Chapter 119
When Giles came to the Magick Shop on Tuesday afternoon Wesley told him what he'd learned.
Wesley: I found a reference to a member of the Order of Aurelius. He displeased the Master and cut off his own hand in penance.
Giles: The Order of Aurelius, that was a vampire cult, dedicated tot he end of the world.
Wesley: Yes. It was led by a very powerful and ancient vampire, known only as "The Master." A sort of vampire king. The Master dissapeared roughly 80 years ago. Only sporadic reports of his brethen ever since. I'm concerned about Claw. Calling Buffy's killing his "absolution." This could indicate that some of the order still exists.
Giles: Perhaps. Is it too much too hope that Claw was merely the last remenant of an extinct cult?
Wesley: I'd like to think that's true. But Buffy killed Dana and Claw. This could make her a target, possibly from different groups.
Giles: Actually Gunn killed Claw. But other vampire might not make that distinction. I see your point. Buffy and I will begin training with the staff today. Eventually we'll move on to the crossbow.
Wesley: Good. But I could help if you would rather be on a date with this Jenny Calendar.
Giles: I can handle things. So, it took you a week to learn that Claw was from the Brethen of Aurelius.
Wesley: Were you on dates or doing your own research? Either way, I found it first.
Giles: Yes you did. Perhaps Jenny was right about the need to put this information into the computer. But with limited technology you definitely had more time to devote to this research. In other words Wesley, get a life.
