Chapter 114
Violet came to where Amy and Warren told her the sacrifice was. It was the cave where Internuntius Caligo held Satanic rituals. This made sense to Violet. Ever since Caligo's death the group fell apart. Warren and Amy seemed to be trying to claim the title of Caligo's successor. This made Violet angry, she felt they were desecrating her friend's memory by murdering innocents in this place. In here were Jonathan, Andrew, and Tucker, three kids Violet knew from school. Also a man who called himself Mr Trick. Trick was a vampire, the first one Violet ever met. This made her nervous. She hoped that Gunn and Buffy were nearby. The signal, if Violet was in danger, was to either scream very loudly, or get the hostge to scream. The second option might still preserve Violet's cover. Warren and Amy soon came in with a bound and gagged Chloe. It was clear that Chloe didn't want to be here.
Jonathan: Why is she fighting?
Amy: Why do you think?
Jonathan: You said she wanted to die.
Warren: What can I say, she got cold feet.
Trick: No going back now boys.
Andrew: Maybe we should find someone more suicidal.
Amy: No. And let me be clear. I killed my own mother. Does anyone here think I have a problem killing you.
Tucker: Noone's backing out. Andrew's just a bit nervous.
Warren: Let's get this over with then. We'll summon Lucornos now and kill Chloe.
Jonathan: No!
Violet came up with a plan. She still seemed onboard with sacrificing Chloe. Violet grabbed Jonathan and threatened him. She said "scream all you want bitch." It took Jonathan a few seconds to realize Violet was helping him. He screamed as loud as he could. Buffy and Gunn came running in. Warren tried to fight them while Amy grabbed the orb and used it to summon the demon Lucornos. Violet saw Chloe in the sacred circle. She got Chloe and ran away. Buffy and Gunn knocked Warren unconsciouss. Amy used her powers to keep them at bay. But Jonathan snuck up behind her and knocked Amy out. Although Chloe was now safe Lucornos had already been summonned. Because the circle was broken the demon was free. With the ritual stopped, any chance of material gain gone, Tucker took his little brother Andrew away to safety. Trick knew this wasn't good. They were suppossed to offer Lucornos his tribute, but keep him at bay. Lucornos was a frightening and strong demon. Buffy and Gunn tried fighting him, but feared the odds. Trick analyzed the situation. The circle was meant to trap Lucornos while he ate the tribute then went back to his demon realm. If Lucornos was free, he could cause problems for Wilkins. Killing a potential slayer and a vampire hunter was good, but still bring long term problems for Wilkins. Trick destroyed the sacred orb. Lucornos instantly burst into flames and burned to death. Before Buffy or Gunn could stop him Trick grabbed his coat for protection against the sun and fled into the woods.
