"Buried Secrets 3"

Chapter 12

Bella sat down and looked at Silas as he moved to take a seat across from her.

"Wish you would have called," Bella said, "I would have thrown you one hell of a welcoming party."

Silas chuckled, "I'm sure you would have. Would you like something to drink?"

"I'm good thanks." Bella said, "So what do you want Silas? I mean you got me here, so what now?"

"I merely wanted to talk Isabella." Silas said, "Unlike Niklaus I do not go back on my word."

"So what do you want?" Bella asked.

"To give you all the facts and allow you to make an informed decision." Silas replied. "Isabella I want to give you what you've always wanted…freedom."

"So me dying is my freedom?" Bella scoffed at the thought.

"The Hunters and my followers know what I want them to know." Silas replied, "It doesn't mean that it's what will happen."

"So you are lying to them, but you aren't going to lie to me." Bella said before laughing, "I don't buy it."

"Isabella I want your cooperation." Silas said calmly, "I want you to do this with me. I am offering you freedom from Niklaus. I will get rid of him." Bella glared at him and Silas sighed, deciding to take a new route, "Do you know why I need your blood?"

"Because I have the four blood origins or something," Bella said dismissively.

Silas chuckled, "Your blood is unique, pure. Vampires were created while werewolves granted are born, but they are also created by activating the gene. You are the first born vampire-werewolf. Witches were created and humans were created as well. You come from them all…you were born to them all."

"I'm not a witch." Bella said.

Silas smirked, "But you are…your powers are just merely untapped." He said dismissively, "Why do you think you can compel Originals? Hunters? Witches? That is your witch side."

Bella tensed.

"Connor told you Isabella that we are connected. We always have been because our fates are intertwined. I just want a world of peace." Silas started.

"Where you rule," Bella snapped.

"Someone has to so why should it not be me?" Silas questioned. "You could be by my side. You know these times better than I. Think of it as the old world and the new one merging to form a new beginning." Silas' excitement grew, "No more hiding Isabella, no more running… you could be free. You would never have to look over your shoulder."

"You forget I'm taken," Bella replied.

"I have seen you pushing him away." Silas said, "You are like me Isabella. We don't need people like them."

"Everyone's expendable right." Bella said, "You are like Klaus."

Silas flexed his fists, "No I am not." He replied, "Isabella I am giving you the chance to join me. Your friends and even your Damon could live free. You could even compel them to forget you to protect them. All I want Isabella is you on my side."

Bella let out a sharp harsh laugh, "You know Silas all I've heard is I'm basically going to be trading in one set of chains for another set, only more shiny." She said and stood up, "I won't do it Silas. When a tyrant wants to rule he spins a story like you did so that on the surface it's intriguing, but underneath it's nothing more than hollow crap all designed so you can have the power you crave." She leaned on the chair arms and stared Silas down. "I won't go willingly."

Bella turned around and headed for the door.

"A word of warning before you go," Silas called out and Bella stopped, "You should let them go because as long as you have them around you Isabella, I can reach out and break you anytime I want."

Bella turned around and gave him a dark smile, "Klaus has tried several times to break me and he hasn't. I'm unbreakable."

"Everyone breaks," Silas replied smirking, "It's just about finding the right trigger."

Bella glared and walked out of the room and then she quickly ran back towards the mansion. She walked in and poured a stiff drink before she sat down.

"Late nights?" Elijah asked coming in.

"What do you want Elijah?" Bella asked before she took a sip.

"I take it that's your handy work on Marcel's guys," Elijah said, ignoring her, "He won't be too happy."

"Do you think I care?" Bella asked.

"Yes I think you do care though only about certain things." Elijah replied and sat down.

Bella tensed.

"I see I am right." Elijah said, "Your muscles contract when I hit a nerve. Where did you go?"

Bella sighed, "I got an invitation I couldn't refuse."

"Silas," Elijah said knowingly.

"You know the guy. What is the scoop?" Bella asked.

"He's power hungry." Elijah replied simply.

"So is your brother." Bella countered.

"Silas is different." Elijah said, "He doesn't care."

"Neither does Klaus." Bella replied.

"That's where you are wrong." Elijah said, "He does now."

"You expect me to think he's had a change of heart after a few months in a coffin." Bella scoffed.

"Stranger things have happened." Elijah said. "What did you and Silas discuss?"

Bella didn't respond. Should she tell him? Could she trust him? Elijah had never betrayed her before…especially if he gave his word.

"Did you compel the Hunter?" Elijah asked, surprising Bella.

"What?" Bella asked.

"Did you really compel the Hunter in the basement?" Elijah repeated.

"Yes," Bella said.

"I've never heard of that being done." Elijah said while trying to keep his surprise to a minimum. "You know why Silas wants you."

"So do you," Bella said, "You overheard Connor and I talking."

"Yes, I know it's because of your blood, but I don't think the story I heard is the real one." Elijah said. "You went to see him didn't you?"

Bella sighed, "If you know all the answers Elijah then why keep asking the questions?"

"Did you find the answers you wanted?" Elijah asked, ignoring her again.

"Even if I did, I wouldn't tell you." Bella said and stood up.

"The path you're walking Isabella is a lonely one." Elijah said, "Ask Klaus. He knows all about it."

"Sometimes it's better to be alone." Bella said, "When you're alone no one can hurt you. No one can force you to do what you don't want."

"Is that why you are pushing them all away," Elijah asked, "To protect them? I hate to break it to you Isabella, but it won't work. You care too much."

"It's a weakness," Bella ground out.

"No it's not," Rebekah said, "It's a strength."

"Rebekah," Elijah stood up.

"Give us a moment would you brother?" Rebekah asked.

Elijah nodded and left.

"Come to lecture me as well Auntie?" Bella snapped.

"Do you know what separates you from us?" Rebekah asked.

Bella was silent.

"I asked myself that question many times," Rebekah said and sat down. "I finally found the answer recently."

"Enlighten me," Bella said, turning to face her.

"We have been around for centuries. We were at the hands of a tyrant. We were broken. Centuries later, each of us is still broken. Klaus with his paranoia, Kol who refuses to acknowledge the truth of what our parents did to us, me with my fear of abandonment, and poor Elijah dedicates himself to everyone, but himself. You see Bella, we are the strongest creatures in the world and yet we are damaged beyond repair. We live without hope and yet we will never die. We are the definition of cursed…always and forever." Rebekah said.

"You forget I'm right there with you." Bella said.

"No you aren't," Rebekah replied, "You still carry hope. You are still fighting to protect those you love. You are willing to lose them if that means they live. You are far from cursed, but if you continue down this path you will end up like us. The damage is irreversible. For the rest of eternity each of us will always be broken."

"Klaus has broken me," Bella growled.

"No he hasn't," Rebekah said "If he had you wouldn't be here fighting for everyone you love. You are not broken Bella…you are the strongest of us all. You are the luckiest of us all. You had a father that loved you, that will do anything for you. You have friends, you have a love that is indescribable and yet you push them away in fear. Our fears make us weak Bella. Do not allow anyone to use your fears against you. If you allow them that then they control you."

"You don't know me Rebekah," Bella said angrily, "None of you do."

"No I never claimed that we knew you, but I do see you Bella," Rebekah explained before she stood up, "Do not make the mistakes that Klaus, myself, Kol, and Elijah have made. Do not keep repeating the cycle that we started."

Rebekah left Bella, leaving her to sit in silence. Bella downed a few drinks, before once again she was interrupted.

"What do you want?" Bella growled.

"What were you thinking?" Klaus asked, "Do you want to die?"

"Would save you the trouble," Bella snapped.

"I do not want you dead." Klaus stated.

"No you just want me in chains," Bella replied.

"No I want to see you free." Klaus said, "I want to see you live."

Bella laughed darkly.

"It's the truth whether you believe it or not." Klaus argued before he sat down. "What did Silas want?"

"What you all want," Bella growled, "Me standing by him. He offered to get rid of you for me."

Klaus tensed.

Bella leaned back and rolled her eyes, "Please, I didn't take him up on the offer."

"But you thought about it." Klaus said.

"No I didn't," Bella snapped, "Killing you kills the others." Bella said, "I won't do that no matter how much I despise you. Your death is not worth so many other lives being lost as well."

Klaus nodded. "You have always amazed me. For the longest time I thought it was because you could be my weapon, but that's not it." Klaus said, "You have a fire in you Isabella. A fire that burns brighter than anything I've ever seen. You will do anything, be anything, and sacrifice anything including your own life if it means keeping the ones you love safe. I have never seen anything like that in all my thousand years." Klaus paused, "No I take that back, I have seen it once before and that was with your mother."

Bella tensed.

"She loved you so much and you weren't even here yet." Klaus continued. "I coveted you for my own selfish reasons. Then one night I walked into her room and I placed my hand on her stomach and you kicked me." Klaus smiled, "I felt so strange I was amazed how much strength you already had, but I was also enamored and at the time I didn't know why." Klaus looked at Bella, "I know why now."

"I don't care," Bella quickly stood up, "I don't care what you know. I don't care what you think. I don't care Klaus!" Bella yelled, "Stay away from me." She snapped before she disappeared up the stairs.

Bella slammed the door to her room and collapsed on the bed.

.*.*.*.*.*.

Klaus stayed seated after Bella left, feeling a pain crushing his chest.

"She's stubborn," Charlie said from the door way.

"She's angry," Klaus stated.

"Can't blame her," Charlie said, "You caused that anger."

"Then how do I make it go away?" Klaus asked as Charlie sat down, "I see her changing into me."

"Don't like what you see mirrored back at you?" Charlie asked. "She won't ever trust you. You will never be a part of her life."

"I just want her to have a life." Klaus growled in frustration. "Does it ever end?" Klaus asked suddenly.

"The worrying" Charlie said knowing what Klaus meant, "No…once it comes it never goes away."

Klaus sighed, "How did you do it?"

Charlie looked at him, "Do what?"

"Raise such an incredible girl?" Klaus asked.

"I wish I could take the credit. While I don't like to admit it Klaus but she is like you." Charlie said and Klaus looked away, "Not in a bad way though."

"What do you mean?" Klaus asked.

"She's a survivor, you're a survivor. She gets that from you. She also gets her drive from you too. Once you both lock in on something you want, you don't let up." Charlie said. "You don't know how much I hate to admit it, but you need to know that."

"Why?" Klaus asked.

"Because you know her…you know what's going on with her while none of us do. None of us have felt like this. Only you have. You can help her Klaus." Charlie stated.

"She won't let me," Klaus replied.

"When has that ever stopped you?" Charlie asked.

Klaus chuckled.

"I never thought I'd be here, sitting across from you, talking about how you can help her. I never wanted you near her, but now I know you might be her only lifeline." Charlie said.

The Original shook his head, "No I'm not," Klaus said, "Damon is. He's her lifeline. As are you."

Charlie shook his head, "No Klaus. She needs understanding and he can't give that to her I can't give her that. We can't understand the anger she has inside of her towards her father, but you can. You've felt it and only you can help her."

"She won't allow me to save her." Klaus replied.

"She doesn't need saving Klaus, she never has," Charlie replied, "She needs the chance to face her past like you have. She's fully capable of saving herself, but she needs you to do it."

Klaus looked at Charlie, "Thank you," he said, "For all you did for her."

"She's my daughter," Charlie said, "Blood or not, she's mine. I would move heaven and hell to make sure she had what she wanted."

Klaus nodded and Charlie left the room.

Klaus didn't argue with Charlie. He was right; Bella was his daughter and he deserved her more than Klaus did. He did wonder though if Charlie was right…was he the one Bella needed?

.*.*.*.*.*.

Bella looked around and sighed.

"I'm sick of this shit Silas," she shouted into the mist. "Get out of my head!"

"He isn't here," a familiar voice said from behind her, "He's blocked for now."

Bella tensed and turned around, "You know when someone dies they should stay dead and stay out of my head."

The woman smiled, "Staying away isn't exactly a trait in this family Isabella," she said, "You know that."

"What do you want Esther?" Bella asked while glaring at her dead biological grandmother.

"I've been watching," Esther said while wringing her hands.

"Shocker," Bella crossed her arms.

"You can't let him win Isabella," Esther said, "Silas he can't gain the power he wants."

"Tell me something I don't know." Bella scoffed.

"You can beat him…but you can't do it alone." Esther said, "You have power Isabella…use it. Let me show you how to use it."

"You and your children… I'm sick of you all!" Bella snapped, "I don't want your help. I don't want you in my life or in my dreams."

"Please Isabella, you must listen to me." Esther pleaded.

"No I don't," Bella argued as she turned away from her and attempted to wake up.

"Niklaus has changed," Esther said and Bella tensed, "He means what he says. He wants you to live free…they all do. You've changed them Isabella."

Bella whipped around, "I don't care if he's changed," she snapped, "It doesn't change what he did."

"Isabella please, you must listen to me." Ester pleaded as she grabbed Bella's hand, "If you go in alone you will lose. Being Silas' prisoner will be worse than being Klaus'. That I can promise you…I can show you."

Esther placed her hand on Bella's face.

And Bella saw everything…felt everything. She collapsed to the ground.

"That is what awaits you and everyone else," Esther said before she tensed. "He's breaking through our barriers. Please Isabella. Heed what I have shown you and when we meet again I pray you will accept our help."

Esther had faded and Bella was alone in the mist until Silas appeared.

"What are you doing?" Silas asked.

"Nightmares," Bella replied quickly as she stood up.

"Someone else was here," Silas said.

"My subconscious," Bella said while putting on her game face.

"Don't fight me Isabella," Silas warned as he stared at her.

Bella suddenly felt a pain in her gut and collapsed into a heap. She started to shiver uncontrollably due to the pain.

"Remember I can break you anytime I want…in here and out in the real world." Silas said before he snapped his fingers.

.*.*.*.*.*

Bella jolted awake and immediately ran to the bathroom to puke into the toilet. She looked down and saw it was filled with blood. She quickly flushed it and moved back to lean against the wall for support.

"I can take the pain," Bella mumbled before she shakily stood up.

She showered, dressed and walked down the stairs as the sun was rising.

"You know my guys aren't too happy about you draining them," Marcel said while leaning in the doorframe of the living room.

"Do you think I care?" Bella asked, "I don't like being kept prisoner."

Marcel nodded, "I can see that."

"Besides they should be happy that I drained them instead of killing them." She countered with a smirk.

Marcel rolled his eyes before straightening up, "Come on." He gestured for her to follow him.

"Where?" Bella asked.

"I know a great place for coffee and beignets." Marcel said and tossed her jacket to her.

Bella put it on and soon they were sitting at Café Du Mondes.

"What's your angle?" Bella asked.

"No angle," Marcel said, "Well I mean Klaus did want us to kind of bombard you, but I have the notion that's not a good thing to do."

Bella chuckled, "No it's not." She sipped her coffee.

"You look like shit," Marcel said.

"Rough night," Bella replied.

"So you met that Silas guy," Marcel said, "What's he like?"

"All around power hungry dick…just like you and Klaus. Only older." Bella replied.

"Hey I'm not power hungry," Marcel defended.

"But you are a dick," Bella countered.

"Alright so I am." Marcel said, "You wanna talk about it?"

Bella sighed, "If I talk to you about it, will you shut up and stop following me?"

"I'll do you one better," Marcel said, "I'll stop the others from following you too. I won't even say anything to them about what we talk about. You have my word."

"And you are a man of your word," Bella said.

She explained quickly about what Silas had said and what he wanted.

Marcel whistled, "What did you say?"

"What do you think," Bella replied before taking a drink of her coffee.

"You're still bothered though." Marcel pointed out.

"His last statement shook me up," Bella said, "He said 'You should let them go because as long as you have them around you Isabella I can reach out and break you anytime I want.' That's a direct quote."

"So you do care," Marcel said. "Is what Elijah said true then?"

Bella nodded, "But I can't afford to care Marcel. When I got back and fell asleep, he got in my head. And he's powerful. He made me collapse in such pain and when I woke up I puked up blood."

"So you're willing to die." Marcel said.

"If it means that they live then yeah I will. Everything I have done since I got to Mystic Falls has been for them. They just don't see that." Bella gritted through her teeth.

Bella sighed after a moment; she didn't know why, but talking to Marcel was easy. She knew somewhere inside she could trust him. He had proven himself to her by protecting Davina.

"Why tell me this?" Marcel asked.

"I know I can trust you." Bella said, "You haven't pushed me like the others."

"Yeah well I've learned the brute force approach gets you nowhere." Marcel laughed. "But you should talk to the others."

Bella shook her head, "No…I do this like I've done everything else…on my own."

"That's the thing Bella, you don't have to," Marcel countered, "You don't have to go into this fight alone. You've got a whole army ready to go to battle with you."

"I won't risk lives." Bella replied. "I won't ask any of you to do it."

"You aren't asking," Marcel defended, "We are offering. This Silas guy came into my city. He screwed me over too. I want a crack at him."

Bella closed her eyes for a moment and when she opened them up they were cold.

"No," she said and stood up, "I don't want or need your help."

Bella disappeared and Marcel nodded his head.

"That's what I figured," he said and pulled out his cell phone. "Thierry meet me in the Quarter. I need your help."

.*.*.*.*.*.

"Sir?" Connor asked as he found an out of breath Silas kneeling on the ground.

"She's strong," Silas said, "I thought I weakened her, but she's breaking the hold I have on her. She's let Marcel in on what she was thinking. It took all I had to turn her back to the anger she has."

"What do we do?" Connor asked.

"We have to strike at her now," Silas stood up. "I need her mind weak."

"Are you saying we…" Connor asked, shocked, and Silas nodded his head, "But sir I think it's too soon. Perhaps we give her more time…"

Silas threw a chair across the room, "Do not question me!" he roared, "Now go!"

Connor nodded and disappeared.

"I won't lose," Silas said while looking in the mirror, "I've come too far for that."

.*.*.*.*.*.

"Marcel I don't think this is a good idea," Thierry said as they headed to the Deveraux's bar.

"This affects them as much as it affects us," Marcel said and walked in.

Jane-Anne and Sophie tensed.

"What do you want?" Jane-Anne asked.

"We need to talk," Marcel said.

"Hand us over Davina and we will," Jane-Anne replied.

"Not happening." Marcel said.

"Then get out," Jane-Anne growled.

"Silas," Marcel said and both witches tensed, "He's controlling Bella."

"That's impossible," Sophie said.

"I saw it," Marcel said, "One minute she was opening up telling me everything and then the next she shut down, she was cold. There was a change in her. I've seen it a few times."

"Can he do that?" Sophie asked.

Jane-Anne was silent.

"Look I know we are on opposite sides on the whole Harvest deal, but right now we got a really old warlock hell bent on destroying us all. If you're dead you won't even bring back those girls. The way I see it, we need to work together." Marcel said, "Silas is bad news for all of us."

"No," Jane-Anne growled.

"Stop," Sophie said, "He's right, we need to do this."

"Sophie," Jane-Anne chastised.

"You've heard the stories, you know the prophecy. If Silas gets what he wants we will never get Monique back." Sophie said.

Jane-Anne looked at Marcel in anger, "I will have to talk to the Elders."

Marcel nodded. "I'll be at the Quarter waiting." He said and left.

.*.*.*.*.*.

Charlie, Davina, Camille, and Klaus were at the church looking through some books while the others scoured the city for Bella.

"My uncle said we might find something in here," Cami said.

"We need to find something," Davina said before she nibbled on her lower lip again.

"Something you saw?" Charlie asked.

Davina nodded.

"What did you see?" Klaus asked.

Before Davina could answer she watched as Klaus was thrown into the wall by an unseen force and several Hunters walked in.

"Sorry are we interrupting the party?" Connor asked.

Klaus tried to move, but he couldn't.

"Don't bother," Connor said and pointed to a female, "Lisa here packs one hell of a punch."

Charlie went for his gun, but the others were quick and drew their weapons, pointing them at him, Cami, and Davina.

"Oh and little witch don't try anything otherwise Lisa will kill Cami there." Connor said and sat down in the front pew.

"What do you want?" Charlie asked.

"Well I want your daughter to join Silas, but she's being stubborn." Connor said.

"Good," Charlie growled.

"Not really," Connor said, "You see I didn't want it to come to this, but the boss wants her to be pushed so that's what I'm going to do." Connor said, "Take his gun and tie them up."

Another male Hunter disarmed Charlie and quickly the three of them were tied up.

"Silas' fight is with me not my daughter," Klaus growled.

"Lisa," Connor said.

Lisa used her powers and Klaus screamed in pain as it felt his head was about to explode.

Connor walked over to Klaus and smirked, "You we can't kill, but that doesn't mean we can't torture. You see you're gonna be our third witness because one of them," Connor pointed to the three that were tied up, "is gonna die."

Klaus' eyes widened in shock.

"Tell me Cami, Davina, Charlie have any of you ever played rush and roulette?" Connor asked and pulled out a pistol, "I'll explain the basics. You see I put one bullet in the cylinder and then I spin it. Then one by one I got up to each of you and point the gun at a major organ, one that if shot would cause death and I pull the trigger. If it doesn't go off I move to the next person, if it does the game is over and we leave. You run to Bella and tell her what happened and then she comes to us to stop us from playing the game again." Connor explained as he walked towards the three.

He placed a bullet in the cylinder, spun it and snapped it into place.

"Who's first?" Connor asked.

"Let them go," Klaus growled, but he was immediately hit with pain.

"Let's go with you Cami." Connor said and pointed the barrel of the gun at her head.

"You leave her alone you son of a bitch," Charlie growled and was immediately punching in the mouth by another hunter.

Cami froze and then flinched when she heard a click.

"Guess it's beginner's luck," Connor smirked and moved onto Davina, placing the barrel to her head. "Your turn little witch."

Davina's tears ran down her face.

"You leave my niece alone." Charlie roared.

Connor pulled the trigger and again it clicked.

"Alright old man your turn," Connor said as he moved to Charlie.

"No please no," Davina cried out, "Please don't."

"Tears don't melt my heart little girl." Connor said as he placed the barrel to Charlie's temple.

"Go fuck yourself," Charlie snapped angrily.

Klaus held his breath and Connor pulled the trigger.

Click.

"Damn," Connor said as he looked to Charlie, "Should we make this more interesting? Let's take one of them out of the game, Cami you're in luck you get to live longer."

Cami was moved away from Charlie and Davina.

Connor bent down to their level and opened the cylinder letting it spin then snapped it into place.

"Glad it wasn't Cami…I mean she's important to Bella and all, but you two…she would lose it if she lost one of you." Connor said.

"You know what I'm going to enjoy?" Charlie asked.

"What?" Connor asked.

"Watching my daughter gut you like a fish," Charlie growled and then head butted Connor breaking his nose.

Immediately a couple Hunters moved in and hit Charlie in the back of the head before they kicked him in the stomach.

"Stop," Connor ordered as he stood up, "Make them kneel." He said as he held his nose.

"Tell Silas he can have me," Klaus yelled.

"Shut up," Connor yelled. "Let's play eenie meanie miney mo."

As Connor started the rhyme Charlie looked at Davina.

"Davina," Charlie said, "Look at me."

Davina did and she had tears streaming down her face and she was shaking.

"It's gonna be okay we are gonna get out of this." Charlie placated her.

Davina nodded her head.

"I love you okay," Charlie said and put his head to hers, "We are gonna be okay just close your eyes."

"My mother told me to pick the very best one and you are it" Connor smirked as he finished the rhyme.

Connor placed the barrel of the gun against the chest.

"Uncle Charlie," Davina stuttered.

"It's gonna be okay," Charlie said, "Just keep them close." Charlie said.

Connor pulled the trigger.

Bang!

A/N 2: Going into hiding now! See you in a couple weeks!
