Chapter 112
When Buffy returned home Saturday evening she saw Violet in her living room. Violet gave Buffy a smile that seemed half-innocent, half-sinister. Buffy feared her mother was in danger and called to her. Joyce called back and came into the room with milk and cookies. She seemed unaware that she might've been in danger. Violet asked about the "History notes." Buffy didn't want her mother to know anything so she played along. They went to Buffy's room. Once they were alone Buffy slapped Violet.
Violet: Is that anyway to greet a friend?
Buffy: Stay away from my mother.
Violet: She invited me in. And I showed her the repect due when in another's lair. Anyway I came to ask you for help. The last time I spoke to Caligo he said he was going to you for help. To stop those survivalists from murdering innocent people.
Buffy: What's your point?
Violet: Warren Mears, Amy Madison. They used to hang with our coven. But they weren't really interested in our religion, just wanted to use dark magick to hurt people. Caligo turned them away. They've asked some of us, what's left of the coven, to join them in human sacrifice.
Buffy: Who are they killing?
Violet: I don't know. I realize that you don't approve of my religion, but I don't want innocent people killed anymore than you do.
Buffy: I believe you.
Violet: That's why I came to you. Also a potential slayer seems better equipped to handle these things than the police.
Buffy: You're probably right. Sorry I slapped you.
Violet: Don't worry about it.
Buffy: So is it just these two, or is there an actual demon involved?
Violet: I'm not sure, but I know when it's going down. Tomorrow afternoon.
