I'm just gonna stop giving time frames and just update when I update. Like today. Yay! I took down the other stories because they are under construction. I don't know when they will be put back up yet. I will work on them, but I don't have a date and time for when they'll be ready. I'm trying so don't kill me .

I don't own anything!

Hearts On Fire

chapter twenty-two: A real home

Tonraq's P.O.V

"Well that didn't go as planned." I state flatly

"Well part of it did. I'm pretty sure you put Tarrlok in a coma." Mako says

"Don't we at least get a phone call?" I ask as the officer pushes Mako and I into a cell together. After a while of sitting in the lifeless cell, he starts to pace back and forth worriedly.

"Mako, will you just sit down. You're making me dizzy."

"How can you be so calm about this?"

"Once I get a phone call, I'll just call my wife and she'll just come and bail us out." I shrug as I sit on the small bench.

He stops pacing and turns to look at me. He scrunches up his eyebrows and stares at me silently.

"What?" I ask

"You're married?"

"Yes."

"Does Korra know?"

"No." I say "Not yet."

"I think you should tell her." he looks at me seriously

He turns away and leans his back against the wall opposite of me. I look at him, his face is balled into a frown and he looks anxious. I decide to ask the question I've been wanting to ask all night.

"Are you dating my daughter?"

His whole body freezes and his face takes on the color of a tomato. "Of course not, we're just friends." he says, not meeting my eyes.

"You may not be dating, but you like her." I say in a matter-of-fact tone.

Before he can respond, the cell door opens. We look up at the officer who smiles pleasantly.

"You're free to go." she says and leads us out the door.

Mako's P.O.V

We walk out into the waiting area in the front of the station. The officer leads us to a desk where I see Asami and Bolin. I smile at them but...

"Where's Ko-"

Before I can even finish my sentence, a warm body slams into me. I wrap my arms around her as she crushes me to her. I know she was hurt the most by all of this.

"Everything's okay now." I tell her softly

"I hope so." is her response. She pulls away from me to make room for Bolin to pull me into a bear hug, lifting me slightly of the ground. I hug Asami next.

"I'm glad you're out." Bolin says

"Yeah, so are we."

"So what happened while we were in there." Korra's dad asks, gesturing behind us. We start to make our way to the exit so we can head home.

"Well," Bolin starts "Korra's mom was arrested. She wasn't to happy about having the police at her house and she went after Korra. Don't worry, Asami tackled her in time."

Asami looks down at her nails as if it were nothing, but smiling triumphantly.

"So what is Korra gonna do now? She's not quite 18 yet." bolin says

"She comes with me."

We all turn to look at Tonraq. Korra looks a little skeptical, not into trusting adults at the moment. She eyes him wearily. He looks at her and smile in understanding.

"You can live with me. Have a real home, with family. I wouldn't hurt you Korra, and I'm sorry that I ever let this happen." he says pleadingly to his daughter. I believe him, but the one that needs convincing is Korra.

Korra's P.O.V

I'm having a hard time trusting anyone but my friends. I mean, that's understandable right. No one has convinced me that they care except my friends, and I care for them. Mako especially. I look over at him to see what he thinks about what my father is saying. He doesn't show any signs of doubting him when he looks over at me. Maybe I can believe what he's saying. I can be happy with my family.

Wait he makes family sounds so plural. Not just him. I look up at him questioningly.

"And this family includes, who exactly?"

"Your grandparents, uncles, cousins." he lists off different relatives. He looks down at his feet. "You have a brother and sister too."

I inhale sharply at that and look up at him wide eyed.

"A little brother and sister...?"

He smiles at me. "Your brother, Taiko, is 10 and your sister, Katry, is 7. She looks so much like you Korra. And they want to meet you, even Kirra."

His eyes are bright and he looks so hopeful.

"Who's Kirra?" I ask. He looks up at Mako when he answers.

"Kirra is my wife. She was so happy when I said I was going to bring you to live with us. She's a good person Korra. Just give us a chance."

I want to say yes. That I'll live with them. It sounds like a dream. I guess Mako knows I'm hesitant about all of this. He puts his hand on my shoulder in reassurance and smiles softly at me.

"I think it's a good idea." He says "You can have a real chance to be with people who love you."

"Other than us because we love you too." Bolin pipes in cheerily

"And we'll still be here for you, Korra." Asami adds

I look at my friends. My second family. I know they would do anything for me, and me for them. They'll still be here when I need them, so I guess it's time to give this other family a chance.

I take a deep breath before answering. Exhaling slowly.

"Okay." I tell my father "Let's try it."

Sorry for the wait. I wanted to make this chapter longer but, it didn't turn out that way. So, the next half will be updated later. I hope you enjoyed this chapter. It wasn't a lot but it's something. I have to go to work now so I'll see you guys later:)

Pleeeease review. It makes my day.
