Warren and Amy were preparing. They still had to go through the motion of being ordinary, pathetic, perhaps for even awhile after the day. But they would soon be on the path to their true destiny. On Saturday they had detention for incomplete assignments. But on Sunday they, and their new recruits Andrew, Tucker, Violet, and Jonathan would perform a human sacrifice to a demon. This demon, Lucornos, would give them power. Also they would earn the favor of Richard Wilkins, likely to be the next president of the United States. They believed Mr. Trick when he said he did the dirty work for Wilkins. Trick was a vampire, an African-American who seemed to have been around long enough to remember segregation. Warren and Amy had found a girl named Chloe. Thanks to Amy's magick they knew that Chloe had called the suicide helpline a few times over the last couple of months. If she dissapeared everyone would assume she killed herself. Warren could even forge Chloe's hand-writing for the suicide note. This was their ticket to the big time.
