AN: Thank you so much to everyone for all of the Favs and follows guys, it really means a lot. Sorry for the delay in posing this also. My computer has decided to not like Microsoft word any more so I am currently writing this on my college netbook..: ) So yesterday was the one year the anniversary of me posting this story ( 25TH of September) And the 20th was a year since I joined fanfiction. : ) Can't believe it's been a year but I want to thank everyone for supporting me and reading the story through that time. : ) Here's to another year (Fingers crossed) Hope you like the next chapter.

To Mary VA: Oh don't worry at all its absolutely fine! : ) I actually thought you may have lost interest. It's great that you'll have a bit of time off! I know what college is like, so stressful! I'm just back to college myself : ) I am so glad that you liked them. And you read them all in one go…wow! Yeah I was actually really excited to write their meeting, I felt it just went well with the situation of the chapter so I was happy. : ) Right now Kara is feeling a little bit confused about her 'dreams', I mean up until the last chapter she thought they actually were just 'dreams' but now she's discovered that a part of that 'dream' at least is real. I think the more realistic part of her will try and play it off as coincidental, that maybe she had heard Kol's name somewhere before and her subconscious tried to piece it into her 'dreams' but the more time she spends with Kol the more she'll realise that he in fact may be her " Dream guy" so to speak..lol. Also something else may happen to her to cause her to have more 'dreams' and they may help to clarify everything for her. I am looking forward to writing more Kara/Kol scenes. Thank you so so much for reading and taking the time to review again, it means a lot.

To Shatteredxo: Thank you so much that is so nice of you! Thank you so much for reading and reviewing as well it honestly means so much! : )

To PrincessMagic: Thank you! : ) Wow it really means a lot! Thank you for taking the time to review as well because honestly they keep me going! : ) Love the name as well by the way!

To pinkspring101: Thank you so so much! And thank you so much for reviewing and favouriting, it really means a lot. I read fanfiction long before I ever started writing it any author would be glad to hear that their story stands out but really it means so much to me, thank you so much! Hope you like this next chapter. : )

To katraj0908: Thank you so much for reviewing, I am so glad that you like the story. Really hope you like the update also : )

Mystic Falls

1864

Noah winced, the hiss emanating from the gaps if his teeth as he pulled on the chains that bound him to the foot of the bed. He had been sat in the same position since they had arrived in the town and deep wounds had begun to decorate his wrists from pulling on the chains. He had been grabbing both sides of the long shackles to try and break it away from the thick wooden leg of the bed to which it was tied to but to no avail.

The bedroom was decorated nicely, a room which was not intended to be a prison Noah had deducted. He didn't know how long he had been captive in the room. The windows were covered with thick heavy curtains that blocked out all light from the outside world and muffled the noises that were occurring at the exterior. All in all he was worried for his sister. He didn't know how this stressful, terrifying situation was affecting her but he knew her and knew that she mustn't be coping well. He worried for her and longed to see her, to assure himself if anything that she was alive and okay. The scene on the train had really disillusioned him to the fact that they may in fact get out of the situation unscathed. He could still feel the vampires sharp fangs penetrating his neck, causing blood to pour down his neck and even though the witch had ordered the monster to desist and to heal him he still felt that insecure vulnerability that had etched itself onto his confidence.

He hadn't seen anyone since a servant, compelled no doubt had dropped off a plate of food to him late yesterday, to which he had devoured, crumbs and all. A sudden noise made him flinch a little. He sat further upright in his position on the floor in an attempt to look like more of a threat to anyone looking to enter. The lock of the door clicked open and the door followed soon after to reveal the witch of whom Noah noted looked very clean and proper. She carried a bowl of water which contained a wash cloth and had a towel draped over her arm.

"I thought you might like to wash yourself" she said her voice uneasily serene for the situation he found himself in.

He scoffed and looked away from her.

Placing the bowl in the floor she knelt down beside him and observed the cuts and lesions on his hands.

"You've injured yourself" she said to him causing him to turn to her with fire in his eyes.

"I've had worse" he spat. She could tell he was angry and she really didn't blame him. He had been running from Kol for all of his life, lost his family and tried to keep his sister safe and now he had to come to terms with failing in that.

"Your sister is fine, safe. Kol seems quite pleased with her in fact" Tahlia began noticing that mentioning his sister caused him to look at her as more than the monster holding him captive.

"You expect me to believe you?" he asked still angry but not with the furiousness as before "Why can't I see her?"

Tahlia sighed.

"Kol thinks that having you both in the same room will distract Natalie from any visions that might be trying to get through"

"But he has found Kara now, what else does he need us for?"

Tahlia didn't answer and instead leaned forward to unlock the clasps of the chains from Noah's wrists.

"Don't get any ideas" she warned "I have spelled this room; you won't be getting out until I allow it".

Noah couldn't help but let out a sigh of comfort at the clasps fell from his hands. He went to rub the wounds but Tahlia stopped him.

"Don't" she said wringing out the cloth in the bowl so it was wet but not dripping "They'll get infected".

She moved closer and dabbed his wounds lightly removing the excess blood but ensuring the scabs stayed intact.

"Why do you do it?" Noah asked eyeing the witch as she worked "Why do you stay with him, work with him? You are powerful, more than a match for him, why do this?"

Tahlia shrugged not however ceasing her actions.

"He was there for me when I needed someone, I owe him and I am happy to help him find his happiness".

"What about your happiness?" he asked a voice finding a tone of sincerity that he didn't know could exist.

Tahlia stopped and thought for a moment looking at the man that only moments ago viewed her with a hatred that could only come from an enemy.

"I'll let you know when I find something that could give me the happiness that Kara gives Kol"

She stopped her tending and placed the cloth back into the bowl causing the water to turn a faint red colour.

She got up to leave but Noah grabbed her wrist, she turned and looked at him startled.

"Do you really think that Kol is just going to let us go when he is done with us?"

A thousand thoughts rushed through her head. Different situations she and Kol had been in together and how he had reacted to certain circumstances, in the end though she ultimately knew that Kol was the most unpredictable person she had ever met and right now he, himself probably didn't know what fate lay in store for the Delacroix siblings.

Instead of answering she removed herself from his grasp and took a step back.

"You and your sister just need to do what Kol says, don't do anything to annoy him and you should be fine"

"Can you promise that?" he asked his eyes narrowing.

Tahlia just looked at him once more and left for the door.

Noah sat back and laid his head against the bottom of the bed he was leaning on.

"Just what I thought" he whispered to himself.

Kara awoke the next morning in a relatively good mood. Her headache had not dissipated much and her limbs still felt heavy and sore but her spirits were high. She couldn't quite pinpoint why this was, whether it was due to the fact that there was now a network of people in the town with her in the fight against Katherine and the rest of the vampires or whether it was because a certain Mr Mikaelson made her feel somewhat normal in the late hours of yesterday evening. Either way she woke up looking forward to the day. She took her tonic, a liquid which Dr Marsh had prescribed her to use in days of ill health in an effort to boost her energy levels and made her way down the stairs to breakfast at an early enough hour. To her surprise she walked into the dining room to see her father and brothers already up and leisurely sitting at the table eating, which was quite a wonder since she had left the three of them drinking last night when she went to bed. She visibly noted Katherine's absence. Giuseppe looked up from the morning paper as she entered.

"Good morning Kara" he greeted his tone a little more severe than usual.

"Good morning everyone" she said a more delicately than she would have a moment before. She sat in her chair and waited until one of the new footman who Kara new as Ollie finished pouring her tea for her before speaking.

"No Katherine this morning?" she asked tentatively nursing the hot cup in her hands.

"Seems not" Giuseppe replied looking back to the paper.

"She wanted to lye-in this morning" Stefan replied nonchalantly as if knowing this was a simple statement. The sentence however drew looks from all at the table including Giuseppe who despite himself looked furious at his once favourite son. Damon looked just as furious but Kara could swear she saw the hurt flash in his eyes. She knew Damon was good at hiding his true feelings and knew that this must of cut deep.

"This Mr Mikaelson" Giuseppe began wanting to change the subject and get some answers out of his youngest child "How do you know him?"

He asked this directing his question to Kara.

Kara paused a moment. She couldn't pretend that Kol hadn't entered her mind since last night. She knew he was one of the reasons she was in such a good mood this morning but she also knew that there was something strange about him. It was like she knew him from before. Before what she didn't know and at the moment that was the problem. It's like she couldn't stretch her mind back that far to remember and the more she tried the more frustrated she became.

"I just met him in town yesterday, he introduced himself. He said he wanted to introduce himself to you and so I told him he could come here and meet you" she said plainly not wanted to reveal too much to her father before she knew anything herself.

"Was that before or after you abandoned Katherine in the Cartwright's?" Damon asked nastily.

Kara glanced at her brother whom she once shared such a bond with and just glared at him. She had to stop herself from angrily reprimanding him and force herself to remember that he was under her spell and didn't have much control on what he said or did when it came to the topic of Katherine Pierce.

"After" she simply replied, answering Damon's question but not trusting herself to say anything else.

She saw that her father was about to say something further but was interrupted by Ollie coming to the door of the dining room. They all turned to look at him expectantly.

"Forgive the interruption sir but you have a visitor".

Giuseppe stood, placing his napkin on his now empty plate and following Ollie out of the dining room.

"Planning any more adventures today Kara?" Damon asked his tone bitter "Only I don't think father has been quite mortified by your behaviour just yet".

Kara scoffed.

"In comparison to you Damon I'm sure Father won't even bat an eyelid"

Kara stood and threw her napkin onto the table with force. She moved to leave but paused at the door when Stefan called her name.

"Kara wait, as much as I hate to admit it Damon's right. I mean it is one thing for a man to run around the town unsupervised but for a lady…."

"Don't you dare finish that sentence" Kara said annoyed "I haven't done one thing to warrant such scrutiny"

"You snuck out of the house…alone and then invited a man back to the estate, forgive me but does that sound very lady-like to you?" Damon said slowly.

Tears pricked at Kara's eyes at the hurtful comments, all she was doing was trying to save her family, her town. She pushed them back and just glared at him. Even in his brainwashed, lovesick state he knew he had crossed the line. She had to be strong no matter how vulnerable she felt and just pushed her feelings down once more.

"K I'm sor…"

He stopped when she held up a hand to him to cease his speech.

"Don't" she said her eyes still betraying her and revealing the feelings she was attempting with full force to burying beneath the surface.

Fighting back the urge to continue the argument she made her way out of the dining room and into the entrance hall where her father's conversation with the visitor was echoing from his office.

Kara wiped her eyes as she strained her ears in an effort to listen.

"How long has she been missing?" she heard her father ask alerting her that something was not quite right.

"Since last night, her parents saw her around eight-thirty and thought she went to bed after that" she heard the voice of Sheriff Forbes reply.

"Well we haven't seen her" Giuseppe replied in a matter-of-fact tone.

"Really?" Sheriff Forbes voice replied dubiously "Not even Stefan? I mean they are engaged. Are you sure they didn't sneak off to some secret rendezvous?"

Kara heard her father sigh and knew that he was no doubt running his hands through his hair at this moment.

"Stefan and Rosalyn have been….distant lately. A certain Miss Pierce has seemed to turn his head and I am sorry to say that he has grown to have quite strong feelings for her".

"Did Rosalyn know of this?" Sheriff Forbes asked sounding more and more curious.

"I don't know" Giuseppe answered both breathy and truthfully.

Kara gulped at the thoughts her mind was processing. Rosalyn was missing. She tried to think where she might be, where she might have gone but was coming up blank, Rosalyn had promised her that she was going to go straight home last night after their conversation but she had obviously lied. Either that or someone had intercepted her not long after Kara had left her. She shivered at the thought that someone had been watching them, had been following them last night and now Rosalyn was gone. Kara had to gulp down the feeling of guilt. That if only she had just stayed with her then she would have been safe and sound today. She couldn't help but think of poor Mr Cartwright at home trying to console Mrs Cartwright. Both were so kind, so good. Neither deserved to have their daughter snatched from them. Kara first thought was of Katherine. Kara knew that she wanted Stefan all to herself and also knew the lengths she would go to get her own way. She needed to take action.

Shaking herself out of the memories of last night she made for the front door, knowing full well that there wouldn't be much chance of leaving after Sheriff Forbes left their fathers office. He'd want to question each of them and as much as Kara wanted Rosalyn to be found safe and well she knew that her mission would be more helpful than answering a few questions.

She made for the back of the house, to the stables where the books were hidden. She knew it was a risk in giving the grimoire to Honoria but now it was a risk worth taking. If the council were to find something, anything in the book that could help with ridding the town of vampires than she knew all the secrets, the sneaking around and lying would be worth it. She only hoped that there would be something in the book that would turn her brothers back to normal, that would undo the spell that Katherine had placed on them and in turn expel Katherine from their lives forever.

Moving into the garden she noticed her maid Sally and one of the Lockwood butlers behind the largest oak trees in a loving embrace. The sight of it shocked her a moment and made her stop in her tracks. The more she thought about it however the more she realised that Sally had been uncharacteristically chipper in the last few weeks and now Kara believed she was looking at the reason for that. She smiled at the exchange as Sally leant up and kissed her companion on the cheek whilst the man whom Kara believed was called Wilkes blushed slightly before returning the gesture. For some reason looking at the scene reminded her of Kol and how he looked at her. She felt herself become lost in both the scene and her thoughts

and it was only when her body involuntary shuddered from a cold breeze did she snap herself out of it. She was being ridiculous and she knew it. She had only known Kol but a day and in times like this she knew that dreams most definitely did not count for much. How she longed to solve the mystery of them. To discover where she had met Kol before. If she even had met Kol before and if not, then where her mind got the idea of him? It saddened her when she thought that he would probably not want her back. She was sickly and frail. Not exposed to life, sheltered. Even if he made her forget this when they were together she still knew it was the truth. He would return home someday to Europe and have his head turned by some pretty noble woman from a foreign country that she knew she would probably never get to see. He would marry her and forget all about Kara, he would live on to a ripe old age with a lineage of children whilst she would be lucky to make it to twenty-five, still living at home. The thought saddened her but she had always known it to be true. Her heart was weak, her lungs losing strength it seemed every month and there was no point in pretending. Sure she hated it when others addressed the issue but to her it was hers and hers alone to contend with. She didn't want it to define her.

She made her way down the gravel path, out of view from Sally and Wilkes and came upon the stables in no time. Luckily Cyril was nowhere nearby which let Kara slip into the hay-filled building. For some reason the smells and scents from the stables always reminded her of her childhood, when her mother was alive. She supposed it was because she used to go on leisurely rides along the country paths with her and picnic out in the fields where the wildlife such as deer or boar would graze on the long-grass in the area. She smiled at the scent memory before making her way up the wooden ladder to the hay loft. She bit back a relieved sigh when she realised that it looked like the hay hadn't been touched much. Crawling across the hay-lined wooden planks she made for the area in which she had hid both books. Both sat in the same place as she had left them. She sat back on her heels and eyed them both caressing them each up and down their covers. These two items were all the town had right now that could save them and Kara had each underneath her fingertips. She gently picked up the grimoire and held it in her arms a lot more delicately than she had been handling it before. It somehow felt more precious to her now. Moving from the stables she headed for the corner of the house which when she rounded she would see the back gate of the garden, her destination yet again. She had never disobeyed her father to this extent, never had been so bold as to leave the estate without alerting someone or indeed asking permission but now it had turned into a type of normality to her. In the past two days she had become more independent than she had ever been. She moved from one gravel footpath across a grassy mound and onto another pathway that wounded around the house. She had often found this route the stealthiest way to travel. Just as she turned the corner in view of the gate she walked straight into a familiar figure. She tightened her grip on the grimoire which she now willed to somehow camouflage itself into her dress, an impossible feat but the only thing she could think of as she stared up into the face of Emily Bennet. She gulped quietly as Emily, who had her hair hidden in a headscarf and long decorative shawl draped over her shoulders silently observed her, looking Kara up and down.

"Forgive me Miss" she spoke, her tone more that of an equal than that of one of the servants Kara was used to hearing address her "I practically walked straight into you".

"Honest mistake" Kara replied quickly looking to edge passed Emily. She couldn't help but look nervous and on edge. Emily had bumped into her so fast that she couldn't prepare herself beforehand, her only idea was to get out of the situation before Emily had a chance to realise what was happening or notice the grimoire in her hands.

"You're in quite a hurry Miss, is there anything I can help you with?" Emily asked her tone as even and steady as always.

"No, no thank you" Kara replied finally able to move to the other side of Emily. She turned to walk away but was stopped by a sudden hand on her wrist. Kara looked back to Emily, fear in her eyes. She had seen what Emily was capable of that morning in the attic and knew she was no match for it. She suddenly realised that if she were to die, right here and now then Emily would take the grimoire back and the Viking book would not be found until at least next season when the hay supply would be replenished and by then it would be too late. The council would have no books to help in defeating the monsters. Emily pulled her to a corner of the house to hide her from prying eyes using a strength that wasn't supernatural but still odd in a woman of Emily's stature.

"I don't know what your plan is Kara but it will fail" Emily spoke as Kara backed further into the brick wall.

Kara pulled her wrist out of Emily's grasp which hurt Kara more so than Emily but she wished to look strong and defiant. She hid the pain and instead stared with fire in her eyes at Emily.

"You just expect me to pretend that none of this is happening? That there are not vampires roaming the streets or even my house and hurting people, ruining people's lives".

Emily smiled a little, not a smirk like Katherine but instead a cocky, interested smile.

"If the compulsion had worked on you then that's exactly what you would be doing" She stopped and then smiled again looking at Kara now with intrigue "How did you defy that by the way? Because it certainly wasn't vervain".

Kara paused. She didn't know why the beasts brainwashing hadn't worked on her, she was just thankful that she was alert to the situation.

"I…" she began but stopped. She had planned to say that she didn't know but now had thought better of it.

"It's a secret" she finally said making Emily's eyebrows meet her hairline.

Emily stopped and narrowed her eyes and Kara felt as if she was peering into her very soul.

"You don't know why do you? The whole thing was just as mysterious to you as it was to us".

Kara scoffed.

"Surely there are others that cannot be compelled, the strong willed perhaps".

"If that is true then I have never seen such evidence" Emily continued "And I have been around Katherine for a while"

"Why do you accompany her?" Kara asked suddenly. The question had plagued her but she had never meant to ask it.

Emily sighed.

"I owe her; this is how I pay it back. Do her bidding no questions asked"

"But surely you don't think what she is doing is right?" Kara asked becoming more and more confident in her questioning.

"No I don't" Emily began "Which is why I am going to help you"

Kara looked shocked at this and it took her a few minutes to actually think about what Emily had just said.

"Why?" Kara asked unable to hide the suspicion from her tone.

"Because you are right, and if don't do something then I will never be free of Katherine or see my family again and that scares me more than she does".

Kara nodded feeling like she finally seeing the real Emily.

"What do you propose?" Kara asked a little unsure of how she would alert the council to this, or whether she even would.

"Do what you had planned already" Emily began. Kara had automatically tried to pretend that she didn't know what Emily was talking about but Emily got there first.

"Don't even try to deny it" she began "I know you had planned to give my grimoire to Honoria and I still think you should, as long as I get it back afterwards of course"

Kara nodded now holding the book in plain view of her comrade.

"Of course" she agreed "And you, what will you do?"

Emily thought for a moment before speaking.

"I hear Jonathan Gilbert has been having some difficulties with the objects of his plan, I shall assist him".

"What objects?" Kara asked intrigued to what Even's father had been working on.

Kara had always known Jonathan to be very optimistic to say the least when it came to his inventions.

"A compass that indicates the presence of vampires for starters" Emily began.

"And it works?" Kara asked both shocked and excited by the prospect.

"Not yet" she said a small smile flickering to her face "But it will, I'll see to that".

"What are you going to do?" Kara asked confused. Emily was not an inventor so how was she to help?

"Let's just keep that part a secret; it's not something I want Honora Fell to be aware of, not if we want Katherine to disappear".

A sudden thought occurred to Kara.

"Let us just presume that we find the vampires, all of them in the town".

Emily nodded urging Kara to continue.

"How are we to kill them? There isn't nearly enough vervain and we know how strong they can be"

"You can leave that to me" Emily smiled before walking on towards the house leaving Kara standing by the wall dumbstruck.

The New world

997 AD

Kol and Kara followed Henrik into the village tentatively. They were nervous. Someone had been murdered, Vilgard Bjornson. It was the first murder of the kind in the village. Sure there had been a few accidental wolf bites on the full moon. Some people, often new the village refused to take shelter in the caves on such evenings and most had paid the price. They made their way to the centre the village where a large group had gathered. The body, Kara had understood had been moved to a hut beside Ayanna's house where the family could come to claim it later. They glanced around the villagers perhaps trying somehow to determine who looked guilty. Of course they realised that the person who had committed the crime most likely wouldn't be standing out in the open but they had never been in such a position before.

"It's definitely Vilgard Bjornson" Henrik confirmed whispering to the two so no one else would hear "I heard Mother talking with Ayanna before the body was taken".

"Henrik you didn't..." Kol began in a tone of worry for his little brother.

"I didn't see it" Henrik sighed alleviating his brothers concern.

"Good" Kol said with a smile ruffling his brother's hair much to the dismay of the youngest Mikaelson.

"Who could have done such a thing?" Kara asked frightened that it was one of their neighbours that could have done this. The village was quite small, tiny in comparison to the large clans and kingdoms that some of the villagers had hailed from in different parts of the old world. Kol and Kara however had both been born here so had known no different but they had always thought safety was never much of an issue. Yes magic was the norm in lands such as this and people were forced to take cover in the many caves during the nights of the full-moon to escape the wolves but that was their way of life. That was what they were used to but this, this was different. This was one of their own consciously killing another and the very thought was terrifying.

"Poor Ingrid" Kara said thinking of the woman that was to eventually become a Bjornson. She couldn't comprehend how she was feeling. She didn't know what she would do if something ever happened to Kol. A chill ran through her at the thought and she automatically stood closer to him. He wrapped his arm around her waist in comfort, something Kara found he was very good at when it came to her. At this moment neither cared who saw them for everyone else was too focused on the scene in front of them to notice anything.

"Who could have done this? We know everyone here" Kara whispered; her voice only loud enough for Kol to hear.

He looked at her, the height difference causing him to cast his gaze downwards to view her face.

"I don't know who could even be capable of it" Kol admitted his thumb rubbing Kara's waist soothingly.

A person caught Kara's eye moving through the crowd towards Ayanna's hut.

"Kol is that your mother?" she asked directing Kol to the area she was viewing.

Kara felt Kol shift his head to view.

"It is" he spoke concerned "She's obviously been enlisted to help Ayanna"

"Do you think she will be able for such a task?" Kara asked moving from Kol's embrace to view the worry on his face.

"I'm sure she will be fine" Kol admitted obviously thinking of the experience she had had with the dead in the old world.

As well as losing their eldest child Kol had heard that much death eclipsed the old world, which was the reason his parents and Ayana had decided to flee. Much was the same for Kara's parents he assumed. He felt horrible in thinking it but he knew that the truth was that there were members of the village that had become accustomed to being around death. They had travelled here for a better life for them and their families but now they were faced with the prospect of a murderer living in their midst. The group began to disperse a little when a few of Vilgard's cousins, whom were often seen with Vilgard around the village or at the feast's stormed into the clearing looking both angry and upset. They headed for Ayanna's hut but were prevented from entering by Mikael, Kol's father and a couple of other men Kara had known to go on hunting trips with him.

Kol, who also saw the interaction grabbed Kara's hand in an effort to lead her through the thinning crowd towards his father.

"Kol" Mikael exclaimed spotting his second youngest son approach "What are you doing here? I told Henrik to tell you to go home"

"We were outside the village; we wanted to see what had happened".

Mikael sighed and eyed Henrik in a silent command to go home

Henrik flinched and ran in the direction towards home. Kol looked on apologetically knowing he had inadvertently got his younger brother into trouble.

"Is it true?" he asked his father "He's been murdered?"

"It seems that way" Mikael replied "Your mother and Ayana are trying to get some answers"

Kol nodded.

"Do they need any help?"

Mikael shook his head.

"No, but you need to get home. Both of you" he said now eyeing how close Kara seemed to be standing to his son. "Your parents are no doubt looking for you Kara".

Kara smiled a polite smile and looked from Kol to Mikael.

"Yes sir" she said knowing that Mikael was obviously wanting to be rid of her.

She made to walk out of the clearing when Kol called her to wait.

"I'll walk you home" he offered moving at a small jog to catch her up.

"Kol wait a moment" Mikael said calling him back but walking to him somewhat. He waiting until he was a breath away before asking his question.

"You haven't seen Finn around have you?" Mikael asked seemingly casual but unable to hide the concern from his eyes. Kol thought for a moment before replying.

"Not since this morning" Kol replied nonchalant before realising why Mikael was asking.

"You don't think….no he didn't have anything to do with this".

"Of course not" Mikael began "But he did have a very public fight with Vilgard at the feast a few weeks ago and I won't be the only one to remember that"

"You're right" Kol said looking to his father with worry in his eyes "They're going to think he's guilty"

Mikael shook his head.

"No they're not, because we are going to find out who really did it"

Kol nodded determined before turning to see Kara still patiently waiting by a large oak tree for him.

"Go" Mikael said noticing this "Make sure she's safe".

Kol smiled.

"I will"

"And if you see Finn tell him for the love of the gods to wait for me at home"

"Yes sir" Kol complied turning and running to where Kara was standing.

"Everything alright?" she asked as he moved within earshot.

Kol smiled and took her hand in his.

"No" he answered causing her to look at him.

He waited until he was out of view from the clearing before bending down and kissing her, lightly, tenderly. He held her head with his hands leaving the pads of his thumbs to rub lovingly over her cheeks. He pulled away and looked down at her, leaving his hands still framing her face.

"But it will be" he continued touching their foreheads together.

She smiled and leaned up to wrap her arms around him.

"Yes it will be"
