Chapter 111
Steven had always thought of Daniel and Justine as his parents, even after learning he was adopted. He would never call them Mr and Mrs Holtz, just mom and dad. But Steven couldn't help but wonder about his birth parents. Why had the given him up? Did his birth father even know he existed? His parent told him some things about his birth parent, but Steven had his doubts. Then he met someone on the internet, who claimed to know the truth. On this Saturday afternoon Steven was finally meeting his mysterious source. The person who'd been e-mailing him, the one who told him his original name "Conner." Steven knew the risks, but he had to know the truth. For better or worse he met this stranger, Spike, in a masaleum at a local cemetary.
Spike: Hello Conner.
Steven: My name is Steven.
Spike: Fine. Mine is Spike.
Steven: Are you my birth father Spike?
Spike: No, but I know your father. What did Holtz tell you about your other parents?
Steven: That they were teenagers still in highschool. My father never wanted me. My mother loved me enought to give me life, but not enough to raise me. My mom and dad adopted me through their church group when I was less than one month old.
Spike: I can take you to your real mother.
Steven: Why are you so eager to help me?
Spike: Because I think your mother is with the woman I love. To be honest, you're my best chance to find Drusilla.
Steven: Tell me everything. I know dad was holding something back. Be honest, don't leave anything out.
Spike: Okay, if you think you're ready.
