Chapter 23 Father and Daughter

Simon and Marceline made their way walked down a long hallway in search of Iceen and Heinous. Marceline was looking a little depressed.
"Man things just keep getting worse and worse. First there's this big old prophecy that says were the only ones that can stand against...an ultimate evil. Then the worst villains from our past...show up kill my biological father and they kidnap Betty and temporary turn her into a monster. Now were looking for them in this big fortress. We had a tough enough time facing one of these guys as a group..I don't think we can win when it's just us." Said Marceline as a few tears fell from her eyes.
Simon walked over to her and embraced her.
"Don't let these worries drag you down. Will take things problems one at a time. We've beaten Iceen and Heinous before, we can do it again. They may be strong, but were strong to and we have a powerful bond with one another. We're going to rescue Betty, defeat these villains, and then will deal with this prophecy. We're going to get through this together." Said Simon.
Marceline looked at Simon in amazement and smiled.
"Your always looking on the bright side even if everything is looking dark. You never give up." Said Marceline.
"You just have to keep moving forward. The journey is tough, but there's always a light at the end of a dark tunnel. Besides were in this together. We've faced several challenges in our lives. We can totally beat a creepy guy in a robe and a creepy grandparent. Now lets go get Betty." Said Simon.
"Yeah it's time we take these creeps down." Said Marceline.
The duo continued on their way into they reached a large room. Iceen and Heinous were standing in the center of the room with their scythe and ax drawn and twisted grins on their faces. Marcleine ready her ax as Simon's hands glowed with magic.
"Where's Betty?" Demanded Simon.
"She right over here." Said Heinous as he pointed at a floating sphere behind him and Iceen.
In the sphere floated Betty completely back to her normal self and in her normal clothes.
"Let her go you creeps!" Growled Marceline as she griped her ax tightly.
"Your business is with us not her. Release Betty at once." Said Simon as he glared at the two villains.
"Oh my poor dear Simon, this business does involve Betty. You see you have interfered with mine and Heinous's plans far to often. I'm afraid there needs to be some retribution for you and little Marceline's crimes." Said Iceen.
"I couldn't agree more." Said Heinous.
"Lets get started!" Said Iceen as he banged the shaft of his scythe on the floor.
A ice wall sprung up separating Simon and Marceline. Before the two heroes could do anything a hole opened up beneath each of them taking them both by surprise as they fell through a hole. It took them a few seconds to quickly gain control of their decent by using their flying powers, but when they both looked up they saw that the holes was sealed up leaving them no where to go, but down.
Simon descended and found himself in a large hallway full of mirrors that lead to a large arena. Marceline descended and found herself in a place similar to the place Simon was in.
Simon started walking down the hallway, he glanced at one of the mirrors and saw a image of his old human appearance, before he came in contact with the Crown and his body was magically altered and changed.
"You miss how things used to be. Before the Crown showed up and I moved into your head. You miss how the world used to be before the war." Called Iceen's voice.
"It's true I miss how things used to be before the Crown and the war, but I've met so many good people after the war. Some became friends, while others became family. They help me regain my sanity and they reunited me with Betty. Marceline and Betty are my family and I will not let any harm come to either one of them as long as there's a breath in my body! I will defeat you Iceen!" Said Simon with determination.
The image of his old human self faded and was replaced with an image of Simon as he was now standing with a Smiling Betty and Marceline.
"Your stronger then I thought. I just want you to see one last picture of you and your family before I painfully kill you and take my crown back. After that I'll kill Betty. Oh don't worry about Marceline, I'm sure my good friend Heinous is taking good care of her." Laughed Iceen.
"Don't get to full of yourself. We've lived in the same space for a long time. I know everything you are capable of and I have the Crown and don't count Marceline out just yet. She's stronger then she appears." Said Simon as he looked around the room, with his hands raised and ready to do battle.
"Very well. Let us proceed. Taste my icy vengeance!" Shouted Iceen as he smashed through the mirror swinging his ice scythe at Simon.
Simon quickly formed an ice shield and blocked the attack. The force of the blow knocked him to the ground and sent him sliding to the large room. Simon stopped in the center of the room and quickly got to his feet. Iceen glided in grinning madly. Simon's hands crackled with ice magic as he glared at Iceen. The two warriors of ice charged forward yelling.
Elsewhere Marceline started walking down her hallway, she glanced at one of the mirrors and saw an image of herself as a kid with her biological parents Linda and Hunson.
"Sad isn't it. You lost both your parents. Your mom died in the war and your father died right in front of you by my hands. I bet you miss them a whole lot and wish for things to return to the way they were before the war." Said Heinous's voice.
"It's true I miss them and...I do wish they were still around, but even if their dead and gone they, will always have a memory of their love in my heart. Life's been rough, but...I met some really good friends and a couple of them became my family. Simon and Betty are my parents now and though were not related by blood were related by love. A love that will not be broken my some evil demon creep! I'm going to beat you Heinous save Betty and avenge my father!" Declared Marceline as she brought her ax up in a fighting stance.
The image in the mirror changed to an image of a grown up Marceline with a smiling Betty and Simon.
"Interesting. I wonder what will happen to you if I kill your new parents? Would you fall into despair, go insane with furry, or just simply commit suicide? All so many questions, but first I'm going to beat on you a little!" Said Heinous as he smashed through the mirror swinging his ax at Marceline.
Marceline quickly brought up her own ax and blocked the blow. Heinous shot his foot out and kicked Marceline in the chest sending her flying into the large room. Marceline landed in the center of the room and quickly got up to face Heinous. The two glared at one another before they charged forward screaming as they swung their axes at one another.
Simon and Iceen charged at one another firing ice winds and ice spears at one another that collide in the air with one another and shattered. Iceen fired a blast of ice energy at the celling and made a bunch of giant icicles fall towards Simon, who quickly made an ice shield over his head to shield him from the attack. The icicles smashed against his shield and shattered. Iceen charged forward and slashed at Simon with his scythe. Simon saw the attack coming and dodged out of the way, but his shoulder got slashed. Simon let out a shout of pain before raising his hand and firing an ice blast at Iceen hitting him in the chest and sending him flying back a few yards before smashing into a wall with a thud.
"Ha! You fight better then I give you credit. With your friends you managed to beat me, but alone I'm afraid your going to lose. Oh don't get me wrong you fight quit well, but in the end your just prolonging the inevitable." Said Iceen as he pulled himself away from the wall.
"You always were arrogant. You always underestimated your opponents. That's what lead to your defeat against Leon and latter against me, Marceline, and my friends." Said Simon.
"Leon caught me off guard with his magic sword. You and your friends just got lucky. Today is the day I kill you and take what is rightful mine." Declared Iceen as he slammed the shaft of his scythe on to the ground and conjured up a couple of Ice Golems.
"We shall see." Said Simon as he waved his hands summoning a bunch of snow and creating six snow creatures.
The two groups of creatures charged forward. Three snow creatures faced off against one Ice Golem.
The snow creatures circled the Ice Golem. One snow creature blinded the Ice Golem with a snowball, while the other two leaped forward and pummeled the monster's chest with fist. The Ice Golem jet out an angry oar swiping it's claws forward, hitting one of the snow creatures and reducing it to a pile of snow. The remaining two snow creatures ran away from the Ice Golem screaming. The Ice Golem chased after them roaring. It was so busy chasing and roaring that it failed to see, where they were leading it. The snow creatures were leading the Ice Golem right towards the other Ice Golem, who was trying to swat the snow creatures fighting it and so it had it's back was turned to the charging snow creatures and the charging Ice Golem. The two snow creatures jumped to the side as the Ice Golem smashed it's claws right through the back of the other Ice Golem.
"You useless monsters!" Shouted Iceen as the Ice Golem that got stabbed fell over and shattered to pieces.
The remaining Ice Golem starred in confusion and shock at it's destroyed comrade. The five snow creatures took advantage of his distraction. They all leaped forward and delivered a powerful punch to the Ice Golem's face sending it stumble back. The Ice Golem fell on it's back a few feet from Iceen.
"You worthless creature, be gone from my sight!" Snarled Iceen as he swung his scythe and decapitated the Ice Golem shattering it to pieces.
Simon just starred at Iceen's act of cruelty with disgust.
"You are just cruel. You treat your children and your creatures poorly." Said Simon as he and his snow creatures faced Iceen.
"Ha! My children were miserable brats, who betrayed me and sided with Leon. They interfered with my plans. As for my creatures they should be glad to live and die for their master. They are just simple minded creatures, who serve me." Said Iceen.
"Your a lonely fool, whose desire for power has blinded him to what really matters in life. Without friends or family, you have nothing! I have friends and family, who need me as much as I need them. They are my reason for fighting, the reason why I'll beat you!" Declared Simon as the snow creatures nodded in agreement.
"Ha! You pathetic old man. You think with a few strong words and your love for your friends and family will beat me! I'm going to crush your spirit with this my next move. Now I will show you a monster of true terror!" Shouted Iceen as he banged his scythe into the ground.
A massive ball of ice came out of the floor and floated in the air. Iceen waved his scythe at it and it began to change shape. A body started to form as two clawed feet popped out along with a forked tail on the bottom half of the ice ball. A chest appeared with two massive bats wings on it's back. Two clawed arms appeared holding a massive scythe. A twisted evil head full of needle teeth and two curved horns complete the creature.
"What...kind of...abomination have you created?" Asked Simon in shock.
"You like it? It's something special I've been working on. May I present Ice Devil!" Said Iceen as the huge ice monster took a small bow. "Now crush them!" He ordered.
The monster stepped forward as the five snow creatures charged forward. Ice Devil swung his Scythe and destroyed all the snow creatures in one swoop! Simon quickly took to the air to avid the attack. Before he could think of any kind of strategy Iccen flew forward and grabbed him by the throat.
"That's just rude I wanted you to meet Ice Devil. Here let me help you get close and personal!" Laughed Iceen as he hurled Simon at Ice Devil.
The massive monster raised one of it's clawed hands and slapped Simon out of the air and into the ground. Simon hit the ground with a tremendous thud. His body felt broken everywhere and the Crown rolled away. Iceen landed on the ground and picked up the Crown taking off the other crown he wore.
"I always get what I want in the end. You lose Simon. Now I'll be stronger then ever." Said Iceen as he put the Crown on his head.
Simon looked in horror expecting something horrible and evil to happen, but nothing happened. Iceen looked equally confused.
"I...don't understand. My power...hasn't increased at all. What gives!" He snarled as he reached to grab the Crown.
A sudden burst of magical lightning surged through Iceen's body making him scream in pain, he quickly grabbed the Crown and hurled it away from himself. Simon watch the Crown bounce off a wall and land on the floor. Suddenly to ghostly images of Iccen's children Iceten and Icily appeared floating above the Crown.
"What trickery is this?" Demanded Iceen.
"Hello father. We knew you would somehow come back for the Crown, so we placed a powerful ward on it to prevent you from accessing it's powers for your evil purposes. We believe that Simon is more worthy of the Crown then you are. Goodbye." Said Icten and Icily in unison before vanishing.
"Thank you." Said Simon with a small smile.
Iceen gritted his teeth as his body glowed with intense energy, but he quickly regained his composure.
"Foolish children. They still believe me to be in the wrong and they wish to prevent my glorious dream of conquest. The fools! Once I'm done killing you, Betty, and the rest of the heroes, I'll remove the ward and have all the powers of the Crown." Said Iceen as he walked towards Simon with his scythe raised overhead. "It's time for you to die Simon!" He shouted as he prepared to bring his weapon down.
At about the same time Iceen was fighting Simon, Marceline was fighting Heinous. The two of them charged forward and slammed their axes together. The walls and celling cracked with the force of their blows. Marceline leaped into the air and brought her ax down towards Heinous's head, but The Lord of Evil blocked it with his own ax. Marceline quickly threw a punch and hit Heinous in the face making him stagger back. The demon just grinned wickedly at Marceline.
"I must admit you fight a whole lot better then your father, but like him I will utterly crush you in the end!" Laughed Heinous as he shot forward with lightning speed and slammed his fist into Marceline's chest sending her flying and smashing into a wall.
Marceline fell to the ground coughing up some blood. She got up and glared at Heinous.
"I will avenge my father you creep!" She roared as she charged forward swinging her ax.
Heinous just dodged the attack and grabbed Marceline by the back of her head and slammed her into the ground.
"Now there's no need for name calling, were family after all and you should really respect you elders and betters." Said Heinous with a grin.
"I'm nothing like you! I would rather die then show respect to a murdering creep like you!" Shouted Marceline as she shot her foot out and kicked Heinous in the gut.
Heinous grasped his gut in pain as he staggered back. Marceline charged forward and transformed into her giant bat form, she then delivered a powerful punch that sent Heinous smashing into a wall! The Lord of Evil pulled himself out of the wall and glared at Marceline.
"So, you want to play monster? Fine two can play at this game! You better be ready cause it's time to play with the big boys!" Shouted Heinous as he transformed into his monster form.
The two monsters roared and charged at one another. Heinous fired at Marceline, with lightning forcing her to take flight. The Lord of Evil shot several of his shadowy hands out and grabbed Marceline, he then pumped lightning through his hands and shocked Marceline. The vampire girl screamed in pain as she reverted back to her normal form. Heinous slammed Marceline into the ground and released her.
"Ha! All to easy!" Laughed Heinous.
Marceline staggered to her feet, her body battered and bruised.
"I'm not finished yet!" She shouted as she transformed into her giant tentacle monster form.
Heinous just looked at the new transformation and smiled.
"My aren't you just full of surprises. However this is going to end quickly." Said Heinous as he waved his arms.
A bunch of shadowy hands shot out of the ground and grabbed all of Marceline's tentacles. Heinous gathered a bunch of lighting in his hands and fired it at Marceline. The lighting hit her and she let out a horrible scream of pain as she reverted bak to her normal form. Heinous went back to his humanoid form and approached Marceline, whose body was covered in scorch marks.
"You know I just figured out the perfect torture for you. I'm going to suck up your soul and hack your body to pieces. Then I'm going to do the same thing with your stepmom Betty and maybe if your lucky I'll do the same with Simon if Iceen hasn't go ahead and killed him. The three of you will be trapped inside my body providing energy for me. You'll be horrible tortured for an eternity!" Laughed Heinous as he picked Marceline up, opening his mouth wide, and began sucking.
Back with Simon Iceen had his scythe raised ready to deliver a killing blow. Simon life flashed before his eyes, he felt a great sadness that he would die and be unable to help his friends and his family.
"Marceline. Betty. I'm sorry that I failed to protect you both. I love you both." Said Simon as he closed his eyes and prepared or his death. He then felt a sudden surge of energy go through his body and he felt all his injuries heal.
Simon heard a thud sound followed by a gasp of shock from Iceen. Simon opened his eyes to see that his his arms were covered in ice like armor and they were blocking Iceen's scythe. Simon also noticed that his clothes were completely white now and he had a giant snowflake floated behind his back.
"How can this be? Your not wearing the Crown! How could you possible still have ice magic?" Demanded Iceen.
"I guess that my hidden power. I'm going to beat you with this power Iceen and I'm going to save Betty and Marceline!" Declared Simon.
"Don't get to full of yourself!" Shouted Iceen as he brought his scythe back for another swing.
Simon formed a ice sword and blocked the swing. There was a loud cracking sound as the weapons collided! Iceen's scythe cracked and shattered to pieces! The villain starred at his destroyed weapon in shock. He quickly leaped back and fired several ice spikes at Simon, who raised his hand and stopped them in mid air, with a wave of his hands they exploded into soft snowflakes. Simon then pointed his hand at the Crown and it flew to him and landed on his head. He then fired a blast of ice and snow knocking Iceen to the ground to land by the feet of Ice Devil.
"Give it up Iceen you lost." Said Simon.
"Not yet I still have Ice Devil at my command." Said Iceen as he stood up and signaled his monster to attack.
"Alright if that's the way you want it so be. I just came up with a creation of my own." Said Simon as he waved his hands in the air.
A giant mound of ice and snow rose into the air and started taking shape. In a matter of seconds there was a giant knight welding a sword.
"Behold Ice Knight!" Declared Simon as Ice Knight took up a fighting stance.
"You think just because you conjured up a ice servant, you can honestly beat me? Don't be absurd." Laughed Iceen as he waved his monster forward to charge.
Ice Devil and Ice Knight met with a climatic crash. The two giant ice beings smashed their weapons against each other repeatedly. Ice Devil slammed a fist into Ice Knight knocking him back. Ice Devil swung it's scythe at Ice Knight, but the warrior dodged out of the way and brought it's sword down slicing the scythe's shaft in half! Ice Devil starred at it's weapon in shock. Ice Knight delivered a powerful punch to Ice Devil's face knocking the monster back.
"Time to destroy your monster! I just thought up the perfect move to defeat it. Ice Dragon Sword Slash!" Said Simon as he blasted more ice energy into Ice Knight.
Ice Knight's sword started to glow with bright light he slashed his sword down to release an energy wave that turned into a dragon and slashed Ice Devil in half!
"That's impossible!" Shouted Iceen in disbelief as the two halves of his monster hit the ground and shattered.
"Trust me it is possible. Now it's your turn to taste defeat." Said Simon as he gather a bunch of ice energy around his arm to form a giant ice fist. "Ice Crusher!" He shouted as he slammed it into Iceen and sent him smashing through a wall screaming.
Simon flew after the villain, unbeknownst to him Scorcher was watching the entire fight from the shadows with interest. After witnessing the fight he turned into a cloud of smoke and vanished.
Around the time of Simon's fight Marceline was looking at Heinous's mouth in horror little by little she felt her soul start to leave her body. This was it, she was going to have her soul sucked out and have her body killed along with her stepparents.
"Betty. Simon. I'm sorry it looks like this is the end. I love you both." Said Marceline as she started to slip into unconsciousness.
In her mind Marceline found herself in some kind of field she saw two people looking at her smiling. Marceline recognized them as her parents Hunson and Linda. Marceline was over come with emotion as she hugged them both.
"I missed you both!" She cried.
"We've missed you to Marceline." Said Linda.
"We've come to help you beat Heinous." Said Hunson.
"How?" Asked Marceline.
"Think about the deep love you have for us and the love you have for Simon, Betty, and all your friends. It will fuel you and give you the strength you need." Said Linda as she gave Mareline a kiss on the forehead.
"Now go do us proud and just know this. We're always watching over you and we will always love you." Said Hunson as he gave Marceline a kiss on the check.
"Thank you both. I miss, but your never truly gone your love will always be a part of me. Goodbye." Said Marceline as the scene ended and she felt a surge of energy in her body and her injuries healed.
In the real world Heinous was confused. No matter how hard he sucked at Marceline's soul something seemed to be pulling against the force of his sucking power. Suddenly Marceline was enveloped in light. Heinous stumbled back blindly. When the light cleared Marceline stood before him glowing white. She had angle wings and a glowing halo over her head. She looked at her self in amazement.
"We'll this is new, but I like it." She said as she faced Heinous. "Your time is at an end." She said as she moved flew at super speed and delivered a powerful punch to Heinous's face sending him crashing into a wall.
The villain yanked himself out of the wall and pulled out his ax.
"I'm going to clip your wings and make sure your life is a living Nightosphere!" He snarled as he charged forward swing.
Marceline pulled out her ax, which was now a gold color and countered Heinous's attack. The Lord of Evil's ax shattered to pieces, he starred at it and shock, before leaping away from Marceline.
"Time to bring out the heavy stuff!" He shouted as he transformed into his monster form.
Heinous launched several of shadow hands at Marceline, who sliced them all with her ax, she then flew forward and quickly sliced the soul sacks on Heinous's neck freeing the captive souls.
"How dare you! I will burn you to ashes!" Roared Heinous as he jumped into the air and started gather a bunch of lightning for a powerful attack.
Marceline strummed her guitar and felt energy gather in it. She pointed it at Heinous.
"It's time to end this." She said as she unleashed a massive blast of light and sound from her guitar.
Heinous unleashed his lightning attack at the same time as Marceline released her attack. The two attacks met each other in the air. Marceline's attack smashed right through Heinous's attack and smashed right on into The Lord of Evil smashing him through a wall. Marceline flew in after Heinous, unbeknownst to her Scorcher was watching her from the shadows, he then vanished in a puff of smoke.
Simon and Marceline found themselves in a large room together with Iceen and Heinous in his normal form lying on the ground. The two heroes looked at one another admiring each other's super form.
"You look cool." Said Marceline as she looked at Simon.
"You look like a beautiful angle." Said Simon.
In a flash of light they were back to their normal forms. The two of them looked around the room, but saw no sign of Betty. The two villains staggered to their feet laughing.
"You may have beaten us, but we still have one last trick to play." Said Iceen.
"We've moved Betty up a to another room." Said Heinous.
Iceen snapped his fingers and a wall moved revealing a staircase.
"Go up these stairs to reach the room. Betty is in there and you will face our final challenge." Said Iceen.
"Farewell for now." Said Heinous as the two villains vanished in a flash of light.
"Lets go finish this once and for all." Said Simon.
"Yeah." Said Marceline as they began walking up the stairs.
