chapter 95
After Buffy got out of school on wednesday she immediately went hunting for Claw. She'd already told her mother she was studying with Mr Giles. This might be a good excuse when she did this sort of thing. Buffy knew vampires were stuck inside during daylight. Bad for Claw, good for Buffy. Giles advised her that vampires sometimes hung around in sewars, able to travel anywhere without catching daylight. Giles feared Buffy was taking this personal, feared that her anger would get her killed. Buffy did want to make them pay. They'd turned her friend into a monster, forced her to kill Ford herself. And Buffy believed Angel when he said that Claw was a dangerous monster who needed to be put down. Around sunset Buffy saw a man attacking a girl in the park. Her first instinc was that this was Claw, murdering some random innocent. Buffy grabbed her stake and prepared to slay him. He and Buffy were soon fighting. Buffy recognized the girl. Her name was Ampata, she went to highschool with Buffy. She'd seen this girl dance with Xander at homecoming. It took Buffy a few seconds to reaize a few things about her opponnent. He had strange tattoos that Angel never mentioned. He had both hands, no metal claws. And perhaps most importantly, this guy seemed immune to the sunlight. This man was a human, not a vampire. On the other hand he was a grown man attacking an innocent young girl. Buffy knocked this girl unconsciouss. She considered killing him. He was a predator, was he really much better than the vampires she was suppossed to slay? Maybe there was little moral difference. But Buffy wouldn't take a life unless it was neccessary, and she wasn't sure just yet.
