A/N: Okay, now THIS was made for two reasons.
1) The Ghostbusters hype is infectious, even though I've never seen any of the movies. 2) a friend on tumblr requested some Donnie and Leo bromance, so I delivered XD
GHOSTBUSTERS AND TURTLES AREN'T MINE, BUT IT WOULD BE AWESOME IF THEY WERE XD
Enjoy!
Who You Gonna Call?
"…uh, Donnie?"
"Yes?"
"Is…is that what I think it is?"
"…what do you think it is?"
Standing in front of the catastrophe known as Donnie's desk, Leo stared down at the large, heavy-looking and very familiar device that his genius brother was currently poking at with a torch, sparks of electricity flying out of it.
Leo blinked. "…is that an actual Ghostbusters Proton Pack you're making? Like…like, an actual working Ghostbusters Proton Pack?"
Switching off the torch, Donnie lifted up his goggles, setting them on top of his domed head. "Well, yes, sort of. I doubt it could actually catch ghosts, but since the proton stream is relatively destructive to physical objects – in the movie, that is – I've made it so that when I aim the neutron wand it'll just spray out high pressure water, like a hose, kind of. Don't wanna electrocute anyone, I'm not that crazy. Plus there's a chance that Mikey'll wanna get his hands on this thing the second he sees it and the last thing we want is for him to–"
He paused when Leo put a hand on his shoulder. When he met his brother's blue eyes they were hardened with resolve, and immediately the red flags began to wave wildly in warning inside his head. Donnie fought the urge to sigh despondently. This was the part where Leo would say -
"How many have you made?"
Donnie blinked. "Hm?"
Leo looked back down at the almost-finished proton pack, but had yet to release Donnie. "How many have you made?" he asked again.
Donnie followed his gaze, not quite sure where this was going. "Uh…this is my second one. I'm pretty much almost done with it. Why?"
Nodding with a grunt of acknowledgment, Leo looked up at him again. Then, much to Donnie's shock, Leo smiled widely.
"Donatello. Have I ever told you how freaking amazing you are?"
Still not quite able to believe this was happening – Leo was on the cusp of having a full-on geek explosion over Ghostbusters for crying out loud – but unable to fight back the grin that began to grow across his face. "Well, actually, you have, but not in those exact words."
Leo's smile turned into a full-fledged giddy grin, his grip on Donnie's shoulders tightening. "In that case, Donatello, you're freaking AWESOME!"
Both brothers then threw their heads back and laughed, almost manically, before wrapping their arms around each other in a tight embrace filled with the unparalleled joy of – ask Mikey would put it – nerdness.
"Oh this is gonna be great!" Donnie cried once their laughter subsided, and he stepped out of Leo's arms to gaze back down at his beautiful creation. "With these babies, we'll be unstoppable!"
"Who else knows about this?" Leo asked, still giddy with excitement.
"It was Casey who gave me the idea, surprisingly. April knows, and now so do you. I was planning on making it a surprise for when I finished all of the packs…but now…" He turned to Leo again, an evil glint in his eye as he grinned. "I just had an awesome idea for a prank we could pull."
Leo grinned back. "Go on…"
Later that afternoon, Mikey and Raph, joined by April and Casey, had all parked themselves in front of the television for yet another horrendous episode of 'Chris Bradford and his Too-Rough Crew'. Leo and Donnie hadn't been seen since earlier that morning. When April asked why, Raph had replied,
"Leo said something about helping him with this new project, and told us not to come in until they said it was 'safe'. I dunno."
"Oh, really? Well, that's nice." April smiled. "Sounds like their having a bonding moment."
"Bonding?" Casey smirked beside her. "Doubt it, red. The only bonding thing anyone could do with Donnie is –"
He was interrupted when his phone began to violently vibrate in his pocket, loud enough to draw the attention of everyone in the room as they turned to stare at Casey. The human boy raised a confused brow as he took out his phone, flicking his thumb across the lock screen.
His face went pale. "Oh…oh my god."
"What? What is it, Casey?" Raph asked warily, already rising to his feet, and after switching the T.V off, Mikey and April were soon to follow. "What's wrong?"
Climbing to his feet with shaking knees, Casey stared down at his screen, eyes wide and mouth agape. "I'm…I'm getting a signal," he stammered. "I think…I think there's a ghost in the lair."
The other three shared a look. "A ghost?" they probed.
Swallowing thickly, Casey nodded. "Y-yeah. You guys remember when that Ho-Chan freak showed up? Well, Donnie programmed this thing into our phones that would go off if there was ever another ghost nearby. And right now it's goin' crazy!"
Raph, Mikey and April shared a horrified look. Ghosts, in the lair? But how, why, what?!
Shivering, Mikey hid behind Raph. "D-D-Do you know where it is?" he squeaked.
"I think I can help," April said. Her brows furrowed, she shut her eyes and brought her fingers against her temples. Apart from the constant buzzing of Casey's phone, there was silence as April moved slowly around the room, her head down, clearly focused. Mikey and Raph watched her with growing anxiety, and both turtles wished they had their weapons on them.
Suddenly April gasped, her eyes snapping open. "Oh my gosh," she cried, whirling on her heel to face the others. "T-The ghost, it's…it's inside Raph!"
Raph froze. "WHAT?!" he screeched at the same time Mikey leapt away from him with a scream. "There's freaking ghost inside me?!"
"Dude don't freak out!" Casey cried, his hand outstretched, though he kept a safe distance away from Raph. "Seriously man, stay absolutely still. If you freak out, the ghost will freak out. Nobody wants the ghost to freak out."
Nodding stiffly, Raph did as he was told and stood still in the center of the pit, green eyes wide and afraid. "W-What the heck do we do?" he stammered.
All heads – well, except Raph's – turned to April. The young red head shrugged helplessly. "I…I don't know. I can only sense the ghost, I can't get rid of it!"
With a frightened squeak, Mikey tip-toed his way over to hide behind April. "This is messed up, bro! Raphie's possessed by a ghost!"
Raking a hand through his messy hair, Casey paced the floor. "Oh man, oh man this is bad, yo!" he quivered. "What're we gonna do? W-Who're we gonna call?"
At that, Raph frowned, fear melting into confusion as he turned to stare at Casey. "Wait, what did you say –?"
"GHOSTBUSTERS!"
Suddenly, the doors to the lab burst open, and out leapt Leonardo and Donatello, both clad in oversized ugly jumpsuits, and metal packs on their shells. Wide grin split their faces as they aimed neutron wands directly at Raph.
Raph's eyes widened. "What the -?"
"FIRE!" Donnie called, and without further warning, Leo and Donnie blasted their brother with freezing cold water, his high-pitched screams only just heard over the whirring of the proton packs.
Finally they shut off the wands, leaving Raph a sopping wet turtle in the center of the lair. Around him, Casey and April collapsed with laughter, followed closely by Leo and Donnie. Mikey on the other hand was wide eyed and awe-struck at what he'd witnessed.
"Dudes!" Mikey cried. "You made proton packs and you pranked us?! That's awesome!"
"W-We were in on it, the whole time!" Casey said breathlessly, wiping a tear from his eye as he helped April to her feet. "I can't believe you actually bought it, though! That was so metal!"
Mikey threw his head back and laughed. "You guys seriously had me going, there! Awesome job, dudes!" He offered both April and Casey a fist-bump, making explosions with their hands.
Standing at the foot of the stairs to the lab, still grinning manically at their success, Donnie and Leo shared their own fist-bump. "That was pretty awesome, Donnie," Leo said, his smile turning fond as he put his hands on his hips. "We should do things like this together more often."
Donnie blinked at him. "Seriously?"
Leo nodded once, firmly. "Yep. Turns out science is pretty fun after all. And if it means spending more time with you, well, all the better, right?"
After a moment, Donnie rewarded Leo with a bashful, but genuine smile. "Well…well, um, gee, thanks Leo," he said. "Y'know, now that you mention it, I did have this great idea to –"
A dangerously low growl echoed from the pit, and hearts dropped into stomachs as they turned to Raph, who's fists were clenched and teeth grinding together with rage as he glared up at Donnie and Leo.
"Oh," he said, "I'll give you a 'great idea'. C'MERE YOU!"
"Eeep!" Donnie squeaked, before he and Leo bolted out of the way of Raph's oncoming fist. With duel cries of terror, they hopped over the turnstiles and booked it down the tunnels, a very angry Raphael chasing and cursing them all the way.
A/N: This was SO MUCH FUN to write XD I hope you enjoyed that, and more are on the way XD
