"Buried Secrets 3"

Chapter 13

Bella walked through the cemetery and found herself near the statue of the crying angel. She sat down and rubbed at her temples. She felt this war waging within her mind; one minute she was ready to ask for help, to let them in, and then suddenly she was pushing everyone away. Bella didn't know what was going on, but she needed to figure it out soon because she was starting to go insane.

She stood up, but suddenly she felt very lightheaded and fell to the ground.

"Isabella," Silas' voice echoed in her head, causing it to pound.

"What do you want," Bella asked as she grasped both sides of her head, "You have my answer."

"I know," Silas said, "And I wish it hadn't come to this, but you pushed me," Silas said sadly, "I didn't want it to go like this, but you need to know how serious I am."

"What are you talking about?" Bella crumbled further to the ground in pain.

"I warned you…as long as you care, I can reach out and break you anytime I want." Silas stated.

"I can take whatever you dish out." Bella yelled as she clutched her head.

Silas laughed, "Isabella, Isabella," he said, "I wasn't talking about this physical pain you feel now. I know you can take it, but I know you can't take the pain of losing someone you love."

Bella froze.

"I did warn you. This is your wakeup call…get rid of them or more shall follow." Silas said seriously.

"What did you do?" Bella screamed out.

"You'll find out soon enough," Silas said darkly, "It seems not even the house of God is safe anymore."

The pain lifted and Bella was able to get to her feet. She looked around and then Silas' words hit her.

"Kieran," Bella realized before she started running for the church.

.*.*.*.*.*.

Bang!

Klaus stilled as did everyone else in the church.

Davina opened her eyes when she didn't feel pain and looked into Charlie's eyes. Then she looked down to see blood seeping through his shirt.

"NOOOOOOO!" Davina screamed as Charlie fell to the ground.

"Oh my god," Camille paled at the sight.

"Sorry it had to be you," Connor said as he kneeled next to Charlie, "Bella should have listened. Your death is on her."

"She's going to kill you," Charlie managed to get out before he started to spit up blood. "I'll be waiting for you on the other side when she does."

"Whatever comforts you," Connor said and stood up.

Charlie's eyes turned to Klaus who was struggling to get free. He looked at him until the hybrid looked back at him.

"I protected her," Charlie coughed up more blood, "I loved her…now it's your turn…don't make me regret what I've told you."

"I won't," Klaus said.

"Tell her…I love her." Charlie said before more blood was coughed up.

"I will," Klaus said as a tear rolled down his cheek, "Thank you."

Klaus watched as the light from Charlie's eyes dimmed and then he was gone.

"Tell Bella that Silas wants her soon or she'll be burying more bodies." Connor said. "Lisa…"

Klaus was about to say something, but then the world went black.

.*.*.*.*.*.

Bella busted through the church doors with her hybrid face fully out. She saw Klaus, Davina, and Cami off to the side; they were all passed out. Then her eyes fell to the altar and her fangs receded.

"NOOOOOOOO," Bella shook and blurred, "NOOOO Daddy… NOO!" She cried as she pulled Charlie off the altar, "Noooo Daddy, please wake up." She said as she cradled his head.

She immediately ripped open her wrist and put it to his mouth.

"Daddy please," Bella said, "I'm sorry…I am so sorry," she apologized as tears fell from her eyes, "Please just wake up…Be okay, just please. I'll listen…I'll do whatever you want just please wake up." Bella pulled her wrist away and wrapped her arms around him, "Please don't leave me…please, I can't do this without you. Please…please."

Cami was the first to come to. She thought it was all a bad dream until she saw her friend near the altar, holding Charlie.

"Oh god no," Cami said as her tears started to roll.

Davina woke up next and looked over.

"Uncle Charlie," Davina screamed and ran over to him.

"Daddy please," Bella continued to cry.

Klaus sat in the back against the wall as he watched Bella's heart break.

"Klaus," Rebekah called out as she burst in with Elijah and Kol. She gasped at the sight, "Oh my god."

Elijah tensed as he saw Bella holding Charlie and just rocking as she pleaded for him to come back.

Cami touched Bella's arm, "Bella we have to go."

"NO," Bella yelled, her hybrid face coming out, "I'm not leaving him. He's going to come back."

"Bella," Cami choked out, "He's gone."

"NO," Bella growled.

"Bella," Rebekah cautiously approached Bella, "It's not safe here." She said, "They could come back and Charlie is in no shape for that."

Bella sat there for a moment and then nodded.

"Let Kol carry him," Rebekah said.

"I'll make sure he makes it back okay," Kol said.

Bella released her grip on Charlie, allowing Kol to pick him up and then the three of them blurred away.

Rebekah looked over Davina and Cami.

"I couldn't save him," Davina cried, "She was blocking me."

"It's alright," Rebekah said, "You couldn't have done anything, but we need to get you back to the house where it's safe."

Rebekah escorted the girls while Elijah kneeled in front of his brother.

"Niklaus," Elijah said.

"It should have been me," Klaus said numbly, "Silas did this to get Bella to come to him. I should have seen it and I didn't do anything to stop it."

"They had a witch," Elijah said, "They were going to kill someone."

"But it shouldn't have been him," Klaus said as he fought back tears.

"What happened?" Elijah asked.

Klaus told him every detail.

"And then the gun went off." Klaus said as he breathed hard; the pain was causing his chest to constrict. "He laid there dying and he told me it was my turn to protect her." Klaus looked at his brother, "How can I protect her if I can't protect the people she cares for?"

"Silas did this as a message. He's been controlling her Klaus. Her cold demeanor, that's him." Elijah explained, "He must have felt her slipping and wanted to make her weak. You have to keep your promise to Charlie. She is going to need you because right now she is more vulnerable than ever. If he gets inside her head, we lose her. Do you want that to happen?"

"No," Klaus said.

"Then let's go to the house." Elijah suggested before standing up.

.*.*.*.*.*.

Klaus and Elijah arrived as the others did.

"Did you find her?" Damon asked.

Elena looked to see Cami and Davina crying. Rebekah and Kol were covered in blood.

"What happened?" Elena asked fear radiating from her voice.

"Where's Bella?" Damon asked and then headed for the stairs.

Kol stopped him, "Don't mate," Kol said seriously.

"Go," Elijah said to Klaus and then ushered everyone else into the library.

"She's in his room," Rebekah said while touching Klaus shoulder as he passed, "She's fragile Nik."

Klaus nodded and slowly made his way up the stairs. He reached Charlie's room, opened the door and walked in before shutting it behind him.

"Daddy," Bella spoke to Charlie's body, "I'm not going anywhere." She promised before she kissed his hand, "I'll be here when you wake up."

"Isabella," Klaus said.

Bella's eye snapped to him, "Get out," she yelled, "Get out!"

"Isabella," Klaus said.

Bella blurred and pinned him to the wall. "Leave."

"Isabella, he's gone." Klaus said while not fighting her.

"No he's not," she growled. "He's going to wake up…I gave him my blood."

"Isabella," Klaus said quietly, "You know he won't."

"Yes he will," Bella argued yet her grip loosened on Klaus. Her tears started to well up in her eyes, "He's going to wake up…he is."

"Isabella," Klaus said, choking up.

Seeing her like this…weak and heartbroken… it pained him and then he watched as Bella broke. She slumped to the ground and let out a heartbreakingly painful cry as tears fell down her face. Klaus knelt in front of her.

"It should have been you." Bella yelled and started to hit his chest, "IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN YOU!"

"I know," Klaus said. "I know and if I could, I would trade places with him."

"I HATE YOU!" Bella screamed and hit him some more.

Klaus' arms enveloped Bella and he just hugged her.

"I hate you," Bella continued to scream, "This is your fault!"

"I know." Klaus said as he continued to hold her as she cried.

"GET OFF OF ME!" Bella said and finally pushed him away.

Damon blurred into the room and wrapped his arms around her.

"Get out," Bella yelled at Klaus.

Klaus obliged and headed straight into the library for a drink.

"Niklaus," Elijah said, "How is she?"

"She's fucking destroyed." Klaus growled. "It should have been me."

"Silas wants her destroyed," Elijah said, "He wants her weak."

"Well he got his fucking wish," Klaus snapped and threw the glass against the wall.

"Klaus," Elijah said, "You can't let your anger take over."

"Why not?" Klaus growled.

"Because she needs you…she needs you now more than ever." Elijah stated.

"She doesn't want me." Klaus said. "Get out."

.*.*.*.*.*.

"Bella," Damon whispered as he stroked her hair.

She sobbed and shook in his arms. Her pain was unbearable and all Damon knew to do was hold her.

"I'm here," Damon said and kissed her head, "It's going to be alright."

Suddenly Damon was thrown across the room and when he stood up his eyes met black ones.

"It will never be alright." Bella growled, "Get out."

"Bella," Damon said.

"Get out before I tear you to shreds." Bella roared.

Damon stood there and shook his head, "NO."

"Get out," she yelled again and threw a chair at him.

He dodged it, "I'm not going anywhere." He said and blurred to grab her hands, "You can throw me across this room, you can beat the shit out of me, you can say whatever hurtful things you can think of, but I'm not leaving you. The only way you're getting rid of me is if you kill me." Damon stated.

Bella's face changed and quickly she bit into Damon's neck before she pushed him away.

"Tick tock," Bella growled.

Stefan blurred in and looked at his brother's wound.

"What the hell?" He screamed looking at her.

Elena came in and helped pick up Damon off the floor.

"We need to get out of here," she said.

"No," Damon argued, wincing at the pain in his neck.

"Damon," Elena said, forcing him to look away at Bella, who was glaring at them with her hollow eyes, "Please."

Damon conformed and the three of them left.

Bella locked the door, but she couldn't catch her breath and soon she was spinning and darkness swept over her.

.*.*.*.*.*.

When Bella opened her eyes she was in the bayou, but she had no idea how she had gotten there.

"I'm so sorry dear," Silas said from behind her. "I really had hoped it wasn't going to be him."

"You had a choice," Bella snapped and whipped around.

"So did you," Silas said, "I gave you the opportunity to join me and you refused. These are the consequences of your refusal. Now then if you are ready to stop being selfish and prove you really do care about the ones you love you will join me."

Bella bared her fangs at him.

"If you choose not to then more deaths will follow. Davina, Camille, Damon, Elena…there's an endless list." Silas said.

Bella stopped breathing and retracted her fangs, allowing her face to return to normal. She felt defeated, she felt hollow and she sank to her knees.

"There's a good girl." Silas smiled and held out his hand.

Bella went to reach for it, but someone's hand grabbed hers.

"No," Charlie intervened as he stood beside her.

"Daddy," Bella said as she looked at him.

"How did you get here?" Silas asked shocked.

"You killed me. You have no control over dead spirits," Charlie said before he pushed Silas back, "You will not get my daughter."

"You can't stop me," Silas said before he stumbled.

"You aren't getting her," Charlie growled. "Get out of her head now!"

Silas quickly disappeared and Charlie turned to face Bella.

"I knew you'd come back," Bella jumped up and hugged him, "I told them you would."

"Bella," Charlie said softly, "You know it doesn't work like that."

"But you're here," Bella said.

"I'm here in your mind. You aren't really in the bayou, Hun." Charlie explained softly. "Esther gave me a way in."

"But you can stay." Bella said, new tears started to fall down her cheek.

"You know I can't," Charlie said and pushed back her hair. "I cannot tell you how proud I am of you."

"You're dead because of me." Bella sobbed. "It's my fault."

"Someone once told me dying in the place of someone you love seems like a good way to go." Charlie chuckled, "I would do it all over again Bella. All of it, even if I knew where I would end up because of it. This was my destiny Bella and unfortunately this is where I have to leave you."

Bella sobbed and Charlie wrapped his arms around her.

"Don't cry," Charlie said, "I am never going to be too far Hun. Just because you can't see me doesn't mean I won't be right there beside you."

"I don't want you to go." Bella cried.

"I know," Charlie said, "But my time is up Bella," Charlie started to pull away from her, "You don't stop fighting you got me kiddo? You do not give up because that is not who you are. You didn't give up with Klaus and you aren't going to surrender to some thousands of years old psycho who wants to rule the world. You are gonna go back and you're gonna give that son of bitch hell and give him a first class ticket there."

"I can't do it without you," Bella shook her head at the thought of trying to fight without her father.

"You will never be without me. I'm always gonna be here, just not physically." Charlie said.

"How?" Bella asked, "How do I defeat him?"

"You don't do it alone. It's time to stop running from your lineage Bella. It's time to embrace it. Accept it, use it. It's time to stop being scared of it and start owning it. You are Klaus' daughter, but you are also my daughter. He is your biological father and as hard as it is to believe it, he doesn't want to hurt you anymore." Charlie said.

They sat there with him holding her for a bit until he finally sighed.

Charlie helped her to her feet, "My time's up Bella. I have to go." He said quietly.

Charlie kissed Bella's head and hugged her.

"I love you." Charlie squeezed her in his arms.

Bella squeezed back, "I love you too Daddy."

.*.*.*.*.*.

Suddenly Bella sat up and she was back in the room. She looked over to Charlie's body on the bed and walked over. She kissed his cheek.

"I promise," Bella whispered and pulled the cover over his head.

She grabbed an empty glass by the bed and headed for the door. She opened the door to find Marcel standing outside.

"Bella," Marcel started.

"I want him taken somewhere," she said, interrupting him before he said anything else, "I want him safe until we can go home."

Marcel nodded, "I'll make sure of it."

"How long have I been out?" Bella asked.

"A day," Marcel said, "We couldn't get in."

Bella quickly bit into her wrist and let the blood fill up the glass.

"Take this to Damon…he's going to need it." Bella said.

Bella headed down the stairs and saw only Kol was in the house.

"Where is everyone?" she asked.

Kol tensed, "Out searching for Silas."

"You're scared of me," Bella stated.

"I'm wary," Kol corrected, "You did after all hold me prisoner for a few days, got into my head and made me think I was slowly decaying. Not to mention the actual torture you put me through with the vervain, so you can't exactly gripe about me being a little on edge around you."

"Then why did you search for me?" Bella asked, "Why did you join Elijah?"

"Because I wanted revenge…seems to be a running theme in our family." Kol replied, "But then I realized that if we did find you it would only be because you wanted us to and I wasn't in the mood to face your wrath again."

"If you're worried I'm turned off I'm not," Bella said.

"I know that." Kol said, "Which makes me more wary of you than before."

"Why even come here then?" Bella said, "Why come to my aid?"

"Because of Elijah," Kol replied.

"Bullshit." Bella countered.

"I'm not exactly good with sharing," Kol snapped. "So please forgive me when I don't admit to my reasons immediately." Kol sat down, "I know what it's like to be lost, to be on the run, to be afraid of the past catching up to you; to deny the truth about certain things. I saw those things in you and I wanted to help even after all that you did because I deserved what you did to me. I attacked your father and while I am wary of you, I can't exactly hold a grudge against you for doing what you did. If someone hurt someone I loved I would do the same thing."

"Then it turns into a vicious cycle," Bella said, "One our family seems to repeat."

"Our family?" Kol asked, surprised.

"Yes our family," Bella replied, "It's time I start admitting to that…that we are blood. That I am related to all of you. I'm done running from it, I'm done repeating the cycle that was created and one that we gravitate to."

"This is a surprising change." Kol replied.

"Get used to it," Bella said, "Now where's Klaus?"

.*.*.*.*.*.

"He's getting worse," Bonnie mumbled.

"I'm dying not deaf," Damon replied before he groaned in pain.

"Why didn't Klaus' blood work?" Caroline asked.

"Because Bella's bite is different," Stefan replied.

"But her blood worked when her aunt bit him." Elena argued.

"Bella's venom is different," Cami said. "I can't believe she did this."

"She's in pain, can you blame her?" Marcel interrupted as he walked in. "She just lost her father…most of us are vampires here. Our grief can drive us insane…it can drive us to hurt those closest to us because we aren't thinking."

"We have to do something," Elena said. "It's working quicker than any hybrids' bite or even Klaus'."

"Which is why I am here," Marcel walked over and handed Damon a glass, "Drink."

Damon took a sniff and recognized the scent before he quickly consumed the liquid.

"What is it?" Caroline asked.

"Bella's blood," Marcel said.

"Where is she?" Stefan asked.

"She was heading downstairs, but she just left with Kol." Marcel replied.

"Where did they go?" Damon asked as he tried to sit up.

"To Klaus." Marcel said.

"How is she?" Damon asked.

"Who cares?" Caroline asked. "She did this to you."

"She's got her head on straight." Marcel replied.

"Really?" Elena asked.

Marcel nodded.

"I need to talk to her," Damon said before he tried to stand.

"You need rest," Stefan said, pushing his brother back down.

"He's right, besides she'll be back. Right now she just can't face you." Marcel said before he looked to Elena and Stefan, "Any of you."

Marcel left the room as did the others, except for Stefan and Elena.

"I need to talk to her," Damon said.

"Maybe Marcel's right," Elena stated.

"Damon you need to rest," Stefan added.

"You two don't get it," Damon grumbled.

"I get that Bella, who I considered a friend, just about killed you." Stefan said angrily, "She's lost it."

"She lost her father," Damon argued.

"I don't care," Stefan said, "She's putting all our lives at risk as long as she keeps acting like this."

"Marcel said…" Damon started.

"We don't know that for a fact," Elena said quietly, "Please Damon rest."

Damon wanted to fight with them, but he was exhausted and quickly succumbed to sleep.

Soon he was in the bayou.

"What the hell? Damon asked looking around.

"Not hell exactly," Silas said, "Not yet anyways."

"What do you want?" Damon asked tensely.

"To talk with you," Silas stated. "You care for Isabella."

"You stay away from her," Damon snapped.

"She will never be yours," Silas replied, "She was born to be mine."

"She doesn't belong to anyone," Damon replied, "And she's gonna kick your ass."

"She will come to me," Silas declared while smirking, "I warned her as long as she cares I can reach and break her anytime I want. Maybe Charlie wasn't enough to push her over the edge, but say Davina, Elena, Cami…perhaps you." Silas mocked, "Yes, you I think would tip her over the edge."

Damon was quiet and then he started to laugh.

"Find something funny?" Silas asked.

"You can't get to her can you?" Damon said, "You came to her after Charlie and she said no."

"Just one more death," Silas said tensely. "Yours would do."

"Then do it," Damon challenged.

Silas didn't reply.

"You can't," Damon said, "If you do kill me, you're afraid that she'll completely turn from you and that's a risk you aren't willing to take."

"I might be if you keep talking," Silas growled.

"I'm calling your bluff Silas." Damon said and stepped to him, "You won't get her."

"We'll see Damon," Silas said, "But I do know this about her, her bite is obviously worse than her bark."

.*.*.*.*.*.

Damon's eyes snapped open and he saw that he was back in his room. He laid back and just breathed. He had found a weakness in Silas' cool demeanor and he planned on exploiting it to the full extent of his ability. After all he was good at exploiting weaknesses.

.*.*.*.*.*.

"This is where he went?" Bella asked surprised.

"Graveyards offer some peace for us," Kol stated as they walked through the gates. "Being among the dead, well there is a silence we can't achieve anywhere else. It's a peace we will never know."

"Unless you get a white oak stake through your chest," Bella replied.

"Touché," Kol said. "Nik!"

"Go away," Klaus shouted from further in the cemetery.

"Sounds like he's had a few too many," Kol said, "I'll keep watch."

Bella made her way through the rows of crypts until she found Klaus lying on top of one, drinking on a bottle of whiskey.

"Go away," Klaus growled.

"Sorry no can do," Bella said.

Klaus sat up quickly, "What are you doing here?"

"Looking for you," Bella said, "Mind if I have a drink?"

Klaus handed the bottle over and Bella took a swig.

"Never figured you for one who liked the cheap stuff," Bella commented after looking at the bottle.

"It gets you drunker quicker," Klaus replied, "I'm attempting to forget."

"Don't you know you drink to remember not to forget," Bella said. "Besides what do you have to forget?"

"A few centuries of things," Klaus replied. "How are you?"

"How do you think?" Bella asked.

"Of course," Klaus said awkwardly. "Did you need something?"

"The last thing I ever thought I would," Bella said before she sat down across from Klaus, "Silas came to me after I bit Damon."

"What happened?" Klaus asked tensely.

"I almost caved," Bella said and took another swig, "I almost gave into him, but Dad came and stopped me."

Klaus' eyes widened.

"He forced Silas out with the help of your mother." Bella continued. "Seems you and her have had a change of heart."

Klaus breathing increased at the thought of his mother being in contact with Bella.

"Don't get too excited, it doesn't change the past." Bella reminded him before she took another swig.

"I know," Klaus said, "What did Charlie say?"

"That I can't run from who I am and where I come from," Bella said, "I've always known that, but I thought maybe I could…maybe I was different. That I was the exception."

"You are," Klaus said.

"In some aspects yes, but when it comes to my lineage I'm just like you." Bella said, "You've ran for so long, but we haven't really been running Klaus. You, your siblings, me, all we've done is keep this fucked up cycle going that was started with our parents."

"Charlie is your father not me," Klaus stated seriously.

"Yes he is my father," Bella said and took a deep breath, "But so are you."

Klaus's eyes snapped to Bella's.

"I can't deny it, just like you can't deny I'm your daughter or that you somehow still think of Mikael as your father because he's the only one you ever knew. Don't get your hopes up that we are going to become one big happy family though." Bella stood up, "I can't do this on my own Klaus. I can't fight Silas on my own. I need help…I need your help because you're the only one who knows him and you know me." Bella looked at Klaus, "I don't know if I can forgive you for everything you've done so don't expect that, but I know that Silas is worse than you. I know that my father believes you are redeemable. If I had listened to him maybe he'd still be alive. Maybe if I hadn't tried to do this all on my own he would be here. I can't focus on the maybes and what ifs though. I have to focus on what's in front of me and right now it's Silas and Dad said you could help me so I'm here Klaus…I'm asking you to help me."

Klaus stood up, "I wish I could change what happened. Truly I do. I wish it had been me." He said quietly.

"If we don't stop Silas it will be you and with your death I will lose Elena, Damon, Stefan, and so many more." Bella said, "This has to end Klaus. I'm done running from where I come from. I want Silas dead and I need your help to do that. But make no mistake Klaus, once this is over, we aren't going to be a happy family."

"What will we be?" Klaus asked.

"I don't know," Bella said, "I can't answer that."

Klaus nodded, "Very well…where do you want to start Isabella?"

"It just can't be us," Bella said, "It has to be the entire community; the werewolves, the witches, and the vampires. If Silas gets his way, we all die or we become slaves and that is something none of us want."

"The witches will want your cousin dead in exchange for their help." Klaus stated.

"Maybe someone could help us with that," Bella mused.

Klaus' eyebrows furrowed.

"Come on," Bella said, "There's a lot we have to do and we don't have much time."

A/N: Hi guys is it safe to come out now? Sorry I kept you waiting, but finals had to be my priority.
