"I'm your older brother, what I say, goes!" Joe shouts at his teenage brother, who was once again moaning about not being allowed to do something.
"I'm 16! I'm not a stupid kid any more!" Jamie shouts back, glaring at his brother and cursing his father for leaving Joe in charge of him whilst everyone else is out.
"Believe it or not I know hold you are Jamie, but you're not going to that party" Joe's voice was slightly quieter now but still raised. Jamie pushes the chair over before turning away angrily, he felt a hand on his arm forcing him to turn around.
Joe looked down at him, his face was the complete opposite of it's normal care free smile. He releases his brothers arm but continues to glare before saying "I'm serious Jamie, you're not going to the party, if I find out you were there..." He doesn't finish his threat.
"Whatever" Jamie sighs going in to the other room to watch TV
"I'm going to work, I'm only covering someone's shift, so I should be back in a few hours, you better be here when I get back Jamie!" He shouts
"I will be" Jamie shouts back
"Good, there's money on the table, make sure you eat, order some food" He shouts before slamming the door shut.
Jamie pulled his phone out from his pocket and sent a message to his friend Owen.
'Meet me at mine in 20"
Once he'd sent the message, he got up and went upstairs to change his clothes for the party. He felt slightly guilty sneaking out and going but he wasn't going to miss the biggest party of the year because his brother said he couldn't go.
He pulled on some slim black jeans, and his blue and black checked shirt. Then he put a bit more wax in his already styled hair before getting his hi-tops on. As soon as he was ready, there was a knock at the door and the best night of his life had begun.
He opened the door and there was Owen in his jeans and a polo shirt, standing ready to go.
"Ready?" He asked and Jamie nods, he closes the door locking it behind him, and they begin the 20 minute walk to the party.
"I'm not supposed to be out tonight" Owen says
"How come?"
"My sister told me I had to stay in, but I snook out when she left"
"I did the same with my brother, don't worry about it" Jamie smiles reassuringly
The party was in full swing. The music was loud, Busted was blaring out from the giant speakers. Some people were singing along and dancing, some were just sitting down, there were couples all around the room sucking each others face's off. Everyone, including both Jamie and Owen had a drink in their hand. Jamie saw Alice's best friend standing talking to some boys, she smiles at him and he returned it. Alice was in England, visiting her grandparents, he would have loved for her to be here tonight but oh well, he wasn't going to let that ruin his night.
A slightly drunk girl walked up to Jamie and tried to hug him, he pushed her away but kept an arm round her so she didn't fall over.
"Jamie, I think you're super hot" She slurs
"Thanks Kelly, maybe you should go and get some water" He says making her sit down on the sofa before turning back to his friends.
Although Jamie had been drinking he hadn't drank enough to be out of it, he still had concept and boundaries.
"COPS!" Jamie heard a girl shout from the door and his heart stopped, he could not be caught at this party. It was a death wish! He quickly got up from where he had been sitting and ran out of the house hoping to make it past before too many cops arrived. There was only two out there, so Jamie started to walk.
That was when a police car pulled up next to him to reveal an angry looking 23 year old. Resembling Joe...oops.
"Get in the car now" Joe says pronouncing each word. Jamie doesn't reply but gets in to the passenger side of the car.
"Have you been drinking?" He asks
"Yeah but I'm not drunk" Jamie replies
"Well that makes it all better! You disobeyed me! I specifically told you NO PARTY!"
"I know, I'm sorry" Jamie says quietly
"I'm to angry to talk about it now, just shut up until we get to the station"
"What? I thought you were taking me home?" Jamie asks confused
"Under-age drinking is a criminal offence Jamie" Joe states
"That'll go on my record! You can't do that dad won't let you!" Jamie shouts desperately
"Dad's not here, I am and you broke the law"
"Not even Danny would do this" Jamie sulks
"I'm not Danny either"
"You got that right" Jamie snarls
"Stop talking" Joe says and the journey to police station is completed in silence.
Once they arrived at the Station Joe led Jamie through the police station to a desk, which Jamie assumed was the reception bit or something like that.
"We got an under-age drinker" Joe says to the officer standing behind the desk, who nods and retrieves a form.
"What's your name kid?" The officer asks the blonde haired boy in front of him
"Jamie Reagan"
"Reagan..." The officer looks at Joe confused
"My brother" Joe clarifies
"Joe, you realise this is going to go on his permanent record, and what is he 14?" The officer says warily
"I'm 16" Jamie says annoyed, people always think he's younger
"Fine, 16, he's just a kid now, this could follow him his whole life" The officer looks at the kid then back at his friend
"He has to learn some way or another, it's happened to many time's before" Joe says simply
"Alright, what's your date of birth?"
"7th June 1986"
"Who supplied your alcohol?"
"I don't know" Jamie answers and Joe glares at him "Yes you do, tell the officer who gave you it Jamie"
"You can turn me in, but I'm not turning my friends in Joe"
"You're not making this easy on yourself" Joe glares
"Apparently I never do" Jamie shrugs his shoulders and smiles half heartedly
"Well that's all I needed, don't do it again kid, it's dangerous and illegal" The officer smiles but stops when he see's the detective walking in the door. When he see's Joe and Jamie he storms over.
"Jamie! What are you doing here?!" Danny asks confused looking between both his brothers
"Joe turned me in" Jamie shrugs
"What the? Joe what are you doing?" Danny asks angrily
"Me? He snook out, went to a party and drank Danny! That's illegal!" Joe replies trying to keep his cool
"I know that, but this is going to go on his permanent record! I'm not having him with a criminal record, okay?" Danny says turning to the officer behind the desk
"Buddy, do me a favour and forget this happened?" Danny asks and the officer nods agreeing
"No. Danny, I'm his brother, he needs to learn" Joe glares at his older brother
"I'm his brother as well and your older brother, so shut up"
"You can't always protect him Danny, he needs to be taught a lesson!"
"If I did this when you drank under-age you'd never forgive me, so don't do it Jamie, you're his big brother, you're supposed to protect him"
"I learn after the first time, Jamie has done this countless times, not to mention the drugs, he's taking advantage of us all because he knows we wouldn't do anything!" Joe replies his voice raised
"Not like this Joe, I'm not doing this to my brother" Danny says simply, he turns to Jamie who looked shocked at his brother's argument.
"I just saved your ass, you owe me big time, you're never going to touch a drop of alcohol until you're 21? You got that" Danny glares at his brother
"Yes Danny" Jamie nods
"Good, this isn't the end of this, you're in serious trouble when I tell ma and dad, but for now just go home, Joe will take you" Danny says ruffling his brothers hair before walking away dragging Joe with him.
"Joe, take him home" Danny orders
"I can't believe you Danny, you realise now Jamie is never going to listen to anything I say, because he thinks you'll just over turn what I said. He was genuinely sorry, he wouldn't have ever drank again but now he's going to"
"He just promised he wouldn't Joe"
"You believe him? He's a 16 year old kid, who likes party's" Joe laughs angrily "He will Danny"
"Well at least he won't have a criminal record, what were you thinking? He plans to become a cop, he wouldn't have been able to with that"
"I was trying to scare him, to make sure he wouldn't do something stupid like drink again!"
"Take him home" Danny finalises before walking off, leaving an angry Joe.
Joe walks back over to Jamie, who was smirking to himself.
"Move" Joe says sternly and Jamie makes his way to the squad car outside followed by Joe. They both get in and the journey starts of silently.
"Don't think just because Danny saved you, you're aren't in trouble" Joe says
"I never did"
"You're lucky he loves you a lot, he wouldn't do that for many people"
"You don't love me as much then?" Jamie asks looking at his brother
"I love you to much, I don't want to see you make mistakes in your life that you can't go back on. All it takes is for you to drink a few shots and you could cause a car accident, you could hurt someone, when you're drunk you don't control your body Jamie, it's dangerous"
"I would never drink-drive or hurt anyone" Jamie says shocked his brother would think that
"Not whilst sober, no. But maybe when you're drunk"
"I promise, I'll never let anything like that happen Joe" Jamie smiles
"I know little brother" He smiles back
