Chapter 131
Buffy had dreams sometimes, where she was someone else. A Magyar peasant, an Indian princess, a prostitute in China, a teenager in 1990's California. Buffy figured that everyone had dreams about being other people. In light of everything that she had learned recently Buffy wondered if she had really lived these lives centuries ago. Based on this it seemed that as a potential slayer Buffy might be doomed to repeat this cycle forever. But it couldn't be all work, she had to have a little room for fun or she'd drive herself crazy. On Sunday October 28th was the 7th game of the world series. Cubs vs Red Sox, winner take all. There was a little party with some of the kids from school Buffy figured she and Xander could go. The Cubs in the world series, might not happen again in their lifetime. Buffy recognized some people, ROTC instructor Riley Finn and his wife Samantha. Also local jock Larry Blaisdale. Larry seemed somewhat awkward around Buffy and Xander. Xander thought Larry had a crush on Buffy. These five, and others watched the game Some rooted for the Cubs, others for the Red Sox. Buffy just enjoyed hanging out with Xander like this, like any normal highschool couple. After a close game the Chicago Cubs won the world series for the first time in over a century. One guy made a comment which made Buffy a little nervous. He said "The Chicago Cubs just won the world series. That means the Mayans were right, the world ends in December."
