Chapter 130
Although Rupert Giles was often hesitant to embrace new technology he had allowed his book to be scanned into the computer. It was partly to protect the information, many of these books had no duplicates. It was also partly an excuse to spend more time with Jenny Calendar. They'd worked on this during the summer, but still weren't finished archiving. After they began dating they got side-tracked, but after what they'd recently learned Rupert and Jenny decided that they should resume this work. Things had been fairly quiet in Sunnydale this last week, but the danger was still out there. Giles decided to have a meeting in the school library on Friday morning, October 26th. It was suppossed to be just him and Buffy. Then he decided to bring Jenny and Wesley, given their experience and knowledge. Buffy brought Xander and Gunn, Xander simply because he was her boyfriend, Gunn at least had experience fighting vampires. Xander seemed to have invited Willow and Jessie, they invited Cordelia and Tara. This annoyed Giles, particuarly as Jessie and Cordelia admitted that they were writing a screenplay involving vampires and slayers. They were evidently hanging around Buffy for ideas. The more people who knew Buffy's secret, the harder it would become to maintain this secret identity. On the other hand danger was likely coming, maybe they should be warned. Giles explained what he'd learned. Reports from Berlin, Jerusalem, Australia, Tokyo, Istanbul, numerous other cities. Men in dark robes were murdering young women. What these women all had in common was that they were all potential slayers. This was almost certainly the work of the smae people who'd trained Dana, turned Ford into a vampire. Their targets included the very young. From hospitals and refugee camps came reports of these hooded men murdering infants and newborns. Something was going to great lengths to completely wipe out the slayer line. Buffy knew she had to be ready. Maybe these hooded guys were killing other potential slayers before coming for Buffy. But it seemed likely that they'd be coming to Sunnydale, soon.
