhere on their bodies and watching them doing it together. Fuck it, fingering both of them and fucking them all night long.
Magnus sworn that he has heard a knock in wee hours, eyes blurry and completely still drunk. What's the fuck happened? I looked to two women and three bottles of hard whiskey on the floor, oh shit. Who are they? I don't remember them being here, did I call them? I looked for my iPhone, "where's my phone?"
I heard the knock again at my door, "Magnus, wake up! You're requested downstairs."
Great, groans on the bed, "all right. I'm coming." He heavily sighs and smacks their ass to wake them up and puts on his underwear, not caring that he isn't dressed up. He's not in the mood for visitors as he walked downstairs, "fucking shit," it's Mr. Gold and walks back upstairs. Why can't the fuck he leave me alone?
"Mr. Magnus, can I please have a word with you?"
He rolls his eyes and sighs again, "come on in."
"Thank you," he was carrying a huge binder in his right arm, "I heard what happened."
"Yeah well, done is done," It didn't sound like a true fighter, "I don't know what chance I have." She's the fucking Mayor and I'm me, the shithole.
"Mr. Magnus, two people with a common goal can accomplish many things," offering himself as a benefactor, "do you mind?" Mr. Gold wanted to set the binder on the dining table, and he nodded, sure why not. He didn't understand why Mr. Gold is helping him, what is his agendas here. What does he get out of this?
"Town Charter?" He studied town charter whatever that is, and it turns out that Mayor Mills is not all that powerful, Magnus smirked. I'm gonna fucking get her if it's the last thing I do.
Regina and David Nolan were taking pictures and giving news to the reporters and cameras. Regina speaks to the camera and the reporters that everyone deserves to feel safe in their homes. "That's why David Nolan is my choice for post of sheriff. This man has put the needs of Storybrooke above his own as long as anyone could remember. Please welcome your new Sheriff," about to pin the Sheriff's badge on his suit.
Magnus announced to stop Regina, "hold on a second!"
"Mr. Magnus, this is not appropriate."
Magnus walked in proudly into the office, "the only thing is not appropriate is this ceremony. She does not have the power to appoint him."
"The town charter clearly states …"
"Candidate, Mayor Mills. You can appoint candidate. It calls forth an election."
Father and daughter fighting for the Sheriff, I don't think this ever happens, not even at Enchanted Forest. The heir is handed down the crown upon of old age or sickness. Regina couldn't help but feel proud of his effort to fight for his stand. She gave him a look while he continued, "it requires a vote, and guess what, Madam Mayor, I'm running."
"Fine, so is David Nolan," she beams proudly and tilted to David, "with my full support."
"I guess we all can learn something from this, about the will of the people," Magnus and Regina are head-to-head then Regina shot him a look once again.
Regina wanted to make sure Mr. Gold leaves Magnus alone, she didn't want anyone tempting him or misguiding him. She visited Mr. Gold in his shop, "you found the loophole in the town's charter."
Mr. Gold enjoys the little chats of theirs, "documents and contracts, if you like. It always has been fascination of mine."
Regina thought carefully, "yes, you love to trifle with technicalities."
Mr. Gold points out that he likes small weapon, a needle and the pen that makes the fine point of the deal. "you're the bastard," Regina now knows that he knows his true identity.
"I think your grief is getting better of you, Regina."
Is he really going up against me after all I truly don't think we are invested in the common good, Magnus, "we're just picking a different side."
Regina didn't think he knows anything, does he really don't know. I am on Magnus side, of course, "stay away from Magnus!"
"Never underestimate someone who is acting for his child."
He's planning something, it can't be good.
Magnus decided to try again with Henry, sat across from him on the table. "How was school?"
"Okay," Henry looked at the paper really hard and looks disappointed then showed him the newspaper with him at the front page, "Sidney wrote it."
His eyes widen in surprise, and pissed off, "no, no," ex-jailbird, women and booze.
Henry questioned him about jail, "why were you in jail?"
"Yes, I was in jail," but these records were supposed to be sealed. His adoptive parents made sure of it, it was tight locked, and no one could access those records. "Tell me you're not scarred for life."
"I'm not," Henry looked up to him, "well, not by this." Magnus wanted to find information to win election against David, but Henry doesn't want to, "good cannot beat evil because good doesn't do this kind of thing."
"I have a good ally. Mr. Gold says he's going to help."
"Mr. Gold?! He's even worse than Evil Queen," Henry doesn't want to take part of this, "you owe him one favor, but you don't want owe him anymore." Henry doesn't want him to fight, "don't do this, please."
"This is fucking juvie record," Magnus waved the newspaper to Mayor Mills in her office, "this was sealed by court order. I don't know how you got it but that's abuse of power and illegal."
I didn't do this and I'm taking care of it as I speak. I would never do this and to upset Henry. "I'm sorry and you don't want people to know your time in prison?"
"I do not care what people know but that hurts Henry." Henry doesn't need to lose any more hope and faith in heroes and the good can win. "He's depressed, Madam Mayor. Don't you see that?" Regina walked out of the office and there's nothing she could say to make him believe in the truth, but he believes in Henry. Magnus followed her from behind, trying to get Regina to stop doing whatever she's doing that causes harm to Henry. "All he learnt was the truth. As for legality, I did nothing wrong." Regina reminded him about the debate, "you and David will have a chance to get into all that at the debate."
"Debate?" I honesty had no idea there's a debate, no one warns me this.
"Yes, Mr. Magnus, there's a debate."
Magnus rolls his eyes at Mayor Mills and her smirks and pride and joy while listening her, "and maybe your association with Mr. Gold. He's a snake, Mr. Magnus and you need to be careful who you get into bed with."
The fire blew the moment Regina opens the door and she couldn't move when the equipment hits her legs. Magnus needed something to help her out when he looks upstairs, and Regina reached out her arms to him, "you have to help me out. Help me." Magnus felt the need to protect her but doesn't want her to be caught in fire, so he jumped over the fire. Regina became shocked that Magnus would do such a thing, and it broke her.
Magnus returns while taking the fire out and helped Regina outside, helped carrying her. Everyone arrived at the scene and nearly everyone was questioning Magnus and his hero moment of rescuing Mayor Mills. Regina was trying to breathe in the firetruck, but Henry ran to Magnus, "you saved her!" Magnus kneels front of Henry with a smile, "this is how good wins," that is until he saw a rope on the ground, a sheep's wool that he saw in Mr. Gold's shop.
He waited until Henry went to bed to check on Regina when he parked front of her house. He knew Mr. Gold was in from the beginning, everyone loves a hero, and he knew it'll work. Magnus remembered the number she gave it to him few weeks ago, dialed her number.
Regina picked up the phone but didn't say a word yet. I can hear her breathing, "I'm sorry I scared you for a moment there." I looked outside from my car to see if Regina peaked through the window; unfortunately, I don't see her face yet. "Regina? Please." There was only two words was her invitation to her house then hanged up.
Seeing Magnus leaving me in the fire on the stairs broke me, and I never thought he would do this to me. Emma was my Savior, and Emma has always protected me no matter the costs. Even she tried to … before we were formally introduced, she still wouldn't do it, not because of the town but her fascination of me. She even drew a picture of me, several of them with her magic before we were introduced. I know he come back but it doesn't help with my heart, he scares the hell out of me even more than Emmett. He's not Emma-Emmett, I don't know how to get him to believe in me and the truth of magic when he's so different than the person I knew.
I sat in the office after I put Henry to sleep, and I couldn't do any work. I just sat in daze deep in thought with wonder what to do with Magnus and Henry's hope in the good. What happens when the curse breaks? Will Emma return or is she still trapped somewhere, Regina inhales once again. Cora's lawyer visited me few days ago and everything she owns is mine; however, all except one. He wouldn't say what it is, but this one item was given to someone else. I have to know what this is, what is Cora hiding from me.
My thoughts were pulled from me when my personal cellphone was ringing, so I picked it up and its no other Magnus, my Magnus. I have no voice in me when I answered the call. He apologizes and begs to see me. I peeked through the window from my office to see if Magnus' yellow beetle outside. I see him watching the house in the car and waiting for me to answer. Emma, please, give me strength that I need to get through him. Please don't leave me, she finally replied, "come in," than hanged up.
Regina opened the front door and I walked in, I don't know what to say except to show her the sheep's wool. "What's this?" Regina questioned and took the wool from my hand. "Mr. Gold set the fire," explaining his belief how Mr. Gold started the fire.
"I thought he would do something like this. He's trying to do something big for you in order to win the election tomorrow," Regina sniffs the wool to confirm.
"So, he's trying to get me to look like a hero?"
"No, he's one person that this town fears, more than me, in fact."
"I don't understand," he sat on the couch in her office for privacy. Regina kept the fire going and sat on the other side of the couch. Regina stopped and looked at my face, I whispered, "what?" I watched Regina got up again and left the office, but I stayed to wait for few moments to see what's going on. She returns with wet cloth in her hand, and helped to clean my face, "you didn't clean your face?"
"Oh," I didn't realize the dirt and fire was still all over my face as I tried to wipe it off. Regina continued cleaning for me. "I didn't have the chance. I wanted to go straight Mr. Gold's shop to give piece of my mind."
"Listen, Regina," he took my hand and stopped me from cleaning his face. I gave him a small smile and nod at him, "I'm sorry, okay. I know you didn't do it." He's speaking of the record and that day about Graham. "Sidney Glass did it to impress me. He was trying to make a name for himself."
Oh, I see where this going, "he's in love with you, isn't he?"
I changed the subject to try to savage our relationship, it has been hard and strain between us, "I am assuming you're not here for Mr. Gold, so what is it?"
Should I tell her about my time in prison? Will she truly help me or would she do something behind my back. I saw my photo shot on her desk, so I got up and looked at it, "I never wanted Henry to know. I escaped from my adoptive parents to be with Bae, and I hated living with them, but they were nice parents."
Magnus sat down next to me, throwing the newspaper at the fire, this Bae must've done a number on him, "what happened to him?"
"Bae is short for Saffire. She never liked her name, so she had everyone to call her Bae instead. We were going to Tennessee to settle down and get married. One day, she let me take the fall for the stolen watches when we got caught and I never saw her again."
I am to assume that her adoptive parents got her on bail and protected him from lawyers than brought him home to complete high school. I've never seen Emma heartbroken before, and now I understand what made him so hard. He's been on the streets and living on his own with this Bae until his adoptive parents brought him back home. He was never same after being in prison then all the women and booze, just to avoid his feelings. I gently touched side of his face and he closes his eyes, "I'm so sorry," peck a kiss on his cheek.
I loved the feeling of the fire when she kissed on my check. That's when I realized she was the one who did my laundry and cleaned my room very week, "you did it."
"What did I do?" smiles innocently, but fully knowing what he meant. I played along, "what is it you think that I do?"
"I don't ...," oh fuck, why is it this so hard, "I'm not … oh fuck," furiously got up, "you know what, forget it." I can't do this, I don't know how to do this or what am I supposed to do.
He's lost for words and doesn't know where to start. I held his hand to stop him from leaving the office. I needed say something before he leaves, I know he's angry at himself. "David Nolan, have you talked to him since you both decided to run against each other?"
I shook my head, "not lately. He's been busy doing 'jack of all trades,' to win their votes. Why?"
"He made a deal with me about you."
"What do you mean?"
"He wanted to help you and he requested your scholarship to be reinstate if he wins the election in hopes you'll be the Sheriff when you're ready."
I had no idea he's been working on this, "why the fuck he does such a thing? I didn't ask him to do this!" Why does he care so much, and I want nothing to do with him or his newly wife, Mary Margaret.
"I imagine he is trying to start taking care of this town and he knew how much this scholarship means to you, so this isn't charity."
"It's not?"
He seems more calmer now and decided to sit back down on the couch. He shook his hair and indecisive about what to do next. I watched him losing himself again when he whispers, "oh fuck." I gently touched his shoulder and he jumped angrily at me, shot me a look. Seconds later, he calms down when I spoke, "it's okay, honey," while running my fingers through his hair.
"Thank you," preparing myself to leave. I will need a good night sleep for the election tomorrow, "big day tomorrow."
"You're in no condition to drive, Magnus. You can sleep in the guest room," smiles when he follows me upstairs. I showed him the bathroom for him to take a shower. He pulls me into his arms and deepens the kiss, I moans when I presses my lips on his. "Good night, Charles."
David and Mary Margaret enjoying their morning posting on the board at the Town Hall, both Magnus and David. David wanted to help Magnus and Mary was worried for him, "how's Magnus?" David doesn't know and believes he has been avoiding him, "I'm hoping to meet him later before the debate." Mary Margaret and David enjoying their morning together before the debate.
At the theater, David haven't yet talked with Magnus much to his disappointment while fixing his suit and putting on a tie. Mary Margaret rushes over to him to help him put on the tie. She spotted Magnus looking through the curtains, gives her husband a kiss, "I'll be back."
Henry waved at Magnus with pride when Mary approaches him with water, "Magnus?"
Magnus thanks her, "I'm not going to win."
"What are you talking about? Everyone is talking about what you did in the fire."
"No, I can't … I am not in position to be the Sheriff. I can't fight the way Mr. Gold fights and Henry … is midst of all this," drinking water out of the bottle.
"Is this about beating Regina or what is it?"
Magnus sighs and looks through the curtain again, smiles when he sees Regina sitting next to him, "I just want to show him that the good can actually win."
"Why do you want to win the election for yourself?"
"I want to show him that the hero can win. If I'm not the hero and I'm not the Savior, then what do I have in his life?"
Mary smiles when he hits his relation for Henry and Regina, "there it is" just as he peeked through and sees Mr. Gold walking in and shot him a look. Magnus was nervous and deciding what the best decision, back down or go ahead. What does a true hero mean? David did well, giving his pride and joy, but also his love for this town. I looked between Regina and Henry when everyone is clapping at David.
Archie announced, "And Charles Magnus," extending the arm to Magnus to approach the platform. Everyone knows about his troubled past, but everyone overlooks it because of a hero thing. He braces himself to tell everyone the truth, "here's the thing, the fire is a setup. Mr. Gold agrees to support me in the race, but I didn't know that meant he's going to set a fire. I do not have definitive evidence," he looks at Henry then Regina. Regina nods and encourages him to go on and that he can do it, for Henry. "I am sure of it. Worst of all this, I let you all think it's real. I can't win this way. And I'm sorry." He remembered David and how hard he works to protect this town, and so he begins talking about him. He believes he deserves to be the Sheriff. He's an honest man, probably the most honest he ever met and most loyal to his wife and this town.
Magnus nurses himself a drink at Granny's and Ruby offered him another drink. He heard the bell and tilted his head, saw its Henry, "hey, Henry." He was surprised that he gave him one of the walkie talkies, "what's this for?"
"You stood up to Mr. Gold," he was amazed with his confidence and trying to do what's right, but for him but for himself as well. It's what heroes do, "heroes exposed stuff like that." He leans in and whispers to him, "I shouldn't have given up Operation Cobra."
Regina knew he'll be at the diner when he walks in, following Henry to the diner, "I thought I might find you here." She was disappointed that he was nursing himself a drink, "with a drink." David sat with Magnus to join him, "I thought you'll be in the back room for the victory party?"
"I am, here with you."
Magnus' eyes crossed when Regina shows him the Sheriff's badge, "congratulations, Sheriff Magnus."
Magnus' eyes widen and Henry questioned the same he's thinking, "wait, what?"
"It's part of the deal, temporary acting Sheriff until you return to the university to earn your place, but in fact, people liked the idea of a Sheriff brave enough to stand up to Mr. Gold."
"Are you fucking joking?"
David beams in pride, "she doesn't joke," when everyone in town arrives in Granny's. Regina leans in to warn him about Mr. Gold, "you didn't pick a great friend in Mr. Gold, Mr. Magnus. He does make a superlative enemy," Regina flashed him a smile, "enjoy that."
Magnus doesn't know what to make of this but remembered the deal, so he turns to David, "what was the deal she was talking about?"
"I only agreed to be the Sheriff until you come back. I knew you weren't equally qualified to become a Sheriff, so I told her that I will only agree if she helps you get your scholarship reinstated and work as an acting Sheriff," shows him his own real Sheriff's badge, "I got mine and you got yours."
"So, we're working together?"
"You're buying," slaps his back when everyone cheering, "drinks all around."
