Chapter 26: Arrival
Renesmee's POV
It was still awhile before we had to board our plane so we mostly just sat around for awhile. Everyone else looked happy about wherever it was that they were going, but us on the other hand, well not so much. We hadn't even left yet and we were already missing home and our families.
Soon they started boarding the plane. Since I had booked the plane tickets at the last minute we were scattered all over the plane. I would be sitting with EJ and Calvin in one row. When it was my time to board I took both babies with me and with the help of a kind flight attendant I was able to get both of their car seats properly installed on the plane seats.
Slowly the cabin filled up. I looked at my watch frequently as it got closer and closer to departure time. It took all the strength that I had in me not to cry. To distract myself I thought of our arrival destination. Volterra, Italy seemed like a very nice place, and more importantly we would be safe from vampires because there weren't any.
The distraction did the trick. Thinking about the imminent piece took my mind off of everything that I was leaving behind for now. I had been so absorbed in my thoughts that it surprised me when the plane started moving. I had even missed the safety video that all planes play before every flight. The plane got louder and louder as it picked up speed and soon we were in the air. EJ and Calvin started crying and grabbing their ears. It was definitely the sudden change in pressure. I gave then pacifiers that way the sucking would help relieve the pressure. I got some gum to help with that very same problem. After that things went pretty smoothly. It was an exactly an easy flight. It was a 16 hour long flight and I was taking care of two babies, so it was hard. I found ways to entertain myself and them. The numerous in flight movies were a god send. I had brought along books to read, some for myself, and some for them. They slept a lot, which was a good thing. I found myself sleeping a lot to. I felt like I was constantly running to the bathroom, usually it was to change diapers. I never once got a chance to talk to the others, it was to difficult since we were scattered all over the plane.
As I was reading EJ started crying. Several people threw very annoyed glances at me. We were already 13 hours into the flight and it was understandable that people can be easily irritable.
"Will you shut that damned thing up already?!" shouted one angry passenger behind me.
I turned around slowly. "Excuse me?" I said.
"You heard me, shut that damned little monster up already! I'm getting a headache" the man said.
"Excuse me but in case you haven't noticed he is a baby. And, news flash, babies cry. I'm doing the best I can here, and I understand if you're frustruated. However, I will not allow you to talk to me that way, and I sure as hell won't let you talk about my son that way. So you had better be the one who shuts up, if not I will do something about it" I said in a threatening tone.
It seemed like everyone was looking at us now. I turned back around still feeling extremely upset. I got EJ and tried comforting him.
"What's wrong EJ?" I asked him.
"My tummy hurts mommy. It hurts a lot" he said.
"Oh poor baby. It's okay" I kissed his little cheek. I laid him across my lap and started rubbing his stomach softly. This helped him release a lot of gas and made him feel better. He fell asleep there until we began making our descent. I buckled him up along side Calvin.
I smiled as we got closer and closer to land. I couldn't wait to get off this plane already. Soon we felt the plane hit the runway. It was late afternoon here. I was anxious to get to our hotel, shower, and then go to sleep. A 16 hour flight plus an 11 hour time difference will really take a toll on you.
I felt like I was literally stumbling off the plane with both babies. Once we were all together we went and gathered our luggage before taking a taxi to our hotel.
"It feels so good to be off that plane already" Sarah said.
"Don't I know it, I don't think I ever want to take a trip that long again" I said.
"I'm so exhausted" said Noah
"Me to" added Kimmie
"At least we are safe here" said Mike.
"Yeah, I agree. At least we can live in peace here for a while until the whole Joham thing is taking care of" I said.
As soon as we got to our hotel we went to our rooms then showered and fell asleep only to wake up a few hours later. It was already dark by then but we were hungry.
"Do you know what restaurants are around here?" Sarah asked.
"No, I didn't research the restaurants that well. We'll just have to walk around town and look" I said.
"I hope there's a good pizza place around here. After all it is Italian food and we are in Italy" Mike said. "
"I don't care where we eat as long we find a place to eat fast" said Kimmie. "
"Don't worry, we'll find a place fast" I said.
The streets were still pretty busy considering the time of night that it was.
We had just turned around a corner when I saw a young girl. She was a blonde girl, probably about 12 or 13, and she had red eyes. She stared at me. I did a double take, but she was gone just as quickly as she had appeared. I breathed a sigh of relief. I had probably just imagined her.
We found found a fancy restaurant. We had a good time as we devoured all our food. As we were walking back to our hotel I got the strange feeling that we were being followed but every time I looked back I saw nothing.
I literally walked into someone when I wasn't paying attention to where I was walking. My breath got caught in my throat as I looked at the man. It was a vampire. There was something vaguely familiar about the man, which disturbed me greatly.
"Young Renesmee, we meet again" he said. EJ whimpered and the man automatically glanced at him. When he tried to touch him I moved backwards, right into another family member who had frozen.
"Well done Jane, you were right" he said.
Then I noticed the blonde girl from earlier. "You're welcome Aro" she said. I felt a shiver run down my spine as I remembered exactly who he was.
