I'm so so sorry that this is so late. I've been going through a lot lately and it's been kinda hard. I wish I could have gotten this up sooner but I wasn't able to. I also know that time has been pretty messed up in the past chapters so I hope to correct that in the future chapters. In all the chaos that is my life...I kinda lost my writing note book. So now I have to write from memory. I hope you all still like the chapters though. I really appreciate you all for reading.
Disclaimer: I do not own Legend of Korra. I'm just a fan:). But that would be cool.
Hearts On Fire
chapter twenty-three: Meeting the family part 1
Korra's P.O.V
"You have to get out of the car at some point Korra." I look over at Mako, who is sitting in the front seat of his car. He volunteered to drive me to my father's house, my new house, and be my emotional support. I appreciate everything he's done for me.
"I know." I groan
He takes off his seat belt and turns so that he's fully facing me. Waiting for me to talk to him. He tilts his head to one side,as if to ask what is bothering me. He probably has an idea of what it is and just wants me to explain. I turn to face him and sigh.
"I'm nervous."
"Why?"
"What if this doesn't work out? What if this is all just a joke and they end up hating me? What if-"
"Okay," Mako starts, putting his hands on my shoulders. "First of all, you still have Me, Bolin, and Asami. Second, they'll love you." he says
He brings his hand up to my face and rests it on my cheek, moving is thumb slowly. I blush slightly and look away from his brilliantly colored eyes. As if to realize what he's doing, he brings his hand back to his side and clears his throat to get rid of the silence.
"And we're only 15 minutes away, so we'll still hang out all the time."
I smile a him and nod my head in agreement. We sit there a little while until I'm finally ready to get out of the car. We get my bags out of the trunk and make our way to the door. My father gave me a key to let myself into the house. 'It's your home to know!' he said to me. As soon as I open the door, a flash of brown and blue clasps around my waist and holds on tightly. I blink stupidly and look over at Mako who seems to have a stunned look on his face.
I look down and into the bright blue eyes and wide smile of a little girl.
"My name is Katry, I'm seven, and you're by big sister! Dadddy would tell us about you and I've always wanted to meet you!"
I look over at Mako as he smiles at the energetic little girl. Then I turn my eyes back to her. She looks like me. A round face ans large blue eyes.
"I'm Korra, and I'll be 18 in three days."
"I know! I'm so happy you've come to live with us! I'll show you inside."
"I'll finish getting your bags from the trunk." Mako says behind me as he disappears out the door
She quickly grabs my hand and leads me farther into the house. It's huge. From the outside you wouldn't think so, but the inside is big. I look around at all the decorations and pictures. One picture in particular catches my eye and makes me stop in my tracks. It's a picture of me. I look at it closely and determine that the picture was taken when I was eight. Right before my father left.
Katry walks over to stand beside and starts to speak.
"He says I look like you, but I think you're much prettier." She looks up at me. "Do you think I'll be as pretty as you?"
I smile down at her as she looks at me hopefully. "Yeah. Maybe even prettier."
"I don't there's anyone as pretty as you." she smiles "Oh, and my momma! She wants to meet you too." she quickly adds
She drags me through some hall ways and I'm surprised she doesn't get lost. Then again, She's lived here a lot longer. We end up in the kitchen where my nose is filled with the smells of amazing food. My mouth starts to water even more at the sight of it. There is a woman in front of the stove. Her long brown hair is done up in a messy bun and she wears a crisp, white apron. She looks up at Katry and then at me. The smile that comes across her face is so big, I think her face just might split in half.
"Your here!" She squeals in delight as she comes over to wrap me in a hug. She takes my face in her hands and takes the time to examine my face. Her Eyes are soft as she looks at me, motherly.
"I have another daughter." she says after some time. "If you'll allow me to, of course."
"I'd love that." I say
She laughs happily as she pulls me into another hug. Even though I have a mother. It would be nice to have on that cares for me.
"Daddy and Taiko are at the store right now, but that's okay because that give me and momma time to get to know you!" Katry bounces on her toes.
We spend some time in the kitchen, just talking and learning about each other. Kirra was an old friend of my dad's then she moved away. Although they kept in contact. They didn't end up together until after my parents were divorced. He's not a cheater. Katry likes to sing and says she wants to be me when she grows up. That earned her a chuckle from me.
"Korra, who was the boy you came here with?"
"Ooooh, a boy?" Kirra props her arms on her knees and leans forward.
"His name is Mako."
"Is he your boyfriend?" Katry asks
I can feel my face heat up. "No he's not my boyfriend."
"That's a shame. He's handsome."
We hear laughter from the hallway and look up to see my father, Mako, and a young boy walk in.
"God, He's hot." Kirra whispers
"Told ya." Katry says
"Korra you're here!" My father comes over to hug me.
"Hi, I'm Kirra. What's your name?" I hear Kirra talking to Mako. After getting her response she asks "Would you like to stay for dinner Mako?"
Are you sure? I don't want to impose."
"Of course not. Dinner will be ready shortly."
I'm sorry I had to cut it off here. So a couple of things: Korra's dad left when she was eight or just before she turned eight, Her birthday is in three days, And this home just might work out after all. Dawn will me making another appearance. I won't tell you when. I'm just gonna let the Dawn bomb go off. I you all don't like her (who does?) but I created a monster, and I have to destroy it. So I'll update part 2 when I can. I just don't know when.
I hope you all don't hate! Thanks for reading. Reviews encourage me!
Byeee!
