Chapter 108
Buffy went to detention early Saturday morning. She didn't like it but had little choice in the matter. Buffy feared that her training might come into conflict with school more in the future. Also in detention was Xander, Amy, and Warren. Xander admitted he may have forgotten a few assignments, Warren and Amy didn't seem in the mood to talk. Principal Wood oversaw detention, he laid out the rules. Detention ran from 10am to 4pm. They would have 30 minutes for lunch, sandwiches would be provided if they brought none. Although the board of education didn't allow homework during detention Wood was willing to allow this. Buffy decided to do her homework. This was a good way to avoid future detention. Xander would soon join her out of pure boredom. Warren and Amy pretended to do homework, but were really preparing for tomorrow. Tomorrow their little pact with the devil would be complete. By 2pm Buffy and Xander had competed their respetive assignments, lunch had passed. All five of them, including the principal, were incredibly bored. Amy was getting frustrated, she posed a question to Warren.
Amy: Why are we bothering with this crap?
Warren: It's only one more day.
Buffy: One day until what?
Warren: None of your business blondie.
Wood: Let's watch the tempers. Unless any of you want to come back here next Saturday.
Xander: No, we're all good.
Amy: Yeah, we won't be back here, promise.
Wood: Good. Amy, Warren, you too have missed a lot of work lately. If you need help, I'm here. I hope all four of you realize how important education is to your respective futures.
Amy: I seriously doubt that algebra or physics will be neccessary in reality.
Warren: Yeah, I think we're good.
Wood: And what are your plans after graduation?
Amy: Let's just say we have connections, maybe go into politics.
Wood: Generally you need an education and/or military service to advance far in politics. If you believe joining the armed forces can help you in that area, I respect that.
Warren: We'll be fine.
Wood: What about you Xander, any post-graduation plans?
Xander: My uncle Rory is setting me up with a construction job after I graduate. It means union wages and health insurance.
Wood: Sounds like a plan, just don't neglect skills like balancing a budget. And Buffy?
Buffy: I don't know. Maybe college, I just don't know what I want to do for the rest of my life. My mother has been on me to choose a college.
Amy: Unless she demeans everything you do, don't complain to me.
Warren: You okay Amy?
Amy: Yeah, just my old issues.
Xander: I can relate. My parents aren't that great either.
Wood: At least you all have parents. My mother died before I was six, never even knew my dad.
Talking about their respective parents had unexpectedly united this group. Buffy and Warren wanted to be supportive of Amy and Xander. But as they talked Buffy asked Amy and Warren some questions about their choices.
Buffy: What exactly are you guys planning?
Warren: Something fun.
Buffy; Are you behind those attacks on the cheerleaders?
Amy: Prove it.
Buffy: I would just hate to be on opposite sides of someone I know.
Warren: Well, your lucky. This is what happens to people with lousy parents.
Xander: I have horrible parents. I volunteer at the hospital on Christmas to avoid my entire family.
Wood: Buffy has a point though. If you two try to hurt my students or teachers, I'll do what I have to do.
Amy: Do what you gotta do principal, we'll do the same.
